@@rbjax2001 '81 was my favorite year of rush. Moving Pictures & Exit Stage Left was a period where Alex began using a little more Fender guitars while getting the best imo sounds out of Gibsons I've ever heard. I remember driving towards Montana from Idaho and saying to my wife, "What does big sky even mean? The sky is the same size everywhere. It's visually even bigger when there aren't any mountains blocking it..." That lasted about 30 minutes of actually being in Montana haha

I remember trying to make a 📼 recording of all the Rush videos on MTV, I had sit around and wait for a video so I could record it..... that's when MTV played nothing but music videos. Now all I have to do is pull them up on RUclips to get my Rush fix.
I see your point. But - to me - it'll be the longer hair, the moustache, the kimono on stage and a drum fill that covered a 270-degree arc from left to right. R.I.P. Professor.
I feel the same about early Rush. I too could never get into what they were doing in the 80's and 90's. The last album that I feel is truly great Rush material would be Signals - but even that one is a stretch. My favourite album is Farewell to Kings. Hemispheres and Fly By Night are locked in 2nd and 2112 and their debut Rush are tied for 3rd. That said, Caress of Steel is a fine album too! So many amazing songs! Like you said, 1970's had some killer Rush music!
I agree. Signals was the last great Rush album and even then it was straddling the line between Prog-Rush and Synth-Rush that Rush became. You cannot beat their first 8 albums. No comparison.
I confess that I used to think the Lifeson's guitar less important than bass and drums here, but I was totally wrong! Lifeson changed the way he used to play the guitar in order to fill all the 80's Rush songs, and he nailed totally! Wonderful song!
Good Lord so much to unpack......as a Rush since 76 who saw them a _bunch_ of times and consider them tied for my #1 fave band of all time, I still keep noticing new things in the vid. And for ref, I still have the '84 tour program (saw the GUP tour 2 nights in a row at the Worcester Centrum and even still have the tee shirt, though I'm way too fat now to ever wear it again....), notice around 3:17..........and then look up what the DEW line was (and more importantly, _where_ it was_ . .) . . freakin' Rush, as was always the case, miles ahead of most others......
I live an hr and a half away from where Neil was born and listening to them for over 30 years and I said then when I head them drums That's the best DRUMMER in the world RIP very sad day for me and the band and family

True, they are way ahead of their time ❤
So fun to see the guys so young then. ❤❤❤
I remember trying to make a 📼 recording of all the Rush videos on MTV, I had sit around and wait for a video so I could record it..... that's when MTV played nothing but music videos. Now all I have to do is pull them up on RUclips to get my Rush fix.
First Rush video I ever saw. Had just started smoking weed, and I was hooked.
😂 sounds accurate
RIP Neil thank you for the music
This is how I will always remember Neil. Young and vibrant and behind his (this) bright red drum set.
I see your point. But - to me - it'll be the longer hair, the moustache, the kimono on stage and a drum fill that covered a 270-degree arc from left to right. R.I.P. Professor.
Outstanding, I love RUSH 💯💯💯
From their 2112 tour on, I saw them perform live in Dallas almost every tour since then.
Absolute. ABSOLUTE!
I love early Rush. All the wolds a stage is a killer album.
I could never really get into this later stuff. RIP Neil, 1970`s Rush killer!
I absolutely ADORE Rush and their tendencies to touch the very nerves with their music, but in a good way!
"you sometimes drive me crazy, but i worry about you" 🎶
I confess that I used to think the Lifeson's guitar less important than bass and drums here, but I was totally wrong!
Loved this whole album! ❤
RUSH is another nameof "perfection"
1984. What great memories.
I live an hr and a half away from where Neil was born and listening to them for over 30 years and I said then when I head them drums That's the best DRUMMER in the world RIP very sad day for me and the band and family
Geddy is tough loudmouth, and so is Rush!
im very young, only 14, but my dad turned me on to Rush and they already mean the world to me. im trying to learn their songs on guitar...
this band is unrivaled
RIP neil peart. Thanks for everything!
Some great footage of The Professor in this video. ❤️
Headless bass and mullets = best rush era!!!
