I know this is an old video, but if people are wondering about power you can usually get away with about 5 - 10% over the max while your Hardpoints are out. You set things like fsd and cargo hatch, stuff not used in combat, to the lowest priority and when you get your Hardpoints out it'll shut them off first and you should be fine. @@nikolaossofos4282 Heat and Power is my main issue with the Vulture right now, I have barely scratched the surface of engineering (Felicity Farseer up to Grade 2 FSD is all I've done!), but I do have a fully loaded/upgraded Viper Mk III, and am working on getting my FAS upgraded to do some bounties. Once I get more engineers and can do something about the heat and power on my Vulture, I'm gonna experiment with weapons and figure out what suits my play style. Might start with lasers, but again, heat is an issue so engineering them would be a must
Bought this game recently and now i got an excuse to use the microsoft sidewinder pro my father gifted me 20 years ago. I cant belive it still works. Anyway, i think mouse would be more accurate. I cant target shiet with fixed weapons.
I love that it's the same name as the starting ship! I am using a ST290 Pro my grandfather gifted me for my left hand and it's pretty good. For fixed weapons, I've only gotten used to pulse lasers so far since they travel pretty much instantly and are great for taking out shields, if I am too far away to notice if they hit the HUD where it shows the targeted ship really helps out.
LOL. You cleared the air then started with "As you can see, I am flying the Cobra mark 3..." and I had to laugh. Most noobs looking at that ship won't have a clue what ship it is till you tell them. I can recognize a few ships but most of the smaller ships all look alike to me.
Probably you can get away with down classing the FSD to 1 if you are hunting RES in the same system. Might help with Eagle power management problems. I often travel in a long distance jump ship and transfer the other ships I need. If you do that it shouldn't matter that you have 0.1 ly jump range :P

This is helpful, but I don't have anywhere near what ya got. I have like 160k and have found myself outside the beginner area with a Viper MKIII. I tried a Threat lvl 2 which the game informed me I am way too low being "Mostly Harmless". How do I fight anything now without dying? I can't rank up unless I am able to kill anything and everything just decimates me lol. Should I restart?
I wouldn't restart, but I would recommend going to some low resource mining sites in some ring planets. Might take a little bit to find one. go there and do some bounty hunting, pick pick your targets carefully, and don't shoot anybody that's wanted that is in a wing that way you don't get ganged up on. low resource sites aren't necessarily the best way to make money, but it will help get your combat rank up. Once you're able to get a bigger ship with bigger weapons, then you can go to a high resource site, and do some more bounty hunting and get better rank towards your combat because enemies are a lot harder at high sides than they are at low. Most enemy NPCs at low resource sites are "usually" very low rank and are fairly easy to take out. You could check out my guide to bounty hunting video, it's quite a bit out of date now but it should have a little information that might help you out. Hope this helped.
@@mistakejakegaming4197 Hey thanks. I did just that and got myself up to harmless. I'm glad it wasn't me though. I was just taking on way too high level bounties. I'm hitting low resource sites for now. Hopefully I can grind up to better weapons as I do like the MKIII I just need higher tier weapons and cannot seem to find spacestation/fleet ships with better outfitting options.
@@cr3d294 When you're looking at a system you're going to jump to, somewhere in the description of the system it will say something like Agriculture or Refinery or Military or High-Tech etc. The best type of system to do outfitting for any ship is High-Tech Refinery systems. 90% of the time they'll have what you're looking for.....for outfitting pretty much any ship. And they usually have a pretty large Shipyard of ships to choose from for purchase as well.
A kill warrant scanner will let you know if they're wanted in other systems. Otherwise, just lock on to the target and let it finish its scan. And in the bottom left box it will tell you if they're wanted or not.
I prefer to fly smaller, lighter ships so I don't pursue the big ones. Which makes the game a bit goal less. So I make up my own goals. I wish FDEV would put in some small high-value ships.
Is there a place to go for beginners to fight. I tried some places and I literally have died so many times! Their weapons seem to obliterate me and mine take so long to get them down 😂🤦♂️
Depending on which ship you're flying obviously can change how quickly you can turn. I have not tried playing this game using a joystick. I'm using an Xbox controller. For instance when you're pulling your ship up, if you use the right joystick at the same time, pushing it forward or pulling back on it can change the speed of how quick that ship can pull up. Basically I'm lowering the ship straight down, as I'm trying to pull up, and vice versa.
If they keep looping you, (if for instance you're pulling up) about halfway through your loop, shove your ship into reverse full speed and you'll get to where you can see them right in front of you.
hi, nice video. i have an advice to ask... i got few hours flying with my cobra mk3 training myself with bounty hunting and conflict zone. Now after a exploration trip i have 400 milions and i would like to buy a combat ship. knowing that i can have rebuys and i have enough money to get any full A modules ship witch one would you advice me?
Ships I use for combat the most are the Krait Mk 2, Alliance Chieftain, and the Imperial Cutter. I guess it kind of depends on what kind of combat ship your leaning towards. Are you looking for something that's powerful but still small and maneuverable? Or are you leaning towards something big that's a combat-multi-purpose ship, something like the Anaconda, Type 10 Defender, Federal Corvette, or Imperial Cutter? Let me know exactly what type of ship you're thinking of, and all be able to give you a way better advice lol. www.alpha-orbital.com/elite/ship-list/ I'm going to link this website here. It takes you to a complete list of ships in the game, and it gives all the specs and even tells you if it's a combat ship or not. Give me a little more idea of what you're looking for and I will tell you what I can. Hope this helps.
@@mistakejakegaming4197 thanks for the answer. Well basically I'm a newbie so I don't really know what would be the ship for me. In cobra I was used to have: 1 lv2 rail gun, 1 lv2 and 1 lv1 multicannon gimballed, 1 lv1 pulse fixed. I haven't done any engineering mission. Basically what I have in my hands is: a bunch of millions, a fight mood and I want to have fun :)

@@alberto3278 I will suggest the Krait Mark 2! It has a lot of optional space to put cargo, or hall reinforcements. It also has two medium and 3 large hardpoints. It can also launch Fighters if you ever decide you want one of them. Its shields aren't bad, it's armors really good and it's still has a pretty good jump range and it's very maneuverable. As far as my personal opinion for weapons on that ship, on the medium points do gimbal multi-cannons, and gimbal burst lasers on the large. Burst lasers are stronger than pulse lasers at level 3, but depending on engineering could change that. Me personally, I'm not a fan of fixed weapons, but then again gimbal also have their negatives. The python is good, I had one for a long time, but I wouldn't trade my krait back in for the python.
@@mistakejakegaming4197. I don't know yet about fixed or gimballed. Like I'm ok with fixed lasers and railgun but I got problem with multicannons when I'm shooting at agile ships like eagles and vultures. I'll discover my best choice with practice I guess. The krait will be then, I just hope to don't blow up too many times or I will be force to do another big exploration trip soon :D. Thank you very much for the exhaustive answer :)
I can’t do combat , even against the computer. The computer is a fantastic pilot, I can barely find the damn star. I can’t even get the bad guys in front of me I had just a bit more money than you allowed yourself so I had a few more upgrades, I think. I see it no where it’s explained clearly, I don’t really understand the letters and numbers. I’m guessIng higher numbers and higher letters are better? So a 1D is better than a 1E? Is a 2E better than a 1D? It’s confusing. Aren’t you supposed to shoot the leading reticle? I was trying an illegal black box salvage, threat 2. Bad guys shredded my shields in about 3 seconds and the hull soon after. I never even got one in front of me. I know the basics of that radar, but I usually cannot actually get something above or below me in target and they just whip around me and I’m toast So threat level = number of bad guys? You get all this info in this game, and almost none of it is explained. And yes I did the tutorials several times
Technically it hasn't really changed too much over the years it's still about the same. Bounty hunting is worth more than conflict zones, that has always been the case far as I know. As far as changes in values I have never noticed a difference from game release to how it is now.
Really starting to think this game is shit. How am i supposed to battle ANY ship if its more maneuverable than me, hell i cant even turn around fast enough to hit anything, wtf man
I get it on the negativity - may I suggest omitting your head shot from the videos, because seeing you talk doesn't add anything to the content. Also being naturally suspicious, it makes me think that this is more about promoting yourself, than actually helping beginners.

Thanks for this video. As a new player videos like this are a huge help!
hi man, you put up some good points in this vid, but half way through the vid I didn't hear you mention THE MOST IMPORTANT BEGINNER RULE - dont fly anything you cant afford to lose 🙄 please pass this message on to your watchers, community of people who trust you etc. 😉
o7
That is a good point! I will make sure and do that.
Just bought this game looking forward to playing it thanks for making a noob video :)
Thank's for sharing your knowledge and experience. It's highly appreciated. Don't waste your time on idiots.
Great vid, I would like to point out that you weren't including the exchange prices or sale prices that would have given you a bit more money to push around. But this vid helped me a ton!
Low key you look like adam sandler ngl also thanks for the informative video. New to the game excited to get going after this! Keep it up!
He looks like one of my supervisors to me!
Awesome videos - thank you 😊
Now close to the end of the year i got my viper mk3 outfit it for some combat near 400credits and i make my first million for about one 40 min gameplay with the new pach that doubles the credits
Love that they buffed combat payouts, I just gotta get better equipment for my ship now! I started playing when Epic Games released it for free and have a Federal Assault Ship with about 10 million credits to burn!! Engineering seems important but I've only just begun using one of them.. need to find the guy that does weapons so I can work on the Vulture I got but the heat is so hard to manage..
@@blakeirvin3011 to unlock tod the blaster mc Quinn you need to get some Bounty's first and when you find him you need to deliver him 100.000 credits worth of Bounty
@@nikolaossofos4282 Right on, I've done some bounties already! Should be easier after I do some outfitting with the 10mill I have now.
@@blakeirvin3011 look i dont know a lot but i think 10 mil is enough to buy an kobra mk3 and fully upgrade this for combat or an vulture with a lot of upgrates butt not fully and a grade and you need to consider heat and power problems
"We could put one D-class on."
The foundation agrees
yessss
Good work, nice vid all round.
Crystal clear English, thanks!
I feel sorry for him it's sounds like he's been through a lot of negativity
Thanks it's really help me. I'm new to the game currently using cobra mk 3.
Hey man I’m new to elite dangerous love this vid also in isolation this is real life for me haha

@@samuelbird7151 fantastic. Look forward to you joining. have a excellent day Cmdr
Awesome video great tips. That's what I'm talking about!
Also once I ditched the sidewinder I tried to always have enough insurance cashflow at all times
LOL. You cleared the air then started with "As you can see, I am flying the Cobra mark 3..." and I had to laugh. Most noobs looking at that ship won't have a clue what ship it is till you tell them. I can recognize a few ships but most of the smaller ships all look alike to me.
this is verry helpful thanks alot im struggle about when im going to use my weapon my oxygen level are getting empty
The kill warrant scanner is legit if any station has an assassination on the bounty you will get it I got +95,000 credits when I handed it in
I'm glad you enjoyed the video I hoped it helped you out. :)
Probably you can get away with down classing the FSD to 1 if you are hunting RES in the same system. Might help with Eagle power management problems. I often travel in a long distance jump ship and transfer the other ships I need. If you do that it shouldn't matter that you have 0.1 ly jump range :P
what if you just start out with a sidewinder and go into cobat in case you die you dont want to lose anything?
What about the box of tissue paper you are given at the beginning of the game? Can you do a video on how to kill small bugs with it?
i think your doing great! the vids helped me.
"Were going to pretend we have *only* 600,000 credits"
*Me with 10,000 credits* :-C

thx alot! o7 commander
Thank you!
Thank you, you helped me get an anaconda in my first day and a half!
Thank you

Thanks really helpfull
@@mistakejakegaming4197 Thanks man! I'll try that.
how do you see if a ship is wanted?
A kill warrant scanner will let you know if they're wanted in other systems. Otherwise, just lock on to the target and let it finish its scan. And in the bottom left box it will tell you if they're wanted or not.
I prefer to fly smaller, lighter ships so I don't pursue the big ones. Which makes the game a bit goal less. So I make up my own goals.
I wish FDEV would put in some small high-value ships.
I agree! I actually also think it's more fun to be in a smaller or medium ship especially while fighting.
thanks i subbed.
Is there a place to go for beginners to fight. I tried some places and I literally have died so many times! Their weapons seem to obliterate me and mine take so long to get them down 😂🤦♂️
okay but how do you turn so fast, most of my dogfights are me turning towards the enemy. while they're blasting my ass
I'm in the same boat..trying to get into this but I'm sure the experience difference is to vast
hi, nice video. i have an advice to ask... i got few hours flying with my cobra mk3 training myself with bounty hunting and conflict zone.
Let me know exactly what type of ship you're thinking of, and all be able to give you a way better advice lol.
www.alpha-orbital.com/elite/ship-list/
I'm going to link this website here.
@@mistakejakegaming4197 ps I don't know if It could be useful but I bought one python time ago that I wanted to use for mining, trading and who knows witch other things can do it. I read before to buy it that it was ok for a lot of stuffs. Like no the best in any of them but still good
@@alberto3278 I will suggest the Krait Mark 2!
More videos. My ship is trash xD
I can’t do combat , even against the computer. The computer is a fantastic pilot, I can barely find the damn star. I can’t even get the bad guys in front of me
I had just a bit more money than you allowed yourself so I had a few more upgrades, I think.
I know the basics of that radar, but I usually cannot actually get something above or below me in target and they just whip around me and I’m toast
So threat level = number of bad guys?
You get all this info in this game, and almost none of it is explained. And yes I did the tutorials several times
haters gonna hate, dont worry keep up the good work =)
is combat worth in 2020? Does it give enough money?
Technically it hasn't really changed too much over the years it's still about the same. Bounty hunting is worth more than conflict zones, that has always been the case far as I know. As far as changes in values I have never noticed a difference from game release to how it is now.
@@mistakejakegaming4197 ok. Thanks.👍
Two full minutes to say this is your first day on the internet.... Dude... at least give us a shorcut to 2:30 to not have to listen to that
Really starting to think this game is shit. How am i supposed to battle ANY ship if its more maneuverable than me, hell i cant even turn around fast enough to hit anything, wtf man
OMG your video is soooo bad... I learned so much :)
Umm okay. It's been a long day. I don't know if you're joking, or if you're actually being serious lol.
But thanks for the comment!
I think?
Yes joking nice video
Lol it’ll be ok bro

I get it on the negativity - may I suggest omitting your head shot from the videos, because seeing you talk doesn't add anything to the content. Also being naturally suspicious, it makes me think that this is more about promoting yourself, than actually helping beginners.
we don't give a crap about your comments responses, stick to the topic. I have a diamond explorer and just want to learn some low risk combat.
