Few changes. Do *NOT* skimp on life support. Get the A rated life support ASAP. Any pilot who's ever had a canopy breach will tell you that you'll thank the extra time. Also, on larger ships, Bi-weave shields tend to out perform prismatic or A rated shields in extended firefights.
I hate to say it, but I highly disagree. A rated Life Support gives you like 25 minutes of oxygen. Most of the time at the REZ for specifically bounty hunting, you're maybe 5 minutes away from the station. Life support isn't worth the extra power and credits, especially as synthesis can give you oxygen refills really cheaply.
@@SamHarrisonWordVomit true, how ever you where talking to a Ghost of the past, maybe Oxygen Synthesis wasnt a thing back in his days? anyway, the extra time a D-Rated life support gives you together with being prepared and have a good chunk of mats for synthesis will give you more than an actual A-rated one.
I use a 1D Module reinforcement on the Viper Mk IV and find that it is plenty enough for me. Most I would do is a class 2D. A good tactic to do to even avoid losing shields for as long as you can, keep boosting past your enemy. The Viper is not a turn fighter, it’s a jouster. Be sure to take advantage of the vertical thrusters and thrust downwards as you pass and begin to turn. You want to begin the turn right when the enemy passes over you. Your goal here is to keep them in your sights as long as possible.
A beginners guide for beginners with a billion credits.... nice all the same :)
Whats the problem. I got my first billion in this game on diamonds at the day 5.
Yeah just run around and wait for wanted people to drop to 40% and shoot em
Just started the game 3 days ago, got a Cobra Mk 3 worth 2 mil now with all the stuff Ive put on it AND I just started unlocking Engineers. Creds are easy to get.
Been playing for a week and I have a fdl with 25 million right now, though the event did help
@@riggermortisfpv526 how do you get so much then, what did you do
I specifically like to use a hauler for bounty hunting, only one small weapon slot is optimal if you have a bounty so your friends can hunt you down and get your bounty as easily as possible.
No, but seriously, I personally recommend having Bi-Weave shield generators and module and hull reinforcements instead of A-rated shields and shield cell banks, as SCBs tend to overheat your ship pretty quickly, either damaging your ship or depleting your heatsinks which you might want to use for running from your enemies if they outgun you.
Also, go for slightly more module reinforcement than hull, especially with a bigger ship, because you can very much continue fighting once your shield is gone, that will come back. (faster with a bi-weave, and SCBs don't do anything if your shield is gone)
Module reinforcements mean that your modules don't get destroyed as easily, which is especially important for
your power plant (if that is destroyed, you're dead),
your drives (if those are destroyed, you're a sitting duck), your weapons (leaving you jumping away as only option) or
your canopy (you lose the HUD part directly in front of you and oxygen starts depleting, eventually killing you).
Number one priority for utility slots is always a heatsink. It will
A: prevent you from death by overheating, which can happen if you use high thermal load weapons like beam lasers, railguns or plasma accelerators
B: lower your heat signature, which is what sensors use to scan your ship and to lock gimballed weapons on. If you have a smaller heat signature, enemies are less likely to hit you.
DO NOT
Fly without rebuy. I recommend more than one rebuy as well, so if you get destroyed and need to fly somewhere, you still have rebuy in case someone destroys you again.
Engage a wing of enemies alone. Even if you just bought a cobra and think, "hah, that wing of three sideys is no match for me!" You're wrong, and they will at least strip your shields. Wait until the entire wing is fired upon by police forces or go bounty hunting in a wing yourself. I lost my corvette to that arrogant mistake a few times myself.
Engage any wanted NPC without considering their rank. NPC combat rank in E:D is representative of how well they can aim, fly, and how well-built their ship is. An elite sidewinder may well be a bigger threat than a novice eagle/cobra.
Do 3D sensors require red and blue glasses?
I NEED ANSWERS DAMMIT!
Yes, deffinatley
No, but they only work if you are playing in VR.
@@소부선각역정차 it was a joke.
Yes
Lovely video. I hate those videos that goo super speedy.. finally someone who can communicate. Good pacing.
Nice one. :)
After watching this earlier today, I put the FDL away and got the MkIV back out. Something about it makes it really enjoyable to fly; I don't think it's stats do it justice. It's great with a pair of plasma cannons or flechette rounds for combat/piracy! And plenty of slots for equipment.
Just started this game and I am overwhelmed and lost with the lack guiding the game doesn't give you. I like it though. Thanks for making my life a little easier with this
Watch the training videos, and do the training missions until you have basic flight and map stuff down. that helps a lot.
I like that about the game. "Welcome" to space. Here's a shitty spaceship. Figure it out, have fun, try to not die often.
This game would suck a lot if it held your hand at all.
Keep at it and remember that the game is based on the comunity witch is why the community is the onr making guides
Thats the idea, I mean it's pretty overwhelming, BUT it makes you more attached to the game in the longtime, more memories, more personal interest in it. You're already lookig for info, thats good ;).
This also makes players make content about the game and so, male it grow more.
Very good video. Informative and to the point.
Thanks for your video, good to understand why you chose those moduals and just "Fit this and that". o7
Helped a lot :) thanks for the guide.
The almost exact same build I used for my Viper. Earnt millions with it, add some tasty engineering to it and it’s a beast.
PK F how can you earn milions from bounties? Pls tell
Vodka Let's play easily stick around a Rez and make kills each time I chalk up mill or so cash it in, don’t want to lose the money. Rinse and repeat, the better your combat rank the better the payouts for the ships you’ll encounter. Some systems seem to pay better than others but this shifts with the systems positioning in the BGS. Best way to cash in is travel to a CgpG system where there is a bounty mission for cleaning up wanted ships that’s an easy win, wing up with some other players, there’s usually a Corvette or Anaconda owning player that will happily have you buzzing around. One session I pulled in 15 mill, more than the Conda I was winged with due to my speed at getting there before he did.
My little bullet magnet kept the bigger targets busy while he holed them, win win.
PK F oh ok, what is the station that he is oufitting viper?
This is why I like small ships. With a build like this, you've pretty much got yourself a hyperspace capable, larger sized starfighter.
I found out that on my cobra mark 3 using 2 plasma accelerators and 2cannons or multi cannons works wonders you can get shields down super easy and they do lots of damage to hull, plasma accelerators are fixed however so you have to lead your shots and it requires a little getting used to
I've been using turret pulse lasers on both small hard points with a gimballed beam laser and a turret multi cannon for the medium hard points. I also use a 3b shield generator with a shield booster. Keeps me pretty protected for a while even after I run out of ammunition for the multi cannon.
I wouldn't skimp on the life support too much. I once had my canopy blown out. Made it to an outpost with 30 seconds to spare. I upgraded my life support after that. It was the stock life support on a diamondback. Don't remember which Diamondback.
I doubt it matters which one to be fair. Diamondback canopies should come with warning labels taped all around it that say “canopy may blow out. Caution.” As a rule of thumb any ship that has a huge canopy should not have life support skimped on.
@@TheGeoCheese of course now I've visited the crystal shard sites twice now and have enough material for 80 life support synthesizes
Krait mkII is an excellent Bounty Hunter as well
LHS 20, Ohm City. 2 light seconds from resource sites, 45 from HazRez. I've been hunting here for a few days and made BANK, the station has decent to good modules. It's only 5 jumps from Sol in a 10 Ly range ship (I think it's 70 light years from Sol or around that)
It's where I ground out most of my bounties at the start!
I just got few millions there when i started the game. Its a good place to visit with wings
I do my BH at Luyten's Star, fair amount of ships and modules at Ashby City. No HazRez but the authority vessels help destroy vessels
I’m there right now, was getting a 4A shield generator for my Cobra MK III.... hmmm. Time to kill!
In my experience the chaff module against npcs sucks when compared to how well it seems to work for them. I've noticed that my ship will still be expelling chaff fragments and a larger ship not pointing directly at me starts shooting at me with no scrambled aiming at all. What I see is that they stop shooting for few seconds but start up again well before that module is done operating.
In my opinion I'm better off with another point defence, as they work against limpets and mines as well, or a shield booster.
Just finding the game in 2021 and alien an upgraded version of this build to the cheiftan....nasty
I personally prefer to have one medium and one small beam lasers and one medium and one small multicannon, with the lasers on one side and the multicannons on the other. I find having two small beam lasers do not take down enemy shields quickly enough.
I tried bi-weaves after doing some combat in a fighter. Thought to myself, hey if they're kinda like this in something nimble like an eagle or viper3 I can definitely see their purpose if I have a strong hull. Nope. All they did was die on me quick, drain the sys because everything was on eng/wep, and required extra pip management wich is a pain for me as I'm on a console using an Xbox controller. Went back to traditional shields pretty quickly. Yet I hear good things about them, so there must be something to them.
Nobody thought of shutting down modules you don’t use and the priority’s system for power management , as well as using a specific preset for the kill warrant scanner so you don’t overload your ship . If your weapon hardpoints arent deployed they don’t draw power .
How you got your fire groups set up?
Hello. What’s the name of that track in the background?
I'd not bother with the FDS for bounty hunting: your guns are under your nose so you don't get much visibilty (you will tend to come up under a ship because you can see out the top, meaning the ship will be above the nose.
where do you buy all of this?, have not found how to buy weapons after several hours
Made my millions grinding out Wing bounties, such a funnier way to make money...especially with friends.
I was following your steps with the viper mk 3 but I’m over my power usage..
I was gonna ask if higher rated Kill Warrant Scanners get you more profit, or do they just have more range than the lower-rated KWSs?
more range is it
Im new to the game and building a Bounty hunter build, thanks so much for video. I have a question. When I am outfitting, I have a Viper Mk4 and the shield generator only goes to 3A, how to I get 4? I noticed you have more options than me, is this a level thing? Steller body scanner option is not on mine....etc. I am in a high tech system and station.
Different modules are available at different locations, high tech systems with a high population is normally a good bet
@@CMDRPLATER thank you so much, I had a feeling that was it.
I know everybody says the Sidewinder is crap, but what if I feel like engineering the crap out of it? How far can she actually go?
just go with the pvp build you win the most fights with, put a yuri grom rocket on it and pray they run away too late because you definitely cannot stop a player with shields
I love my little sidewinder, sometimes I take him for a couple of spins around asteroid fields and between the rigging of stations because he is so Diddy and cute!
Im assuming A rated stuff is better than C/D/G/B ect...
Worth mentioning any module you buy (not ships) can be sold for the exact same amount you bought it for. So only upgrade things when you need to. (For instance, don't buy the biggest power plant, get it last, and the smallest/cheapest one that has enough capacity)
I like this guide as a new player to the game but referring to it as a guide for new players is far from what I'm seeing you buy, considering some of the parts are over a mil. Will refer to this at a later stage in the game when I have more money though.
every bounty hunt ship build guide seems to mention fitting a kill warrant scanner and I just don't get it. with the amount of extra time you spend flying between 30 different systems to collect the bounties from all those different factions, you could earn 5x as much just staying in the RES without using the warrant scanner.
You just head to the nearest interstellar factors rather than flying around.
@@CMDRPLATER that's a good point, i never even consider ISF since they tax 25% of your vouchers but I might actually have another go with the warrant scanner now and see what different it makes to my money / hour
Would a full pulse laser build be good if you put 4 energy into weapons and have a heat sink launcher? That way you get to shoot them for a long time
It depends. If you go to an extraction site and allow other ships to do the heavy beating and you just leach off the bounties then you can get away with a single small pulse... but if you wish to do the killing yourself, then a full puls/burst/beam fit will not be enough. Lasers are the weapons that does one of the least DPS, but they are effective against shields. Also they drain your capacitor real fast and yes, while you can use heat sinks during an emergency the number of sinks you can carry is very limited and having to go back to station ever 10 minutes because you have run out of heat sinks would be annoying.
Go with a mix, or try different options out and see what fits you.

I miss my old Viper Mk IV
get a new one and join platers stock small ship PvP on monday, 16.04.2018 8:00 pm BST ;)
I couldn’t help but notice he didn’t mention asp, which is what I have been using. I am not saying he missed one, actually I want to know why it didn’t make it to the list. I am trying to get better at the whole dog fight thing and I am getting fed up with my seemingly awful maneuverability- or probably just awful piloting on my part.
The asp isn't really built for combat, speed and maneuverability let it down. Plus for the price of it you can outfit a smaller ship to pack more punch. The asp x is a great exploration ship for both the bubble and deep space though. Neither the asp scout nor the asp x designed with combat in mind.
I've been flying the aspx most of the time. It's a really good exploration ship, but I tried using it as a mining ship and i quickly found out that this ship might as well not have brakes, it's so bad at counterthrusting. Horrible agility. Something you don't notice when exploring with it, because you're never out of supercruise. Would definitely not recommend using it for combat.
I didn’t even know about subsystems.
do you think the mamba works with it too ?
Yeah in a way
what viper is this
1:38 the video jumps right in to outfitting a ship but you don't actually say, "This is the..." I'm guessing this is the Viper Mk. III?
Yes it is
He's outfitting a Viper Mk IV, not a Mk III.
I'd advice new players to stay away from cobra mk IVs and viper MKIVs as well as too many reinforcement packages, as without God like skills or luck you need manouverability to survive... The reinforcements don't save you long enough to get your shields back up or make a "gtfo manouver", and it is more intelligent to save money, manouverability, speed and the Rebuy screen counter from running outta digits (lol) for good!
so what's the choice than? cobra and viper are the most affordable fighters for beginners. and if you know your movement a little bit and trying to sniff the bigger ships( like those anacondas) asses, there is a decent chance for surviving.
OY. No Kraint Mk 2?
cutter with an 8a prismatic shield is what im gonna go for

Yep, back in the day!
There used to be two kinds. The "Regular" and the "Advanced". The regular one only scanned out to a certain range, while the advanced version does what the current D-scanner does, which is ping the entire system.
No Kill warrant scanner for bounty hunting ? I thought they were a given really.
Not really as it can leave you with a bunch of small out of system bounties which take longer to collect than they are worth
I will try you options! With viper mk4,i died 2 times against a bounty who have a team of 3 ships. I shot first, but they very fast kill me. So i think my armour and shield are verry weak. I've been doing standard missions to build up rep in Nanomam, which can also give you federation ranking, some of the easiest missions with decent payouts and mats for engineering, which you WILL want to build on as you go, are planetary scan missions, here's what to do with ANY ship even the Adder, Fit a Planetary Vehicle Hangar and don't for get to buy the SRV, go to missions board and pick 5 or 6 Planetary Scan missions or Data Acquisition missions, Go to the System, scan Nav Beacon, Go to Planet wait for the placement of bases icons to show on the planet at about 3 to 5 Mm out (little Circles) find the search area one or the base target , land outside of 2k from the target, SRV to the base, scan the target device, you'll see TARGET in the left window when you target the right device in the base, go back to ship, IF you are wanted. find a Low Security system, Green on the Galaxy map, go to a station there pay the fine to clear wanted status, Rinse and Repeat until you have enough credits to buy the ship and gear you need to do what YOU WANT to do in the game. On some occasions, as you drive to and from your target, you'll see the green icons on your SRV radar that indicate outcrops of resources, another easy way to collect mats for engineering. In a short time you'll build up your rep with each faction in the home station (In Nanomam, Gresley Dock) and with the Federation and you can do the Galactic Power stuff there too for the Federation, along with gathering mats and data to build up your engineering supplies. This can also be done from the Empire Base station for rep with Empire and with Alliance from their base station. For sure, it's good fun to fly, I have a build I use that has 4 frags and a plasma accelerator on, it wrecks medium and large npcs.
For beginners, learn to control your ship. You will want something that can get behind the target and or get out of their aim quickly.
I use a engineered Vulture with railgun and pulse laser, most enemies (PVE) get shot down.
Vultures are a pain in the ass to engage too, regardless of what ship you're in. If I'm in a small none engineered ship? Better think again unless AI is at a level of competent or below. In a medium sized ship against a skilled AI it's gonna be a tough fight requiring at least one SCB. In a large ship they're a thorn in my ass I can't ignore.
