Push the "INFO" button on the back of the camera to see those Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO details, etc. so you don't have to press the shutter halfway down.
This is exactly what I needed! I’ve been shooting with my t7i for years and could not figure out why it auto adjusted the light the way it did. You solved my issue in less than 5 minutes. Thank youuuuu!!
So glad to hear it!!! Btw - I'm doing a free video class tomorrow that I bet you'd love! www.amandahorvath.site/register Would love to have you join (hopefully you see this in time 😁)
It's been a while since you've made this however for the people that are curious. If you want to keep the settings up instead of constantly pressing the shutter button you simply press info. Press it a few times and it'll give you histograms etc. Just chose whichever is best for you.
Update: Press "Info" instead of half way pressing the shutter. Also ignore the "low end camera" comment. What I mean is that it's the lower tier level in the Canon series (which it is) - I just worded it in the wrong way. This doesn't mean it isn't a great camera!! You can get a great image out of this camera!! I'm all about using the gear that you have so don't let that comment turn you off. I hope your day is filled with love and abundance instead of hate 🙏 so consider that before dropping a hate comment, I'm a real person on the other end of this video.
I had already adjusted all my setting but can’t get my camera to record video. How do you actually shoot the video. Sorry if this is too elementary, I’m completely new to DSLR cameras.
you need to press the button with the camera icon on the back of the camera, you can see there is a red dot near it. This is the default button to record video. If you would rather use the black trigger to record video, you would need to enable that in the settings. 1. you want to press on the tab labeled "shooting settings" with a camera icon below it, tap on the "okay" on the touch screen. 2. tap on the tab labeled "4" 3. double tap on the setting labeled "btn function" 4. you will see 4 settings: you want enable one of the two settings on the right, i would recommend using the second to last setting. it looks like [AF/🎥] 5. once this setting is selected, you want to tap on the set/ok button on the bottom right of the screen. 6. half-press on the black trigger to go back into shooting mode. With this new setting, if you go into video mode, you can full-press on the trigger to get it to record video. This does not disable the default button for video, you just now have two buttons for video.
Oh my gosh, this was so helpful! I have the Canon T6i and I literally turn it on, move the dial to video and shoot 😂😂 I need to sit and watch this again step by step and set mine up! Saving!
Do you know what external lavalier/lapel mics would work on the T7i? Interested in a dual / interview setup. I'm looking for both wired and wireless options, as I'm flying to a video shoot and don't want top be stuck if the wireless option sucks

I wish you had zoom in on this more, like using a secondary camera to really give us a close up. I'm flying a bit blind bc this camera is too far away.
Screwed up and Bought a Canon T5i with the KIT lenses to do Video. Worst Decision I ever made (For my type of Video) TOY Radio Control Model planes. The only way for this is to Zoom full telephoto press auto focus on a very distant object and Set focus to manual. Now every thing within 15' will stay in perfect focus. Every thing but the background. That's takes a PARFOCAL Lens witch every TRUE VIDEO camera has. I want every little Part of some unfortunate pilots airplane in perfect focus as the Pieces come flying out of that 'SMOKK'N HOLE he just made with his $10.000 TOY airplane. So I Spent another $2000+ for a Canon AX-30 and 2 months they came oyt with a 4K version. Can't win.ruclips.net/video/qdZ8FydtSEI/видео.html
Great video! To show the settings on the screen, you have to hit the INFO button, next to the MENU button. No need to hold down the shutter. I have a T6i but planning to buy a Panasonic GH5, which you recommended in another video. I need to start shooting in 4K. I would pay for a video about the GH5 once I have it.
GREAT TIP! Glad someone commented about that because I was dumbfounded haha. I loooove my Gh5 so that's def an option. I feel like I've already recorded that and shelved it so maybe I need to resurface it. How cool that you're up leveling your gear : ) 4k is awesome!
If this wasn't a such a "low end" review she would have known to press the info button to see the exposure details without having to hold the button. Let me guess she owns a $5000 camera...
Fortunately I seldom use the video on my canon SL1. Your video is the easiest to understand however....I hit the recording and it goes for about 5 sec and turns off....??? whats up w/ that? Card is formated and of good size.....
One more setting. If you are going to use a remote to start and stop video recording, don't forget to set the Drive Mode to Self Timer/Remote. (It's also in the Quick Menu.)
Good tutorial on the SETTINGS for shooting video, but your video is mis-titled. You never actually show how to shoot video with the camera, only how to modify the settings.
That was an incredibly helpful video, thank you so much! I have been a photographer all my life but moving into video using my Rebel, well, I have just been doing everything on auto but it is time to level up. Now I can!
Once in video mode, how do I actually start the camera recording because every time I try to start the video recording with the button it actually takes a picture instead of starting the video?? Please help. Thanks heaps.

Some cameras can't record past 30 minutes. I'd recommend just hitting record again halfway through and hiding the edit somehow. If you could use your camera + a phone for your second camera then you could cut between the cameras to hide the edit. It's inconvenient but better to have the full interview! Just warn the guest ahead of time.
Hi Amanda. Great video. I have a question... I record a lot of outdoor music concerts and I want to start shooting with my Rebel T5i. What video settings would you recommend (ISO, aperture, etc.) for shooting outdoor music video? I'm also planning to use the same mic that you feature in your video. Thanks!

Low End Camera O.O ? Lucky YOU that can afford it lol I'm currently trying to save up to buy that Camera lol

Yeah, that comment was a little too fucked up!
