    I liked this camera so much, that I bought a second body. If you choose your lenses wisely, you can rival lengths of a full framed camera, i.e. a 28mm (X 1.6 =44.8mm) would be your 50 mm, and your 50mm
    (X 1.6=80mm)would be your portrait lense! It's an excellent camera for both vudeography & photography!

    T7i (800d) was my first camera since high school for about 4 years and still is today, I got into photography back when my father bought a t6i (750d) back in Vietnam. Now when I started to study in the US, my hobby gets more curious when I got my own Canon DSLR. I took this thing starting with a 18-55mm kit, 55-250mm, and 50mm f1.8 throughout all the seasons in Minnesota, even outside in the snowing winter, I just gotta be extra careful to take out SD card and battery everytime I go into warm place!
    It still working perfectly as I hone my skill, making great memories and art. And yes upgrading your lens will worth 10x more than upgrading body because it can expand your skill than an expensive body of which I got myself a 70-200mm f4 is and 16-35mm f4 is, and kept my nifty 50 . I might think of the 90d as an upgrade but this is forever my favorite camera and definitely a great way to start transitioning to pro-grade camera when possible. I myself still have skeptical of mirrorless since they are electronic and pop up more issue than mechanical.

    As a beginning photographer, the T7i camera does what I need it to do. Still like using the 18-55mm kit lens that came with it. I also budgeted the 50mm, 24m prime along with the 10-18mm wide angle. I added the 55-250mm tele after I read the reviews. All told these inexpensive lenses cover just about everything I need without breaking the bank. Thanks for info regarding the flash setting. What a pain that was..lol

  • @gregorypecaut7164
    @gregorypecaut7164 Год назад +2

    The worst part about starting with the T7i is that when you finally go to upgrade, you have to really spend some money. The 80d is an upgrade, but mostly for being better built and weather resistant. So the next step up is really a 7d Ii or a 90d. And when you go to buy uhs 2 SD cards, you get smacked with some pricey cards. On the other hand you may move up to full frame. And then only your EF lenses can be used. A 6D isn't cheap either, but less than moving into the R line.
    I love slr's and dslr's, and so I have a T7i . But also a 5D and a 6D. But to upgrade my T7i, I will get a 90D, and that's pricey.
    The T7i could be the best aps-c camera you ever own, and you won't regret it. But do get some lenses for it. The kit lens is not top quality and if you want better photos, you will upgrade this lens.
    As far as the 1.6 crop, if you want wide, there are plenty of lens choices for asp-c at 18mm and below. I love my Sigma 16mm. And aps-c EF-S lenses cost less than full frame EF lenses.

      I wouldn't consider this an ideal choice for video, but any of the cameras that perform better for video also cost more. My camera for video is a Sony ZV E10, and there are better cameras out there than this, it's just the prices.
      For good video you need great tracking, and Canon cameras can do it, but a used 80D would be a better choice, or if you could swing it a 90D. But both cost more. And you still need lenses. A mirror less camera will almost always beat a DSLR for video. So look at the R series.
      If you're only shooting a few short clips on vacation, then the DSLR cameras can probably fill the bill, but if you want to make documentaries or short films, go mirror less and make life easier.
      I started with range finder cameras and when I moved up to an SLR I was in heaven. Being so stuck in my ways, I love DSLR cameras, and just can't get into mirror less for photography. Video I chose the Sony because of their auto focus, tracking, size, weight and price. If the R series Canon cameras and lenses were a better price I would have went with one of the R cameras for video.

    • @JosephMartin
      @JosephMartin 2 года назад

      The overheating isnt an issue until you get to 4k 60fps. But it is a pain there. I would still buy it now because it’s perfect for anything up to 4k 24fps, and it’s an excellent still camera. The use cases I wouldnt recommend it for are wedding or product videography cause those rely on high framerates

    Autofocus is *very* sensitive to what lens you're using. The 18-55 IS 2 that comes with the T7 and T7i sucks. Swap on a different lens, like the 18-55 IS (1, the OG) and it's way way better. A higher quality lens will also yield major improvements.

I would love to buy a canon r 5 and even better the r3 but don’t have the money.

    • @gregorypecaut7164
      @gregorypecaut7164 Год назад

      Get good glass first. R glass is much higher priced than used EF-S glass. And adapting lenses gets old fast, plus some R series cameras down grade their performance when not used with native glass.
      The T7i is a great camera, especially for the price, but the kit lens holds it back. A good prime 24mm lens is not too expensive and will inspire your love for the T7i. A good 24-70 is lens, f/2.8 if you can afford it, will make your T7i perform like you never thought it could.
      Yes these lenses can cost more than the camera, but cheap glass on the best body won't take as good a picture as good glass on a cheap camera body.
      And equipment is only half of the recipe for a good picture. The other half is the photographer.

      Kit lens (18-55) should be fine for tiktoks/reels. It depends on the content you make but phone cameras can sometimes even be better than pro cameras for vertical content. Regarding vertical shooting- just hold the camera sideways to make a vertical frame and then rotate 90° in post :)
