A news report on BBC1 London recently stated that 80% of the products made for black women, contain cancer-causing properties? So what exactly is going on? many of the ingredients found to be endocrine disruptors cause diseases that a higher proportion of black women contract in relation to their white counterparts.
The US study from the Silent Spring Institute was conducted to narrow down the sources that cause black women and children to be subject to internal body disruptions that relate to the products they may use.
The study found that out of the 18 products tested, 11 of them contained ingredients banned for use in the EU!
Root2tip Founder, Hairducation expert, writer and Cosmetic scientist, Sal who started making natural hair care products to help regrow her hair, (after a bout of hairloss)and help other women and children with hair loss and general hair maintenance wants to inform and spread hairducation.
As consumers we are unaware of the ingredients, this short docufilm will give you an idea of what to look for.
We look briefly at Parabens, Phthalates, Siloxanes (silicone) Placenta, BHT, MIT and more.
Why do black hair products cause cancer, what ingredients affect the genitals of unborn boys if the pregnant mother is using ' product A' containing such ingredients?
    Hormones in HAIRCARE?
What is that about? Sal researched this subject in 2011, a study uncovered the facts that, young black girls in America, as young as 3 or 4 years old were entering puberty prematurely. The children were growing breasts and pubic hair, they were watched for 8 weeks and the disruption was linked to the ingredients in their haircare products, namely, placenta, interfering with the endocrine system in their little bodies. When the children stopped using the products the symptoms of puberty went away!
    Manufacturers of toxins:
We take you into the local hairshop, and show you 6 or 7 brands that formulate products for children with ingredients banned for use in the EU and also in the UK.
We looked at the popular brand Curly Kids HAIRCARE and discovered a known toxin, MIT... or better known as:
METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE, A TOXIC INGREDIENT THAT COULD CAUSE NERVE DAMAGE.
The biggest concern with this ingredient came to light when researchers conducted two recent laboratory studies on rat brain cells and found that MIT caused damage to those cells. The researchers stated, “A brief exposure to methylisothiazolinone, a widely used industrial and household biocide, is highly toxic to cultured neurons….” The scientists went on to state that these toxic effects had been reported previously, and because of their widespread use, the consequences of chronic human exposure need to be evaluated. What was most concerning about this study was that the exposure was only 10 minutes long.
    The Truth on Parabens:
Of greatest concern is that parabens are known to disrupt hormone function, an effect that is linked to increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive toxicity,” reports the non-profit Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (CSC). “Parabens mimic estrogen by binding to estrogen receptors on cells
    Pthalates- the danger:
In the past few years, researchers have linked phthalates to asthma, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, breast cancer, obesity and type II diabetes, low IQ, neurodevelopmental issues, behavioural issues, autism spectrum disorders, altered reproductive development and male fertility issues.

Thank you for this! I have a 2 year old daughter with curly hair, I'm going to use your products going forward hoping to set her up for a lifelong love & good care for her hair. It seems so weird that in London most black hair care products are sold by asian people and brands owned by white people.. Thank you for the work that you do! 🙌🏼

My daughter put an app on my phone for me to scan my products before I buy them. It shows how bad they are and all the chemicals listed that are bad. It also gives suggestions for replacement. I use it on everything except my snacks, I don't wanna know.

Hair Products targeted toward black consumers... Saying Black Hair products might make it seems like those products are made by black owned or managed companies. Whereas in reality, the few Black owned companies, for the most use better products with no to benign toxicity.

Thank you for your informative video that all black women should be knowledge of what is in the hair products!I am glad I got here! I am on your same level of against chemicals that has been in black hair products for years especially the perms!!! The Korean hair products stores in Philadelphia sell the poisons chemically laced hair product of any and everything to use on the natural hair to destroy and have health problems in the of every kind!!! I do not go in those stores anymore and black women go t so condition to" ready made products " and are the main consumers of those stores!!! The Koreans made millions off black people hair!!! Just think, what they do is study black people in hair care and food and clothing, that is the cleaners!!! We supposed to know our own hair types and what we need to keep it looking healthy nice and clean to grow!!! I Got sick and became chemical sensitive to'all" chemicals of body, hair products, perfumes, nail polish ,deodorant, etc in 2013! I wish I stop using hair and cleaning products long long time ago. I wear my hair natural and stop perming it in 2013 and just not to long ago stop hot combing and blow drying my hair. I wear twist out o the 2 strand twist and use homemade hair butters and oils that work with low porosity hair. I am to "LABEL" READER. ANYTHING IN THOSE STORES HAVE PRESERVATIVES AND CHEMICALS WITH 5 TO 20 LETTER WORD THAT CANNOT BE PRONOUNCE THAT THEY MAY HAVE DONE ON PURPOSE SO PEOPLE AMY NOT EVEN BOTHER TO READ THE LABEL. EVERY WOMAN OF ALL AGES PLEASE BE AWARE OF CHEMICALS IN THOSE HAIR PRODUCTS YOU USE TO ACHIEVE A BURLY TWIST OUT EVENTUALLY THERE WILL BE NO HAIR TO DO SO AND YOUR BODY WILL NOT LIKE IT.It is scary because a lot of side effects go unknown because they may look like other medical conditions that doctors do know about either. The conditions can be so mysterious of pinpointing what the problem is and where it came from.
