Governor Murphy used the pocket veto in January because his treasurer said it’s going to cost the state $5-10 million in revenue. He used the pocket veto knowing the legislature won’t have time to override his veto and consult him on where to makeup the revenue shortfall.
This time around the governor can’t use a pocket veto given there are 18 months left in the legislative session.
If Murphy vetoes it now, it will be overridden by the legislature. If Murphy takes no action, it automatically becomes law after a certain number of days. If he signs the bill, it becomes law but won’t take effect the first Monday 4 months after it becomes law.
My best friend is from upstate NY and lives in Hoboken for 22 years, He calls NJ "The Garbage State" Ironically, he lives on Garden Street.🤣
More on the procedures: A bill becomes law upon the Governor’s signature or after 45 days if no action is taken. If the House of origin
is not in session on the 45th day, the time is extended until it reconvenes.
If vetoed, a bill can become law if the Legislature
overrides the veto by a 2/3 vote. A law takes effect on the day specified in its text or, if
unspecified, the next July 4th.
It wouldnt surprise me to find out the fine print says "No tax only applies to Public Servants who buy metals." I cant think of a single Bill in the last 150 years that was done for the benefit of the people.
lol.. yeah, a unanimous vote in both legislative bodies is suspicious to me.
No taxes on bribes recd in gold
@@billfraser9731 only kilo bars for public servents....but schhh don't tell anyone
Life long NJ resident left in 2004 for NE PA love it here!
Just sent it to friends in Jersey...across the Hudson waterway. 😍😍😍😘
I can't ever see the British government lifting VAT on silver (the robbing bastards), but I can see them slapping VAT on gold (again, the robbing bastards).
I am responding to your comment verbally on a live stream at this very moment!
Is this a move to help our old friend Bob Menendez? He is in a heap of hot water right now.
Ahhh.. now, that would actually make sense, given that we're talking about crooked NJ.
@jeffnelson4489 he is known to do things shady for a kilo bar
The most encouraging part of a fiat currency. Is that we know they all return to their true value of 0.🎉
Im a NJ resident( for now) and im shocked is an understatement ! Id never expected a communist state to pull off such a move. DeSantis what are you doing in Florida???
Florida already has no tax on US constitutional silver, but Ron could go further!
In 2023 Arkansas legislature voted to stop sales tax and capital gains tax on precious metals, and the Governor signed it. Will still have to pay federal capital gains tax.
That's really cool Sal. Agree, very encouraging for the metals and, quite frankly, for America. 🇺🇲
I had to sell gold yesterday to survive (traded for fiat). My vehicle needs repairs. First time I have sold since I have been stacking.
😂😢😂😢
Young and middle-aged people live from paycheck to paycheck.
Retirees live from gold coin to gold coin. 🤣🤣
Great news for New Jersey
For a State like NJ to rescind a tax is quite shocking. There must be more to it than that.
California has the same 0% sales tax on Gold and Silver.... as long as you spend $2000! Less than $2K and it ranges between 7.75% to 10% depending on the municipality. That's one hell of a premium on bullion and bullion coins.
To me that indicates 2k is the floor moving forward.
@@nighthawk5301 Absolutely. Have to save a little longer, but not going to pay an extra 8%+. Once I get to $2K it's not that much further to a full oz. of gold. ...yet, lol
I don't have bunions Sal. Oh, a commercial. Sorry, but what about ATM taxes. It was that way in FL. Then you had to buy $500 worth of PM to avoid 7% sales tax. 🎉🐥 I know how things work in Joysey😂.
I see gold has gone up in price again over £1910 for a 1 oz Britannia.
They're buying it , they know what's coming
Maryland still has sales tax. I am in. Baltimore
Only for the "little people" though. If you spend $1,000+ on coins, bars, rounds it is tax free. So screw the working person who wants to buy a few ounces of silver a week/month, or denominational gold, but lucky old rich peeps who can spend freely. 🤬
@@k8aitch78 i'm an old rich Marylander, but i've been WORKING full-time (mostly outside construction) for over 40 years...stop hating, kid...smdh.
NJ resident silver stacker says HI .
Good morning Sal!!!
Thanks Sal! Excellent news! I feel it's only a matter of time before all the states come around to this way of thinking. I sent a of copy of this video to a representative in my state of Minnesota.

Don’t count on Murphy to do anything positive.
That's my thinking. How that doofuss became Governor is baffling.
@@phuckyu3383 majority of inner city population, they wants they welfare. They want they “benefits”.
They’ll vote for whomever will give it to them. Businesses and taxpayers will flee the state.
Murphy's Law
There's a Snooki lose on The Jersey Shore if you see it approach it with caution so that you don't have A Situation
Thank you Sal, its refreshing to hear you say 'These United States'!
It's true. I was passing through Tatooine and they were accepting ASEs for payment of debts to Jabba the Hutt
We shall see. Murphy is the worst governor we have had, even worse than Christie, which is really saying something.
Salgorithm
Thanks Sal...
Virginia has zero sales tax on "most" gold and silver coins ... though I buy Eagles (actual money), not necessarily rounds (Buffalos).
The law used to require buy $1,000.00 USD value in coins (or more), though that was dropped a few years back.
Other States are or have already done similar!
Glad to wee NJ moving in the correct direction!
Kentucky governor still makes us pay tax on precious metals also.
Good morning Sal!!
Good information here ! FJB 💕😺😺 Thank you,SAL FJB 💕😺😺
Let's hope NJ's governor can be bothered to do his job this time.
Thanks Sal for the info 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Incredible news.
Hi sal morning,#1 first 🎉
It's good to have bullion coins that are "universally" recognized...
Let’s cross our fingers. 👍
Oh, I thought you were going to talk about djt's 2 NJ liquor licenses being suspended!
What New Jersey had a sales tax on gold and silver purchases ? This is news to me and only now they decided to remove the sales tax. Its not revolutionary. I'd say New Jersey is way behind other states and even other couhtries. They should remove not only sales taxes, also remove capital gains taxes on gold and silver.
Very historical!
They've got a lot of problems
Murphy s law if something can go wrong it will
It's still New Jersey..
All states should not be taxing Gold and Silver it is the only form of real money states can make. Sometimes people don't realize how much deception is going on.

Thx Sal. Great video.and very interesting info. We need to bring Gold & Silver back into the fold. So they can be used as legal forms of transactional currency. For goods and services, like they have been for thousands of years. U ROCK Doc. 👍👀🖖👻🤘😎🎸🎶🎵
👍
How about the capital gains tax on sales?
I haven't been buying Costco's precious metals offerings since they started because it costs me almost another 7% to purchase. A $2400 gold eagle winds up costing me $2,562 currently (less my 2% costco rebate). There are better buys elsewhere without the taxes.

Boston tea party shows cowards how to deal with corrupt taxation.

I’m guessing with taxes on metals, the local bullion market is across state lines. The reason they still tax money is because it doesn’t make any sense.

Sup sal
A couple years ago Maryland decided you have to pay a sales tax on any coins, silver or gold bullion. Six cents on a dollar!
My taxes have taxes. I just went to the bank and got a weekly print out of my bank statements and there is a 33.54 (courtesy payment) wtf is that thats an ounce of silver i was robbed. Fyi i have overdraft protection so that cant be it. Thoughts?

I’m in jersey and he just wants to tax everything so I know it’s not a fluke… I’m crossing my fingers but not holding my breath…..

I live here. This state is as blue as it gets. Murphy will ignore it just like last time. Delaware and Pennsylvania are close by so I'm not sure it matters anyway.
Too little too late. I'm leaving New Jermany anyway
New Jersey is the worst place in America. It’s all run down and ugly weather with 2.26% property tax 😂
In Jersey, anything is legal, as long as you don't get caught. ~ Traveling Willberries. Other than New York, I would think New Jersey would be the last to pass such legislation. Go Jersey!
I am responding to your comment verbally on a live stream at this very moment!
Will this be referred to as "Murphy's Law"?
God no!
I hit the like button for you
Faskinating
The rich 1% are moving into metals. Of course they don't want to be taxed. I'm sure big money is being spent on lobyist
He was worried about $5 to $10 million....literally pennies relative to NJ's over revenue in the hundreds of millions.....and that's just the amount that magically goes missing every year as Murphy adds to his collection of beachfront properties.😂😂
I am responding to your comment verbally on a live stream at this very moment!
I heard that Kentucky is ending sales tax on precious metals August 1st. Anyone know for sure ?
Search my videos for Kentucky. I did one
@@SalivateMetal Ok ! Yeah, I miss a lot of videos. Seems I just do not have time to keep up with all that I want to. Thanks !@!
There is still hope for NY, although I still need to escape NY and head to a red state
Stay in the hills. Red states are full of weak men that will destroy your life for an imaginary paycheck and pension.
I’m telling you as a Delawarean who’s been around the whole country, the northeast is shitty but all in all you are far more free here believe it or not…
Ny will be red one day
Red Chinese, maybe.
thumbs up
didnt payoff the right gangsters maybe next time
So just pocket veto him if you know what I mean.
I grew up in New Jersey and lived there a lot of my life I am so glad that I moved out of that s*** hole
New Jersey is considered the armpit of America for a reason.
I want a tax refund for all the money I have paid in taxes on my G&S purchases.
Yeah, I know, it's a pipedream.
I live in NJ and have been paying tax for gold and silver forever. Personally I don’t mind because the price is always gonna be the price . It’s all relevant. If they stop the tax will prices come down because of it? I doubt it. Big silver will find another way to bilk us. 😂
Liberal logic, folks.
The tax proceeds go to premature babies in incubators. You like premature babies in incubators right?
