For those of you saying, "This is fake news, Yankee! There was never any signed petrodollar agreement!" There was an agreement signed in June of 1974, and yes it had nothing to do with currencies because the Saudis carried on selling in sterling after that. HOWEVER, there was a secret petrodollar deal between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia reached in late 1974, which promised military aid and equipment in exchange for the Kingdom investing billions of dollars of its oil-sale proceeds in U.S. Treasuries. The existence of this agreement wasn’t revealed until 2016, when Bloomberg News filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the National Archives.
IMHO (and I'm not an extreme conspiracy theorist) I believe there WAS a secret arraignment with the Saudi government to price its crude oil in dollars after the formal 1974 agreement. Later that year that the Kingdom stopped accepting the pound sterling as payment.
Since the Saudis no longer wish to abide by that agreement, whether formal or not, the US should cease providing military assistance and funding of any sort to them. Maybe the Russians will fill that void. So be it. The US no longer abides by agreements with other countries when it suits the current administration as we’ve seen with Israel. If the state of Israel suffers from that change we will know who to blame. We will rue the day when we recklessly devalued our currency for political expediency.

My reasons for buying gold and silver is completely UNrelated to inflation. Precious metals are not an inflation hedge. I bought it as a hedge against the total collapse of fiat.
On a comparative basis, gold and silver are hedges against inflation, particularly as inflation heats up to higher levels than seen in decades.
Example: in 1960, a gallon of gasoline cost a quarter. Today gasoline is $3.80-$4.00 a gallon locally and a silver quarter sells for around $5.
Same for a loaf of decent bread. Is it a perfect hedge? No, it isn't, but it is better than many other things that people have or can get.

In my lifetime (now 57 yrs old) real estate (especially farm land and water front property), SP500, NASDAQ, Bitcoin, energy stocks, art, whiskey and on and on and on all outperform gold and silver. Some try to make the argument for gold and silver from some date in the past when none of us was even alive. Foolish arguments. What is the best hedge in our lifetime and what will be the best hedge for the next decade? Will it be gold/silver? History says no. Not knockin on the stackers, I AM ONE. I invest my money in other markets, (stocks, crypto, real estate) and use those gains to buy the shiny metals to stack. Silver has yet to eclipse its ATH. If you bought it 2 years ago, 5 years ago, 8 years ago you did NOT keep pace with inflation. Your actually behind. So we agree, its not the best. Gold has not returned anything impressive either. Its your money and the landscape changes fast. You better keep up and stay informed because just buying gold/silver will NOT be enough. Sorry but that is the facts.

My grandfather owned a coin shop in the late 60s. In the early 80's when I was young he gave me a 1916D Mercury dime to someday "help with collage". I honestly forgot about it until about 5 years ago, when I dug it out and got it graded. It has an unfortunate scratch in the neck but was other wise graded "XF". Its beautiful, I have no plans to part with it.

The petrodollar was one of the ways that the US has been able to export inflation around the globe and lessen the impact at home. The other is the worlds reserve currency status. The Saudi Riyal is still pegged to the US Dollar so they still have an interest in keeping the US Dollar afloat but it is one more nail in the coffin. It should be an alarm for folks in the US, and for some it is, but the ones who can do something about it (politicians) are asleep at the wheel

Love the Yankee and Tim talks at the Coin Shop! Lately I've been partial to the $8 Canadian 1.5oz wildlife series sovereign coins. Same diameter as the regular maple leafs, just 1.5 times as thick. SD Bullion has ran a couple of specials lately with low premiums and those coins are beautiful (proof like). Any time I can get a sovereign coin for a sub $1 premium, I'm going to jump all over that deal!!!!! Also partial to 90% US "junk" silver coins for the barter potential like Tim described.

What I love is when people pull up eBay and say ( hey here it’s worth XXX ). Then you have to point out how there is three pages of ones for sale at XXX price unsold. What something is listed at is not always its value.
I buy silver for the same reason I've _ALWAYS_ bought it. As a hedge against inflation and an important barter item *_WHEN_* the bottom drops out.

Hey Yankee, come this fall in the US. There will be a war draft ages 18 to 28 who have a legal drivers license will be automatically drafted and your question how long before we go digital we’re gonna start probably in my visions 12 to 24 weeks.
Most people do not understand asking price vs selling price. Selling silver to a dealer in silver is like selling groceries to a grocery store.
I would love to buy silver but the 20% VAT and 6% mark up commission makes it too expensive here in England. All in all VAT is an EU tax and as we are not in the EU ANYMORE why should we be burdened with it😡🇫🇴

Selling your coin collections depends on timing and finding a person who is interested unless they are a more rare coin especially in higher grades . My best friend needed money and asked me to buy his Lincoln cents collection 1909 to present . Missing only the 4 keys 09s 09s vdb 14d and 31s . He asked $100 and most of them were in F12 + . I gave him more $$
I feel like junk silver is the best buy and the best to stack. Everyone knows what a US coin looks like and I think its much less likely to get a counterfeit of a dime or quarter.

The number I saw was 55% of the world's reserve currency. It was 73% in 2000. Also, Thailand and Malaysia recently got on board with the BRICS 'New Development Bank'. I think there are 59 countries in BRICS now at varying levels of membership. I think it's here to stay.
Hopefully, those nations understand that there won't be any more foreign aid sent their way from the US and probably no disaster relief either.
We'll just see how generous the BRICS countries really are when the chips are down. So far, though, they haven't been worth spit.

The discussion about the use of the USD is great. Every time a country stops using USD is more inflation coming back to the USA.
Japan has said it’s selling off a substantial sum of its USD reserves. This is a snowball starting to roll down the hill.
It’s to strengthen the Yen against the dollar and it’s not working. It’s called currency intervention. You can find an abundance of articles on Google etc…

I have stacked gold and silver for a long time nothing against that, however most of the talk will remain speculation until the chart shown reverses and the dollar is used less and less not more and more like what is happening now so it would be a disservice to people hyping people to buy PM,s when the speculative talk is like many zero hedge blogs that have been negative on the dollar for twenty plus years and many of their far right blogs just plain false. Honestly it won’t affect the dollar at this time,I will say that the federal reserve is spending way to much money and in the next decade I do believe the Dollar will collapse. Absolutely correct and since I have been watching your channel the opinion seems to have changed. I was always extremely negative on the dollar but most people couldn't foresee the end of the dollar as the global reserve. The main problem is the Eurodollar market. There is an ocean of unregulated dollars sloshing around and have been the source of global trade and financing for the past 50 years. Now, however the yuan is quickly taking over in BRICS+ countries. 80% of Russian trade is in CNY and RUB with 0% in dollars soon.
This is what happens when you throw sanctions on everyone = people aren't studio. Those eurodollars have nowhere to go except to America despite the fact the Fed didn't print them into existence in the first place - they were created by the banking system outside America. It means massive inflation is already baked in and widespread disruption or outright default of the banking system.
question is how bad inflation going to be when all those physical and digital dollars coming back home to roost, is it as bad as zimbabwe or hungary where inflation in 1946went up to 49.1 quadtrillion %. rough times ahead.

This is a good episode. Seeing that guy count his coins and not knowing the value, thinking it's worth a lot more, made me realize gold and silver coins will never be money again. Money will go digital.
It is by nature, money. When the paper derivative dies, people will learn quickly about gold and silver. That fella represents most of humanity. Those that are paying attention and preparing accordingly should be fine.

Well, well, Once again that Yankee fella visiting with a very smart LCS owner. When this happens I pay attention. The worst part of that is I am actually understanding everything both of what they are saying. When PM's did that boogie like dance across the world of spot's it effected far more than just metals down there but metals and small buisinesses all over North America. So, what are we going to do now ? I think I will order a bunch more shot so I can burry my worries into making something nice for someone. That usually works to make me feel as cherry as I can be.
