Actually, the modern Austrian restrikes dated 1915 were some kind of European forerunners of bullion coins. Very popular in the 50s/60s/70s for investment and jewelry purposes, and you could get them at nearly every bank in Austria and Germany. Great design, but nowadays the majority of investors like more to count in ounces, and tons of these coins go directly from the commercial buyers into the melting pot. Greets from GER, U.

I don't understand, LMU coins are widely known for having 90% gold, but lots of sources cite this 98.6%. I saw websites that on the same page explain that 20 francs are 90% pure gold and a few lines below they claim that they are 98.6%. Where is that number coming from??

Everyone says that the US government (or any govt) would never again allow their currency to be backed by a metal standard because it limits their ability to spend unlimited amounts of our dollars. However, they would not be backing it for the benefit of We the People, but rather the other govts around the world with which they do business. The backing allows credibility amongst the elite that actually answer to each other, not us peasants at the bottom. To see how it might work we can relate it to two systems we are familiar with; fractional reserve banking, and the scharade of metal exchanges (COMEX, LBMA, etc.). You create a reserve % of your currency that has to be backed by gold, pretty easy to imagine. Well what if people demand payment for debts in gold instead of dollars? Just like on large COMEX exchanges, you have rules that only certain entities, or minimum quantities, are eligible to redeem paper for physical. For example, I couldn't go to the bank and request 3 ounces of gold because the minimum withdrawal limit is 3 tons. We see the exchanges currently have daily trading volumes 10-20x the actual available supply. So, make the reserve say 20%, incentivize rolling delivery forward, and let the scharade continue amongst world governments for another 50 years.

I'll never understand why some people would buy such a amount all in one go, it's dangerous for several reasons: transportation logistics and not spreading your average dollar/oz over time through DCA. If you bought a monster box when silver was $30+ then you know how long it's been underwater. This guy could have saved money and gotten more for his buck if he had bought in the spring of 2020 on that massive dip. The last time the premiums were decent, now it's just insane, you're talking about junk going from 99 cents to over $10 in only 3 years. If they do a slow train wreck of hyperinflation, then there's going to be new stackers who will just start in another 3 years, and the premiums will be even more ridiculous.

For Xmas this year my 11yr old gets their first tube of rounds and a lock box. From now on half of their allowance goes into an envelope for saving/metals. My kid has been asking to go with me to the coin shop and it's time they find out what it's all about. Next stop.....the 2nd amendment school range! Lol
Not gonna lie. I am envious of their ability to stack at the levels they do. I will keep chugging along a little at a time on my mission to obtain generational wealth for my kids and hopefully my kids kids.
Generational wealth doesn't happen overnight. If you start and your family continues the tradition, your family will have generational wealth and you will be the catalyst for that success. Keep plugging away, every ounce gets you closer to your goal.

That's why I stack for weight I only stack silver cuz I can't afford gold🤪💰 I don't worry about fancy coins or coins from different places I just collect bullion it makes it a lot easier...... simplify 😎

I have both silver and gold because I can afford some gold and I want the most options I can have during any hard times that come
our way. This is one of my ways to save money. I never "spend money" on PMs. I merely convert soft fiat currency into hard metal
money. At need, it is easily converted back again. Any premium lost is merely the cost of this excellent financial insurance.

FYI guys, The "100" Corona 1915 is most common because it is a re-strike. The original "100" Corona's were only minted between 1908-1914. The 1915 date mark was chosen in 1975 by the Austrian Mint as a commemorative mark. Regardless, they hold the same metal content as the ones before (and beautiful design), but maybe not as much of a Numismatic value...
I think the bottom line about "Foreign Gold" is that they are more like a Treasure. You don't find Gold Eagles in Shipwrecks etc. You will always be able to find an Eagle in any denomination or year...but you will not always find certain old foreign gold coins, and they always sell out fast if they are in the market. And they Stay Sold Out!

European stacker here. We had a way to buy silver VAT free in the EU region up until 2022, you just had to order it from Estonia, from like European Mint etc. Now the bureaucrats of EU have made it impossible. This hasn’t really stopped us, we have just switched to gold, which in many countries is still VAT free. The question remains, how long?

In the Netherlands investment gold is tax free. Silver is tax free if it is gouvernement backed currency, the philharmonic is worth 1,5 euro.

Sorry, but for beginners it might be important to know, that the Austrian Dukat is 986/1000 pure gold, whereas the Austrian Kronen is only 900/1000 pure gold. The first one comes in two sizes (1 Dukat, 4 Dukaten) and the latter in three sizes (10 Kronen, 20 Kronen and 100 Kronen).

The first coin shown in your movie Yankee is an Austrian Ducat, whose original matrix is dated 1915 (one year before the death of Francis Joseph I, Kaiser of Austrian- Hungarian Empire). 0.986 probe. There is also 4-Ducate coin available for sale at many European delaers / shops.

I can't answer that question, Stephen, but am fascinated by your plan. I would suggest looking at any web sites you can find in Thailand
to see if any of them offer gold for sale and also that buy gold. Looking at that could be very helpful in answering this question. I have
read that the premiums on gold in Asia are very low and that a lot of gold is bought and sold there. Traveling with gold could be a problem,
though. It might be better to hold some cash in a large bank that has branches in Thailand, perhaps HSBC? If so, you could then move there
and buy a good stack there instead of traveling with it. Check out the laws in Thailand regarding gold movement and whether or not the rules
are different for travelers vs. Thai citizens. Best of luck with this. It could work out really well but having a local advisor, such as an attorney
or accountant would be beneficial. Traveling there for a visit would be good too and might allow you some time to find an advisor as well as
check out where in Thailand you want to live. Some of the ex-pat retiree web sites could be helpful as well. Good luck with this. It should be
quite an adventure.
In India the government confiscated gold from people going door to door. This happened less than 10 years ago. I don't know how they managed to do it or why.😮
