When taken off at Spencer Junction, NR74 was boxed in by other freight vehicles, until that night when it was attached to a goods train for forwarding onto Adelaide.
It's good to see the loco running again. I do know that the locos are work horses and I believe they would be more impressive if they were cleaned. It's my opinion.
It's lucky the loco wasn't destroyed like the two near broken hill and the crew killed because of some lunatic truck driver as a retired train driver i was in the similar situation with a truck.
Yes everyone is in a hurry especially in stinken Adelaide. As a cyclist I try to stick to the footpath. When on the road a bit cars haven't got two seconds to slow down. I've been passed by cars in a roundabout, I have cars pass me by going over traffic islands. The modern world is sickening, can't wait to retire to the desert
I see all the burnt out car wrecks are still trackside, they were going to remove them four years back "to improve the image of Alice Springs for when the train enters/departs the town area." Great clip, won't take much to fix up NR74, that idiot truck drivers insurance company will have to dig very deep.🤔
Some of them are new, they pop up every now and then. Thankfully most will be too distracted with the scenery to notice a few burnt out cars 😅 Thanks for watching 😁
@@KanesTrains If it's not deliberate, it's an accident - no matter how avoidable it might have been. Unless, of course, one subscribes to Freud's ridiculous theory.
Actually watching the first rail crossing it was waaaay to late in shutting the road off, the barrier barely made it down as the locos arrived at the crossing, if the "accident" happened at a simmilar crossing then it would have been railroads fault
I suspect that CCL2 might actually be changing hands soon, as the newly acquired vintage rail journeys is very prominently showing the interior of a gold lounge in their promo materials, and with CCL 2 being the odd car out, appearance and maintenance wise, I'd bet GSR will be quick to be rid of it
I'm afraid to many your safety message will fall on deaf ears simply because some people in trucks and cars will always try to beat a train at a level crossing. Some will make it and others won't and no matter how much education is given for those who do it you're wasting your time for you can't educate stupid idiotic people who refuse to change their driving habits. Unfortunately it's a fact of life and a side human nature.

Boxed in intentionally perhaps?
@@KanesTrains I think so. There were wagons with containers both sides of it.
@ interesting, thanks for letting me know!

Treated for shock they say -- more like treated for soiled laundry!

Sure is 😊
Nicely done Kane!
Appreciate it mate 😁
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
'Accident' is a bit of a stretch. 'Collision' is more accurate
suppose it wasn’t intentional..it was more accidental..wish there was a word for that 😉

@@KanesTrains I would say an incident, not accident.
no such thing as an accident when its caused by stupid human behaviour
@@kenfowler1980 I would call it an incident, definitely no accident.

I thought that too. However the lights were flashing and the onus is on the road user not the rail.
Bit of a shame the Overland Club car is used on the Ghan. Too luxurious for the Overland now huh?
That is what you get with a day running overland never made any sense at all
@ yeah. Needs to be a sleeper train
The Overland needs to be revived!

That should all buff right out, no dramas.
I wonder if it will return in The Ghan livery
Cauliflower!
When are you going to capture NJ4 on the Ghan ;)
When Aurizon donate and NJ to PRR 😉
Brakes work alright
Cauliflower, Kane. something abit different. You have to be there at the right time to get these kinda incidents.
A piece of luck 😊
NR 74 be 2nd unit taken for repairs i gather .
Yup! I believe it was taken to Melbourne for repairs
Why it not go south and get fixed?
It’s in Melbourne getting fixed currently
@@KanesTrains I remember they were built at 2 locations W.A and NSW
Is it going to be repaired and a new coat of paint?
I’d say yes! Just not sure if it will stay a Ghan loco, I’m keen to see!
There aren’t really a lot of collisions that happen to the Ghan
Yup!
besides with kangaroos and native wildlife
Coliflower
Shouldn't be any

The ABC will make out that the train was at fault
I think they made it very evident that the truck made an Oopsie

I'm surprised at how little damage the loco got
It’s very lucky
And the truck. Both light damage - considering. Each foot the truck had been on the lines, the more the damage would have been, to all.
