Savory oats make so much sense! Oats are pretty much like noodles, tofu, or any other bland starch. It's a mental jump for Americans to use them in a savory way but it totally makes sense because they don't have a strong flavor on their own. I reallly want to try that recipe now.
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 NIV ROMANS 10:9-11 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. oh thank God. Im a sweet person too but there's only so much oatmeal, smoothies, cereal or overnight oats I can take before i get bored of eating breakfast. THANKS CAITLIN
OMG, Caitlin, I asked and you DELIVERED! Thanks so much for making this video! As a vegan mom to four boys, I don't make time to come up with new recipes but I'm a total savory person! Can't wait to make ALLL of these this week!
My favorite savory vegan breakfast is sweet potato hash!! I just brown up sweet potato, red or white onion and top it with avocado! Pretty simple, but absolutely delish!
This looks AMAZING! I'm not vegan, but trying to transition to a vegetarian diet. I have a type of IBS that prevents me from eating gluten and dairy products, but most vegetables and fruits, thankfully, don't bother me. The fact that the pancakes are savory AND use gluten-free flour is a game-changer for my morning routine. Thank you!
I really want to get into a vegan diet slowly! But the fact you incorporate meal prep instructions as well is going to help me so much, thank you! Can’t wait to start this first step in this diet!
Once I got over the concept of foods assigned for certain parts of the day, food prep for a heck of a lot easier! I’m so glad someone else said this! Others call me crazy for “eating dinner” in the morning!
My favorite savory breakfast is the burritos you posted a while back with sweet potatoes, blackbeans and salsa! I make a big batch once or twice a month.
I have frozen dumplings for breakfast embarrassingly often. But also pan-friend tofu sandwiches and avocado toast. I'm definitely a savory breakfast person.
My husband and I are brand new to the vegan world and your three breakfast meals are definitely going into my meal plan. I love oatmeal so I can't wait to try something new. Thank You
I made the savoury oats this morning. I was skeptical but it was amazing. My family loved it. Ill try the other 2 on the video as well. Thank you and thank you foraking this video
I made the savory oats yesterday. Added raisins, mushrooms and faux chicken pieces. Ate the first bowl today and was blown away! This is sooo good! Thanks for the recipe!
The black salt is my answer to everything, it’s like me and hot sauce I put that-ish on everything. And it’s perfect for those egg dishes that you want to make but we don’t need eggs anymore. Definitely something you want to buy.
I’m a solely sweet breakfast person but that egg salad 🤤 is going to be made for lunch ASAP. I love tofuuuu Update: just made it and it was AMAZING! This is going to be a go-to meal for me!
Diana Mendoza yes! Don’t worry it doesn’t make it taste bad, it’s mostly salty with a eggy like flavor. It was my first time using it too. Just use the amount she has in her recipe and you should be fine! ❤️
A TIP: for the vegan egg tofu scramble, if you use extra firm and high protein tofu, you don't have to press it before you make it! The texture is different but it's still really delicious
John Thompson egg is an animal by-product, which is why vegetarians still eat it as it’s not considered meat to them and they just eat a veggie based diet. What was shown above was vegan eggs, most brands have it in either a powdered form or a tofu form so it can resemble and taste like eggs although it is not and completely plant based :)
Amanda Ashly not all vegetarians consider eggs in their meals, like me.. I don’t eat eggs even tho I’m a vegetarian, I don’t eat meat, but I drink milk
WOW I made your egg salad and it was delicious. My husband and daughter couldnt believe there was no egg in it. I used regular salt as i couldn't find the black salt. I can only imagine how it would taste with it. Thank you for this amazing recipe!
I put Apple cider vinegar, braggs, and hot sauce on my savory oatmeal. The combo is so good! And I use a 7 grain blend or quinoa sometimes. Savory breakfast is yum!!
Yoooooo I’m so hyped for the egg salad, I always had a love hate relationship with eggs because of the sulfur smell, so just omitting the black salt makes it easy to have everything I did love about egg salad
Those all looked very good and very creative!! love avocado toast either by itself or with tofu scramble or sauteed mushrooms in garlic and little balsamic vinegar 😍 breakfast burritos are always amazing as well with tofu scramble, soy chorizo (I get this from trader Joe's and it's AMAZING) , black beans, avocado and sauteed greens!
FanTAStic! I Especially would like to try the vegan egg salad recipe, as I have been researching different ones and really like your ideas about the medium firm tofu, chopping the tofu rather than crumbling it, and of course using black salt. TIP: When I made mine last week, I separated out half of the tofu and left it white and then only added the turmeric to the other half to make it yellow, and then when I mixed them together, there was wore white showing through, like real egg salad.
Finally, savory breakfast ideas! Don't get me wrong, I like sweet breakfast ideas too, but after a while I crave for savory in my mornings! Thank you so much Caitlin :3
In India most of the ready made oats are savory, and they have plenty of flavors, including curry, tomato, etc. There's even Quaker Oats with masala and veggie flavor. I also saw lots of savory baby foods like dahl curry and veggie Cerelac.
Those root veggies pancakes look so yummy I wanna eat them right now, I seriously think I'll have them for lunch tomorrow, cause I like my breakfast sweet
It all looks delicious. I had a friend who used to have her cereal for supper before she went to bed. I always thought that it was odd, but I guess anything goes.
I don't have time to make lavish breakfast and I don't like spending a ton of time in the kitchen. My go-to breakfast during the week is oatmeal or tofu scramble on toasted bread. But I'm excited to try the savory oatmeal now! Thanks for the recipe!
I’m all over those savory oats, and will be trying them this week. Also, your cashew cream recipe is the first version that has ever “clicked” for me...looks easy, delicious, and satisfying. The root veggie pancakes are a delightful breakfast idea that seem perfectly paired with the cashew cream. Thank you for your creative ideas that are so well explained, filmed and edited...time to head to my kitchen!
I need those root veggie pancakes in my life! Im too lazy to make them in the morning but I am definitely going to be trying them out for lunch or a light dinner 😍
savory oatmeal looks great! the oatmeal recipes i see are usually almost always sweet but i lean towards being a savory eater so thank u for sharing the savory recipe!
if you’re making the potato pancakes without the packaged veggies, make sure to soak the shaved veggies in cold water!!! i didnt do that to start off and my pancakes were too crunchy. just a heads up
Those potato pancakes look so good. And the egg salad. Savory oats scared me at first too. Then I made savory oat patties and even my daughter liked them. Well done Caitlin.
Thanks for all your beautiful recipes, they've been so helpful to me. Actually, you have a sick talent doing your thing, also your voice is so smooth and really like it a lot! Keep doing the gnarliest recipes i've ever seen, please! Saludos desde Mexico!!
I've actually never had a "real" egg salad before going vegan (not a big thing where I live) but I have to try the vegan version... And I love root vegetable pancakes more than just the potato ones too... Thanks for the video
My usual breakfast in Costa Rica was beans, rice, and plantains - I loved it 😋 My favorite savory breakfast to make at home is tofu scramble breakfast tacos!
I am someone who gets sick from eating sweet things too early in the morning so my go to is bread. my go to is guacamole, hummus or vegan creamcheese on wholewheat and mostly sourdough bread... I usually top it with tomatoes or whatever veggies i have in and some seeds sprinkled on top. when i feel like something a little sweeter i'll have a peanutbutter banana toast but that's too much for me on most days as well
I make savoury oats all the time, garlic and thyme mushrooms with spinach and chickpeas, + nutrional yheast, smoked paprika, a bit of marmite and salt + pepper 👌🏼
I think the frozen veggies tend to be blanched prior to freezing, so cook quicker. Fresh veggies would likely take a bit longer, I was wondering about this myself! Definitely time for an experiment haha, these look delicious!
The savory oatmeal was so good! I was super skeptical at first but after I tried it I was hooked! I also loved the vegan egg salad, so tasty! Thanks for all the great recipes!
I really appreciate this....when I start out with sweet foods, I find I keep chasing the sweetness throughout the day...so it’s better that I start with savory.
Just tried the "egg" salad, was really easy and turned out well even for someone like me who's never used tofu or soaked cashews and with no high powered blender (my hand blender only managed a slightly gritty consistency, not the creaminess on display here, but the taste seems totally right, and even with all the dijon mustard and black salt it's quite mild when the tofu comes in). Thanks for this video!
These pancakes really excited me because I celebrate Hanukkah and this will be my first holiday season eating completely vegan and I’m hoping I can use the flax egg for latkes. Thanks!!!
Thanks good looking potato pancakes and mock egg salad. I usually crumble My Tofu and use firm .I am going to have to try medium and top it and also buy some of that black salt
Great idea Caitlin. I prefer sweet breakfast, but also am partial to savory food. Will have to give all of these a try. Even the oatmeal. Thanks for all you do.
The flavors in that egg salad sound amazing!!! I’m always struggling with what to eat for lunch and am so happy to have come across this video!! Looking forward to checking out some more of your recipes :)
I’m not a fan of savory breakfasts either (I like sweet ☺️) but GIRL, these recipes look soooo delicious 😍 I want to try these recipes for a “breakfast dinner”. I used to love having breakfast for dinner when I was younger but haven’t had it in sooo long bc I didn’t know how to make savory and egg-like breakfasts. Thanks!
Great ideas! I always forget about using oats as savory but just a grain like wheat berries, rice, polenta...need to put a jar of them with my other supper grains so I will remember. Not gross at all! I do prefer sweet for breakfast but could eat these any time. And only time we "make" breakfast like pancakes, waffles, etc is for a supper meal. My husband has to have cereal out of a box for supper but have been getting my girls to eat oatmeal or yogurt/granola for breakfast. Much more budget friendly and then can get some real seasonal fruit in them for their first meal.
I use soft tofu as the "sauce" for the egg salad, but I imitate the texture of eggs with chopped up cooked noodles. Literally the same texture as boiled eggwhites
I love ur videos. I am from India and the last oatmeal recipe looked a lot similar to lentil dish we eat here with plain white rice called dal tarka. You should try this. It's awesome.
Savory oats make so much sense! Oats are pretty much like noodles, tofu, or any other bland starch. It's a mental jump for Americans to use them in a savory way but it totally makes sense because they don't have a strong flavor on their own. I reallly want to try that recipe now.
Not so far fetched as you would think imho, shrimp and grits are much like savory oats.
Actually savoury oats is cooked a lot in indian cuisine. Look up masala oats :)
@@RDevi-xk7xj yes infact our regular# khichdi #closely resembles in taste to this one
Stanley Stewart it makes sense but it’s hard to imagine not eating sweet oats haha
When oats were introduced to India which is not used to eating sweets as a daily diet, Indians adaptated it to a savoury Upma recipe.
💡Idea: Vegan breakfasts from different parts of the world 🌎

Sounds yummy! 🙂
do you bake it in the oven first to make it soft? so you can fry it.
or cook in boiling water first? and mash it ?
Soundssssssssss DELISSSSSHHH
Does the recipe still work w normal flour?
This looks AMAZING! I'm not vegan, but trying to transition to a vegetarian diet. The vegan egg salad toast looks BOMB! I have to try it out--I didn't generally eat egg salads prior to veganism. It will probably taste great!
