2:35 About that, they explained that the original pixelated sprites were made specifically for the CRT screens, with scanlines and all, and that on nowadays screens, it was looking quite odd. So they went with a more detailed style of shading the sprites
That's why I love the snes mini so much. Being able to turn on the CRT scanlines in the options makes some of the games look so damn good even on my 52" flatscreen ❤
@@kurtisschwartz9870 so basically the filter just makes the colors darker and things blurrier lol. Trust me ive been gaming since 86. I have the pixel remasters on pc and ps4. I really like the option to switch to the original soundtracks. I agree, I think the new orchestral versions are super well done. But the original soundtracks are forever etched into my mind. I’m playing these games because I want to take a trip down memory lane, and the texture of the original music is a huge part of that for me. It’s great that we at least have the choice. This is the best of both worlds.

Even without the GBA optional stuff, FF6PR, IMO, is the definitive way to play FF6.
It’s probably been since FF1 was on the NES when I last played it. So I’m enjoying these remasters. I’m starting with 1 and hoping to get all the way through this collection
Hopefully they add all the bonus content as DLC. So many cool super bosses like Omega Weapon, Kaiser Dragon, Ultima weapon, and Light Emperor are missing.
I want the PS4 version. I'm going to wait and see if Square floods the market with copies, just like they did with Final Fantasy VIII Remastered on PS4.
GBA content should’ve been included. FFIV’s endgame dungeons for all the ultimate weapons and versing Zeromus EG was so cool when I was younger. I also really enjoyed the GBA music a lot more than the original and arranged. Just personal preferences, but the options would’ve been cool.
I spent more time in the Lunar Ruins than the main game, based on my total time on the GBA one. They really need to just compile the bonus content as one big free DLC down the line
Thank you for the review. My favorite game in the series is IV and from the side by side comparison Cecil's overworld sprite looks less impressive than the SNES version but like you said it's a minor thing. Looking forward to getting them when the price drops.
Gonna have to grab this on Steam just for the mod ability. Hopefully can somehow mitigate the screen stutter. Would love the original character sprites too. I also wish they’d give an option for 4:3. This “wider” version just feels more claustrophobic.
I wouldn’t get it on steam I have it no exp buff our u can’t turn battles on and off I hate how it doesn’t have it. It’s bs they won’t update the pc version
I don't know why they always put in these "no encounters" options, but not even consider a "less encounters" option. Seriously, "less encounters, more xp" makes much more sense to me, cause if never fight, i don't get any xp, even if it's boosted. Also, it's not like i wanna run through the game and fight nobody.. Just less, and then balance that with more xp! 🤦🏼♂️
Because you can easily turn the encounters on or off with a single button press and with these games you can also control the amount of money and exp you get so there's no real reason to have a less encounters feature.
@@wood1066 Haha, which means you have to constantly turn it on, then off, then on, then off. Right now, they practically still force the high encounter rate on you, only thing you can do is turn it off fully. Make it "on / moderate / off" and we're all happy.
@habibk.2423 it's a single button press that takes one second. If you had to constantly go in and out of a menu screen to turn it on or off I'd see your point. Have gamers really become so lazy that one button press is now an inconvenience?
