- Famous Radio Interviewer, Alison Steele the Nightbird, interviews Robert Plant in 1975. This was for The Army Reserves.
This interview was split for air weeks of 5/4/1975 & 5/11/1975.
Loved her smooth voice.😊❤
Robert’s voice is like silk..
"...59 Crown Imperial Drophead." Holy shit...I love the way he says that.
I listened this this interview live!
Miss Nightbird . When radio was good
^ ^ I just listened to this and Im deeply affected by it!........people really were cooler and more articulate in the 70s. I was 15 when this was recorded ..... Im now 62 and I miss the hope and positivity of those times.Foxy Pagan Love fae Scotland VVxx
Thank you for commenting! Agree.
I had a chance meeting with Zep in Rhode Island very personal they came down my families private driveway and played soccer on our field on the ocean. The busses broke down. They were charming. My great aunt loved Jimmy. Magical.
I used to stay up late just to listen to Alison Steele!
The "Nightbird", Living in NY she was usually the last voice I heard before falling asleep. Her and Scott Muni missing those days.
I had this album when I was young. My dad worked at a radio station and brought it home. The only bit I could remember was the 19 coats of candy apple red paint for his car. LOL. It's great to hear it again and have the memories flooding back. I even remember the Army Reserve ads now. I wasn't too familiar with Led Zeppelin when dad brought the album home, but they became and still are one of my favorite bands.
Makes sense. These are records my aunt got from her bf’s radio station. Thanks for sharing!
Despite growing up in the NYC area, I never listened to Alison Steele, the Nightbird, much. Past my bedtime. From everything I've heard, she was an absolutely a wonderful person. When WNEW switched formats, she knew almost nothing about rock music. She pivoted very quickly to make it work. She passed much too soon. What a shame.
Back in the day on WNEW, she was wonderful! The entire crew at WNEW were the best. I also loved the fact that she ended every night with the song Cast Your Fate to the Wind. James Gang added it on a song on the album James Gang Rides Again. Those were the days. Kudos to Alison Steele, and the rest of the WNEW crew. She had a beautiful, smoldering voice. Rest in peace, Alison
I've heard many recent interviews of RP, and he always sounds like a thoughtful, polite gentleman. 46 years ago, he sounded like...a thoughtful, polite gentleman. I have a hard time squaring that with Zeppelin's tours being drug fueled debaucheries.
I agree. Robert always seems very thoughtful with a good lot of intellect. And a spritz of humor.
Lol
I know! But I've heard multiple interviews from the Zeppelin days where Jimmy definitely sounded drug-fueled and drunk. I've never heard an interview where Plant sounded as out of control or even wasted. Has anyone?
@@missdee4927 As in drug fuel debit chart they are not credited for the whole floor models and they never were on lay away, luck of the ticket 🎟️🎫!!!!!!
Don’t get too hung up on the stories on the road focus on the music
Hey Robert- i am a long time fan and you helped me grow into the Man i am. This interview gave some insight into your thinking and life and I appreciate that.
Great creativity requires the artist to retain a strong inner child. Learning to fly doesn’t necessarily need wings but it does need an unerring, strong inner light.
This is one of the best interviews I have ever heard with RP. And a rare post/find.
Thank you for sharing!
Well said sir Robert..very well said
Cool , the interviews voice is deeper than RPs . Sounds like he has 1 of his infamous colds Thanks for the post .
Listening with good headphones i got ASMR..until the effin commercials uhhhhhgggg muwhahahaaa!😂😳😣
It's ironic that Robert Plant here acknowledges the chemistry in the band. In later interviews, after the break up of LZ he would say 'Jimmy likes to use the word 'chemistry' but I think it was sheer luck. It's interesting that he talks about the musical influence of the Gypsies (Romani) on him where he lived. His mother was said to be of Romani descent.
That would be Robert of Romani descent..not Jimmy.
@@margueritemazzeo2904 Yes. My whole comment was about Robert and what he said and his origins. I've amended it to make it clearer but the reference to what Jimmy said was confined within the quotation marks.
The advertisements lmao
I had to add those, even though some are omitted just because it gets repetitive.
@@countofcandleshoe3887 Beats MY PILLOW and ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION commercials. lol
How irritating the interruptions to mention 'The Army Reserve'.
That’s who was paying for the interviews. And I support our military.
@@countofcandleshoe3887 It's still an irritating interruption.
@@heliotropezzz333 okay. I left them in for historical value. You may always skip ahead. 😊
@@heliotropezzz333 It doesn't really bother me. 🙄
@@EuphoriaPiana I'm happy for you.
Where's the rest of the interview?
What do you mean? That’s the entire interview.
@@countofcandleshoe3887 When the interviewer said at the end of the video, 'Robert I want to take a break' and then goes into the commercial message, I assumed that the interview was not over, otherwise she would have thanked him and said goodbye.
@@heliotropezzz333 that’s all there was on this album. I uploaded what I have. 🌙
@@countofcandleshoe3887 O.K. Thank you. I wasn't meaning to criticise you by my comment, just asking in case anyone had a longer version.
@@heliotropezzz333 I think there is a longer version on here, youtube. The ones I’ve uploaded so far have been digital transfers of records that my aunt got after they aired on her bf’s radio station back in the 70’s.. I’ve edited out the songs for obvious reasons & some of the Army Reserve commercials but the rest is what was on there.. These albums were in varying condition so some have pops and crackles. This one luckily enough is fairly clean and good being Robert Plant as this one people listen to the most. It’s my most viewed video by far.
She sure sounds old for a woman that was probably 32 years old max. Too many cigarettes!
She was 38 years old in 1975 , she was born in 1937
However, ...i love her voice ... sexy ! ... prefer spending whole night long with this style of woman ... ha ha
@@tanapatpeemanee1230 Because of her voice and looks, I've wondered if she was who John Carpenter modeled the Stevie Wayne character on for "The Fog."
When led Zeppelin ended, do you think Robert considered joining the army reserves for the extra bread for one weekend a month to go to meetings?
He wasn't in as much of a playful mood, like when he mentioned coming to London and being met by beautiful lady (Jimmy)
Someone got pregnant
His sinuses sound a bit cokey.
Funny, I was thinking his voice sounded a little bit heroiny. This was during the period of time where Robert was using.
Wow , isn’t she catty ! Placing the image of him in army training in the minds of the listener !
Then melting the word ‘ bomb ‘ with ‘ bum ‘ ! “ Get your haircut and try and last five minutes in
the army you lazy bum “ . This chic is telling him she ain’t impressed .
"the chick" is Alison Steele. Do you homework.
So what. She wasn't part of anything cool. It was only a 'career' for her. F-.

@@williamhiles7404She defined a generation. What have you done for humanity recently, Mr. Altruist? The gentleman doth protest too much… 😂
@@williamhiles7404Also, I’m a millennial who probably has more LZ on vinyl than you do. Shut it.
Totally wrong interpretation, but you do you, boo.
Some people, like Robert & Jimmy, are pretty smart. "Those who know, do not speak". Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching. Ask Jimmy, he'll know what that means. oTo.

Ok, old man. Already replied to one of your idiotic comments 😂 Two can play this game…
