I've used the lens covers multiple times, and tried the same shot with and without it and either I suck, or I didnt see any difference in light flares or brightness. The only thing I do see is if I am at the lowest F# then I get the vingrette effect of it showing.

Thanks Paul! Now, I know the significance of the red dot vs. the white dot! Also, I'm shopping for new lenses; and now I know to look for EF vs. EFS lenses so that when I upgrade to a full frame, I'll be able to use my new lenses on both cameras. Though I'm not completely happy with my kit lenses, I am now aware that I can use the kit 70mm - 300mm lens on a full frame camera, as well. I'm not exactly a beginner; but I still learned a lot from this video.

Speaking of Mono-Pods verses Tri-pods, You can use a ti-pod as a mono-pod simply by folding in the legs and it works just as good if not better than a mono-pod because you have that much more weight and mass to dampen the motions and the flexibility of a mono-pod. I have used this method in certain conditions and it worked flawlessly.
