I think what you're seeing and feeling in these older movies is that the characters had more "heart". They let you feel what the characters are feeling. They are easier to like and you care about them. You become personally invested in their story and the payoff at the end is better for it.
Exactly... certain yt creators also have this trait if you come across them.. they seem to be found in the right places.
The older films had more "heart". They were more grounded in reality. We all could relate to these characters on a very human and universal level.
yes i miss such feeling in new movies were everything is either cringe or double meaning things and relatable characters
@Miles Doyle 🙏🙏🙏
And all the characters are either beta males or masculine boss women, lol!
Classic, perfectly paced, and each character even side characters had personality. Amazing film inside and out.
indeed they were!
Cliff Robertson absolutely nails the with great power comes great responsibility speech his voice the delivery it’s heartbreaking how their final conversation ends
Also 16:32 that swing with the music in the background is incredible you feel all the emotions
His rant at the end about the Hulk and how the MCU have nerf him was hilarious
ohhh man i could have said it moreee!! MCU IS GOING INTO A WRONG DIRECTION!
Superhero movies wouldn’t be what they are today without this classic Spider-Man. Set a trend.
very trueee
Blade set the trend ...if it wasnt for that film marvel would be in financial ruin
@@rashadwalker8218 Yeah it saved Marvel. But a lot of people didnt even know he was a comic character then.
Spider-Man is just the one that set up "superhero" movies in the future.
The Sam Raimi Spider-Mans were the best hands down
was very goooood
@Miles Doyle 🙏🙏🙏
Call me weird, but the scene on the bridge with everyone rallying for Spider Man always makes me tear up. The movie came right after 9/11, so having a bunch of New Yorkers ban together to help carries way more weight than just a super hero movie.
That and the ending with him soaring through New York brings that feeling of hope, unity of America at this time, and pride. I get teary eyed watching this film every time.
Same!
There's a level of savagery in these movies that you don't get in new movies. New movies (The spider-man marvel movies) are good but they don't carry the weight that this trilogy did. There's a sense of consequence in this movie, it takes itself seriously mostly.
This is my favorite super hero movie of all time, everyone was amazing in their roles, and the ending was perfect. I know many prefer the 2nd movie to this one, but it isn't even a contest for me, this is as good as an origin tale can get.
I like the first and second one equally and for different reasons: the first one has the best origin story (next to Batman Begins) the second one for it's conflict and how the villain is the representation of that conflict: juggling life from different directions simultaneously
also, the lunch tray scene was practical. he had to do that many times before he got that take.
Over 20 times
It’s like 160 takes something crazy but he did it
This movie is one of the best origin stories I’ve ever seen, I like how it shows Peter going through his struggles yet managing to make the best of whatever he could.
People can argue who is the best Spider Man, organic web or tech, costum with the telescopic eyes, etc...
One thing none can deny, this is the best Peter Parker, and for me (and many others) this is still the best Spider Man ever made, he's the more human and relatable simply because he's the most faithful version of the comics.
Special mention to Cliff Robertson playing a wonderful Uncle Ben, Spider Man 3 was his last movie, R.I.P.
PS : The first Spider Man movie was made in 1977 as a pilot for a serie that was never made.
@Miles Doyle
I think you're mistaken Peter Parker with Peter the Apostle, just saying...🙄
I will ALWAYS love how Jameson protects Peter, even though Green Goblin is holding him by the throat. He may be a bit of a jerk, but he has integrity. His and Peter's relationship in the comics is some of my favorite stuff as well. There's this sort of underlying respect between the two of them in a lot of instances. Jameson knows Peter is a damn good photographer, but he'd never admit it!
@milesdoyle found the schizo who thinks anyone will read that wall of text 🤣
Also, it’s what a good editor at a newspaper does. They don’t snitch on whistleblowers or on their reporters/journalists. It comes along with what a good editor does. But I’m glad you picked up on it
You're correct Tom Holland is meant to be the youngest Peter Parker, so the movies are intended to be more fun and playful through his High School trilogy. The other Spider-Man movies switch to College age pretty quickly.
This will always be my favourite spider movie ever i cant tell u how many times i watched this as a kid man loved it
Toby will always be the only spider-man I ❤love
That argument in the beginning its so important for the end when he says “my father was ben parker” shit bring me to tears ngl 😂
Before Tobey Maguire was cast as Spider-Man, Leonardo DiCaprio, Wes Bentley, Tom Cruise, Charlie Sheen, Edward Furlong, Freddie Prinze, Jr, Chris O'Donnell, Jude Law, Chris Klein, Heath Ledger,Scott Speedman, and Joe Mangiello were considered.
Nicolas Cage, Jason Isaacs and John Malkovich were considered for Green Goblin.
Kate Bosworth, Elizabeth Banks, Kate Hudson, Eliza Dushku, Mena Suvari, Jaime King, and Alicia Witt were considered for Mary Jane Watson.
Tobe Hooper, James Cameron, Roland Emmerich, Tony Scott, Chris Columbus, Barry Sonnenfeld Tim Burton, Michael Bay, And Lee, David Fincher, Jan De Bont, M. Night Shymalan, and Joe Zito were considered for Directing
Tragically there is a deleted scene in this film that shows Spider-Man webbing a helicopter filled with criminals between the two World Trade Center towers, this film released in 2002 so it was removed due to 9/11. Reminds me of how recent that really was, as this was my favorite childhood movie and 9/11 was my first memory
Batman "the mask is not for my protection.. it's to protect the ones I love"
I was 2 years old when this movie came out but I grew up watching it countless times, and parts 2 and 3. Part 2 may be the best one, but 1&2 are my favorites equally. Part 3 had producers that screwed with the film and ruined the directors vision, and he still was able to make it amazing. That feeling people get when they finally watch this movie, even if they only know about them because they’re younger and only know of the MCU, no matter how old they are, it seems they get the feeling it’s always given me. The way the actors portray these characters, and Sam Raimi’s directing style, it just goes to show that what these films have that gives everyone that same feeling is heart.
That’s at the core of it. This was a stand alone series only about Spider-Man, so all of the focus was on him and his life. The best arc for this Spider-Man is hands down his arc in part 2. The heart that these films hasn’t been recreated, and without Sam Raimi’s directing style, it never will be. He made these movies just as big as the best superhero movies of today, but his movies are just their own thing that nobody else can replicate.
It’s his Spider-Man world. As much as I loved the MCU for what it did, they could’ve never reached this pinnacle of movie making on such a deep, and emotional level. Sam Raimi/Toby Maguire Spider-Man films just have this magic in them. It all feels so real, while also being operatic and so poetic
Tobey Maguire is Spider-Man ….
They really tried to tell a story back then. Nowadays, it feels like every movie and show just exists to move the plot to the next one
On the other hand, how many times do we need to see the origin of Spider-Man? Who doesn’t know about the spider bite and uncle Ben kicking the bucket
@@rawpower12xu It's not just Spider-Man, it's pretty much every superhero movie that comes out now, like what thetallestdwarf7041 said. It's just for money, but the older movies had deeper meaning and heart unlike now, it's just to keep going to get more money.
While everyone hates the newer movies for their excessiveness
Everyone loves this one for its simplicity
Great reaction and yes you should continue with this series. Another great movie you want to check out is "Gorillas in the Mist", this movie is a true story about Dian Fossey and her work in Rwanda with mountain gorillas and her battle with poachers. Sigourney Weaver from 'Aliens" plays the role of Dian Fossey. "Gorillas in the Mist" was nominated for five Academy Awards in 1988.
Peter's parents were both killed in a plane crash when he was 4.
They'll see it in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
@milesdoyle what does any of this have to do with Spider-Man and Peter Parker's parents?
@Miles Doyle 🙏🙏🙏
The newer Peter Parker in the Avengers movies is very different than the comic book and original movie Peter. The reason Peter is more realistic to me in the old movie is because he was a nerd that nobody wanted to be friends with, so when he put on the mask, he was more confident and was able to make jokes without being nervous. The new Peter isn't really like the old one. The new one is not really the nerdy kid that gets picked on by people.
The new one is Iron Boy
Exactly. Most people don’t get this. You really understood how invisible this Peter was
@MJoy4Fun Spider-Man 2 (2004) it's going to blow their heads
R.I.P Stan Lee
@40windcrowrang And steve ditko ?
All the talk about Flappy at the end 😂 😂 😂
The guy who plays bone saw was the the real wrestler Macho Man Randy Savage 👍🏼
With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.
31:50 "You mess with one of us, You mess with All of us"
I heard this movie was a positive message after 9-11-01 🙏🙏
13:33 "Doesn't have blood; he has Red Bull in his veins." 😝
This is the best spiderman for me, its just perfect!
I fully understand why Marvel didn't want to do the Uncle Ben death scene all over again when they brought in Tom Holland. It had already been done twice, and doing it a third time (and less than a decade since the previous time as well) was going to be overkill. However, it really is too bad we didn't get to see that character moment in the MCU. Uncle Ben's death, and Peter truly learning the meaning of "with great power comes great responsibility," is at the very core of his character. A few small references and a line of "when you don't do the things you can do, and then the bad things happen ... they happened because of you," isn't really a suitable replacement. I still love Tom's version of Spider-Man in the MCU, but I would almost make this movie mandatory watching before seeing those movies. Really understanding that moment, and what drives him to sacrifice so much of his personal life for the greater good is essential, in my opinion. And it's the one thing I've felt the MCU's take on Peter Parker is missing a bit.
@Miles Doyle ok
Oh the way M’s face lightened at seeing Peter first use his webs I could see his inner child coming out. Spider-Man just sparks that love of superheroes that most of us had as a kid and brings it back years later.
Tobey will always be my Spider-Man. Tom and Andrew did well but Tobey’s Spidey has the best Uncle and Aunt, the quote from the second film echoes across all superheroes characters, and the music, directing and everything just chefs kiss! Oh and don’t forget to keep reacting to X-men series or at least up to Days of Future Past the mcu shows are starting to bring in mutants.
I highly agree with you on Hulk. Yes the 2008 Hulk had its faults but it was THE HULK. It was the Hulk you could see fighting the Wolverine. And with Hugh coming back I want a Hulk vs Wolverine fight and the Hulk MCU has now would not give us a bloodbath. Hulk isn’t a bad guy but he don’t play as clean and nice as the other heroes. He is right up there with Punisher, Daredevil, Wolverine and Deadpool.
Christmas Vacation 😂
People don't change that much from being 15 or 16 to 17 or 18. The new Spider-Man is definitely too childish and does not have a sense of responsibility over his powers or what he is supposed to do. The first two movies are examples of that, especially the second one when he gave those glasses to Mysterio.
This trilogy made by Sam Raimi is much more mature and actually gives you life lessons, unlike the newer Spider-Man that is mainly about bad childish jokes, support characters that are really bad and are there just to fill the space, and CGI fight scenes.
Such a fun movie! Even on rewatch, you can’t but be excited.
Thank you for the reaction, I haven’t watch this movie in years. I had forgotten most of it.
glad you liked it!
I remember I watched this movie in the theater back in my 5th grade year with my family. It's still one of my favorite childhood movies
Kirsten Dunst who plays MJ stopped playing the role because she got tired of screaming. The man in the ring was a famous WWF wrestler name Macho Man Randy Savage. The new ones I believe could be because Stan Lee is dead. He made the Marvel movies better.
Best spiderman ever
by far!
Better than mcu or Garfield Spider-Man m…. So much heart… the soundtrack… the relatability
I'm sorry, but you could not cast a comic-book villain any better than Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin. He portrays that split personality so damn well, the way he switches seamlessly from the meek-mannered Norman Osborn to the sadistic and cruel Green Goblin.
Loving the reactions
Spiderman is one of the greatest superhero movies of all time. It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as the concept and theme due to it's witty and clever dialogue and humor, comedic moments, emotional resonance, action sequences, motivational, powerful, and inspirational life messages. Tobey Maguire did a phenomenal and spectacular job portraying Spiderman/ Peter Parker as he put tons of emotion and depth into his role. It absolutely and positivity reintroduced and revitalized the superhero genre. It was decent. To this day the ending still gives me chills and goosebumps 😱 as it was just a really perfect, epic, and satisfying way to end the movie as it gives a true message to find your true identity and individuality and I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old 😍😎👍💯
In the comics there was a storyline about Mr Osborn not remembering he was the goblin. I’m glad they put it in the movie !
When i was small i loved him so much ^^ :D and still only ONE and BESt spidy ever :)
I am sooo happy you both are enjoying this Spidey movie.☺ I hope you watch all of Tobey's and Andrew's Spidey movies to be fully prepared for the lasted Tom Holland movie. No spoiling but to really appreciate Spiderman:No way home seeing all of the previous ones helps and is simply enjoyable. I'm new to your channel and plan to come back! You two got me hooked, consider me subscribed!!😊😊😊
Nice! Can't wait for you guys to react to the second one!
Tobey's was supposed to be MCU's Spider. He would of been in the first Avengers film. Nick Fury mentions him to Stark in a deleted scene. Its deleted cause of Sony telling Marvel no. Tobey was supposed to show up in Hulk 2008 as a cameo as Peter Parker when Banner was on the college campus. Spider Man 2 references in Iron Man 2 referring to Stark Tech. Stark Tech was supposed to be shown in Spider Man 2. Etc etc but all of this was thrown out cause of Sony and Marvel beef. Smh
Bro be lookin like 2004 Joe Rogan
RIP Macho Man Randy Savage aka Bonesaw 💪
17:37 turns out It was the wrong guy in spider man 3
San Raimi, Master of Masters
loved your reaction. subbed
Awesome thank you!
Once, after the release of Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Stan Lee was asked which of all the films about Spider was his favorite. And Stan Lee chose this first film with Toby. And I COMPLETELY AGREE with him. The second film is also good, but the first film stands apart from the others. Stan Lee correctly noted that in the 2002 film this is history, and in the following films it is still commerce, because it is clear that the second will be followed by the third, followed by the fourth, and so on.
finally .. the REAL SPIDER MAN 💪🏼
Can't wait to see you guys react to the sequel. It's one of my favorite films of all time.
I swear, if you didn't know what this movie was, and just saw the fight scene between Peter and Flash, you'd think it was about a 40 year old gym teacher trying to beat up the 30 year old guidance counselor.
lmaoo
Yeah 2003 Hulk will be my hulk
My fav movie of all time with my fav reactors!
Merry Christmas
A law suit was brought against Sony Pictures for selling ad space on the billboards for the fight in Time Square by the owners of those billboards. Sony won because it was decided that Sony sold ad space in their own film, not on the actual billboards.
Best Peter Parker, best spider man best cast best movie was and will be always ❤️
TOBEY MAGUIRE FOR EVEEEEEER!!!!!
It really is a fine movie.
now you should also watch Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spiderman 1 & 2 bcoz its also part of the MCU now 💁🏻♀️ for me im a TASM2 fan while my husband is more of Tobey Spidey fan 💁🏻♀️ so were both quite not on the same page of who’s the better Spidey over the other but i personally think Tobey, Andrew and Tom are both phenomenal Spidey’s in their own right💁🏻♀️🕷🕷🕷
My list begins and ends with Tobey. That's Spider-Man to me.
Are you talking about Smart Hulk? You can't just forget about the "real" Hulk in the movies before
BTW, those abs were not CGI, he had to work for those.
i was thinking of that too
This is Sam Raimi. Not some low-life marvel director.
@Miles Doyle who let you escape from the mental hospital ?
MJ is in high school but Spider-Man’s age is unknown to the public lol. He could be 30. Funny to think about.
i guess so haha
Marian reminds me of Lia Ponce

@19:03 Peters parents (Mary and Richard Parker) are dead. that's why Peter lives with his aunt and uncle, Uncle Ben was Richards older brother.
i see, glad to know that! thank you
His mother was a spider and his father was a spider, too. Spiderman
Recommendation for you to react: Pontypool (2008), this movie is excellent.
EL LOCIUTOR DE RESEL MANIA ES EL ACTOR EVIL DEATH JUNOU PRIMO DEL DIRETOR DE LA MOVIE Y DESPUES SALE SU PROIMO EN ESPAIDER MAN 2😁😁😎😎👍👍👏👏👏🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱

You've got to watch all the old Spiderman movies before the latest, not just this one. Otherwise there are things you won't understand.

@@MJoy4Fun I’m old enough where Iv seen all the Spider-Man movies with this generation being my second grade genera lol
@Miles Doyle well, God bless you too
You should see "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" movie. Highly recommended.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 legendary 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yup, the tragic hero stereotype...ditto for Batman, Robin, Superman, etc...tragedy made them heroes
Plssss Spider-Man 2 Reaction 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hulk was gamma radiation
@Miles Doyle it's all make believe
Check out the movie K-Pax. I think you may find it fun and interesting.
@Miles Doyle Well as this reply is to my suggestion to view K-Pax I must assume it has to do with one particular scene where the alien(?) denigrates established religions of earth. I disliked the scene myself and see it as atypical hollywood. At the same time it must be considered it comes from a space alien (most likely) and it takes far more faith and belief to believe in space aliens than it does the GOD of the holy bible.
Godspeed if you dive into the Marvel shows. WOOF
You have to watch all 3 Tobey Maguire Spider-Man’s from 2002 2004 2007 and also the 2 Andrew Garfield spiderman movies from 2012 and 2014… otherwise spiderman no way home will make no sense at all
ofcourse we will!! thank you for the heads up!
@@MJoy4Fun you guys are the best ! Keep up the great work !
