Each pilot has a Callsign . . . hers was Avenger. And I don't understand why some people throw shade at this flick. I think it's just fine.
The film was pretty average, not great and not terrible. Most of the shade comes from people who didn't like the actress. Her comments about lack of diversity among reviewers in the film industry were taken out of context and made the focus of a huge social media campaign attacking her.

Next one is ENDGAME finally. All the movies have been leading up to this although i hope you guys keep watching the MCU after that. It's been a fun and emotional journey
I LOVE CAPTAIN MARVEL! This MOVIE is so much fun and the messages, everything! Can’t wait for the sequel, The Marvels
One of my faves. A lot of subtle understated character moments in this film that a lot of folks seem to miss.
Plus Ben Mendelsohn gets to use his actual real accent for once!
I agree. I love seeing all the lore that came through that movie but it also have huge implication for the future we still havent seen
I love everyone's reactions to Goose eating the cube. My first time seeing this, it was like Ryan Reynolds with that dog in Blade Trinity
People got angry about how Nick's eye got the scar, but to me it makes perfect sense as he is a man to exaggerate things and not always tell everything so in Winter Solider when he says I Trusted Someone do you really think people would look at him as a badass leader if he said "I held an alien species called a Flurkien that looks like a cat and it clawed my eye"? No so of course to make things sound better than they were he didn't say everything.
Forgot the detiles but it was epic war/veteran story behind him loosing hes eye and they made it in to a joke, so i get why they are mad

It's so much fun watching you guys watching these. And you've gotten pretty good at figuring out what's going on and why. After Endgame I suggest you watch the Wandavision series then ALL the Spider-Man movies (Toby Magurie, Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland). You'll get more out of No Way Home if you do.

you guys didn't show it but Fury looks at Goose and says something like... "Now, I'm trusting you" and in Captain America The Winter Soldier he says "Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye"
Great reaction! You definitely followed this movie better than any other reactors I’ve watched. Many of them were very confused for a lot of this and didn’t pick up on some of the clues (like Blockbuster video meaning this was in the past) that you picked up on immediately. Congrats!

In the comics Scarlett Witch is supposed to be the most (or one of the most) powerful mutant, but in the MCU is not a mutant. In both worlds we have as well to Doctor Strange, so is difficult to choose the final winner. I'm not counting characters as Phoenix, Sentry, Hulking, etc.

LOVE how much you guys enjoyed this movie! I do feel like the "establishing" films of each hero (Thor, Cap, Iron Man) sometimes feel a bit slower than the "team-up" ones, but this one was still a lot of fun and hit a lot of the emotional beats that we expect from the MCU. You both caught on to things other reactors miss and I love that you actually stop the movie and talk about it. Can't wait for ENDGAME!!

I have to say, I love watching you two work things out. I didn't hate this movie as much as a lot of people did -- I've always liked the Captain Marvel from the comics, and although this is really one of the weakest films, it wasn't bad at all.
There are some differences between the MCU and the comics. In regards to this film, Skrulls are definitely bad guys (in the words of Ben Grimm, worse than Nazis -- oh how I hope they finally make a decent Fantastic Four film!). I enjoy the differences, though; it means a comic fan like me can still be surprised by the MCU.
In short -- wonderful reaction!
The way I've always seen it, "Infinity War" is part 1, and "Endgame" is part 2. So I'm looking forward to the thrilling conclusion. :)

I really like this movie. I dont understand the hate it gets. Maybe its due to its placement, between Infinity War and Endgame. I wonder if people would had felt different if this was released before infinity war. I cant wait for the next movie!
Scarlett Johansson should have gotten her Black Widow movie before that plank-of-wood, talentless hack. She deserved better.
A lot of the bad feeling towards it was mostly due to the bland acting of Brie. It might be due to the script not giving her really great dialog.

the asian actress who played 1 of the cree is also in the eternals movie but in the lead role and you'd never recognize her from this

Which was (spoiler alert)…. one of the names her daughter used when she got her powers in the comics.

Another MCU film! This one wasn't received that well from the fans but i liked the story and the concept of it. Its a good family movie and it was unique in its own way like another comment mentioned. That being said the one after THIS ONE. Oh boy you guys are not ready Marian and Joy!

I liked this movie; it was fun seeing a younger, more carefree Fury.
This was a fun movie. A lot of people don't like Brie. I don't know her outside of this movie - but she was brainwashed to be a Kree - those guys are heartless warriors.
So I can see her acting is a little sterile. Not in my top 5 MCU movies, but still fun - especially with Fury and Coulson.
I would say most people dislike her character in the movie itself, rather than her acting of the character. Being called a Mary sue etc.
Not in my Top 5 either but there are so many good ones it hardly matters if it's 6 or 16th. I think people thought it was thrown together too quickly to squeeze in between Infinity and Endgame, and the plot suffered from it. I can see that. It was just weird in spots - the spots with 'Rambeau' looked awkward at times, Fury and the Flerken was weird, and people were confused by how long it took the plot to unfold. And I think Vers has a built in excuse for being stoic and emotionless, not knowing who she is. That's exactly how Brie played her. I thoroughly enjoyed her role and the movie overall. Some people are just Marvel nerds.

Underappreciated movie. It’s just a good time, and it has a kinda unique feel to it compared to the rest of the mcu in a way that’s hard to articulate. The filmmaking feels a lot more grounded and tangible than a lot of the other films.
You do realize the movie still made over $1 billion,, I don't know where you getting underappreciated

@@Pinkielover He's referring to how the film was received by audiences, not the financial success. But the wave of criticism and dislike, and even now it's still widely considered one of their worst films. There isn't much appreciation for it.
@@Pinkielover it did great at the box office, but it's one of the most underappreciated MCU movies because there was a huge campaign against the film and the actress at the time. It's generally regarded as a mediocre to weak MCU entry which benefited from being released in between Infinity War and Endgame.
It's nearly as bad as its detractors would have everyone believe, though.
Oh, it is pretty easy to articulate imho...it is one of the few MCU movies, which has a really amazing meta-story going on. It's exploration about the effect of systemic sexism is pretty spot on. Sadly there are some weaknesses in the editing which pulls the movie a little down on a technical level, but I think the strength of the themes make up for it in spades.
I love Captain Marvel.

True story: When I watched this movie in a theater, that theater was seen across the parking lot when she emerges from the Blockbuster she crashed through. Those of us watching in that theater at the time gasped when we realized what we were seeing! The year before, for a few weeks that parking lot was filled with production equipment. No one knew what movie until that moment watching in the theater.

Honestly, you two are great at piecing stuff together & figuring out all of the connections between all of the MCU movies as a whole. {I don't know if you edited it out, but that black kree soldier is the same character that stopped Star-Lord from stealing that gem in the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy. He didn't know of Star-Lord or ever heard of him? Just pointing it out...}
OK, pretty soon you're going to have to start watching the Marvel TV shows to understand what's going on in some of the movies. BTW, ALL of the Marvel shows...including What IF... to a certain extent, but it's a pretty good show anyways. So, just stick to release order & you'll be fine.
But, I don't get why the Marvel MCU casuals & fake fans hated this movie. My guess was that it was heavy around the time of calling everything "woke" because the main character is a strong female; The same thing happened when Black Widow came out, SMH.
In the comics, Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers has just started becoming less of a "Karen" and having more a personality for a couple of years now. But, in the movies, it makes sense why she acted the way she did & towards the end, her interactions with a young Monica Rambeau shows how she's changed somewhat. Whatever, Great Reactions tho!
Many fans don't realize Brie Larson won an Oscar for her role in the Room (2015)

Great reaction again. Like others are saying, a lot of people hated on this movie ... and I can't figure out why. I totally enjoyed this film. The twist about the Skrulls was great. All the back story about Fury and Coulson are fun. And Captain Mar vell herself is a great character. I can't wait for your End Game reaction.
Carol is Captain Marvel, in the MCU there wasn't ever a Captain Mar-Vell, since Lawson was just a scientist and not a superhero herself.

@@dennytaylor1005 I think most of the hate towards the movie itself (not including targeting specifically actors) came from the fact that she came across as a Mary sue character to many, pretty much like a Rey in the newer star wars situation, which I tend to agree with somewhat.

@@dennytaylor1005 A “mary sue” basically boils down to a character having little to no challenge/opposition to juxtapose their accomplishments. Theres a video that goes more in depth which compares captain marvel to black widow if you want to hear someone more knowledgable than me talk about it, its by Abbie Emmons.

Captain American & Wonder Woman both came before Captain Marvel as far a super heroes, but the Avengers were started with Captain Marvel.
The Avengers name was based upon Carol's callsign, but she wasn't an original Avenger. Heck, she wasn't even on Earth when Fury got the idea and didn't return until 20 years later. And the Avengers movie came out in 2012, long before hers (or Wonder Woman's)

I put off watching this movie for the longest time because knew nothing about Captain Mar-vell/Marvel. I am glad I finally did! I really enjoyed this movie and also your reaction. Looking forward to more MCU!

In the comics, every team has one "Doesn't play well with others" character whose ruthless direct approaches make them a loose cannon that clashes with the rest of the team's heroic ambitions--Don't worry, we're not SUPPOSED to like Carol Danvers and her Kree/AirForce fistiness, and neither does Tony Stark. And while female audiences cheap-cheered the "Prove to me that--" "*BLAMMO!*" moment, was anyone else reminded of Indiana Jones shooting the Arab swordsman?...The difference being, we knew Indy would, and Carol, well, WOULD.

Such a good movie. Better then it got credit for. Yeah, Bree's performance was a little wooden which is a shame cause she seems like a really fun person. Little bit of that coming thru would have helped. Still I don't think it takes much away from the movie.

I can day besides black window and captain America this is my favorite lot of marvel fan says this movie sucked but i disagree it was fun ride felt like ole super hero movie ones from Christopher reeves superman.

Yep in the MCU she's more powerful, when they introduced that was the whole idea. Captain Marvel is the MCU's big blue "Kryptonian" character.
In the comics it's the reverse- Captain Marvel is powerful, but well below Thor and Hulk's level. The MCU changed things up.

Logically captain Marvel should be first Avenger and captain America 2nd
Captain Marvel wasn't the first Avenger because she wasn't part of the team until she met them for the first time in this end-credits scene. And Captain America came along 50 years before Carol Danvers got her powers. She's the inspiration for the team name Fury chose, but she wasn't part of the team until much later.
Capt Marvel I consider a required watch for my daughter, i love taking her to movies where the woman is the hero. Growing up i showed her all women lead movies so she knows this is not a mans world. We need strong women to set us men straight... as it is in our native culture... you cannot make a lethal war move unless you have the woman council agree (as they are the keepers of perpetual life), this was strangely left out when they formulated the US govt after the eastern native american treaties of old. Curiously you now have old white men as president, in positions of power across the board... just look for a minute... its all old white men clinging to power time and again for the past 200 years.
(Grunting) well, let me know when you're back to classic films from the 70s / 80s / 90s

In the MCU Carol would probably beat Thor, but it wouldn't be easy. Feige said when they introduced her that she'd be the most powerful character yet- even above Thor, and with the infinity stone origin, she fit that description.
In the comics Captain Marvel is much less powerful than Thor, but the MCU is a different universe where the power levels of characters are often different. Of course that pisses off lots of comic book Thor fanboys who can't deal with Captain Marvel being stronger than their favorite Asgardian in this reality and continue to complain to this day.
Since Endgame Captain Marvel has been surpassed by Wanda as the most powerful overall, but she's definitely the most powerful conventional hero (not including the reality warping magic users)
Why do you think the movie made her look weak? For most of the film she only had access to a small fraction of her power. When she broke free of the Supreme Intelligence's control and tapped her full potential, she didn't look weak at all.

Note to Hollywood - Stop using Top Gun as your baseline for fighter pilot culture. Top Gun is a depiction of naval aviators who have a very insular culture based on WWI dogfighting dogma of unrelenting aggression while every other group of combat pilots adopted the lessons of WWII's 332nd Fighter Group where discipline and not aggression is the key to victory in the air. So here they have air force officers acting like navy officers, and I blame Hollywood's obsession with Top Gun. In reality Air Force officers are stick up their backside levels of serious professional which was one of the things I loved about the comic book Captain Marvel. Here she has been reduced to Super Karen.
You cannot even identify a Karen personality correctly, so why should we listen to anything you say about military culture?

Furthermore, the term has been sort of mish mashed interchangeably with “mary sue” which is incorrect but not conducive to make their claim unreasonable, as they were using it in that context.
Too powerful, making the powers of everyone else in the MCU trivial not a good idea.
