- Even if you’re not a hot dog fan, you’ve probably found yourself hosting a barbecue or party where you’ve had to buy them at the grocery store. After you’ve had your Steve Martin-esque tantrum about buns being sold in packs of 12 while hot dogs are sold in packs of eight, you’ve probably wondered about which hot dog brand is actually the best. Should you shell out the extra money for Nathan’s Famous, or will no one taste the difference if you don’t tell them? Let’s take a look at the best and worst hot dogs to buy at the grocery store.

What do you consider to be the ultimate hot dog?
Thumann's
A dog thats over heating in the hot sun
Sabrett are the best by far. You can grill them, steam them and Dirty Dog boil them . They hold up like a champ and keep a snap.
Uncured bison dogs (no nitrates or other chemicals), they are sold frozen usually at health food stores, uncured beef hot dogs next best
Ones that I make myself.
I love how they keep complaining about nutritional facts. If you’re eating a hotdog, you don’t care about nutrition.
You folks are missing the absolute best hotdog by far. It's the Zenner brand Coney dogs made in Portland, Or. They come in regular and foot-long size. Absolutely the best taste.Look em up
You should care about everything you eat. If you saw the foods people buy and what condition they are in like I can, you will care.
Yeah, like that ship has sailed.
Franks & beans.
@@frankthetank1779 yes the best isn't always the most expensive either. Hot dogs are the Crap meats from all the other Stuff the can't do much with. Lots of Salts and Preservatives in them. Not the Best Choice in Meats, but on a Hot day they are the Best. Yummy Pork and Beans, OH how l remember them as a kid and loved them. Best cheap meal ever.
Honorable mention: Costco's Kirkland hotdogs from their food court. Consistent quality, 100% beef, warm sesame seed bun, served in under a minute, soda included all for $1.50.
yEP, was about to mention kirkland Costco dogs. i usually buy a pack or Nathan's which is also sold at Cotco
Don't forget the long lost polish dogs...
Kirkland hotdogs are indeed good. I buy Hebrew National though because the dogs can be separated after freezing.
I agree. We buy the Kirkland hot dogs in a three bag with 12 in each! Best ever!
Another honorable mention: Member's Mark quarter pound frank.
Hebrew National and Nathan’s are my total favs! About time I got something right!👍🏼😎
Don't forget Vienna Brand. An amazing Chicago dog staple.
To me, they are the best. Nathans is good also, but behind Vienna. Both will do, however.
I was shocked Vienna was not on the list. Love those
Hebrew National and Nathan's are the best two we've found, totally agree here.
I agree with you I grew up on them.
Boar's Head Knockwurst are a great hot dog alternative. Slather the bun with sauerkraut, onions, mustard, relish, ketchup, and a good beer on the side and you will be in heaven, or at least, my heaven.
Vienna is Chicago's famous dog. They bought David Berg Co. that used to have a lock on the stadium sales, not available retail.
Both have a flavor unmatched compared to others, but similar to Nathan's and HN.
Unforuntately, they are made in Chicago. The "corruption premiun" makes them the most expensive, anywhere.
How 'bout a Nathan's on a Hawaiian hot dog bun with spicy mustard? Its the BEST!
Hebrew Nats. The real best.
I always buy Hebrew franks, I love them. I have a mini old fashioned hot dog roller/cooker and they come out great every time.
Again I thank you for the information!
I am glad I found this RUclips channel!
My mom had to feed a family on a tight budget. We ate Bar-S, and thought it delicious -- not knowing other brands.
We were so poor we had a black and white package that just said Hot Dogs.
@Steve Guard lol
given the choice Bar-S or a lard sandwich the choice is clear
You are right and we should be thankful for all our food. From a strictly culinary perspective, I find Bar S to have a kind of funky, livery flavor, are greasy and the ends explode when cooked. That said, if you're hungry, they are delicious.
Edit: I just had the Bar S all beef dogs in the microwave and they were good for being cooked in a microwave. All beef was greasy but good.
@@seizod I don't buy Bar S nowadays. As a kid, it was the only brand I knew -- so there was no comparison to other brands. Yes, they were delicious with my mom's homemade chili.
THE BEST HOT DOG IS THE ONE YOU LIKE
You know that is the most truth to be told!
Yess
Wrong!!! The best hot dog is the one EVERYBODY likes.
@@armanflint then that would be none
That's what she said🤣
My dad was a foreman in an Oscar Mayer meat plant in the 1950s. He would NOT eat a hot dog ....and told us Why. It stuck with me for life . I'm 75 yrs old and carry on his tradition.
Totally agree. So happens that your top 3, are the ones I buy interchangeably at my local supermarkets.
Hebrew National is by far my favorite, even though I’ve had Nathan’s a lot before as well. Hebrew has so much flavor and an exceptional bite. I think they may be overshadowed by the popularity of Nathan’s, but are generally a better overall frank.
too salty...Nathans dinner dogs are the best.
i swear buy Nathan's.
foxfff123123 Nathans Rule!
You hit both of what we buy. I go for Nathan's first then Hebrew National.
foxfff123123 my daughter in law grew up in New Jersey and says Sabretts hot dogs are her favorites. We can’t get them in Texas yet.
Also, I don't cook my hot dogs in the microwave, I either boil or grill them.
Grill or steam, but yeah no microwave;e.
I cook them in a toaster oven or air fryer.. tastes alomost like grilled but much faster. And you can get them slightly burned like I like them
boiling is a disgrace
@@RealMacJones He said he made them how he like to, and he have a right to do that. Smh.
Same here...never gave microwaving hotdogs a thought...was raised boiling or grilling them.
The bar-s hot dogs are my go to fishing bait. A package of 8 at my local Walmart is $1.08. I use them to catch bait for bass
They are the hot dog with less salt, something like 430 salt
😂😂😂
Do the fish like them?
@@melissacooper8724 don’t know don’t care. They work and that’s what matters
As a kid, my family never ate out. Absolutely never, because we couldn't afford it. Mom's "go to" fast meal was a couple of cans of chili with a package of hotdogs cut up into the chili, served over a slice of bread with chopped onions on top.
I usually prefer Nathan's or Hebrew National hot dogs, but the price seemed high for something to chop into canned chili during Covid. Aldi has a pack of 8 hotdogs for 95 cents that are marked "original" that actually taste like 1960's hot dogs. Definitely better than anything I've bought from Oscar Meyer in decafes.
and the next day at school all the kids shyed away from u because of the terrible smell in the air ppphhhhaaaarrrrtttssss😜😜
I am in my 90's and still make a meal out of a Nathan and chili from a can over a hot dog bun. Too much work to dice some onion, but it's good if you do. Sometimes sour cream if I have some left.
yeah😀
you were livin large. my mom's "go to" was baby food sandwiches.
@@rickreeve1246 We were poor, but dental hygiene was mandatory.
..."when your hot dog shrinks..."
Sounds like a personal problem.
Lol 😆
TOO funny!😅😂🤣😂😅😂🤣
Thats what she said.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
there's a pill for that.
Vienna all beef hot dogs are the best! The Chicago dog!
dazzo's dog house across from the high school i went to served only these, i would get two on my walk home from school. they're still there and good as ever
a little on the pricey side though.
Vienna is a company in Chicago, IL. I know they are sold also in Wisconsin, but you would do better contacting the company in Chicago and ask about distribution.
@@stevensenlacere1619 what's up with Chicago and ketchup on a hot dog? My attitude is simple...I bought it and I'll dress it any way I want it. Apparently Chicagoans think differently.
Hot Dog Heaven in Orlando,Fl. has Chicago Vienna Hot Dogs! Family came from Chicago and I go there for the past 15 years and Chicago Beef sandwiches!
Hell no they're not they taste like spam which are both disgusting
I love a good snap and crunch, also grew up in NY, so I go for Sabretts with the natural casing at all times!
I grew up in Long Island, and we never had anything but Sabretts. 🤤
thats awesome. your order was the same as mine for the brands I have eaten. bar s, oscar meyer, ball parrk, sabrett hebrew national and nathans
Great list, however you guys missed Chicago’s very own Vienna beef hotdogs, great taste and snap to this hotdog, cooks great whether on the grill or microwave!
Yup, have to agree! When I lived in Chicago, I frequented the Vienna factory near Fullerton and Damien. A Vienna Beef Chicago dog, as well as a Maxwell Street Polish, are iconic!
i love this type of honesty!!! Except when it's directed at me!!!
I live in Rochester NY and Zweigles Pop-opens are the go to for us. Buffalo has Sahlen's and Syracuse has Heid's. Love them all.
Great review. Regarding lack of taste, my wife and I have noticed recently how ground beef, not uncommonly, has no taste whatsoever e.g. hamburgers grilled outside. That experience has led me to wonder if fillers with no are being mixed into the ground beef. Historically there was a time when things like sawdust or chalk were put into meat to increase profit margin.
unlikely they would be sued into oblivion for putting filler in without it showing up on the label due to the potential for allergies probably try a ground beef with more fat or a better brand though also if you got covid it can mess up your sense of taste for a long time though it does slowly fade.
Find a supermarket like Cubs Food, that takes their cut meat trimmings and still grind them daily or so into 80/20 hamburger
There's a brand I had growing up in NJ: Thumanns. Once you've had a Thumann's beef/pork hot dog in natural casing, you'll never want to eat another brand again. No additives/preservatives/dyes. You get them in a 5 lb package all connected to each other-- just like in the old cartoons! And they plump up & crack open when you grill them-- the better to stuff with cheese or jalepenos or whatever you want to. So glad I found a distributer out here in TX. It just wouldn't be summer without them!
please tell me WHERE?
@@susiebear3316 She's in Dallas, but I can't find the info right now. It's in our receipts-- which my husband has filed in a system totally undecipherable to me- LOL! I'll ask him where it is when he gets home from work tonight.
Thumann is the best. They make all their stuff in Carlstadt NJ, 2 miles from my house
Totally agree invite me to next barbecue 😋
People who cook hot dogs in the microwave are the worse kind of monster out there. 😂
What a way mess up a good hot 🥵 dog
Those are the same people that don't cut their toast on the diagonal.
Guilty. I ain't grilling up a couple dogs for myself & I ain't waiting on water to boil. 😐
“Cooking” anything in the microwave is disturbing to me for any food... I reheat my leftovers at midnight but I’m never proud of it
Lol. I do that all the time. But I don't get you buddy. Lol
I had some all beef ball parks the other day(my wifes fave) and I decided to try my own comparison. I went to walmart and bought nathans and hebrew nationals. Cooked them all the same in the same skillet in butter with diagonal cuts in them. My favorite was the nathans followed by hebrew and then ball park. BUT they were pretty close. Nathans and hebrew had a little stronger flavor but for the price I think I will stick with the ball parks as the others weren't that much better to me. They were 2 bucks more per pack but not that much better.
We've always found the Hebrew Nationals to be very salty. Here in Western North Carolina, Nathan's are our dogs of choice - but if Sabrett were easy to find we've put them at number one.
I want to try Nathan and Hebrew on the grill.using pieces of pecan wood
I have tried Bar S, Oscar Meyer, Ball Park, Hebrew National and Nathan's. You are spot on with all five. Nathan's are my favorite. Don't have some of the others on the west coast. Many cost more than I am willing to pay for a hot dog anyway.
When you’re in the upper Midwest and can find them, try a Koegel’s Vienna. No finer dog on the market. And Kowalski makes a killer one, too. (BTW: agree 100% with your ranking of Bar S - had the misfortune of eating them once but they were full of bone chunks and way too salty).
Koegels , when I go to Michigan I live on them and I load up on them to bring home
The only hot dogs to buy. We mail order them now that we don't live in Michigan anymore. Koegel's Vienna's are the bomb. Worth paying shipping on them.
Yesss! And that's not the thing to their baloney rings are amazing to! I'm in partial to every other type since growing up with them lol
Koegel makes the best hotdogs period. They make the best bologna too, fry it up until the edges are crispy slap it on some soft white bread and your in heaven.
Oh my god they sale Frank’s with bone parts in them really.!?
There should be some where to
Report this omg.!
New York City Sabrett hot dogs are the best topped with the usual mustard, cooked onions and sauerkraut
I agree but why did they stop Natural Casings?
I agree they are fantastic hotdogs I especially like the hot sausage Sabretts.
BJ’s wholesale club carries Sabretts and also Dietz and Watson I made a comparison with both of them. To me Sabretts taste better.
@@audreybooth9406 The natural casings are the best ones, they still make them according to their site. They make both.
Yesss
Nathan’s always been my favorite as a kid and still is today. Nathan’s and Sabrets probably best tasting hotdogs. Can’t go wrong on both
Those two were all they needed on the list imo.
I tried an actual Nathan's Hot Dog while on a trip to New York City at a Nathan's location on Long Island!! It wasn't a bad hot dog. I actually ate four of them, two with chili and two with just mustard!! Not the best food I have ever eaten mind you, but I can say that the Hot Dogs Nathan's makes are way better then cheap store hot dogs, and I can understand why they are so popular!! They do have their own "flavor" and their texture is unique to their brand, which is NOT a bad thing!! I would enjoy having a few more Nathan's Hot Dogs, if they had a location near where I live here in New York State, but I am too far away from the city to just drive there for a Hot Dog reasonably!! Their hot dog chili on the other hand is out of this world, and I do have to say a Nathan's Chili Dog is a treat to look forward too....If I ever go back to New York City!! Especially with the cheese and onions on top of it!!
I love Hebrew national hot dogs
Hot dogs are good but taste-wise they will never compare to a bratwurst
i dont mind shelling out a little extra for the Hebrew National dogs. i'm not much of a brand loyalist but i make an exception for HN. Costco's Kirkland dogs are also really good.
Sahlens Smokehouse dogs are the only ones I'll buy. :) I usually freeze about 9 lbs to bring home whenever I'm in Western NY. Thick natural casing, very little fat. Always broil, never steam or boil. Ted's Hot Dogs restaurants broil over charcoal, too. Delicious!
YES!!!!!!
100% Teds are FABULOUS! Always serving SAHLENS BEST!!!

They actually sell them down here in Florida at Publix supermarket. By far the best
Are those ones that look like the wrapped in the natural casing? If so yes those are good
My wife visited her daughter in Chicago, and was introduced to Parkview hotdogs. She found a local grocery that sometimes has them. I finally tried them, and I think they're the best hotdog I've every had. They are uncured, and delicious.
Aldi
Uncured? What's that mean?
@@VG-rj8pn Uncured means no added nitrate. Same with bacon.
Vienna is offical Chicago hot dog
@@VG-rj8pn Uncured? No chemicals.
I worked in the meat processing for 30 yrs Smithfield Foods The best hot dog out there is by far Hebrew National made out of lean kosher cuts When other companies usually are made out of emulsified beef hearts with more additives than you want to know about
Oh, yes. Hebrew National is the gold standard of hot dogs!
They’re kosher..
That's RIGHT‼️thanks
Five Star all beef are my favourites. Excellent flavour and a natural casing, which is a must for me.
Casper's, Nathan's, and Oscar Meyer 100% Angus Beef are my favorites.
those Nathan's quarter pounders are my favorite.
I love Nathan's too until I found out they are owned by communist China. Stopped buying them now.
I eat Jennie O all the time, they are good and often eat them with onions and chili. Sometimes I eat them raw and it is a good flavor. For thanksgiving I bought a "Jennie O" Turkey, outstanding too!!!
I grew up on bar s mostly because mom would buy them and I'd top them with chili anyways so I never gave the weenie taste much thought. However since I've grown and moved out I tried different brands with *okay* success, until I gave Nathan's a try although I was put off slightly by the price point. However they definitely have the best taste all around
Koegel's is my favorite but it's a regional brand (Michigan and surrounding areas). Sabrett is good and I can actually buy them at my local supermarket.
Guess this survey must have been taken by people that have never left the East coast. Can't believe that Vienna Beef hot dogs left off this list!
Vienna's are a quality dog, the flavor isn't as intense as some other quality dogs tho.
I agree. I moved from Northern Illinois to Utah in 1992. The only time I found Vienna Beef was when I go back home.
Born and raised in Chicago. You are correct!!
Sabrett's franks in natural casing are the best, available from venders all over NYC. Get 'em with kraut and big squirt of Gulden's spicy brown mustard.
Ehmer's brand dogs are really good too. An Ehmer's store in Hillsdale NJ sets up a vending wagon with their dogs grilled fresh all day 'till closing time.
In a blind taste test, Great Value brand was 2nd to Sabrets and placed 2 places above both Nathan's and Hebrew National!!
I was kind of surprised that Kogel Viennas didn't make the cut. They're really big in Michigan. They don't sell them where I live now so I have to order them and have them shipped to California from Michigan.
those are the 2nd best I have ever had. Hoffmans are number 1 skin on.
Yes I agree with you don't forget to order Dearborn hot dog's hot.
Koegel’s are the best
Hey who likes to cut up cooked hotdogs and mix them with Beans ? I love them with Bush beans the best.
Beanie Weinnies !!!!!!!!!
The Best !!!!!!!!
Yup. But I put the hotdog in a roll and then add the Bush beans.
My Brother from another Mother
Sheldon likes them n spaghetti 🤔🤔🤔
ORIGINAL BUSHES BAKED BEANS WITH HOTDOGS ARE Y E S!!!!!
Shop Rite sells Black Bear brand...natural casings.Outstanding either boiled or grilled
Kosher dogs for me. I shared some with friends that grew up in Hawai'i and they were amazed. You can buy kosher hot dogs in Hawai'i, but few natives have ever eaten one. My first kosher hot dog was at Wrigley Field, watching the Cubs. What a glorious day that was.
Only difference between a Hot dog from what you ate saying is its been prayed over by a Jew! Nothing more and when l worked in a Nursing Home some 15 yrs ago l.use to go in the Pantry and touch all the foods in there didn't know it was Jewish because it was sitting on the floor with the rest of the foods! Really not true. Only difference is some have Chicken, Beef Pork and now we have Vegan! Ugh nothing more!!
They forgot the absolute best hotdog “Vienna Beef”! Da Best!
They are expensive, but taste great
Yep. Why is Vienna beef not on this?
They're only big in Chicago!
jemey6 Daisy Dogs are great only in Chicago area I think,
Yes. They did not include Vienna hot dogs. 100%beef
I knew when the video started that Nathan's and Hebrew National would be the top two!
Yup. Boar's Head makes really good ones too
Walmarts are Nathans. Wish they had kraut. It,s good for u .
It would not be a legit list if they were not.
@The Barefoot Kid Nathan's has not changed anything.
Miller and caspers are the best
How do you rate Saugies hot dogs from out of Rhode Island??? They were my favorites when I was a kid and I always looked for them .
We have a local brand that sells online across the world..Koegels Viennas made in Flint Michigan are a coney island favorite for decades...very flavorful and they have that snap from a natural casing...
Love Koegels, they’re sold at Meijer stores here in Indiana
I literally just commented this lol best hotdogs ever. Is it really just a michigan thing?
Meijer I thought was just michigan as well.
@@goblue7100 they are based in Michigan but sell online also.
Some of the smaller deli brands get forgotten until you taste them. Albert's natural casing,Smith's hot dogs, Kuenzler are amazing. I love enjoying a 1/4 pound All Beef Deli Dogs fresh off the grill with homemade chili sauce.
Oh hell yes. Smith's hotdogs are amazing!
I was very much a Nathan's guy until my family started buying Sabrett's. Any of your top 3 would be fine, but Sabrett is my first choice.
We called them "dirty water" hotdogs and I always loved running into a Sabrett cart. Their tangy onions are a taste treat.
remeber sabrets on the carts nyc a buck back then
Bar S Beanie Weenie when you've got $2 for dinner... Lol
Kirkland brand! Nathan's is okay, but for the price, I'm not impressed when Kirkland offers high quality for less.
Without a doubt
AND WE HAVE A WINNER!
A fellow I know who was involved with the Boy Scouts for a long time went to hot dog school, yep it's a real thing, and he told me something to always remember about hot dogs. Meat shrinks when you cook it and grain expands when you cook it. If you like meat hotdogs remember this.
Costco dogs are excellent.
That was Freaking great! Hilarious!
You can always slow cook Italian sausage and top it with grilled peppers and onions. Better than any hot dog.
Oscar mayer used to be the best but Heinze bought the company and recipe has been drastically changed for the worst in my opinion
i agree
Exactly 💯
A 100% accurate statement. Kraft/Heinz has destroyed more than this once excellent brand.
And I thought it was just me who noticed that..
om always was what you talking about
Dietz and Watson is just a generally good brand. I have yet to be disappointed in anything they've put out
fav..
Costco Hot Dogs are actually quite good, though I miss them using Hebrew National & most particularly their polish dogs, but they had to start making their hot dogs in-house to keep the price to customers the same, as they do their rotisserie chickens.
Sorry but Costco are the pits and like a zoo.
Hebrew National are now the worst.
I always thought they're still Hebrew National. I guess the difference in taste isn't that big or I just haven't gone back to costco in a while
I don't admire Costco's tactic of putting price above quality. They are low class.
Hebrew Nationals are good, but, for me, a bit too salty to et on the reg. Nathan's tastes best IMO, but they have a certain taste that I sometimes grow tired of. For me, Ball Park Beef is my goto hotdog.
Very salty
Yeah, but that lady said ball park wasn't good or expensive enough.
They are the most expensive; at least you know they are Kosher!
Good choice, my favorite. Don't know a damn thing about salt or nutrition for them, but they taste best.
Ball Park are more grain than others.
Marge: "It's mostly just snouts and entrails."
Homer: "Mmmmmm, snouts."
🤢🤢🤢 Snoop Dog lost it when he saw how hotdogs are made!!! 🤮🤮
Let's not forget the ear and gowel trimmings.....Yummy!
Vienna all beef hot dogs and polish sausage Chicago style can’t be beat..and tried em all over the years ..they have a great line of products..including there sport peppers..😅
I was pleased to see you rated Nathan's first. They really are delicious. I buy them in the Pacific Northwest so they are no doubt available nation-wide.
Nathan's and Hebrew National, both too salty for my taste.
Yes Vienna Beef are the best and wait until a week before the expiration date at the store.....then they mark them down at half price. Then just put them in the freezer until ready to eat.
Boar's Head dogs rule! However, Hebrew National makes a great hot dog as well. Nathan's? That's an emotional decision that depends on what you're used to.
K. M. (Kayem) beef and pork natural casing are my favorite grilled, boiled, steamed or uncooked cold (as a kid). In a New England style roll buttered and grilled both sides and topped with diced onions, sweet relish and brown mustard. Mmmmm. I'll have two. Available at deli's or supermarkets in the northeast.
Purefoods Deli Angus are amazing on a BBQ. I have Oscar Mayer Angus and scared to eat them because people are saying they are terrible. Ill try the kosher ones if they are still available (i live in a place where you get what you can when its available. Thanks for the video
Casper’s a California brand are my favorite in a natural casing. You can find them in grocery stores and Costco in norcal.
If they're pork and beef, you are a true connosuir.
Nathans and Hebrew franks are what I love up here in MN. Sometimes bare and sometimes loaded, either way delish!
Nathan's for sure. The Hebrew National are too salty. But are 2nd place imo too
@@drewgrows7765 agreed Hebrew has a good snap with a good skin crunch more focus on paprika and bold spices however I agree the sodium and salt is at the forefront of the pallet whereas Nathan's Frank's have little noticeable salt taste and a more mild subdued seasoning with a juicy meaty bite and an equal balance of garlic to coriander in the background that leaves your mouth watering for more
Oscar Meyer bun length original for " boiling / frying ' for dirt dogs.
Sahlens for the grill or air fryer.
A restaurant at which I worked bought a case of Bar-S for the buffet. Boiled they fell apart. They were only used one day, and the remainder were given to a farmer for his pigs. I don't know if the pigs rejected them too.
Sam's Club switched from using Nathan's at their pizza/hot dog cafe to using their own Member's Mark brand. The MM brand is similar but not quite up to the Nathan standard.
I'm from Long Island....for me, it's Hebrew National, Nathan's, or Sabrett. At least one of them is on sale every week, so I can get an 8 pack of quality dogs for about $3....can't beat that deal!
Once I had a Nathan's, I told my wife to never buy anything else ever again. They are that good.
Bobos Curse Iol I told my whole family that
There terrible. Greasy and salty

Yes,.. Nathans 😋
2 mins in, you are right on point... If you want hippy stuff don't shoot for hotdog...Yeah those last 3 are good. Don't boil them... it's like the idea of boiling spam or corned beef hash... you can do it but it need some proper love.
You missed the mark a little bit. Natural casing is what keeps the flavor of a hotdog sealed inside. The top natural casing
hotdogs are Sabrett, Nathans, and Best brand. Boars Head natural casing used to be on that list, but a few years ago, they
changed the recipe. I'll have to try the uncured version to see how that tastes. Hebrew National has no natural casing
but they are pretty good. You can't boil them though because they have no natural casing and the flavor will be lost in the
water.
Nathans are too salty and too fatty. Too me they are the wurst.
Thank you…I’m looking for dogs that have a good snap.
Ball Park Grillmaster Hearty Beef are absolutely fantastic! Even better on the grill! Aside from the gourmet dogs at the local butcher, these are excellent!
ball park is like eating D, try the best Kowalski Sausage Company of Detroit, the best
I never comment on vids but being from Chicago I had to chime in.. Red Hot Chicago and Vienna beef dogs are 1 and 2 all day
Right you are. See my reply about Chicago dogs above. Salad anyone?
Chicago hot dogs are the best ever. One of a kind.
For sure man
No argument there...
The best
Black Bear all beef natural casing sold in shop rites are excellent. another great dog are Best provisions from newark nj.
How do you rate Saugies hotdogs from out of Rhode Island??? They were my favorite when I was a kid .
About 10 years ago Oscar Meyers changed their recipe and added a snappier casing on their dogs. I only eat all Beef dogs. Been eating but not rated on here are the Kirkland Beef Hotdogs from Costco. Have to say i have eaten them with out any condiments and they are very tasty. Don't remember if they are Kosher or not.
I don't know what the problem is, but we love Oscar Meyer all beef franks, they have a really nice taste.
@@denisenichols3854 They have changed their casings to give it more of a snap when you bite them. I think they changed their recipe too.

Good one Sir 😀
The Good, the Bad and the Wurst 😀

Truly, a missed opportunity if I've ever seen one.
I agree with you 100%!
"If you're feeding kids, may as well using the cheapest." Lost me there.
It sounds bad but sadly some people have to buy the cheapest foods available. If not they may not get anything at all. Times are hard😞
Heck yeah - raise them kiddos with all the best gourmet foods - then let them discover horrible foods once they are in college. ( unless you are footing the entire college experience costs )
Must never have kids. Most families in America aren't rich. So usually foods like hot dogs and bologna are common.
As the eighth son, tenth child, in a family of thirteen, my dear old ma would disagree with you. The cheaper it was, the more we got to eat. And whatever was put on the table, we ate ... and were glad to eat it, too. No low salt, fat reduced, gluten free nonsense in my day.
Wow,what a horrible parent.I always gave my kids the best, most healthy food.
I really enjoy Nathan's brand of weiners. I have had Bar S classic franks and they are ok at best if grilled on an outdoor grill. I usually get Ball Park franks that fit a long style hot dog bun. I'll be trying out some other brands just to jazz things up. Over the years i've had Nathan's, Bar S, Ball Park Franks, Oscar Myer and maybe Eckridge weiners.
Kowalski Sausage Company of Detroit, and youll never want another Nathan shitdog
Bar s is garbage
My wife says “the best ones are the ones on sale” or 2fer.
The pack of dog vs bun gets worse.
The best Store Hot Dogs are in packs of 7.
Hebrew National.
I am AMAZED you didn't even mention them!
I was about to make a sus joke right around 6:00, but that slight innuendo that was said right after that made me say nvm lmao
This was well done. It didn't hold back from giving negative comments on some of the national brands.
Costco’s all beef dogs are pretty darn good, especially the ones at the store, wish they still had the polish ones too
Yup, the day Polish sausages disappeared from the food court I died just a little.
Agreed Costco dogs. Sam's club sold Nathan's. I thought they where terrible.
Yes! I actually think Costco’s Kirkland all beef hotdogs are better than Nathan’s.
The ones in the Costco cafeteria are really good. I might have to get their packaged hotdogs eventually to have them for lunch
@@hoodlumz1762 anything Kirkland is really good. Yes, it can be expensive but its worth it in the long run
This video did not disappoint
About 25 years ago I spent some time at the US Army War College in Carlisle, PA. In their cafeteria they served a short fat hotdog that was the best I have ever had. Unfortunately I have no idea what the brand was. My second all time favorite is the "dinner frank" from Dearborn Meats in the Detroit area. In general, I think you probably find better dogs among smaller local producers than the big supermarket brands.
I am from Michigan and up here we usually eat Kogell's brand Vienna hot dogs, Kowalski's com in a close second. Generally we prefer natural casing dogs, and of course they are the only thing you can use for a proper coney.
Koegells are great
@@parkersovereign1135👍 the best!
Don't you know that if it's west of the Hudson River, these folks just don't care about it?
kayam natural casing from the deli is #1, with bun pan fried in butter.
Here in Central New York, the best are Hoffman Franks and Snappy Grillers (Coneys). We’ve even had to ship them to friends from the area who have moved away! Now you can order online and Hoffman will ship for you……..these are the best!
my theory about condiments on hot dogs is- the more stuff you put on them the better they taste. i use homemade zucchini relish, horse radish mustard and catsup. i have to go cook some hot dogs now. bye.
When I was a little boy Shopsy were the best. They were even advistied at Maple Leaf Gardens.
