It’s funny how unpredictable drafts could be, and in hindsight if in 2017 the Colts had drafted Eddie instead of Malik Hooker it would have been a better pick, just not right then and there. So as an NFL fan I’m done questioning any pick from Gm’s as questionable as they may seem
Sam Co Malik Hooker is a very solid safety and he been doing work so far in his career. He ain’t Eddie Jackson but he also don’t have Khalil Mack forcing passes.
I'm a bears fan. Hooker was my favorite player coming out in 17. He has unique ability with the ball in the air and enormous hands. That injury he sustained his rookie year was nasty and set him back.
Finesse Gwop i‘m always a little sceptic about his qb analysis, because of some of his older stuff but he seems to have cleaned that op lately and on all of the other positions i‘m with you😂
Brett, I ding you enough on Twitter when he's doing this stuff. I'm grateful that you made a film breaking down HOW this defense is taking teams offenses apart. And make no mistake, Adrian Amos (Bears Strong Safety) is rather rangy as well.. Those two work in a great "Deep man/Robber" tandem over the middle. It freezes even QBs like Rodgers, and makes them hesitate routinely. If your WRs can't make highlight reel catches for 60 minutes, this secondary will give you fits. And, like you said, your QB still has Eddie Goldman, Akeim Hicks, Leonard Floyd, and Khalil Mack closing in on you... within 2-3 seconds. Retaining Vic Fangio, was the biggest key however. He has something going similar to what he had in San Fran, a absolute bully of a defense, that won't give up much of anything against any offense. And now, Matt Nagy and Mitchell Trubisky, are giving that defense an offense that will put up a minimum of 21 points a game. That is a DEADLY combo.
This Bears defense is so aggressive and dangerous with the ball in their hands it’s ridiculous. They all have the ability to completely change a game in one play. The Legion of Zoom?
@@mariochi1499 well as "bears fans" y'all been shit for so long y'all forget and start ripping off LOB nicknames. I'm sure you were dying to defend the bears when Cutler was there...... As u are now
My friends called me crazy last year when Jackson was drafted and I told them he would be a top 5 safety in the league in a few years. 9 weeks into his rookie season, he breaks an NFL record. In his second year playing he wins Defensive Player of the Month and is now in contention for DPOY? I'm happy being crazy.
Absolutely gold as always Brett. He really reminds me of a faster Antrel Rolle. Yes he may be on the injury report at times. But this guy has a great nose for the ball. Who can also run far better than you'd expect for his size, and isn't shy about contact. Not being drafted high is not the end all be all kids. It's how you use that opportunity. I really think people need to go back to understand now why you had him so high in your mock draft.
@@morgancollins6358 when he was at bama he played through a ton of injuries that accumulated in him losing his leg against Texas A&M. He's played through them the past two years and has finally gotten healthy along with his explosiveness back this season.
@@TheRealAnteUp081 Antrel Rolle was a top defensive back when he came out of college from a powerhouse team in the Miami hurricanes (at the time of the early 2000s). Antrel and Eddie played through injuries in college that resulted in them losing their explosiveness until they got their strength and explosion back. If you have to look at antrel when he was in Chicago late in his career, then you haven't really paid attention to the athletes full careers. Both playmakers who can play centerfield, FS with ease and both know how to take angles with good hands. Its their main reasons why both were picked high in their respective drafts. Eddie just had horrible luck being drafted while dealing with a healing leg.

On the topic of the bears defense: im not sure this fits the format of your show but I’d be interested in your take on why there haven’t been many defense oriented teams this year that are doing well, when traditionally defense is considered to win championships. Some of the best defenses stat wise have pretty mediocre records like the jags, ravens, broncos or bills, while teams like the chiefs, patriots, rams and saints are lighting up the league. If I think back to past superbowl winners, most of them have had at least decent offenses, but even as recent as the legion of boom or the 2016 broncos are some teams that definitely more better on defense than offense. Or is this all just a coincidence, either way I’d be happy to hear your opinion on this.
Brian JOnker i think so as well, i feel like the bears or texans despite their weaknesses on offense might be the team to beat in the post season because of their defenses
The reason is probably that there's a ton of new blood and new schemes. The past few drafts have had some insanely good players, even if they weren't all first rounders. We can't fully identify a player's tendencies until a couple of years in and those years haven't passed quite yet. When these tendencies are found it's usually the offensive players that take the biggest hit. As for the new schemes we have guys like Sean McVay whose scheme popped into the league just last year, no defense truly understands how it works just yet and they're getting beat because of it. In a similar vein Andy Reid's system is also fairly new. Some of it was present in previous years, but with Mahomes being more physically capable than Smith ever was it just now got fully released. It'll take a while to understand it as well. I compare the situation to what happened when Peyton Manning had his record year with the Broncos only to get clobbered in the Super Bowl. As one Seahawks player put it everyone else was trying to react to the Broncos offense but the Seahawks kept attacking it and forced the offense to react to them. Right now every team is startled by these new offenses and is reacting to them. Once they get over their shock they'll start to turn the tables. I refer to it as the Patriot effect. The Patriot offense should be easy to stop. You focus on taking away the short stuff and don't worry about the deep ball. Brady is a dink and dunk king with receivers made for dink and dunk, pre Josh Gordon.Brady doesn't like to throw deep and when he does it isn't actually that good. It's clear to anyone who watches the Pats play, and the Jaguars actually did it once. They played that defense all the way up until the fourth quarter and they smothered that offense. But then time was running down and the defensive coordinator became afraid of the deep ball. They ran soft coverage and Brady proceeded to dink and dunk his way to multiple touchdowns sending him to his latest Super Bowl. The number of times Brady has dink and dunked his way to the endzone to end a half or end the game purely because teams revert to soft coverages is incredible. Teams know what defense they should run, but they're just so scared of that big name and big moment that they lose their composure.
I think the NFL offenses are adapting to a more flexible view on their skill players. The best offenses are composed of a plethora of role players. Not just stars anymore. These schemes are created to expose defenses to the talents the players have rather than just traditional football concepts. Granted, I think the NFL's defenses will adapt. Just like they did after getting slaughtered by the 46 in '85. DAAAA BEARS!
because none of those teams can even score. Bortles is nothing short of trash, the Ravens have a declining Joe Flacco, the Broncos and Bills don't have established quarterbacks (and everything on the bills is horrible anyways). None of the teams mentioned have decent offenses aside from maybe the Ravens.
If you watched what Alabama was doing the year he got hurt as a defense with scoring touchdowns this is nothing new to you. All of the idiot teams that needed a game breaking free safety that didn’t take him for a broken leg have to be mad as hell right now.
You should make a film about Kyle fuller. Definitely an underrated corner in the league, and maybe even one of the, if not the best corner tackler in the league right now

Looking back it's clear now that it was more Fangio and his system than it was Eddie Jackson being a DPOY type player. He's a really good player don't get me wrong but we've seen Justin Simmons become a top safety now and Staley helped getJohn Johnson paid and had a 7th rounder making plays
This channel is literally the greatest, and I don't think I've heard anyone else talk about a lesser known talents so often and it's awesome because these guys are amazing. Maybe in the offseason it would be interesting to look at new trends in the league. Trends like more passing, premier edge rushers and pass-catching running backs have become so huge but maybe it'd be a cool video to look into how interior pass rushers and run stoppers deserve more recognition and value. Aaron Donald is obviously making huge waves from the interior but as a whole this is a significant part of ruining an offenses gameplan. Even just looking at Cowboys v Saints yesterday and Brees was continually forced out of the pocket and it was a struggling day for the Saints offense. Shedding more light on the interior of the defensive line is huge. You've talked about Payne recently, then there is Cam Heyward, Kenny Clark, Damon Harrison, and Geno Atkins pressuring the middle of the pocket as a 3 technique. They might all have different roles and some are more pass rusher and others better against the run but it seems an undervalued position, maybe because apart from Donald it's not that 'sexy' of a position. Edge guys are great like Miller and Mack, but Atlanta couldn't stop the Saints on early downs because Kamara was able to gain 5 or 6 yards easily up the middle, however the Saints struggled when the Cowboys had a gameplan to disrupt the inside of the pocket. Though it does help when the cowboys have great defenders, unlike the severely injured Falcons D.

Overlord7 he is above average just not a ball hawk like Fuller or Jackson

It’s funny how unpredictable drafts could be, and in hindsight if in 2017 the Colts had drafted Eddie instead of Malik Hooker it would have been a better pick, just not right then and there. So as an NFL fan I’m done questioning any pick from Gm’s as questionable as they may seem
Sam Co Malik Hooker is a very solid safety and he been doing work so far in his career. He ain’t Eddie Jackson but he also don’t have Khalil Mack forcing passes.
I mean the jury is still out on Malik Hooker. He still has All-Pro potential.
suckafool123 but we can agree that Eddie Jackson is already an All-Pro
I'm a bears fan. Hooker was my favorite player coming out in 17. He has unique ability with the ball in the air and enormous hands. That injury he sustained his rookie year was nasty and set him back.
Some gm s are horrible.. Every Texans fan I know wanted Khalil Mack instead of Clowney..
Anyone else always agree with brett after watching the videos 😂😂
Brian Robinson no question that Amos is rangey I believe he ran a 4.37 40 at his pro day and spent most of his college career at cb at penn st.
Brian Robinson yea no it doesn’t freeze Rodgers 😂 Rodgers fears no defensive player
Von Grimes Team looks great this year man congrats on being a dumb fuck cheese head 👍🏻
And then Fangio left and literally everything fell apart. As you said, Retaining Vic Fangio was (or would've been) the biggest key.

In his second year playing he wins Defensive Player of the Month and is now in contention for DPOY? I'm happy being crazy.

Man what happened to Eddie😐watching these 2018 bears videos just make me sad
Bears have 20 ints and have allowed the fewest plays over 20 yds of any team thanks to Eddy, Kyle and Prince locking WR down
Nicholas Pergolizzi remember Adrian Amos too
McManus has stepped up as well
catcherboy96 He will play in Callahan’s spot now because of injury
Pressure on quarterback helps
Let's not forget the guys in the box, opposing QBs got like 4 seconds to do something or eat turf
JayeCrook29 has he even gotten injured as a bear all I’ve heard is he broke his leg his senior year at bama but that’s it
Antrell Rolle? Injury report? 🤭👎🏽
JayeCrook29 I hear u bro ... but Rolle was NEVER as explosive as Eddie ! Instinctually? I still don’t don’t see it ! Florida boys is about the only thing they have in common. Sorry

@@PlatypusVomit Yeah but hindsight is 20/20 and Eddie Jackson was looking like a bonfide stud but Fangio and he just hasn't been the same. Doesn't mean it wasn't a good breakdown since at the time everything he said was true.
Brett can u do tarik Cohen towards the end of the season so u coukd get more film on him
On the topic of the bears defense: im not sure this fits the format of your show but I’d be interested in your take on why there haven’t been many defense oriented teams this year that are doing well, when traditionally defense is considered to win championships.
I bet once winter football is over you will see a similar out come
Brian JOnker i think so as well, i feel like the bears or texans despite their weaknesses on offense might be the team to beat in the post season because of their defenses
You should do a video on the bears offense too.
If you watched what Alabama was doing the year he got hurt as a defense with scoring touchdowns this is nothing new to you. All of the idiot teams that needed a game breaking free safety that didn’t take him for a broken leg have to be mad as hell right now.
You did it again dude! your videos have me taking notes, pausing 😂😂you know your shit. Yes! Bears fans are loving Eddie he’s a beast!

Amazing video, I watched it before the Bears vs. Rams game. Jackson is the most dangerous safety in the NFL!
On December 16, 2018 Aaron Rogers, quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, future hall of famer, had the longest passing streak in NFL history without a interception at 402 passes. That record was broke that day by, none other than Sir Eddy Jackson of the Chicago Bears, intercepting. All Hail EDDY "money" JACKSON GO BEARS!!!! $#@

Get your jokes off but the only thing he’s guilty of is being dumb. This is the same girl he had a issue with in May and she used false domestic violence in her last relationship because she was being broken up with. Hopefully being around like 7 other former Alabama defensive players will help him with his decision making and he can ball in Washington like he did in San Francisco.
@@thedancinglobster I hope that's true because I don't want anyone to suffer from the consequences of their decisions. However, even if it is true, like you said, he's dumb. Bear Down ! what a steal grabbing this kid in the 4th rd after his leg injury at Bama
Looking back it's clear now that it was more Fangio and his system than it was Eddie Jackson being a DPOY type player. He's a really good player don't get me wrong but we've seen Justin Simmons become a top safety now and Staley helped getJohn Johnson paid and had a 7th rounder making plays
Once I saw the pick-6 on the last Lions-Bears game, I immediatly knew that you would made a video on the Bears D :)
Please do leighton vander esch film session
I'm not a cowboys fan by any means, but a video on their defense as a whole vs the saints would be cool
Please make a video on leighton vander esch!!

I really like Eddie Jackson (I also liked him college, he was underrated on Bama's squad), but he plays in the same division as Harrison Smith and he has been the most dominating in the NFL the past 3 years. People just keep disrespecting this man...
Cedric Doumassy nah he was the glue that kept that team together defensively playing and while injured showing minkah how to play the role he played making him a complete DB. Eddie has a nuisance approach to the game and you can tell in his understanding of coverages, spatial awareness, instincts, and coach like approach to playing his position he stays healthy he’ll be a hall of famer.
