    Hey man, I’m the Fenrir Guy! What you said is exactly correct, I made the deck as kind of an expression of how I enjoy playing card games rather than what would be the safe pick. I’m really not a part of vanguard social media at all and I actually think that really really helped.

    Reminds me of what happens in big tournaments jp final in Indonesia. At that time shiranui is the uncontested top dog of the meta, hence why literally half of the participants bring it. Top cut also is brutal. Literally 6 shiranui, a mygo and a morfonica.
    All saying shiranui gonna win it all. And then literally everyone in that room realize one single problem. Morfonica casually can make all rearguard resist. Whoops shiranui suddenly just crumble to the deck. Making the morfonica take the 1st.
    Its genuinely hilarious

    Yeah Man, The Hive-mind mentality is real. For Example, Everyone at my locals says “Gandeeva is now a Bad Deck because Stirgna is now only 1 copy!” and they all dropped the deck. In my case, I built my deck to be more aggressive in the early game and was taught by someone else how to shift the play style.
    If played right and if I have the cards in opening hand plus redraw….I can get closer to the Five Face down cards in the bind zone much faster then just wait till turn 3.
    When I top my locals one day, It will probably be with a Rogue deck contender.

    Many of my standard decks are consider not meta-relevant (I have 11 fully-built D decks and three-half decks that share triggers and PG with some of those 11 decks, hopefully that's not being considered an unhealthy number XD) , and that is fine by me, as a full-time traffic engineer who barely finished his Masters last december and has no time nor plan to attend BCS or regionals whatsoever, as long as I can have fun with my local friends and online discord remote fights, I consider that a huge win. Deck-building, game sense, decision-making and actual execution matters a lot who comes to a fight, some of my friends tried Gandeeva bandwagon, yet unable to pilot it to its full potential, my Feltyrosa (which does have a high ceiling despite her inconsistencies) taught him a brutal lesson.
    Thank you for this video! Many players have ignored, or have forgotten the "fun" factor of playing the game, the fun does not have to be rooted from winning or at the expense of other player's suffering, sometimes executing a RNG full combo, or successfully does a meme-worthy play, or recreating anime-fights, are just as exciting.

    I wish vanguard RUclipsrs would focus on some fundamental principles of the game as opposed to deck builds. Like for example I had no idea about the concept of speeding up or slowing down the game. I saw this used against me at locals and after I lost I stopped the guy to ask how he played around my match up. I was playing Drajewl grade 4 and he was playing a non rush lianorn. He basically explained he was focusing on the rearguards to drain my hand and make my first grade 4 turn as weak as possible. Which I didn’t even realize there was another layer to this game beside guarding.

    • @mrbubbles6468
      @mrbubbles6468 Месяц назад

      To be fair that is still guarding. He’s wasting your tears so you have to refill so you have left stuff to use on your turn or guard with.

    Hive mind culture in TCG’s can get very overwhelming, OPTCG is the best example of this in current times.
    For VG’s case, worlds was so fun to watch this year due to the diversity displayed at the event. It also encourages players to maybe try different decks or tweak their builds.

    Yea I do feel like a lot of vanguard players don’t experiment enough with builds. A problem is not enough English big/recorded tournaments that you can skip months of competitive play and just come back and pick what Japan played with the sets outs and think it’s good enough

    I’ve been on my own personal train when it comes to Vanguard. I own zero meta decks, and play at my local shop tournaments with decks that I like rather than waste time and money with the meta. I never cared for what was meta, my entire thought process on what deck I wanna build is literally “This card looks fun, maybe I’ll build it”. That was the case with Alden, Thegrea, Kheios (still in the works), and Dragontree. Yes, I bring Dragontree to my local tournaments. The only deck that I have that was meta is Nordlinger, but I don’t play the Dark Night version, I play Masque version cuz it’s funny. And these decks have almost gotten me into top 4 (5th is the closest I’ve gotten with Alden and Nordlinger). I just need to see my pieces and get luckier with my trigger checks, and I know I can hit top 4 with my non meta buddies.

    as someone who likes multi-attacks from vg i was a huge fan of Youthberk and once the brain rot took hold people started calling me a meta sheep despite that being the only deck i used since its released. now i like Varga and i know itll be the same but im definitely using cards i like more like Burnaia and actually using Blazembar because they look cool

    i believe diversity plays a major part in how healthy a game is. if your only seeing 2 or 3 decks top tournaments thats not a good sign. either the game is in a stall spot or things are just under supported.

      I love both doing and watching those videos, I 100% think they're valid content and needed. I obviously loved doing the BCS coverage with you as well :). Additionally, it can give you insight into what a group that content creator belongs to may value.
      What I don't always care for are dismissive comments that sometimes come along with that analysis (not saying you do obv). We shouldn't be so quick to dismiss a unique list, or harshly judge a card. We might be leaving valuable techs/ lines of play off the table if we have that mindset!

  • @deltaed3517
    @deltaed3517 8 месяцев назад

    Honestly, I don’t subscribe to the diverse format is bad mentality but…… you don’t want to build a deck up from scratch, just use a previous format top deck and they have a fair chance of topping a locals or just use the latest sets decks
    But then is also hella entertaining when some guy brings in a “random” deck and claps the entire tournament and at the end of the tourney I go “what the hell just happened to me”
    Then I try to do the same with my favorite clan and fail miserably lol, then cycle repeats

  • @2254narken2254

    In regards to the diversity of the meta it really comes down from what you’re trying to get from the game.
    If I’m testing for an event and I want to do well, I want there to be a few good decks so I can test and prepare for those matchups.
    If I’m trying to have fun with the game and not caring about how well I do, I want the format to be as diverse as possible so I can do well with my pet decks, but when a meta is diverse it’s impossible (or at least very very difficult) to be well prepared for every matchup making it more likely to get blown out by a matchup you haven’t tested for

  • @vanguardpotential3153

    As a premium PBO player, i agree that the hive mind mentality is just plane annoying and this perfectly explains it. People would always say that luard is better cause they can use morfessa, tho i dont think that morfessa is even the best stride of the clan anymore, just luard and maybe q fww other decks.

    The mind set that only a few clans should be good is very selfish and stupid. The appeal of vanguard is the verity and specific niches. If only a set few get to play that isn't fair and that isn't fun. Sure you can spend 20-50 hours studying those few match ups but what about the casuals who just go to locals, their time is valuable too. Diverse metas are always good for the player
