I must say I’ve been painting cars for a while. You just turned a spray can job into a professional job adding a 2K clear looks amazing. Always use that clear. It looks fantastic. Looks like a professional job outstanding.
Yea sand her down with 2000 grit real nice and then throw on a few more coats of smr1150 and it will keep looking nicer and nicer the more coats of clear you do
@@garyny4073 I've herd of some shops flow coating a car 2-4 times until it's close to perfect. 3-4 coats and blocksand, another 3-4 coats block sand again ect ect
You do great work and I appreciate you posting your progress. Thanks to you I resprayed my hood for my 06 Toyota Solara and used the 2K clear over it. It needs another wet sand and buff but all my friends and family say it looks professional. I'm not so sure about that (lol), but not bad for in my carport out of direct sunlight. I hope it holds up over time. Keep spraying brother!
Just superb work! Absolutely beautiful! I was waiting on this one. The Rustoleum by itself looks amazing but adding clear just took it up to another level. Be blessed my friend.
Just found you. Working through some of your videos. I'm really impressed that you are giving people a legitimate alternative to $5000.00 paint jobs. I have been thinking about this myself for quite a while. Paint is paint. If you can spray it on, and you have decent technique, you can get some very impressive results. Obviously a $12.00 can of paint will probably fade or chalk up in a couple of years, but I think you solved this by top coating with the 2K clear. Other than your time, you probably have $100.00 to $150.00 invested in your paint job, and the results speak for themselves. Your car looks great! Good enough for 95% of people! Would love some follow up to see how it holds up in a couple of years. Great job and keep posting!
Awesome video!! I found this while searching about rattle-can clear coats for a very small table surface and here I stumble across you painting an entire car! Amazing and a very well done video. Great color on that Honda too BTW.
That's a really good job for rattle can. I paint cars professionally and started out with the spray cans back in the day. A lot of work for sure, but keep at it there are a lot of tricks to knock down the labor and time for the same finish. I like to say I work hard till I get smart ;)
Awesome!! I love grabber green! I have done so many vehicles that color and with a 2K clear over the top it would be even better! I pray it all works out in your favor! God bless you!
Looks great. Every time I'm about to spray paint anything, I first shake the paint using my 'Paint Shaker 3000' & I remember where I learned to make it!
Thanks for posting this video. It answered a question i had about putting 2k clear on rustoleum enamel paint. Im actually currently doing a rustoleum turbo can paint job flat black. Im going to put Speedokote 2k clear SMR-1150 on top with pearl in it. This makes me more confident with my decision to go this route. Lets hope for some great results! 😁😁
Amazing Job Brother. God has Blessed you with cool talent i have been painting cars for 15 years and that paint job is killer. God Bless and keep up the good work.
iv been painting with spray cans for 24 years, they can make a amazing end result if you know what to do and get lucky with the chemical reactions, some times paint just reacts bad to the base coat or even on its own coats that are half dried..
Yea I have heard they haven’t been good to y’all there on spray paint prices. I’ll be doing my brothers integra soon as well. Maybe that will get you motivated. Either way hope you find a way to get the paint cheaper.
I did this method too, i recommend waiting few days after clear to wet sand it. Also primer before you use regular 2x paint and make sure the car is really really prepped even in the hard to reach places.
Same exact thing I did waaaayyyy back when I started following you, 5k subs I think. I just used Sikkens clear in a cheap harbor freight gun. Still on the car all these years later.
That’s awesome! I wish I could use my gun but neighbors love to call me in and they didn’t hear the spray cans lol the compressor is a different story all together lol that bad boy wakes the dead
Looks awesome! I'm about to do the same process on my Prius, which has been spraypainted a few different colors. I'd LOVE to see you do a full car with the Colorshift, mostly because I'm very curious how many cans it would take!
That would be very expensive but would be awesome if it worked out well because i have seen it done panel by panel and looks amazing but it takes like 2-3 cans per panel depending on size. You need black base coat, then the color shirt a few coats at least then the 2K clear over it.
I still think you should buy some chopped carbon and try your hand at skinning the stock hood. It'd probably be the very first ep3 with a forged carbon hood and would make for some great content to draw in more subs and views. Maybe even cut some vents in it as well
You really need to open up a shop. You can help a lot of people out that don’t have a lot of money to spend on a good quality paint job your paint jobs come out Awesome and very professional looking keep it up brother we appreciate it. Great Contant.😎👍
Probably hard to do this as a shop as the paint will fade within a couple of years (assuming it's garaged and looked after, it will fade much quicker if exposed to sun) and it still takes enough man hours to do all the prep work that it'd not be cheap to pay for. It's more of a fun/cheap alternative if you have spare time and enjoy doing this kind of thing :) All that said, while it's fresh it looks very fresh.
I did use a sanding block a lot in the video but hard to see in some of them. It’s a foam sanding block and it didn’t work as good as hand sanding and wasn’t wavy. I definitely block sand when doing bondo or flattening. I have used it both ways but prefer doing it by hand on curve surfaces but the roof ended up getting block for the final pass. Didn’t wanna make it too boring so I just speed most of it up. I could have made it far more detailed but I’ll answer as many questions as I can to make up for it.
Looks really great man, amazing job.I was also a dick in a previous comment in another one of your videos so i want to sincerely apolgize for that. Car looks awesome. Keep up the great work brother!!
Nice Job ! The idea with the Carbon Hood could be good contant to lay some carbonfiber with epoxyresin to have a "carbon look" hood for cheap . Keep it up

I didn’t cut and buff it in previous video I just buffed it and in this video I wet sanded and added another color coat then let it dry then wet sanded it again and added clear. I make sure to wipe the car down with wax and grease remover or rubbing alcohol to get rid of any wax from buffing. Hope that helps
I've watched alot of the vids man love it, but I believe this to be the only one where u explain letting the paint aka bade coat cure a few days then wet sand 1k lightly then apply 2k clear. All the other vids I've seen you just directly add 2k on top after base no waiting? Is this somthing new you've learned to be a better overall outcome? And when your done wet sanding do u use wax grease remover or just wipe down with dry rag?
Nice! Enamel and other oil based painted were used in the 50s and 60's...doesn't last as long in the sun. Urethane based products, ie. that 2K clear will last a lot longer and is what modern cards are painted with.
For the matter of your health and safety PLEASE put on a painter's suit...your skin sucks in more than you think. It's how our Gas Handlers in the military die from skin contact with fuels. Your health is fore sure worth way more than $100-$200. God Bless! (
Agreed. Its not just about a mask. Even your eyes will absorb the fumes. Plus on the flip side a nice clean suit will help the nibs and dirt from getting on the finish. Just something about clear coat it likes to pull the dirt.
You did an amazing job! God Bless you! Your body work and painting through all the stages can be a spiritual meditation. Sometimes God in making us perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect depending on how many bad life habits we have formed through sin needs to take us through various stages of disposition. He breaks our pride and sinful tendencies in order to give us a new foundation.(derusting tools, hammers, air needles, cutting out rust, hammer forming new panels, butt welding, grinding, fiber glass bidy fill, seam sealer, regular bondo) That is the most painful part of the process as we have to learn to trust the process, humble ourselves and let go of the old and accept the new. Then He can start on the refinement of virtue. (Sanding body fill, filling in pinholes, taping, primer, sanding, base coat, sanding, clearcoat, buffing and polishing)! And if you put in the time and good will or dispositions just as the car comes out stunning so we will come out of the process shining like the stars of heaven and become a light on a mountain for all to benefit! Excellent work!
I think Rust-Oleum is the best paint ever. After spending hours of frustration with Duplicolor paint on my black truck, I gave up. The 8 Oz. cans are too small, way over-priced and inefficient. You paint a few feet and the can is empty. You have to get another can, shake it and continue. Further, the Duplicolor spray pattern is weak and uneven. After playing around with it for a while, I saw a can of Rust-Oleum black paint on my friend's porch and decide to give it a try on my truck roof. It worked great. I'll never buy Duplicolor again if I can find the color of my future trucks in Rust-Oleum. The only benefit of using Duplicolor is that they can match the color of your car using the manufacturer's paint code. I'll see how 2K Clear Coat comes out on Rust-Oleum. I took a chance on Rust-Oleum because I had to paint some old door hinges and they didn't look good using regular paint with a brush or roller. I then used a can of Rust-Oleum paint I had around. They came out smooth and beautiful. I think the key is getting the right version of Rust-Oleum and shaking the can for 2 minutes. I think most people shake it for 30 seconds, get tired and convince themselves they have been shaking it for 2 full minutes. I found a way on RUclips to shake them by attaching the can to a sawzall blade using 2 hose clamps. Works great!
