The Epiphone EB3 bass guitar uses the classic SG shaped body with double cutaway horns to create an awesome looking bass guitar. But it doesn't end there ... the EB3 produces great tone through its Sidewinder and mini humbucker pick-ups.
This bass features a long scale neck so it may be worth trying this model first to ensure that you are comfortable with the longer neck. The materials used on the EB3 are of a high quality and use Mahogany for the neck as well as the body, helping this bass to produce a deep, rich tone with masses of sustain.
The EB3 includes a Sidewinder pickup at the neck position managed by individual volume and tone controls, and a mini humbucker at the bridge position also featuring individual volume and tone controls. The pickups are selected using a 3 way selector switch configured to use each pickup individually or both pickups together.
Di'd straight into the recorder for a nice clean sound.

Youre a good demoer because you actually try it with a pick too (and also play different genres and for more than just like a minute...). I'm a pick player and i find myself frequently frustrated that most bass demo players on YT play with fingers. I mean its fine to play with fingers obviously if that's your preference but i want to know what it sounds like with a pick too!

Really glad you started out with a 360 rotation of the guitar - you'd be surprised how hard it is to find a good image/video showing the top of most basses.

Plugging the bass straight into a Di into the recorder gives a better idea of the actual sound of the bass and the pickups for RUclips I feel.

The neck is long scale. If you don't want neck dive, best to get an Epiphone EBO which is short scale. It's cheaper than the EB3, and balances OK and sounds good. I've got one.

man I don't know why more bass manufacturers don't put pups at the neck on basses! I'd take that delicious warm neck bassy tone over a by the bridge jaco honk an day. And I love fender basses

I agree with you & I did go and buy one. Epiphone does have one major bridge flaw though, The felt string bindings rest on the bridge saddles and can throw off your intonation and mute the string to a certain degree. Strings with no felt bindings are often round wound too high and also can rest on the saddles causing the same problems. I have installed mini washers behind the bridge & ran each string through the eye holes to draw the string back and this seems to work well. Just one idea.

Great bass and excellent playing! I have Epiphone EB-3 1960 Custom Shop Short Scale Black Bass. It sounds and plays great. As it's a short scale one no neck diving at all.

As a frustrated left handed bass player, I have to say I'm very interested in the Epiphone EB3-0 bass that you demonstrated in this video. It's unfortunate Epiphone did not make this particular model available to left handed bass players. It seems the lefties continually get punished for being left handed by guitar companies. I hate the thought of playing this bass upsidedown, just to have the pleasure of playing it. Thanx for posting this vid, it was very helpful for me to really hear it.

very strange... in this video this bass sounds waaaaaaay better than on any other video. Based on this video I'd buy it - hearing it in all the other videos I'd stay away from it.
Sooo, what should I do? :)

A NICE bass, but WATCH the neck, it does have some weakness and could be prone to some twist due to uneven string tension!

this bass is pretty much left hand friendly. Tho body is simetrical so it looks same turned left or right. Strap button is on the back of the guitar, where neck joins body, so it's can be turned upside down. Yeah the controls will be on the upper side, but if I was lefty, i'd just play this one upside down :)

I have a Precision U.S.A. - good sound with Ashdown ABM - but I like have also an SG bass, and I'm undecided whether to buy an Epiphone like this or a Gibson. The price of the Epiphone is truly exceptional, but a Gibson in any case worthwhile?
