    Hands down the best demo of this style of instrument. So many people write off the Gibson original as a one-sound dinosaur, and dismiss the Epiphone as a cheap copy. This video shows that it doesn't have to be like that if you know how to use EQ and compression.

      Well said man!Props to Jayme for sure.You can’t compare this bass to anything because it’s in own class.Other than a Gibson EBO there isn’t thing like it. It’s practically the same design as it’s inception.People need to just realize that it’s kinda like time travel when you play and hear this bass.Jayme made this classic design sound as “modern”as it’s gonna get.

    I had written this bass off because I was not able to find any decent demos of it anywhere on RUclips. This demo is awesome and really shows that the bass can shine. Not a super versatile instrument but in the right genre and with the right EQ, it sounds amazing. Excellent, Jayme!

    Let me tell you what, I purchased the Epiphone EB3 bass along with the Epiphone SG standard guitar 3 weeks ago and I am happier than a pig in a mud hole. I've been setting up the EB 3 as I've been playing it. 1st thing was pulling the nut off and shaving close to a 1/8 inch off the bottom and slamming the action down. After adjusting the bridge and tuning the intonation in I adjusted the pickup height . This bass guitar is a FUCKING BEAST. I did the same thing with the SG standard guitar and I couldn't be happier with either one. I've been playing Guitars since 1969ish and I've had some really amazing Gibsons and Epiphones thru the years, my 1964 Gibson Ripper frettless was one of my favorites and even to this day my 1962 Hagstrom bass that is outfitted with Dimazio J pickups ( and that took some modifications) because of neck width and sizeing. The Hagstrom sounds like you are listening to Chris Squire and his Rickenbacker. ANYWAY I'M BLABBING, this EPIPHONE EB3 is down right AWESOME and takes you back to Cream and the other legendary 3 piece power blues players of our youth or at least .mine. I'M DONE (at least for now )

    4:08 is a tasteful example of how you use a compression pedal to get more versatility out of the instrument... Shows us how to get the most with what we have, rather than having to spend more money on a more modern sounding kind of bass. Jayme is a great teacher not just at musical, but also at gear level.

    One of the best reviews for a deep bass I've seen in a while. Most people will just ruin it's sig sound with clankyness, but you have the best of both worlds. I love muddy bass tones, and this review makes me want a set of mud buckers; keep up the good work!

    The neck pickup from the factory is a ceramic so it’s on the weak side. Swap that out with an Artec 30k alnico and it’s day and night. The replacement is a wall of bass.

    Sounds like a bass guitar, rather than a bass. One to add to your arsenal if you already have a Fender Jazz or Precision.

    My biggest question is if it's comfortable to play. So far the most comfortable bass I've played is the fender p bass. Then probably the thunderbird aside from the neck dive. I've been getting more picky with comfort lately.

    • @Cloudwalker2011
      @Cloudwalker2011 2 года назад +1

      A wide strap would curb some of that neck dive. EB3 necks are narrow and pretty fast. The major qualm most people have with these basses is the sound is so limited and niche.

    With processing and a professional bassist this bass is passable. The word is passable. I'd be willing to bet he'd never pick this bass up for anything but a demo. What will this bass sound like when you get it.. If mud had a sound this bass would represent it.

    The neck dive is terrible. That is the worse part of it. Ya end up fighting the bass. Sounds ok though. But it is a bit of a pain in the ass.

    ☑️ Great! Theres a link to where the song is tabbed out and transcribed. I'm gonna go there and start playing that song IMMEDIATELY after I learn to play bass! I'll start learning to play my bass, as soon as I actually get one! Then I'll be set to play that song, the moment I learn to read music.... Yep, I've never been closer to playing that song than I am right now! 😁
    Seriously though, nice skill! I like to think of myself as a "drummer", but I'd also like to pick up a cheap bass guitar and start learning some bass fundamentals and tricks, so that I'll also learn how best to play drums in a way that compliments and accentuates the bass, and improves the overall sound of the rhythm section.
    I don't wanna spend a ton of money, but I'd like something that sounds relatively good(for hard rock and 80s metal mostly), but first and foremost is easy to play, with a good action.

    Of course I get it’s all about “what does it sound like?” But equally important about how this (or any) bass sounds is demonstrating the other sounds it makes with the other pups, each individually and together. A complete review about how this particular bass sounds would also include at least a mention if not a demo of the different tonal changes by turning the rotary selector switch. I also have heard that the Epi EBs have neck dive because they’re not as balanced as a Gibson.
    Sorry Dude, I’m disappointed and I feel your review is not comprehensive enough to give me a good idea of “what does it sound like”.
