It would seem that MatPat has come full circle. His first passion was the theater, he's made a career off nerding out over video games, movies/TV shows, branched out into educating the internet about food and fashion, and now he's making his mark right where he originally wanted to leave his mark: in the theater. (Obviously it's not the same mark that he intended in the beginning, but the sentiment is still there and my point still stands!)

The saddest realization that hit me is that eventually all records off this work of art will be wrapped up, and I wont be able to witness it because I am all the way in Texas. I can't really ask my parents to travel across the country to watch a show once. I really really hope there is a way to see it online, even if it's paid.

I know I am a little late.. but this video genuinely made me tear up. Just how passionate you were about theater and it all coming full circle from kindergarten to on stage at broadway made me so happy
genuinely such a cool thing that’s happening right now, its really cool to see more attention coming to musicals and broadway and more online presence of it. as excited as i am i hope that the writers and actors unions continue and are able to pick this back up after their strike

Just saw the final Wednesday matinee of the show before it closes. Absolutely blown away, so much to think about, theorize about. What a beautiful show
It is really devastating as someone who loves theatre but simply can't afford to go up to New York and watch the shows to know that yet another show I was dying to see is gonna be gone forever way before I'll be able to afford to see it. I wish that there was a way to see those pro shots online.
I’m with you, I’ve missed so many that I just wanted to see. Ultimately, I console myself with the thought that hopefully someone has the preserved tapes of the the play and one day they may release it.

Saw grey house a few months ago on Broadway. Instantly became one of my favorite plays I’ve ever seen. I went the next day and got rush tickets just to see it again

I have done theater for almost all of my life and, to see MatPat help produce something that's so intriguing and near to my heart is honestly mind-blowing. This is SO interesting and I'm really excited to see how it plays out!!

I really hope there's going to be a (legal) way for people to watch this in the future. It's impossible for a lot of us international fans to ever see shows on broadway, but we still love theatre and we want to see shows! And you can bet we're ready to spend money to be able to watch them legally online!!

I’m sorry but it seems you’ve been infected with the bot curse. Allow me to cure you.
I was wondering where things were going around the halfway mark, but just a bit further then that all of the pieces set up clicked into place and it made a LOT more sense. So, I'm glad that Matt took the time to actually lay the groundwork there, because establishing the depth of the expertise of both himself, and the producer he was working with, helped give everything going forward more context and helped the entire setup fall into place. Having only ever been a tangential participant in theater, and not having much interest beyond schooling... Didn't know any of this information going in, and it's fascinating how easy it is to hide a LOT of information just by locking down the accessibility to only relevant, limited individuals. Glad I stuck it out!
Also I actually didn't mind mat just telling story's of his live instead if theorizing.

It was so great and I even thought “this seems like something MatPat would cover.” This video didn’t come up on my fyp for whatever reason but your video on Disney’s failures did and I saw in the video you were mentioning it not doing so great. I was fortunate enough to see Grey House on Broadway and the fact that Mat produced it flew so under my radar that I was SHOCKED when I saw his name in the playbill. It was definitely one of the most interesting shows I’ve seen on Broadway and there needs to be more like it. All of the cast were terrific and the production value was very impressive, it left me with a lot of questions but I think that’s one of the best things about it because now I want to read the play more and study to see how much deeper I can interpret it. As someone who also spent a significant portion of his life studying the art of acting and performing and drama I’m very proud that Mat got do this and experience this. Congratulations 🎉

The production values and cast performances were definitely impressive, and after seeing it I'mextremely curious to read the play and explore it in greater detail. Performance art in theater can be tricky to replicate, so congrats on landing such an ingenious and exciting production!

I love how your always plus current passions collided and you were able to bring the masses to Broadway. I actually cried. Because having been that kid my whole life whose dream this was, even if it's just a parasocial relationship we share, I relate to you so damned much. And having been able to get on a stage for the first time in thirteen years this month, i'm so happy to see others getting to realize those drams and goals. Also, theatre has desperately needed a way to connect with the outside world for so long. So thank you for trying to break down those doors.

I love how even though he was incredibly fast with the sign language the translater kept up like a boss, matpat's introduction on stage was glorious, and from the roar of the crowd i know it was and epic night.

SAME. I'm disabled and not super mobile so being able to watch plays online would be a massive boon.
I really do think it is a shame that all these recordings get locked away never to be seen again. The world really is changing and is a huge connected place now with things like the internet. Even if we accept that not everyone will want to see a Broadway shoe there are still hundreds of millions of people world wide that love theatre that love the arts but that can't make it to NY for a show that runs for 2 weeks. It becomes such a limiting way of creating and viewing the world as it now it.
I was lucky enough to see wicked in NY many years ago and it will always be one of my most treasured memories. When a different cast version came to my country, you know what, I went again. And if I could watch the original Broadway show on the internet I would, I would introduce my son to it. And then if the show ever came back I would take him to see it live. I think there is some fear from theatre that if it's free to the "unwashed masses" it will take something away, people won't care about seeing the big production they'll just watch at home on their couch. It will lose that intimacy that shared experience that you even talked about with Gray house with people talking in the street outside.
But what would it look like if instead of that fear, they opened up their world just a little bit.
People that never had a chance to see a show could share some of that experience, maybe theatre kids might not be seen as the weird ones but the lucky ones, we could have more culture understanding more growth and learning.
And I guarantee it wouldn't stop people going to see the shows, because there is something special about being there with the cast performing for you, because they are they are there performing for you the live audience.
Which is something film and recording don't have you are just a bystander a viewer peeking in, when you are in the audience you are part of the show.
That was probably to long and not interesting to people but, just thought it was interesting how Mat talked about their initial reactions to the internet stuff.
Great job Mat and maybe one day the show will come feasibly close lol and I can go see it
I fully agree. As someone who wasn’t even born or only 5 years old when some shows were performed I would die to see now, l will never be able to.
Hamilton basically proves this, it was released on Disney+ (at least in the UK) and people are still going to see it live

Matt, this is so amazing. As someone who has been doing theater all their life as well (but is also chronically online) this is so incredible to me. performing means more than anything to me, and I have been worried that, should I truly pursue it, I would have to miss out on a whole other world. You and Steph are helping me and others realize that it doesn't have to be like that. Thank you, Matpat.

I’m glad more stories are including deaf characters and the Deaf community. I took ASL for two years in high school and had my Associates in Art focus on ASL, so I know how underrated both the Deaf people and Deaf community are. It’s a culture I love to learn about and interact with, and I’m so happy these communities are getting the attention and awareness they deserve.

I know you may not notice me matpat, but there's some sort of ARG going around youtube shorts, famous shorts creators videos have been glitching, showing random QR codes, and they each had unexpected collabs. Not only that, there's this vpn that I think is part of the lore, it's called CloneVPN.
I missed this video and had no idea about this. I'm so bummed that I missed it! It sounds amazing!

I was there at the show, the talkback, and afterwards meeting everyone and it was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. Steph and Mat were just so amazing and kind. Being able to meet your heroes rarely happens, but they made it happen for us. Also, to see myself in that talkback, to hear my voice and see my face is insane.
when you live in new york you kinda do meet your heros if you keep yourself updated with them or you go out alot , haha celerbs on every corner in soho or broadway

Why do horror theories always come around when i'm about to go to bed? And why do i still watch them.
Somehow, I missed this when it first dropped... I literally walked past the posters for this when I was in Broadway earlier this year, thought it looked neat, and then filed it away in the back of my brain to check out later. Of course, life happened, and I missed it... thanks for taking a swing on the choice of topic, team! Definitely filled in some gaps.
i watched six the musical on youtube and it did have the phrase 'slime tutorial' in the title, i thought this was a special thing where they would just make slime in the middle of performance ( dont ask me why lol ) when it ended i thought it was just to be silly never knew the actual reason till now. its one of the things i like about your channels, i can learn random peices of information whether it be useful of not, its fun to know!
A murder/mystery broadway? Sounds like a blast. I'm actually really happy for you getting to do this, Mat and Stephanie. Broadway is a gem, and helping it be more relevantm today is a great idea. I hope those producers can now take what they've learned from you as they move forward.
Well done MatPat! As a fellow (former) theatre kid this is a wonderfully touching story. Now, let's hope that it opens the doors to more stage cinematic recordings through official channels. It's nearly impossible to see a Broadway-level production from all the way down here in Australia. An outlet to see these shows legally and able to support the creative teams would be amazing!

Thanks a lot Mat and Steph for making an actual difference in this world. I can't express enough how much I am grateful for what you decide to do with the influence you have. These days it's difficult to know who is being genuine and actually looks out for other people, it is scary how good people are at faking, lying and manipulating other, but I truly appreciate that you have given everyone the trust to know that you want a better world for everyone, whether it be by making silly theories on the internet or by marking the begining of change to better humanity as a whole with the charity streams and this kind of videos that show that you are here an you are going to use your influence for the betterment of everything and everyone. I might be overreacting a little bit because I have just started my own theatre journey but I truly truly love everything that you both stand for, thanks for the 6 years of theorizing that you have gifted me and for the 10+ years that you have dedicated to it.
