I own two Rotary watches in my collection. Both are dress watches and look really classy and wear well on the wrist. They are great value for money watches imo .I have been looking lately at some of their dive watches and may get one at some point. My two watches are swiss made.
Oh! Very cool! Hopefully their divers are brilliant also!
I just picked up a Rotary military/pilot watch , I'm impressed with the finishing and quality feel
Oh! Cool. Congratulations!
I learned about their history, thank you
Absolutely! 🍸🍸
I've just bought my first rotary skeleton watch, and now I've got my eye on my 2nd rotary skeleton watch in rose gold. I find rotary is based for a more mature audience, and I personally highly rate rotary for the money, so thanks for the history lesson 👍
@@renegade-master29 Oh cool! Congratulations! 🍸🍸
Nice - yes I was watching a times ticking video on this brand. It’s very omnipresent in the UK and I hadn’t realised it had a long history. Definitely a missing one from my British watches vid!
Yeah that totally caught me off guard.
As an owner of 7 Rotary watches I suggest exploring Rotary"s Swiss made range called Les Originales. They're awesome.
Oh! Thank you for that suggestion!
@@KillingTimeWithNorman you're very welcome
Even though I'm a Londoner, I've only just become aware of Rotary and I'm extremely tempted by their moon phase watches but I'm a bit wary because they seem suspiciously cheap. I agree with you that their policy of refusing to name the movement doesn't auger well. If it was a quality movement you'd think they'd want to boast about it. They seem to use quality materials and maintain a high level of quality control. I have no problem with movements from the Far East - at these prices it's inevitable - as long as they're reliable.
Yeah. If you do go for one, let me know what you think! 🍸🍸
@@KillingTimeWithNorman It was a toss up between the Rotary or the Zeppelin and I think I'm going for the airship. I like the blue face and the retro steam punk vibe. It's over double the price but it comes with a Ronda quartz movement and everyone praises the Teutonic attention to detail. I'd prefer the month dial but the numbered weeks of the year is quite cool.
I'm getting quite philosophical, measuring my final years on earth, before my final mission into the great void.
Rotary making some great watches again. I have the super7 and a henley, both automatic. Great video sir.
Nice! Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed it!
Been loving my Rotary ... ❤
Oh sweet! I hear good things about the brand. I'll definitely have to get one at some point. 🍸🍸
Rotary has some really cool vintage divers. If they ever reissue their Aquaplunge, I'll probably buy one.
I haven't even looked at their divers!
I'll have to for sure. Oh! If you get one, pics for sure!
I own a Rotary Windsor Moon phase... okay it's made in China and a quartz too but it is the prettiest watch in my collection the balance of the 4 inner complications is simply gorgeous!
Oh! I'll have to look those up! Congrats on that piece!
I just discovered they make a quartz 37mm field watch called Commando. It comes in black(standard), white (nice) and cream (not so nice!) dial versions on leather nato or steel bracelet. I also just noticed that limited edition pilots watch, the last one in your vid, looks amazing.
Oh! And thank you!! 🍸🍸
I have the Heritage in Rose gold and Classic Silver. I also have a couple of the Cambridge tanks too. They are amazing value watches. Unique and classy.
Ooo! I am so glad yo hear that! I'll def have to check one out!
@@KillingTimeWithNorman They pop up on eBay (UK) brand new or second hand. You’ll get them cheaper than the US $ you mention in the video too.
@@the_9ent Oh! Great, I'll create a search :)
Is the rotary watches reliable I was thinking on it to be my next watch
@@teddytrippe8723 In the years I’ve been buying them I’ve found Rotary to be a very good and reliable brand.
I’ve got a couple of old Rotary’s from the 1960’s, one c.1965, another an automatic with a calendar, good watches that keep good time, and inexpensive here in London, I had been to Clerkenwell, yet to pay them a visit - Jack - London UK 🇬🇧.
Oh yeah! I keep my eyes open for Rotary! I almost went for one of their reversible tanks, but had to resist spending money at the time :)
@@KillingTimeWithNorman I’m no expert on Rotary watches, think mine weren’t top of the range, had seen some rare 1950’s or 1960’s online, if the price was right, if I can afford it, might buy more.
I've had a couple of Rotary's their quartz movements are generally from Miyota or Seiko, on the other hand I wouldn't trust their automatic movement choice unless they specify it.
The automatic movement in the third field watch is a Miyota 821A. 8:10
Oh! Thank you for that!
Nicely done bud 👍 awesome pieces.
Thanks mang! 🍸🍸
I have my father old rotary watch case number 257672 with the original invoice purchased in 1945 in South Africa when he was serving in the Royal Navy could you give me any information
Thanks Keith
I just bought a Rotary Avenger with champagne dial. Very classy vintage look and looks expensive. I also like Sekonda, Lorus and Accurist.....
Oh! Congratulations! Nice. I'll have to give those other brands a closer look. Thank you! 🍸🍸
The problem i have with Rotary is that they cut corners by using cheap no name Chinese quartz movements. Using a Seiko VK63 Mechaquartz movement would make them more rugged and reliable, and the second hand would move more like a high beat mechanical movement. Charge £10 more for the watch with a VK63, and a lot more watch nerds would buy them. If Pagani can sell beautiful VK63 watches for £50- £80, then Rotary should be able to do the same for £100 - £200.
Great point! 🍸🍸
Rotary make nice watches that would benefit from better movements.
Indeed!
They use Miyota movements in there automatic and quartz watches i believe..
Oh! Thank you for that info! 🍸🍸
The Cambridge Gents is powered by a Miyota quartz movement 👍🏽
Oh! Thank you for that info! 🍸🍸
Im only here because I just bought a Rotary watch
Oh! Congrats - And welcome!!
I came across these, and they look beautiful, but why oh why are these pieces not available..there is a small seconds rose gold I'm looking at ..
Yeah :( So sad.
Rotary is a common brand in the UK. Many of their cheaper models are made in the Far East.
Ok. Yeah, I learned that they are well regarded in the UK. Very cool. Good to know, thank you!
@@KillingTimeWithNorman I see Rotary as the "British" equivalent to Bullova. Both have similar backstories, now both are made in china ,(but their build quality is decent for the money) and future workhorse miyota movements. They are also both owned by large companies (Beijing group for Rotary and Seiko for Bullova) and also have similar designs as well.
And have some higher end pieces that are swiss made (Rotary ones are branded as Rotary les originales , and they also have another brand called Dreyfuss). Their swiss made watches are on par with entry level Tissots on quality. (With their top of the line most expensive Dreyfuss with Valjoux movement, rivaling Logniness)
@@apothecy4011 Dang! Thank you so much for the info! I hadn't made that connection -- and didn't realize the Rotary/Dreyfuss link. 🍸🍸
@@KillingTimeWithNorman you are welcome. also, another thing about rotary is that you can find their pieces at much lower prices than their list price in places like e bay. I got a (new) Swiss rotary for like $100 from there. That was an extremely good deal, but they go for generally lower prices than what they are saying in their website.
@@apothecy4011 Ooooo! Good to know.
Rotary make some very good watches, of which only a few are made in Switzerland, featuring 'Swiss Made' on the bottom of the dial at 6 O'clock. However, in the case of Cambridge Rotary ( 5:34 ), on the back you should see 'Made in PRC', ie. People's Republic of China. On other Rotary watches not made in Switzerland, the bottom of the dial shows "British Design", but in fact they are made in - PRC. I think it's dishonest of Rotary. That said, they do make some very lovely watches, for example their black-dialled Henley GMT. Exactly _where_ their Henley-design watches are made, nobody knows because of the back, nothing is stated - and many of Rotary's watches don't state 'PRC' on the stainless-steel back. Please be aware then, that the majority of Rotary timepieces actually are made in 'PRC', unless otherwise stated, 'Swiss Made'. Nice honest video. Many thanks! 🌻
Oh! I did not realize that - thank you so much for that information! 🍸🍸
Rotary watch is the best I have had one for years and it never given me one day's trubel 😅😮😊😅
Oh cool! Yeah I've definitely heard good things about the brand! 🍸🍸
I yave Rotary vintage watch shelf winding 🙂👌👍♥️🇲🇰
Oh cool! I see some pretty amazing Rotary watches come through my feeds. Congratulations on that! 🍸🍸
i have a love/hate relationship with Rotary watches when they get it right its really really good but pants when they get it wrong 😅 the Cambridge is just wrong for me, arabic numerals no thanks, the unseeable date window 😅 still a great watch but think i'll pass on this one.
I can see that, just from checking them out all the time on eBay. Very hit or miss.
You're funny! Pretty debonair video. Thanks.
:) Thank you! 🍸🍸
@@KillingTimeWithNorman You're welcome!
I enjoy Rotary design and heritage but unfortunately they tend to make oversize watches. They have an amazing heritage but instead insist on making horrible scheletonised watches. Wish they would go back to release good watches.
I DEF agree on the skeletonized. I had to scroll past all of those :)
But I did see some pieces that, on paper, appear to be great - and sized well.
My brother actually owns one - I'll have to look at it in person.
@@KillingTimeWithNorman I am seriously considering buying one of the square watches. Your video really triggered my curiosity. I remember watching your older video on Eriksen watches and that also made me curious for square watches. I really think they are amazingly elegant 😃
Not managed to mark the mineral glass, never caught the lugs, or found them uncomfortable, gs00308/21 since 2016, maybe the lugs are the ideal shape and size, since .... if you actually had the watch in your hands, instead of doing a review from a picture, you wouldn't come off, looking like you talk out of your hat!...
Rotary ... No longer available ... How in the HELL do you buy one then ?
Hmm, I'll have to look them up again.
I see them come through on eBay all the time. 🍸🍸
I'm surprised you didn't bring up the Elite reversible watch or the Mecanique. The Mecanique is very similar to the Cartier Santos 100. It's a great way to get something like a Cartier without spending $$$$.......the only disadvantage(if you want to call it that)is the sizable 24mm strap. 22mm would've been better.
none available?😆
:/
???
