You are right. They didn't want to spoil the tank watch aesthetics by giving it a noticeable date window. And in that they succeeded at the expense of having a date you need a microscope to read. I agree that the need to prune the lug to lug.
Recently took notice of this watch while looking for Tank-style pieces. I'm intrigued. Most complaints I've seen seem to be about the choice of movement for the price point. I couldn't comment on that but in terms of looks this watch ticks a lot of boxes. Love the fashion show on various straps. That really helped cement my decision to pick up one of these. I have a Rotary tank watch I bought about 15 years ago or so. Love it with its rose pink face. But tempted by this for a birthday present to me. I have another couple of watches to try on yet, so see how it goes man 👍
Rotary do make some great watches. I have a unisex square ish watch with a date that I love and have had it since the year 2000. The only problem I had with it was it was hard to get the back off to change its battery and I only knew one person who could do this for me that works in a shoe repair shop that also does battery for watches. Also my watch needed a clean inside and look at which was expensive but it’s all working fine. I think Rotary is a good nice brand but kind of gets lost amongst all the other brands out there.
The Cambridge is a good choice for someone who admires the classic retro look but can't afford a Cartier. I dipped my toe in the water with an ultra cheap Avaner, with a small second hand dial at six o'clock and the useless microscopic date window but it also has a guilloche patterned white face that I love. The downside is a terribly cheap plastic strap (that claims to be leather) and a silly coloured glass crown and I think of it as my toy watch. I then got a slightly better Erikson, with Arabic numerals, no date window and a better strap that might even be leather. I like them both but I should have probably gone straight for the Rotary, as the stainless steel and sapphire glass are obviously infinitely better. I love the thumbnail! There's also a SKMEI tank but it's so different because it's bejewelled. There's also the Casio tank homage if you're particular with the brand of the watch.

Thanks Tomas. I agree about the size and calender. However I am still very tempted to buy one I have seen with blue detail and at a good price. Have you tried wearing watches on your right wrist? My right wrist is slightly larger.
I have actually took this watch on holidays to Turkey together with other two watches for the past 6 days. And my eyes got adjusted to the size. It is amazing watch. Looks very elegant.

I'm fed up with the trend of large watches and now thinking of looking at the ladies version. I've had a closer look at Rotary's range of watches and also really like the Regent. Its octagonal shape looks very much like another famous (and expensive) watch but I prefer Rotary's as it does not have the screws on the bezel (which I have never understood).
