Manifesting Babylon in picture so I can see you lose your mind
Lmao 🎉
I wish it does not because it will just make it look like hollywood just jerking itself
I feel like it’s been years since I’ve seen you wear anything besides a hoodie so this was a shock
It's great to see how much your channel has grown over the past couple of years! I've been here since 200 subscribers.
it's 1 AM where I'm at and hearing you say "I would make sweet, sweet love to the Babylon score" was... an experience.
Love these types of videos. Feels good to have someone care about this stuff, for better or for worse the Oscars are kinda our super bowl 😄
01/24/2023 ‐ The day chaos beckons. Happy freaking out film heads! BTW, nice suit Jonathan!
"Babylon" did quite well in France. No surprise, I knew certain European countries are gonna like it. It's just been released almost everywhere worldwide so haven't seen it yet, but I'm seeing during the week yes or yes.
I click the like button even before the video starts playing! love the content

After Punch Drunk Love and Uncut Gems, it would be peculiar for Adam Sandler get in for Hustle. Can't say he wasn't great in it, though!
"I would make sweet, sweet love to the Babylon score"
~The Film Drunk, 2023
It's possible Paul Mescal could get in. Willem Defoe was the sole nom for the Florida Project. Granted, Defoe did have the luxury of already being a well established academy actor.
But he was in the winning conversation tho. He was number 2 behind that guy from three billboard. Paul mescal has been snubbed right and left and he has kinda weak competition in best actor so maybe he can get it
i am praying babylon gets in for picture, that movie is fantastic
I will say regarding Babylon, those who love LOVE it. It's going to get number 1 votes. And it is still movie about Hollywood and movies.
It feels weird to say it, but I feel the revaluation of this movie has already started.
Babylon is an absolute mess, especially the ending. What the hell??? Damien Chazelle couldn't make up his mind what he wanted? A 20's LA Noir Great Gatsby or a sentimental story about the early days of Hollywood from Silent to Talkies? It was a Saturday night and I was the only person in the theater along with a couple in attendance. This movie might become a Cult Classic, but not a Masterpiece! My final taking of this movie is what a great film this could have been???
@@christopherfarley9331 why can’t it be both?
@@christopherfarley9331 you don't get it and it's okay
@@ethanle8511 Because it is not, it's a mess!
@@lordpersius0322 I do get it, it's viewers like you who have misconstrued the movie for what you wanted it to be, instead of what it actually is a big colossal mess. There are the director's intentions and then what actually he failed to execute on screen in telling a decent story for at least 2 hours, but instead forced us to endure 3 hours of a train wreck of pure self-indulgence!
My crazy no guts, no glory predictions...
- Felix Kammerer in Lead Actor (yeah, the one category that All Quiet missed at BAFTA... but he was never Top 3 and the jury clearly wanted to prop up a couple deserving Brits instead). Thing is, Oscar voting closed before those BAFTA noms ever came out (so the jury looking elsewhere means nothing), All Quiet clearly has passion behind it and if you're not buying Mescal at #5 after an underwhelming showing for Aftersun at BAFTA (they had zero reason to snub Wells) then why not a Kammerer coattail as this year's actor that comes out of nowhere on nomination morning?
- Corsage in both Costume Design and International Feature... yeah, the film has controversy but that's directed towards one of its actors not the film or its crafts. #5 in international is pretty much a dart throw (I have Quiet Girl at #4), Corsage sniped Close at BAFTA and had a good showing at the European Film Awards with Krieps landing Actress as Triangle ran the table. Plus, it just feels like a traditional Academy period film inclusion for Costumes even if it did miss with the guilds.
- Pinocchio in Production Design... if any stop-motion animated film is going to land production design recognition, it's going to be one from a del Toro effort. His last three films that made any sort of Oscar noise all had Production Design come along for the ride... so why not here too? That surprise BAFTA nom had me raising an eyebrow.
- Inu-Oh in Animated Feature... that #5 slot doesn't seem to have any passion behind it as people keep tossing about the likes of Wendell & Wild and My Father's Dragon despite the fact that they barely made any noise on the streaming charts and had minimal visibility. Plus, they're both Netflix and clearly Netflix's focus is squarely on getting Pinocchio the win. GKIDS has been inconsistent in category traction since the category expanded beyond a simple branch vote but they found ways to compensate for it in the past with the likes of Mirai. And Inu-Oh has the exact same precursors that Mirai did minus Critics Choice - who don't really matter simply because they're trying to predict the Oscars. We wouldn't be hearing about GKIDS again this year if this 5th slot had been fully secured by anyone else... and yet it hasn't been. Far too much noise for me to overlook Inu-Oh as a dark horse surprise.
I think all quiet on the western front and everything everywhere all at once leads the nominations
i am praying for babylon and MARGOTTTTT my beloved as well
My greatest delusion is that Wakanda Forever will make Best Picture
It’s okay. Some of us are still clinging to the idea that RRR will get into best picture. I feel like Wakanda Forever has a better shot. 😂
Well, there goes that dream
We’re the endgame fellas
The first fatal mistake in Predictions is to predict only who got the most precursors. While it works in most cases, in the last ten years we had a lot of acting nominees with little precursor support. One has the look about passion, coattails, and the accessibility of the films. Not just ah this got all 4 precursors its in. Just last year we had Judi Dench happening without anything, Buckley with very little, Cruz with only critics wins etc.
This Is My 10 and the validation is Great
9:36 he talks about Andrea Riseborough
I just saw Babylon and I personally think is all over the place, I gave it like a 6 out of 10. I recommend to watch the more superior and little seen The Day of the Locust from 1975.
And I like how you talk about awards predictions!👍
Where is Andrea Riseborough in your thumbnail?
i have a weird feeling about tar in editing
hey hey hey
I don’t see Edward Berger getting in at director. He is going to be the Denis Villeneuve of the year where his movie will do well in techs, might even get in best picture, but won’t get a Director nomination. Out of the international directors, I think that Rajamouli has the best shot. His acceptance speech at the Critics choice was sweet, and he’s been campaigning like crazy. I’m torn between him, Luhrman, and Cameron for my fifth spot.
Also, manifesting Adam Sandler to pull an upset and get a surprise nomination. Do it Oscars! Ya cowards!
Denis directed a two-part movie. That's the reason why he wasn't nominated
i think babylon would be an interesting piece in chazelles career rather than a magnum opus like whiplash or la la land, he's probably going back to more confined storylines (whiplash, la la land, first man) where it focuses on only one or two characters rather than a huge cast like babylon, because that seems to be the movies where he shines
I don’t see Babylon going down as a classic/masterpiece. Whiplash is always going to be Chazelle’s magnum opus. Babylon is going to be Chazelle’s Eyes Wide Shut.
Chazelle swung for the fences and ended up with a sloppy inside the Park home run.
I can’t believe all the RUclipsr predictors tried to convince me of a The Whale best picture nomination 🤣🤣🤣🤣
95% of our predictions are same! Let's get Paul Mescal his Oscar Nom!!
I hope Tom Cruise or Hugh Jackman take the fifth spot in best Actor.
I hope it doesn’t get in but the fact that Minions: The Rise Of Gru isn’t being talked about in animated feature when it not only made lots of money but also got the PGA nom. I think if not 5 it’s at least 6 or 7.
Can’t wait for BABYLON to sweep
I hope Naatu Naatu wins Original Song. the song is phenomenal.
So disappointed you left off Morbius
MANIFESTING TRIANGLE IN THE 10 LESGO BABYYYY
RRR is the best movie in 2022, it already won golden globe, critics choice
I hope RRR will win oscar for best film, best actor NTR, best director SSR💥💗🤝
Naatu naatu won those awards, not the film
kerry condon should be the sole white nominee in her category

Yeah
10:02 watch the movie To Leslie. Andrea's performance deserves the oscar this year.
Now that's not the copy and paste comment we all agreed on in the meeting with our agents.
@@macylightfoot I am an organic fan of the movie. sorry hater
@@cristianacevedo178 Sounds like something an inorganic fan of the movie would say.
@@macylightfoot nobody's paying me for this online campaign. To Leslie is a small film with a big heart ♥️
I'm gonna go bananas if Babylon gets BP. I want SO BADLY for that to happen.
It’s very sad for women talking and Babylon 😭😭😭.
Babylon > Triangle of Sadness IMO
No way. Triangle is top 3 of the year.
RRR
10th spot is either Babylon or Women Talking.
Triangle is looking strong.
I can see Stephanie Tsu getting in just by being a coattail nominee like Jesse Plemons in The Power of the Dog, but she would be a stronger nominee than he was because she got CC and SAG.
So you're not going to Sundance? Awwww
I'd love to see All Quiet On The Western Front nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay but I would hate to see it win because it was an AWFUL adaptation as far as adaptations go. Having read the book and seen the previous two films, this history buff was thoroughly disappointed.
Ana de Armas over Michelle Williams ??? Lol 😂😂
Plenty of room for both. Ana for a lead nom and Michelle for a supporting nom (and shock win!!).
@@rhythmoriented Michelle has been campaigning for lead not supporting.
@@encheknizam true, but that didn’t stop The Academy from nominating Lakeith Stanfield for supporting actor. In reverse, The Academy nominated Kate Winslet in lead after being campaigned in a supporting role.
@@rhythmoriented same case with Olivia Colman who was supposed to be in supporting instead of leading in The Favourite.
@@encheknizam good pickup.
My prediction:
Picture: The Banshees...
Director: The Daniels
Actor:?
Actress: Michelle Yeoh
Actress2: Kerry Condon
Actor2: Ke Huy Quan
Orig Screenplay: The Banshees...
Adapted:?
No women directed in best picture? Good luck with that
Michelle Yeoh should win and will win the Oscar
Amen
Andrea Riseborough will win for To Leslie
@@cristianacevedo178 Nehhh! I think not!
@@cristianacevedo178 Holy shit! H-How? How did you know she got in?
Let's face it, Babylon is overrated and over hyped in some circles.
Overrated how? Its reception was incredibly mixed, and leaned more into the negative side. It has a 55% on rotten tomatoes.
@@poett8875 Some pundits mistaking it for a bona fide masterpiece.
