I love everything William Friedkin says loll. I don’t agree with him every thing but he says but he’s a great listen.
Regarding Leo and Vera’s love scene, it was one of the very few parts of the film I couldn’t quite connect with tbh. It felt a bit contrived in the context to progressing the plot of her uncovering Damon’s true nature, which was implausible to me. In Infernal Affairs, the relationship between the treacherous cop and his fiance parallels that of the informant and his shink rather than cross, which makes the circumstances more believable. It was a very bold subplot but really contrived with also much overacting from Leo for his relationship with Vera lol. Kinda reminds me of Wolf of Wall Street where he did a lot of deliberate overacting to show how doped up Jordan Belfort was all the time!😂
I don’t disagree about the over acting lol. I really notice it the first time he goes to therapy and how he’s hamming it up but she still buys what he’s selling. That always stuck out like a sore thumb.

Dude, Mark Wahlberg’s performance was slick as fck in the scenes where he was trading snarky blows with Alec Baldwin lol. Being South Bostonian himself, his regional accent and mannerisms were totally natural compared to Leo and Damon having to apply acting to theirs.😎
It’s just so natural to him but Alec was able to meet him with their hating back and forth. I’ve worked with people like that in New York actually loll.
In my opinion, this is a remake that is superior in many ways to its source, Infernal Affairs. The 3 central characters played by DiCaprio, Damon and Nicholson all have more texture than their counterparts in IA, and some knockout performances also by the supporting players like Mark Wahlberg and Alec Baldwin, and their mutual animosity just cracks me up lol. Did you know the X motif was first used by Howard Hawks in the original Scarface? I’m holding off on this upgrade since I just rewatched my Blu-ray copy a few months ago as a side by side comparison to IA, so it should be a fresher viewing experience by the time it goes on a Black Friday sale lol….and Thanks for validating this 4K doesn’t suck, John!
No problem buddy, It’s my pleasure. I actually did know about that being taken from the original Scarface. That’s why I love Marty so much he doesn’t hide inspiration even though that one is obvious loll. The performances are all so good in this movie. No character is waisted.
Man!! Kind of surprised that warner didn't do a dolby Atmos for this movie, they usually do dolby Atmos on this kind of movies
Some films are more deserving of audio upgrades than others, I suppose.
I thought this movie of all movies based on the music and the sound effects on the film that this would have been worthy of an Atmos track myself.
Leo’s punches and kicks during the beatdown of those 2 mob guys at the liquor store could’ve had a nicer thump from ATMOS!
@nickchang5293 It definitely would have! The movie would have definitely benefited from it. But the whole audio track didn’t get as much hype love as the visuals did.

I used to just love mafia type movies and then I think I got burned out. I haven't seen one in years. Debating if i should try this one out again.
You should. I felt the same and rewatched recently.
I think you should. Sometimes break helps though. It’s how I feel with Comic book films. I’m pretty much taking a break unless something comes up b it a break really does help. The Departed I always forget how good it is until I watch it again.

Just the perfect blend of music and genuine acting. It actually doesn’t feel forced but very in the moment. Not a sex scene just to have a sex scene.
I actually disagree about Decaprio. He was brilliant from almost day 1.his performances in basketball diaries and who's eating Gilbert grape were phenomenal. Way before he was famous
I completely agree! Basketball Diaries especially. I didn’t mean to say he wasn’t a great actor it just felt like he was miscast in Gangs of New York and The Aviator. I think he was a little too young and he wasn’t one of the greatest actors on the planet yet. But you’re absolutely right he’s great in those movies.

Excited to watch but wasn’t happen to buy. Absolutely hate Warner Brothers. Expire all their codes even when I buy brand new from the store, now they aren’t including blurays with the 4Ks. They are pushing their luck with me. Greedy ass company
WB is the worst right now when it comes to Greed. I just bought the Goonies on 4K so of course the code inside expired in 2022 lol

Even paid more for some or there large sets like GOT 4K and LOTR Sets and WB digital said there was nothing there could do. 2 years is ridiculous as well. Just got the Beekeeper as well and no Bluray lol. As if everything wasn’t expensive enough
