I grew up listening to Eric Burdon and the Animals in 1964 with House of the Rising Sun and liked his vocals and of course the organ (I am an organ player) and then when Eric Burdon declares War came out it showed me his eclectic stylings and roots and creativity. In 1982 I toured with Eric for the year and did some recording but I never saw him do the same show twice - always creative. But that period with War I liked more. Eric never felt he was the band leader, only a member and musician in the band and guided and suggested rather than dictating and he always worked on direction with the keyboardists - Alan Price, Dave Rowberry, Zoot Money, Lonnie Jordan, Brian Auger and others and I was lucky enough to work with him in 1982 and 2006-2016. In 1982 we played at the Roxy and Lonnie came to the show - we went to the after party at a friend of Eric's house and Lonnie and I played 4 hands for several hours on an old square grand piano. I had not seen a lot of the videos of the band Eric & War had together but thanks to the internet and RUclips I can finally see not just hear the collaborations. It's very refreshing knowing what was inside Eric back then and what I heard in the years before and after I played with him. Inspiring...
Right on man!
War is 1 of the bands that I collect vinyl LPs by. Are you on any of their albums? Anything that you played on that I should look up ??
Wait a minute, I just put Red Young into discogs and it immediately came up with Joan Armatrading and Dolly Parton... that’s pretty cool !! I probably already have wax with you on the keys 🤓🤓🤓
@@igottawriteabook I didn't play with War but I knew the guys. We did a cruise with Eric and Harold Brown and Lee Oscar were leading the Low Rider Band and Lee showed up once one time we played in Seattle and we played Spill The WIne and Mother Earth. I kept going into Roll On Kirk and Lee eventually joined in. I liked all the Eric Burton and War stuff. In 1982 Lonnie Jordan and I played 4 hand piano at a party after I played at the Roxy in LA with Eric. Did 4 albums with Joan plus 3 years of touring. I worked with Cher on a TV special (and of course with Sonny on the road) and Dolly was a special guest. When she did 9 to 5 she asked me to play in Las Vegas for six months and after that she did Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Played on some of those recordings and also Heartbreak Express. I'll post that sometime on my RUclips video page. Linda Ronstadt was another vocalist I worked with.
@@RedYoungOne I’ve watched several concerts on RUclips with you and the band playing with Eric and you were all great. I loved your music. I especially loved the Loreley Open Air Festival in 1982!
I’ve come to the conclusion that Eric Burdon is the coolest dude that ever lived.
I agree after recently studying his career.
He did his way.
He has swag forever.
I concur! Bonus-he's aged SO wise and classy!
😂❤😂❤❤
Yessssss
I am an old man drummer that cut my chops playing in the 60s and 70s. I loved Eric Burdon - the Blackest White Man I ever heard. His music will stand the test of time - and to be honest; when I hear him sing I hear Delta Blues. We lived at the perfect time - the music we created, and enjoyed was/is the greatest ever heard or played at anytime.
I am grateful to the internet for this same reason - it is the museum , a repository for the music that should live on for centuries , long after we are all gone.
Right on
-✌️❤️🎵
Definitely I was born in 69 so I grew up in the 70s we had all those albums everything from Rock and roll to funk to r&b to jazz even some of my aunties include my grandmother at classical albums Mozart and stuff like that so yeah I grew up in all that music plus I'm a drummer myself at the age of 53 years old LOL 🥁🥁
No truer words
Agree!
I feel ya,hermano
Eric Burden will kick anyone's ass in a music fight.
Cool first and always. You can't fake cool, you can't buy cool , you have it or you don't. Eric got it.
If you didn't feel this in the depths of your core, you are dead. Pure , raw gold. What a vibe. Burden and War made love on this one❤ Hell, every one!🎼🎵
Oh yeah they did
He was called the Musician's Musician by other musicians. His voice, rhythm, and timing was/is impeccable. The audience here are duds. I'd be on my feet the whole time. Long live Eric Burdon.
WAR didn't need Eric to be great...they already were. Eric sold WAR to America with his own unique abilities and name recognition. Deep, Deep talent here!
Yes yes exactly right 💪🔥🐐
War and Eric Burdon, a match made in heaven. Thank you to everybody who made it possible to see this great performance decades later!
Это круто, а вам есть что вспомнить. ❤👏👍🤘🤝
Eric Burdon and The Animals

Thank you!!!❤ War!!! What a sound.
I’ve been in love with Eric B since 9th grade. I am now 69. God he’s hot.
He was born for THIS
Eric Burdon and War...pure soul!
Eric remembers so many words and the band has so many instrument players. I just find all these guys so incredibly talented putting all this together and the incredible music writing. Pure genius !!!
When I was five, I wanted to be Eric Burdon.
Eric Burdon, you are the best and will always be
This video is from 50 years ago... How could we have evolved so miserably little in 50 years? What has happened to us? What have they done to us?
Since you wrote Little did you know how bad it was going to get and still getting? It sad it had to get to this point. But it's Biblical it must happen because it is written. God Help Us All.♥️🙏
prob lots these days are brainwashed to bull and forgot about music from heart and soul or rock and forgot about the roll
but not all the youngsters!

The time, my friend.. The time...
As things progress, we regress it's just what humans do. But don't fret time is cycular after all.
@@jojo-pz5te time? my friend .....

When Talented Humans come 2gether....
War one of the baddest bands of all times no one even comes close never will
I love Eric Burdon, the White Blues man.
Eric Burdon had it all. The voice, the name, the looks, the vibe. And the cowbell.
Strangersname -- Mick Jagger couldn't shine Burdon's shoes.
@@marilynguinnane4663 He was in a Class by himself!
Yes so true Eric is one of a kind otstanding and his voice

Shame Burdon didn't get to lend any vocals on his friend jimi's work.
I am sooooo in love with Eric and I'm 52 ,always have my dreams ....
Eric was way, way, way underrated!!!One of the most distinctive and recognized voices in music period. War was incredible!!!!!
And hot
This band was always 100% genuine to me. No gimmicks. All heart.
It's true.
THE definition of Front Man/Vocalist
Eric is fucking awesome. And WAR is fucking awesome too.

All the way around…that was a masterpiece!
Man...If his work with The Animals wasn't enough...We have War, as well!
He’s just the coolest mofo ever a real solid badass
Eric Burdon 80 ... can't be ... his heart is a teenager ...

Brian Jones called Eric the greatest blues singer to come out of England and this is one of the reasons why...... and this band was absolutely phenomenal !
Eric Burdon and War
BEST COLLABORATION EVER ❗❕❗❕❗❕❗❕❗❕
Best concerts I ever attended❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The original Animals were damn good too
Absolutely in the beginning, The Animals....!
Afterwards when he collaborated with others (Witherspoon, Auger, etcetera) - ALL wonderful....he was still the best....
imho i think his best collab was War members.
Had pleasure of meeting him in person, attended many of his concerts over the years. Always my fave singer, author....
and a wonderful person ❗❗
When I think of Eric Burdon, I think of him with War. Happy Birthday!!!
Великолепно навсегда❤
Eric Burdon, the man the legend!!
And with WAR was jus the supra sumo of the music, just amazing!!
Eric Burden always brings it with the cowbell.
Hell yea man. Let's boogie!
Love you Eric. Keep the spirit of the music. Maybe someday people will find a way to get together again. I sure hope so.
Just turned 65. Grew up with Eric ...It was the best of times. Growing up in SF 60-70s was the greatest. Music Everywhere. Winterland with it's 3 dollar full shows with all the greats. Thanks for being a Big part of my journey. Much Appreciated ❤
WAR was/is the BEST. Eric Burden was the icing on the cake of funk. I saw WAR three times. Mesmerizing!!!
Hello Gail, How are you doing?
GREAT!
Only a word, Sublime.
Lord have mercy my heart!!! Eric is so good-looking and I love his voice🥰🥰🥰😍😊
Eric Burden seemed to attract really fine musicians solely on his dedication to blues, and powerful voice. There’s not too many of these videos of War, and I’m so glad I found this one.
Unbelievable jam session. God bless Eric Burdon!!!
Stimmt genau.
yes I am Canadian, I love all humans no matter what color, cree or race. Period!!!
Unique - and that's a wonderful concert. I discovered just in January 2023 and it blew me off.❤
Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
I was 19 when first heard Eric Burdon singing house of the rising sun, I am now 76yrs old and enjoying this video with war! That makes me blessed! thank you
I am 72 and enjoying the music in 2022.
74 and alive
Phycodelic Soul.... Deep down in the Soul Universe Baby Just Dig it man....
Greetings from Oregon. One of the hardest working bands ever. Thanks. Inspirational.
He was great with the animals , but then went on to another level with war , what a combo !.
80 yrs. OF A GENIUS @ WORK ☮️🇺🇸✝️❤️💗
The Bass player (B.B.) Morris Dickerson is the best BASS player ever!!! I had the chance to meet & spend 3days & nights with BB in the back room of 'morehead' head shop in berdo. I'll never forget those times. to bad they pushed him out of war i lost interest after that! But thanks for reminding of how Great they were as WAR!!! G.O.A.T. B.B.!!!
80 years young 🦋 Happy Birthday Eric
We all love you 😘
Nobody sings the blues better than Eric Burdon'. I love War too, they are the funkiest mix of artists from way back then. How cool were they? Burdon's songs bring back old memories. Thanks for posting.
Outstanding musicianship from everyone of them, delicious sax solo, and burdon.... a proper fucking rock star
Eric and war - true kings

Long life Eric Burdon ! Happy birthday !
The original WAR: Awesome band.....
Eric Burdon a classic in his own way people forget about him but he's one of the best been listening to since I've been growing up
I concur 👍🏽
Happy Birthday King ERIC!
I produced Eric Burdon in the new animals in 2000 and 2004 the best two concerts we ever had at Mookie’s place Huntington New York
Read a few dozen comments without seeing the word harmonica. Drums are my world but that guy was a major energy resource from my perspective.
Awesome ❣️
Praise the Lord for giving you a powerful voice and talented musicians with so much passion to touch the hearts deeply.
God bless you all 🙏💛⚘️
My Love Eric Burdon...💓
can you feel the soul ????
Yes I can feel 😉🥴
This band was on fire and Eric, WOW! Eric was possessed! His voice, his charisma, his movement, his natural talent & raw sex appeal off the scale! What a man, what a soul! 🔥🔥🔥
Arguably the greatest jam band ever! The improv showed the commonality and talent of all on the stage. What they did with this was set the stage for other great bands like Zep, Skynard, Allman Bros, the Dead and others that pulled off great musical improv live in front of the audience.
Eric Burdon knew what he was doing when he put together WAR... all very talented but no virtuoso/standouts that could hog the spotlight... no, this was all about the music; greater than any individual musician. That ability to create music on the spot, live... that's an artform if you do it right.
Growing up, WAR was one of my greatest influences (them, Zep and Allman's)... the "art of the improv" came from Jazz and Blues and when done right, in Rock and Roll, becomes something of beauty, energy and admiration...
THANK YOU @Eric Burdon Tribute Channel 11 for this awesome rare vid... you make my life more complete!
Wholly shit!!! How did i miss this my whole life? This is probably the greatest super band of all time at its peak. WOW. Thank you!
Yea dude war is so underrated
I saw War in a 3500 seat Hall in summer of '74. They blew the lid off the joint. Tightest band I ever saw. And I saw all the heavyweights '67-'77. Unforgettable.
@@jg6698 Too bad you didn't bootleg the show! I can imagine they we're just breathtaking. They we're definitely the next level.
@@majik_man yep
The cookie cutters of today just cannot understand
I agree they produce a look and a product. No real talent or skill. Nothing special
Burden and War 5 star Michelin when it comes to “cookin’” ! 👍👍👍👍👍😘
No, they can't. Same beat, chord progressions and formulation of every modern song is the same.
Well said
Say it brother.. The music from the early 60s to 70s was God, love and acid. You had to be there. I was and you were! We are so lucky. The music today does not do its own editing, layering, creating . Once John Lennon created the method, pieces were saved and used. He created true, raw, complicated, layered sounds.
Thx gor your comment. It took me backkkk
Funky blues like to never be seen again...the best of the 70's...a place, time, mind...I was a teenager then smokin the Maui wowie with the Saint Paulie girls and Becks...life was great
The year of my birth put out some great music. June 71
SPIRIT, BABE!
love how Eric Burdon improvises with his voice and not to mention the rest of the band improvising, a musical wonder.
Nobody ever since Eric Burdon & WAR reached this intense level of spoul and spirit and rock!
how the audience was so chill is beyond me because i was so on board that i could not have sat
that still!
I'm not sure but in some venues dancing was actually not allowed due to the small size of the space, something about fire codes etc at the time, maybe that was the case here
@@graciemaye6381 or could be fart code
Probably all stoned
Music like this just can’t be replicated these days. Music from deep inside!
Wau verá good song
most do not have the energy, stamina or THE Love of making music.especially Jam Session Music.Get stoned have a good time.No worries as we have these daze.
Even if today's music industry try to make music like this it will never happen what they call music today is appalling
Especially in monologue! 🌸
Music of today is 💩
When Grandpa's and Grandma's were cooler than the grandkids! Lol ✌️ ...and still are.

Рада возможности слушать и видеть легендарную музыку🎉😍❤
What a sharp, clean, clear, voice. Perfect for rock, jazz, etc.
Can't believe I'm just discovering this now. These guys were on fire
The epitome of cool!
.....Dopo cinquant'anni è sempre un piacere ascoltare Erich Burdon & War...
Eric fucking Burdon. The reincarnation of Elmore James singing. The absolute best. This band and him were great
Mr Eric Burdon one of the most underrated vocalist .... he puts mick to shame !! .. and when WAR and eric came together nobody could touch them ... the time they spent together should be a documentary .. they have that special attachment that blends together !!
Wow my mind is blown 🤯!!!!!
This is what real music sounds like kids! One of the greatest, iconic group of musicians of all time.. It's a shame what passes as music today! Listen very closely, pick out each instrument and hear their part. It's called a band!!!! Whoa! A band? Yes! A Band! Their not around anymore, but listen to this music , compare it to music today, and then you can cry like I do! Sometimes you can go see some 70 ...80 year Olds playing their hits!!! Guess it's all we have left!!!! God Bless!
Thanks, dad. Don't cry. Take a couple hits of Geritol and rock on.
With u on that,my bro'.This is çoming from one of ÿour peers.
Such a stone cold groove. That opening riff woooh and rest of the band are on point
It's a shame these guys didn't get the same longterm recognition as bands like Santana, but man am I glad I found these collaborations
I saw War, w/o Eric Burdon, Summer of '76- they opened the Doobie Bros. Opening song -"Why can't we be Friends?" They were fantastic, as were the Doobies, 1st song of their set was... "Jesus is just Alright". It was a special time - I was privledged to be there! So much spirit of LOVE & Unity ❤️
I saw War about 20 years ago at the Liberty Lunch, Austin, Texas. They played all of the old hits and jammed on them. Played for 2 hours easy. Memorable show.

@@ellenmcintyre1247 Bonsoir Ellen , you were lucky to be there in that fantastic time when people used to fight for each other. A l'époque , je vivais dans mon pays , le Congo en Afrique central et nous étions fanatiques de War et Eric Burdon et je n'oublie pas les Doobie Brothers . Quelle période fantastique de ma jeunesse. Bonsoir depuis Paris ( France ).
Happy belated birthday Eric. One of a kind..
I saw them in this year in a hall that couldn't have had 200 people in it because of a severe snow storm that night. Rod Stewart and the Faces also on the bill. War was positively mesmerizing. When their set ended it took a few minutes to get reoriented to reality.
