Great video Jett. I am a father and 43. I use this game to chill out in the evening. I lose or I win it doesn't matter. You do great and will always be my favorite channel for the game. Sometimes I am with my small little cute daughter as it happens for you. Climbing on my lap she yells ( even though I had just lost): Daddy has won! These are moments I cherish.
Absolutely can relate. 32 father of a 2 & 4 yo. I work full time, my wife works part time. I love giving cards to my oldest and we like watching your videos together. I go to a local Pokemon league that runs on a Friday night which gets me out the house and gives me some real me time, while my wife invites a friend over and they enjoy a wine or two 😅 really good to hear the reality of playing games like this from you as a family person.
I just started playing Pokemon TCG live! And I found your videos! I just wanted to say I am enjoying them a lot! helping me learn more about the game in general.
As a 31 year old father of a 3 month old, I can definitely relate to the struggles of playing the TCG. For now, I've had to for go in person events (pre-release tourneys were my favorites) and mostly put down TCG Live. The timer on turns and stress the game can cause are a bit too much for me in my current circumstances. However, I've been able to continue warching youtubers like yourself play the game and I feel like I'm playing on a team alongside you (sometimes raging at the screen when the player doesnt see a better line of attack😅). My wife and I still play together with physical cards, though infrequently and it isn't as competitive as on TCG Live or in person. I personally wish TCG Live had an option to remove the timer when playing with friends to better enable play for parents.
All card games should have multiple formats just because it helps people find niches they like. I just found out about gym leader challenge and i love the idea of having no rule box pokemon with 1 copy of cards. It reminds me of stuff like goat or edison in yugioh
as someone who comes from yugioh and magic pokemon rotation is so much better because when I played standard in magic you could be spending 3 maybe 500 bucks on a single deck then rotation hit and most of your deck losses value and also becomes unplayable and yugioh sometimes even worse because their rotation is their ban list and that game hurts even more because you have top tier decks at over 1000 dollars especially since as somebody who loves lugia vstar I've played it alot through the last few season of ptcgl since it was a power house in silver tempest and every time theirs rotation or a new meta the deck was able to adjust and still make itself viable when it's alot harder to do that in other games
Double Turbo I think will definitely get replaced or reprinted. There has nearly always been a double-colorless energy in the format; Twin Energy before DT, and years of Double Colorless before that. We may see something new with a new restriction-I favor reviving Twin energy, a double colorless that only works on non-rule-box pokemon. But as it's a staple card type in the game, I think we'll see it make a return in the next regulation stamp.
Absolutely can relate. My wife and i used to sink sometimes the whole weekend into mmorpgs. Now that the little one (1,5yr) is there, we find maybe some times when she is asleep. I play my dailys in ptcgl mostly during my lunchbreak at work.
I bought the Palkia League Battle Deck (irl cards), and had to sell it the next month, because being a single parent, I have almost 0 hrs to play irl. Hoping by the time I'll have the zard LBD, I have more time for weekends
41 yr old parent and father of 3 young children. In addition, my mother is undergoing a medical situation right now so playing the game is strictly now a late-night PTCGL session for me. Haven't been to my LGS for close to 3 months now 😅 but the Pokemon passion still burns
Being a father and playing the game is very difficult, my kids range from toddlers to middle school aged. Sometimes they play sometimes I rushing through a match either online or playing myself just to get dinner started. So I understand the difficulty of life and game balance. 😂
From what I've noticed, it seems like the TCG is instead of V cards being big dogs, it's the Tera Cards. I've teased the idea of merging my Miraidon deck with some Psychic cards and it's turning out well considering what the new rotation could be. Though, we don't know what's going to come out until next rotation.
If anyone's stuck on what deck to pick up while concerned about rotation, I'd recommend Charizard ex and Raging Bolt. A majority of both decks are G and H block cards, and are also relatively easy to pick up gameplay wise. Plus Charizard has that League Battle Deck releasing next month, with plenty of staple trainer cards in there. (You could still pick up Gardevoir if you wanted to but I wouldn't recommend it unless you know how to work around the loss of Kirlia's draw engine.)
There's no way to work around the loss of Kirlia as of now, unless something similar comes out in the future. Cycling Road may be a fine option for kitchen table playing (it still helps the deck running) but it's nowhere close to be sufficiently good for competitive play. We just have to hope they reprint that kirlia or print a very similar kirlia, or some other support pokemon (like, a Bibarel but more "compatible" with Gardevoir, for which discarding was actually GOOD to get those psychic energies in the trash) that is good enough to make the deck run without issues. If we're stuck with a bad Kirlia, it should be dropped entirely (or played as a 1-of/2-of just to be safe and not rely 100% on candies), no reason to play 4 like we do now. Which would free up space for an hypothetical draw/discard engine substitute.
@@TheSpartanS196 Revavroom from Scarlet and Violet has energy discard required for pretty much the exact same ability as Bibarel. The upcoming N's Zoroark has an ability where you discard 1 card to draw 2. @@shinyocelot04archiveI was actually thinking that we may change the whole concept of how we think of the deck to begin with. Right now we play "the gardevoir deck", as the whole deck runs around gardevoir. It may be possible that in the future we'll play gardevoir not as the "core" of the deck but as an engine in some other deck. If a new strong psychic ex "boss monster" comes out, maybe the "gardevoir deck" will die but we'll play gardevoir the way we play pidgeot in charizard: it's not "the pidgeot deck", it's the CHARIZARD deck, but pidgeot is a great support for it (and dragapult, and cinderace... and whatever deck uses it, really lol). From 4 ralts 4 kirlia 3 gardevoir (just mentioning your average line up, I use 4-4-2 myself, and I play 1 gallade that searches for a Supporter card each turn, which will also rotate in March) to 2-0-2, where you just play a ralts, throw a candy on it and leave gardevoir sitting there while it helps that deck without being the sole purpose. We'll see, I guess

The inspiration for this video was that I put out a general call for questions and many of them were rotation-related. Both decks lose some valuable pieces but we don’t know what they’ll gain on the other side. Too early to write off either deck. Again, for perspective, Gardevoir lost all of its attackers in the last formation and it’s still a top deck now. Not every deck will thrive after rotation like Gardevoir did, but we can’t pass a verdict either way without knowing what’s ahead.
@@liamlashley6976 Standard format does not do hard resets like you're describing. The format is almost always the most recent 2-3 years worth of cards, with the oldest year of cards falling out of rotation once a year. By the time rotation rolls around, the card pool shrinks by 1/3 each time.
Yeah raging bolt is entirely unchanged by rotation, aside from trekking shoes, but that isnt the biggest loss, radiant greninja is gonna be tough to lose but raging bolt has other draw engines so we will be okay
You’ve still got a number of months to play Roaring Moon as we know it. Losing Dark Patch will suck, but I don’t necessarily see it as the death knell. If you really wanted to, nothing is stopping you from using a combination of Blissey, Glass Trumpet, and energy switch to maintain energy acceleration. There might even be an even better accelerant than Dark Patch post-rotation. The beauty of this game is that it never stays the same. Always enjoy the moment while it’s here and look forward to all the new stuff ahead. Worst case scenario, play Expanded! (When Pokemon TCG Live fully updated the game to support it)
I think it's because we have so many new players that started in the past few years. If you started playing with inteleon, quick ball, level ball, battle vip and evo incense you probably think the game doesn't work without insanely broken search cards and way too much energy acceleration right now. I wish they would rotate now and maybe ban some stuff. There's too many cards and decks. I hope we get back to a more narrow format and meta gaming will actually matter again instead of just being able to play the same deck all season
I want a card in the next set that reads: Flip a coin, if heads, draw up to six prize cards. If tails, your opponent draws up to six prize cards. Would be a great meme card.
So a meta-defining card with countless inclusions in top decks, including the 2022 and 2023 world championship decks is somehow bad? limitlesstcg.com/cards/CRE/148/decklists You don’t have to like Path, but you can’t argue its power and ubiquity in the meta at the time of its legality.

Do they ever do hard resets?
What do you mean by hard reset?
@@InThirdPerson Like with right now we have so many sets in regulation. from sword and shield to current, do they ever just start all overt again?
@@liamlashley6976 Standard format does not do hard resets like you're describing. The format is almost always the most recent 2-3 years worth of cards, with the oldest year of cards falling out of rotation once a year. By the time rotation rolls around, the card pool shrinks by 1/3 each time.
@@InThirdPerson oh cool! I was just curious if stuff like that ever happened. Thanks for the response
One deck that won't survive rotation is Regidrago VSTAR lol
Not regidrago vstar, all other vstar, vmax, radiant pokemon will rotate in april 2025
I'm worried for Raging bolt ç_ç
I’m not. Most is safe
Yeah raging bolt is entirely unchanged by rotation, aside from trekking shoes, but that isnt the biggest loss, radiant greninja is gonna be tough to lose but raging bolt has other draw engines so we will be okay
But I wanna keep playing Roaring Moon ex… 🥺
I want a card in the next set that reads:
Flip a coin, if heads, draw up to six prize cards. If tails, your opponent draws up to six prize cards.
Would be a great meme card.
I'm scared of losing Kirlia boo hoo
Finally. No more yellow borders.
This!!!! Ever since the silver I cannot STAND THE YELLOW 🤮
First!!!!!!!
I'm ready for V's to be gone, along with some cards from the era. Tired of seeing Lugia VSTAR tbh.
Rotate the damn dusknoir. It was so creative when it came out with Charizard ex deck. Now, its everywhere. Annoying level
Ha my ogerpon hydrapple deck destroys these cards 😂
Rotation is a total scam
Bro thinks path to the peak was a good card. All of bros opinions are now and forever invalidated.
So a meta-defining card with countless inclusions in top decks, including the 2022 and 2023 world championship decks is somehow bad?

You don’t have to like Path, but you can’t argue its power and ubiquity in the meta at the time of its legality.
