There are WAY too many people in the comments saying that this combo doesn't work - I know it's not the most intuitive card text, but please read the official rules before making yourself look silly: Q: My Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex has a Sparkling Crystal attached and only one Double Turbo Energy on it. If I use its "Torrential Pump" attack, can I shuffle the Double Turbo Energy back into the deck and do damage to a benched Pokemon? A: Yes, this is a case of doing as much as you can. You would get to do the bench damage even though you can't detach 3 energy, but you must shuffle in SOME energy in order to get the bonus. You shuffle the two energy that are attached back into the deck, and do 80 to the active and 100 to the bench (remember, damage is still reduced for the DTE since the detachment happens after damage is done). If you have a perfect opener and your opponent always goes first and only plays low hp basic pokemon and no more than 2 of them then you can win win turn 1 every game!
I'm confused. How does this work? Wellspring Ogerpon states that you have to shuffle 3 energy cards back into your deck to get the 120 bench damage. It is worded very specifically that you have to shuffle in 3 energy cards. If you attach a crystal and DTE, then that's only 1 energy card thereby making it impossible to get the bench damage benefit. Am i just dumb and missing something obvious? Is this meant to be satire? I'm seriously very confused.
You aren't dumb, it's just not super intuitive - in Pokemon you fulfil as much of the effect as possible, so it will actually work after you shuffle in just the DTE (assuming that is your only energy)
@@timdanklinthis still doesn’t make sense. The effect states “You may shuffle 3 energy attached to this Pokémon into the deck. IF YOU DO, this attack also does 120 damage to one of your opponent’s benched Pokemon. Even the DTE is just 2 energy. It doesn’t fulfill the requirement of 3 energy. If you don’t have the 3 energy to send you can’t just send 2. If it said “up to 3” then it would be different.
@@timdanklinseems like this is just a case of “this card was printed terribly so Pokémon just said this is how it works even though it goes against the actual rules of the game”
@@timdanklinby this “fulfilling the requirement as much as you can” rule, we should be able to use cards like Ultra Ball or Superior Energy Retreival with one card in hand because you are “fulfilling as much of the requirement as you can”.

This would definitely be cool to try out!!! It'd give the deck such a nice turn 1 attacking option when you have to go second
@@timdanklin That's exactly the thing. The deck is gas but has no Turn 1 attack to put the pressure on going second. I'll be testing it and seeing how it goes.
@@vesperianstar if you end up liking it could you please send me your deck list? Thanks!
@@mercury2c Update: It was a terrible idea. Screws up all ratios. Deck becomes really inconsistent and you never use Ogerpon that often anyway. Would not recommend.
I tried this on TCG live and nope,
if u have only one Dual Turbo and one Water energy, they are both consumed.
well yeah like they said, doing as much as you can. if there's only a DTE, you can only shuffle back the DTE
Shuffles the DTE and still works when I have the Crystal attached.
If you have a perfect opener and your opponent always goes first and only plays low hp basic pokemon and no more than 2 of them then you can win win turn 1 every game!
So how do i shuffel 3 energy back in my deck if i only have 1 doubleturbo ?
In Pokemon you fulfil as much of the effect as possible, so you shuffle the DTE in and it still works
But shufflng the energies is not an after attack effect, it is a required condition for the attack. So wouldn't be invalid?
@@heirsolo08 It's legit you only need to shuffle the DTE, it a loop hole over the word 'May' if it read 'You Must' it wouldn't work
if i sub will my opponents prize all their charizards? :)
@@timdanklinby this “fulfilling the requirement as much as you can” rule, we should be able to use cards like Ultra Ball or Superior Energy Retreival with one card in hand because you are “fulfilling as much of the requirement as you can”.
it doesn't say 3 energy cards it says 3 energy, DTE counts as 2, but yes, it has to be 3 energy, still can't haha
Decklist???
I watched the entire video but i stil dont get how that ogerpon combo is a gg turn 1? Doesnt look that good to me
But the attack says u have shuffle 3 energy so DTE wouldn’t work
It is definetely working in the TCG Live... So it is either a bug, or it works like that
it says you may shuffle..
@@salvanoize ya u may shuffle to do the 120 damage that just means u can choose to not do the attack
When it says that, but you don’t technically have the energy, you go as far as you can and still get the effect because you made the choice to do so.
@@GarlicBreadBen that’s dumb how would it be different then me using chenpow to deal 300 damage but only discarding 2 energy bc that’s all I had
pokemon just aint fun when it is a turn one turn two game. rip the format and the idea of having comeback cards when players can use those comeback cards while in the lead.
well, without a video with this working.. doesnt make sense the explaining video
You mean turn 2 since the turn 1 player can't use a support or attack.
You're right, but it's still called a turn 1 attack in Pokemon (Turn 1 going second)
If you read the card, thsi doesnt make any sense
you can't use the effect of dealing bench damage cause you are not shuffling 3 energy, if is possible in tcg live, is a bug
Would like a deck list for this
I’m sorry but the only people this deck would beat are beginners or people that brick and you have to pull it off turn 1 or the deck just sucks. 😂
Oh this guy thinks he's slick I didn't forget about the ditto video 🤌🤌🤌
Going to use this with iron thorns 🫡
I want to do that just to see the look on my opponent's face...
