I enjoy your video's. What it does for me is help reinforce the things that I feel I do well, and brunch up on the things I overlook. I also like the fact that you don't say it's your way or it's wrong. It is your prospective and you explain why you chose that way over another so I don't feel so bad when I realize there is a better way to do things other then the way I was doing it. Really gives me more opportunities and options to set a hook.
Why do I wish this guy as my dad and took me fishing??? He seems very knowledgeable about fishing! I would love to actually meet him and gain some wisdom, knowledge and have a great time on the water! Thank you for the video and if you’re ever looking for a daughter/another daughter(if you already have daughters) I’m here and Father’s Day is right around the corner lol
Ha! I have a daughter in boot camp and a step daughter that just turned 18. Neither of them are interested in fishing. I would love to take you. Where are you located? Does your dad also fish? Let’s all go
Chad, The biggest reason why I mainly fish a casting rod over a spinning set up is easy of use while I'm paddling. Having the paddle in one had and the rod in the other is more efficient when in the Yak.I never used the term #FlickandStick but I do it all the time. Always useful content definitely greatly appreciated.
I have always been intimidated by casting rods. I have been a rec fisherman for 40+ years. I appreciate the information and helping me become a better angler.. more than anything.. for just getting folks excited about getting out on the water. My teenage boys and me are taking our first kayak bass fishing trip next month.
Thank-you for the clear explanation. I used spinning all my life, but have been very tempted to go to casting; especially now that I’m ready to upgrade to some higher end gear. Appreciate your time and effort. Cheers!
Great video! I’ve been trying to convince my buddy to try casting setups and this helps for sure! One point I was trying to make that I didn’t hear you mention was the heavier weight class of lures you can throw on a casting setup vs a spinning setup. It takes a much heavier and bulkier spinning setup to throw 2oz+ lures than a casting setup. He wants to throw big swimbaits on spinning gear but I told him he’s gonna kill his wrists doing it 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for pointing that out. I guess I kind of just assumed that was common knowledge, but I will include it in the update to this video that I’m doing soon.
I love the info your putting out there. Many times I’ve been on the water and use what I have learned from your channel. You break it down and really make me think about choices I make on the water. Keep it up!!!
I've really enjoyed the last few instructional videos, you're really able to cover a lot of information in a really concise and useful way. keep it up!
Im a bit late, but yes, more please! I’m new to fishing at age 35 😆. Better late than never! I’ll definitely be checking out more of your videos. Thank you!
Chad Watching both of these videos explain casting vs spinning, very informative, thank you. I have little spinning experience been a closed face reel fisher mainly. More a panfish, carp and catfish but will surely apply this information. You have a new subscriber.
I feel an information overload coming on. Time to start saving these videos for future reference...lol. Keep them coming Chad, thank you for your time and knowledge sir!
I may be a rookie at 50 just getting back into fishing but all I use is spinning never could use a baitcaster but I do have three spinning rods all medium fast action , one with mono one with braid and one with fluorocarbon
Spinning gear is VERY underrated. It forces you to fish baits very differently than you would on a baitcaster and fish baits much slower in general. I kayak fish a lot and my combos are 65% baitcasters and 35% spinning. Another MAJOR tip for spinning gear is use braid as a mainline with a fluorocarbon leader, it’s dynamite for sensitivity.
I appreciate the info Chad. Keep feeding us your knowledge. I need all the help I can get since all I can do right now is bank fish. Hopefully I can get a kayak soon so I can go to the fish and not hope the fish are where I’m at on the bank.
Love the Channel Chad, just purchased my first kayak. I’m in NY and hoping to find some Kayak Fishing events. Quick question the kayak I purchased is a Jonny Boat Bass 100 they are allowed in your events?
I see everyone says braid line its better for surf fishing, especially to cast very very far, But does the lbs of braid line matter 🤔 like if I use 80 lbs braid the cast will be the same if I use 30 or 40 lbs braid line... Sorry for my bad English 🙆♂️
i just started fishing casting rods a few years ago after using spinning all my life, still trying to figure out getting a good cast while in the yak without getting rat's nests every other cast. I got about a 15% angle i can work with while still getting good range and hit where i'm aiming
Makes perfect sense.. I have used a spinning combo my whole fishing career and I am about to buy my first casting combo.... I am from Greenville South Carolina and cadence rod and reels are made in irmo SC which isnt far from me and I want to support a local company and they have good reviews.……. any thoughts?
Right hand vs Left hand reels... im still confuse what to buy because im also confuse where to put my strong arm whether in the rod handle or in the reel handle... this is because im very very very new to this hobby... HELP... thank you so much... im right handed...
Chad I am enjoying these tutorials, I would like to see more tutorials for different types of lures and fishing techniques. Like, how to fish certain types of plastics and different rigs for them. When to fish a spinner vs something else.
Thanks for the info. I have hooked up with a company called Enigma and their rods are awesome. I don't fish casting reels a lot because I get birds nests. Maybe you could do a video on that us new baitcaster people. Have A Great Night
Bass fishing to me is similar to my long love of golfing. For example, one year I would buy a new driver and try a new brand of golf ball and all of a sudden for 2 months I would be on fire. I found a groove. But then it went away and that feel was gone. Time for a new ball! Some people can afford a new driver every six months. Same with fishing. I get in a groove with a particular rod and reel and line set up and almost anything I throw gets hit. As a result, I might carry 3 spinning rods and one casting for 3 months. Then all of a sudden I am carrying 3 casting and one spinning. It’s about the groove / confidence. I am lucky to almost always catch fish but I am versatile and flexible and readily adapt to change.
LOL! Speak it remember it wash speak it remember wash speak it remember wash! :-) I lost count of how many times you said it on each one of them but you're right you have to beat that into your head I know I do. I like this type of video keep it going Chad!
What do you mean by "too fast of an action"? Are you talking about the reel or the rod tip? Can't quite understand how a higher reel speed (ie- 8:1) would affect the cast of a lighter lure...so I guess you're talking rod tip? Bought my first spinning reel on Black Friday. Lol. Been a die hard baitcaster guy for about three years now.
Action is referring to the rod. Reels are rated in gear ratios so they can be fast or slow, but action is referring to the rod and how fast it returns to rest after being “loaded”
I used to fish with my grandpa as a kid, I'm lookin to get get out an fish salmon after 29 years of not fishing, so I guess I'm more so a noob.. that being said, I'm guessing a casting rod would be ideal, right?

this dude probably saved you years of trial and errors, one of the best videos I've watched about fishing rods types comparison
Thank you sir
These are the videos I enjoy the most. Less than 15 minutes with solid instruction and visual demonstration of the technic or tactic.

Thank you sir!! I really appreciate the support
Great video Chad! Your videos are always on point and they're not 30-40 minutes long, which feeds my short attention span.
Loved the casting contact, spinning slick line… Makes is so much easier to understand.
Chad,

Thanks for the comment and support. Much appreciated
Chad, I appreciate the info I am in the market for a rod and reel and gathering info
what is the best size casting rod and spinning rods?
Thanks for the info. I have hooked up with a company called Enigma and their rods are awesome. I don't fish casting reels a lot because I get birds nests. Maybe you could do a video on that us new baitcaster people. Have A Great Night
I just did one the other day called how to avoid and remove birds nests. Check it out.
wish i could get my left arm/wrist to cooperate , right hand has issues , spinning i have a hard time NOT plucking the line
Awesome video!!! Thank you for everything you do.
This is often overlooked! Good video. Two great tools to fish different methods, but both put fish in the boat (kayak) lol
Great info once again chad. Thanks

Just subscribed…. Really learned something today…. Thank you

Love this video, sometimes we think we know more than we do.
Any videos for beginners like myself?
What’s good for a beginner to catch a variety of fish?
LOL! Speak it remember it wash speak it remember wash speak it remember wash! :-) I lost count of how many times you said it on each one of them but you're right you have to beat that into your head I know I do. I like this type of video keep it going Chad!
Thanks brother. 👊🏻
Thanks Chad, very informative, entertaining, and enlightening. Crappie jigging- casting or spinning?
You need to do some tutorials for fishing on the upper Potomac (South Branch)
Will do
Just watched this video, Thanks for the tips!!!
Thanks for watching.
Great video 👍🏻
Keepin it simple.. love it
👊🏻
Learning something new thank you
Great video. I like these types!!
Very simple explanation. Now, if I could only master light lures on the casting rod. I can’t get any distance and my accuracy stinks.
Lol. Action is referring to the rod. Reels are rated in gear ratios so they can be fast or slow, but action is referring to the rod and how fast it returns to rest after being “loaded”
So he's saying too fast of an action rod doesn't cast quite as far? I guess I can understand that.
I used to fish with my grandpa as a kid, I'm lookin to get get out an fish salmon after 29 years of not fishing, so I guess I'm more so a noob.. that being said, I'm guessing a casting rod would be ideal, right?
