    The number one question that I get asked from new anglers or those considering fishing for the first time is "What lure(s) should I start with?" In this video, I do the best that I can to answer that question and explain the logic behind each recommendation.

    I feel like I owe this guy a steak dinner and a cold beverage or two of his choice after watching a few of his vids. He's giving away highly beneficial information suitable for anglers of all experience levels.

    Hey knuckhead. Thanks for broadening my horizon. When I was younger i fished only bass. Then went saltwater and after some injuries went back to freshwater I mostly went to ultralight/flyrod fishing from banks. Now looking at KBF and fishing out of kayaks and bass fishing. Thanks

    For beginners it would be great if you could pop a picture of each lure as you speak about it. No clue between a soft bait and a a jig, etc

    Great advice. I would add a frog for top water because of it's versatility and it rarely gets hung up. Thanks for all your input. I often find if I get away from the basics I catch fewer fish. Slow down and don't overthink it. Just have fun and keep learning.

      @Stoney Lonsome No treble hooks, fish it anywhere and easy to learn how to use. Get that blowup the first time and a beginner is hook on fishing.

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  4 года назад

      Mike Mason I agree, but this was more of a beginner video. Frogs can be frustrating for beginners and are really going to be covered more in-depth in a frog specific video.

    I fish on Barren River Lake mostly, and I have never had much confidence in jigs, even though they are most people’s “go to” baits. I just need to tie a couple on, and take nothing else for a day to get more use to it. Thanks for the suggestions!

    Great advice Chad. I'm pretty much a beginner and get confused as what to use. I haven't built confidence in any bait yet. Caught a few on Texas rigged worms here and there but not enough to have complete confidence. thanks for this video.

    Great Video! I would only add as a new angler, you use terms regarding gear that is Greek to me. Perhaps have links to all the gear you mentioned in the comments. The concept of this video is superb. The execution is lacking because of assumed definitions and no links to visual aids and gear.

    Awesome video Chad. Very informative. I would like to ask with the different types of kayaks and colors of kayaks. Does the color of your kayak make a difference to fish? We always look at lure colors but what about our kayak color. Thanks again for the great information you’re putting out. God bless.

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  4 года назад +1

      Michael Nixon I personally don’t really think it does overall. That said, I prefer darker colors that don’t reflect as much light because the blind me under my glasses and they also reflect light more and I think that could cause issues for spooking fish. That said, I have caught Monsters in a lime green kayak... LOL

      Thank you for the info. A buddy had asked me that I really didn’t know how to answer him. I felt like it wouldn’t be much of an issue but with not having much experience in a kayak yet I figured it was better to ask someone with a multitude of experience. Again love the channel and all the family involved and informative videos you are putting out. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season. Stay safe in your travels and god bless.

    Kinda disappointed poppers weren't mentioned in the topwater baits, they're so easy to fish and probably one of my favorites until the whopper ploppers were scaled down for bass.

    I've seen a "million" fishing video's. I've decided to standardize on yours because you are very knowledgeable, down to earth and don't seem to have a fiduciary interest in promoting specific brands of tackle.
