The "too thin" issue is real. I left a full time executive corporate position, and thought I would have all this free time...flash forward to 4 years later...I work every day of the week on my reselling business and have taken on a part-time job as well. I work MUCH more now than I ever did before. I think this comes from a place of guilt. The need to feel that I am continuing to contribute to my family income and that I am still a "hard worker" is always hanging over me. This is my thing that I need to work on for 2023. I really need to give myself some grace and acknowledge that I still have value, sans my high paying corporate career (that had begun to suck my will to get up every day, BTW). Thanks for being vulnerable in this video and thereby giving all of us the permission to own our own stuff.

Your videos are always such a blessing! I'm a part time resellers, supplementing my retirement income. I try to keep my hours spent on the business fairly low - I retired because spending all that time working was HORRIBLE - but then I feel like I'm not doing enough to make the business a success. Your videos remind me of what's important AND that there is absolutely NO reason to feel guilty about anything! I am selling more than I ever thought that I would and having some financial flexibility because of it. You are a jewel - take care of yourself!

This was so so so very helpful. I have been in all of these situations and I am so glad to know it’s ok and normal. I’m also a teacher who left full-time teaching in June 2021. It’s been incredibly hard and most days I miss the structure of my classroom. I taught for 20 years and I cried last Spring when I watched the video where you shared your thoughts about leaving the classroom. I’m glad you stayed and removed things from your plate rather than removing yourself completely. I enjoy reselling. It’s fun, but I miss my kids and really think I’ll go back next Fall. Subbing hasn’t helped me either. Thank you for being authentic and sharing your journey!

Becky, I haven't commented much on your channel but have watched you for years. I have noticed a change in you over the last few months and for the better I might add😊 You are letting go of the rat race and figuring out what is important. I am old enough to be your Mom and my best advice as a reseller is to block out all the noise and do what feels right for YOUR business. I watch countless reselling videos and have learned a lot but still only do what works for me. Example are, I only sell on one platform, I don't promote my listings, I don't accept returns, I could go on and on. My sales are great regardless of all the "noise". BUT I do check Sell Through Rate. Don't just check comps but also STR. I don't care if it sells for 5,10,or 100 profit if it flips quick I'm happy. It has been a game changer for my business. Ps-You definitely don't suck.😊

@Colleen Rotondo thanks for your wise words. May I ask you something, please? I sold. Frye distresses mini crossbody studded bag. Great interior condition (no pics to back it up) but many images of the exterior which is temporarily dented (meaning from sitting empty) but it was captured in images. Buyer sends an offer today. I accept at 1; she paid at 3 pm. I shipped it out earlier today at 6.34 and 6.48 she messages me to cancel Bc it's not big enough for her phone. My return policy is NO RETURN. I called EBay and they said to wait and see and that they are neutral. What do you think I should do? Which way will EBay sway? Usually customer will make up stuff if they change their mind and I am afraid she will say the bag is too distressed which it's not at all :((

Thank you again for this video! The topic has been on my mind for a couple of days and the way I suck as a reseller I keep forgetting to list my items after I purchase them!! As a seller I’m supposed to not just purchase the inventory but log the inventory with the date amount that was paid where it was purchased what I’m selling it for platforms and where it’s placed🤦🏾‍♀️
I have several journals lying around with my logging attempts randomly listed.. last year my daughter gave me a lap top chrome notebook for Christmas and I promised myself I would down load a spread sheet to keep track of my inventory and sales that hasn’t been done yet either. I also work a full time job but I beat myself up because if I had a plan entering inventory and sales should take just a few minutes to do. In my head it sounds logical!
Thanks for letting me vent… oh… don’t get me started on keeping track of the taxes🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

Hola Becky, I'm not one to give my thoughts very often however and funny enough you came to mind some time this week as I was speaking with my son. I believe it was earlier this year; A video you had put out giving updates on gardening, your planned vacay, an unboxing well it was a lot of different things. My first thought, she looks tired, 2nd thought how does she do it all(that was me) and third I hope she is taking care of herself. I was raised with a mom that idling was not an option. I worked until my body just gave out. I learned to slow down the hard way...I was diagnosed with 3 autoimmune diseases...I was forced to analyse everything. Instead of trying to tackle everything all at once and do everything else people came to expect, I designate each day with certain tasks(Sundays, I list things I like to accomplish for that week with room that not everything will get done). First, I prioritize as you're doing, this of course lead to my digging deeper in my faith. I decided a few years ago to keep the Sabbath. I really thought about it...God said you have 6 days to work, keep the 7th day for rest. Rest huh, what a foreign concept I thought. 💡 came on...I did just that. I let those in my life know, eliminated things that just were too much, to include people that were energy vampires, I started to say no, gave no explanation, no excuses and really set that day out to ensure I rested, was in my faith and do service to others on a need only basis to not spread my self too thin. Today my body knows it's time to rest. It has eased my mental stress especially the guilty one of not working. There are still times I think I should be doing something, I have 20 minutes then I say to myself girrrrl sit your happy behind down and sip a tea. Be intentional as we get older our bodies truly change and we must readjust or lose it.
As for inventory, I use a method I learned when I worked at Sears. It was open boxes and each box held a certain amount of packages. Each package was labeled A101, A102, A103 etc through however many boxes it fit in the designated area (it was a huge stockroom). Then the next area B101 and so forth. At that time we wrote everything on a legal size pad then somebody would type it. Today, thank God for laptops and excel. We never lost an item(we would keep up with the sales, returns and damages) and when it was time for the yearly inventory it was easy. I have seen a lot of videos on inventory, only one I liked was from lavender clothesline except I don't use bins, I use open boxes, digging to try and find items overwhelms me. All cats are black at night...without the labeling, I couldn't tell one pair of black slacks from the next or for that matter any item that looked similar. I also set a timer on doing tasks...I do in 20 minute increments working fast then take 5 minutes to just breathe and do another 20 minutes. Drink plenty of water...women suffer from dehydration much more than men as many of us are just doing, doing, doing and not taking care of ourselves. I hope this helps. Truly appreciate your videos, time and effort it takes. Important, please take good care of you to be a better you for your loved ones, for yourself and those that care. It is truly okay to slow down, settle down and just chill, you will feel so much better and actually be more productive. One moment at a time, one day at a time, one we week at a time. It will be fine🙏❤

Becky! :) As a long-time watcher & admirer, I think this video would make a FABULOUS series! Keep it going! This just scratches the surface of how we all in our own ways are sucking as resellers, lol, or better put though less YT sexy ;) lol,-re-orienting & strategizing ways to be better resellers after learning from our mistakes AND also, asking the question; Why do we keep doing the same things hoping it'll turn out differently? As that is the pop culture definition of insanity! lol. So many categories of reselling bring challenges, like paying up too much (me with RA) or not listing consistently (me, even though it's due to legit reasons such as my health challenges that pop up & the daily management of my elderly Mom & Dad with either direct caregiving or calling docs, paying bills, etc., over the last year we've not gone one month without at least one of them in the hospital), so there's SO much fertile soil with this one. Chris from Daily Refinement has a great channel BUT he often makes declarations as if everyone is the same & that everyone can do what he or Tech does & that's just not accurate or fair. We all have to do our best & believe me if I was 25 years younger (I'm 53) and went back in time when my folks were not as ill, when I still had health issues but had youth on my side, my reselling would be taking off!
We can't just try to fit everyone in these boxes as if we're the same, even as individuals we change over time so thank you again for a great video. Only complaint? I wish it was longer!! :) I adore you & learn so much from you :)

As watched this video, I was looking for a set of headphones. I am very organized. I do paperwork. I do audit reports and loss control reports. Mistakes & misplacements do happen once in awhile especially if you are busy, get distracted or pulled in another direction. You set something down in an obscure area and forget to go back to it until you need it, or sold it. We are independent small business owners. We work solo. Returns and problematic customers, and customer satisfaction issues should be considered and addressed in your yearly business plan. Make policies in advance. Review those policies every 6 months. Yes Becky we all suck as resellers. Why? We work very hard and forget to take time off. It's like playing a musical instrument. You hear a song that you love, and want to play it exactly the same as the artist. While learning that song, you just cant get that weird chord change down. You work on it for hours, get frustrated, and realize you have to step away. When you step away take a day off, then come back to it, you get it down in no time flat (No Pun Intended). Why? It's like working 60 -80 hours at your job, you get tired, you slow down, and need a rest to refresh, and that is something you don't see or feel yourself. It takes someone else to observe you, inform you and convince you to rest.

I've had to cancel numerous sales due to the buyers either not paying (eBay) or getting buyer's remorse and asking for the sale to be cancelled. As long as I haven't packaged it up and printed out the postage, I'm willing to do that. But, it still sucks. Wish people would think about that before they buy something then say, "Oops, never mind."

Inventory check from a professional organizer- Focus on physical items. Pick up an item and check that list perfectly is accurate and mark in some way so when you're done you will hopefully see everything on list perfectly list is checked off. It all starts with holding the item in your hand because that's the inventory check.
The landfill myth might help you donate items. Almost everything gets recycled. You can look into it. But yah, textiles not going to the dump.
My 2 cents. Don't focus on $. Get it sold asap. Sell through. Not asp. $20 profit but it takes a year to sell?
Do your returns every time you list. If that's daily, do returns daily. Like brushing your teeth. We just do it. Don't make it optional.
Stillness takes practice. Your worth isn't what you do. It's who you are.

My favorite reseller! The only thing I would say as a “piece of advice” is the cross listing. I know you have the occasional sale on kidizen, depop, tradesy, mercari, and fbmp, but even with the ease of your crosslisting software, is it worth it? It seems like if you stuck to 2 or 3 platforms it would be so much easier to keep track of your items. I only do eBay and posh and as soon (literally as soon as I see the email) as I sell the item on one platform, I delete it on the other. You just have to wonder if the ROI of being on all of the sites is worth it.

The last time I was organized is when I had everything on a hanging rack! I’ve got stuff in boxes now because if hurricane Ian do things are mixed up! I’ve been labeling boxes by category this week! I don’t want huge inventory so I probably would delist and relist completely old items! Me too, I hate to sell for $5 to $10 but when I list they sell, just time consuming for the return! Right now I’m not buying and it’s been 5 weeks while working though my death pile! The economy is bad right now so not wise to buy too much!

Been watching for a while now. I believe everyone has some of these issues or we all suck at something. Appreciate your honesty. You should do a physical inventory count. In warehouse with thousands of Skus/items you would have a physical inventory to update anything you currently have on file. I will be doing this myself. Its currently organized in stuff and piles with a sku but its really just organized to me but no one else. In manufacturing everyone needs to find it and quickly so kinda keep that in mind. The returns go to the top of my sourcing piles they are easy and fast to relist. Sometimes its better to take a step back or start over. You may have seen other re-sellers talking about starting over. Less can be better with a higher and faster return. I am trying to beat this into my own head. I just sold a high ticket electronic item to a re-seller. I noticed he only has 79 things listed. He has thousands of great reviews tho. I can see he is selling a bit over 400 items a month. Ya know he is doing something right. Again appreciate the honesty.

I hope you’re not offended by my question but I really just want to know.
If you use LP and once you mark the item as Sold it deletes the listings from the other platforms why do you have to cancel so many orders?

I do the same exact thing with not deleting items and they resell and I have to cancel and I also have like 3 things that were returned that have still been in the box for months lol 😩

I have learned so much. I was getting ready to ask you if you had a video on inventory and how you keep records for your sales. I’m a newby. I haven’t listed anything yet. Just learning. Still think you are the best. Hang in there. 👍

First, I just want to say Thank you for being transparent. It takes humility to admit our shortcoming, especially in public spaces. I too am a part-time reseller with a full time job as a School Nurse. My husband also had been telling me that reselling has been taking my devotion lately. Of course I denied 😒 but I knew he was right. My kids are older but my youngest child who is 16 years old daughter needs my attention more than ever. Time goes by so fast and I don't want to take advantage of this gift that had been granted. Thank you for being inspirational and sharing your thoughts with us. Take care and good luck with everything 💕!

yes - THIS RIGHT HERE. Those who love us will tell us what we need to hear, even when it's hard. I'm glad your husband was able to share honestly with you, but even more than that, I'm glad you were able to take his words at face value. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thank you for sharing your vulnerabilities, as it isn’t perfect for any of us, but you encourage so many resellers. Sometimes it’s videos like these that keep us going. You’re a wonderful person with a huge heart. Happy Thanksgiving to you & your loved ones 🦃

I suck as a reseller as well!! Lol you crack me up!! I agree 100% we all have things we need to improve on! My problem is I’m retired and need to be more accountable for my time! It is taking too long to list because I must think I have all day?? I do watch my 2 year old grandson 3 days a week from 6 am-4 pm. But other than that I’m pretty much free!! So I guess I suck the opposite way. How do I light a fire under my behind and list, list, list! Any ideas from anyone??? My eBay store has been selling a good bit so I think I’m ok with titles and inventory! I just need ideas to help me stay focused. Anybody???

I wish I had the answer, I have the same problem! The only thing that even sort of helps me is to make rules about how many listings I must do before I can go source… though I break those rules faaaaar too often!!

@@amyfrey2501 yes that’s a good one!! But I have so much inventory that I could probably list for 2 years and still not be done. So I’m trying to NOT buy at all for awhile. I may have a garage sale this next spring. I need to hold myself accountable to at least 10 listings! Did you ever try that approach? Try to make yourself accountable to how many you want to list a day. I had a friend recommend getting the things I wanted to list out the night before. First thing in the morning start and no RUclips or SOURCING until the 10 are done! I think I’m going to try that again. It’s a great idea!! How about that??? @amyfrey2501???

My inventory i think is in a little better shape than it sounds like yours might be lol! I LOVE the idea of no youtube/insta/etc. prior to listing, i may have to find a version of that for myself! I have a full-time ‘regular’ job and two little kiddos, so I have to fit things in when it makes sense, and things that are SUCH black holes of wasting time would be a great way to motivate myself AND save time overall!

Thats hard, especially when you have so much inventory. Personally, I think making a schedule, like you’re at work, helps. Photography from 9-10. Listing from 10-11. Etc. It’s not so much about the number of items you list but the amount do time spent doing it. I hope that helps!

During breaks I always dive head first into reselling. During the school week, I usually just let it ride. Not sure that's the best advice for a business mindset, but it works for me.
