    So I’m massively ADHD and I get overwhelmed extremely easily!! I went and bought bins!! I put everything into bins (10 bins 🤦‍♀️) which I will use for storing inventory anyway… and I pull one bin a week. I made a pact with myself not to go sourcing until I get through my 10 bins!! I’m 5 down and going strong!

    Something I started doing is when I’m listing, I will list something new that I’m excited about, paired with a deathpile item that I’m perhaps not too excited about. It really helps to balance it out. ☺️ my goal in 2023 is to get totally caught up on mine and from there on never get more than 20 -40 items in standby moving forward.

      Great suggestion Katie! It resonates with me because it echoes one of the rules of organizing that I share with my clients, which is: one in, one out. I.e., if you suffer with too much stuff, if you buy something new, you have to part with something similar. The discipline of your one new, one old rule really appeals to me, as a part time reseller!!

      I have been doing this as well. When I first started reselling I was purchasing Willy Nilly. Anything I found cheap and knew I could make money from, I’d buy it. This was before I realized I’m the type of reseller that needs to be excited about the item to want to put the work in. So now I know to be more selective but still have a lot of items with a lot of value! Something else I’ve just recently kicked into gear is selling my own personal items that I never go for. I’m keeping track and when that stuff sells I get to purchase something personal that I need. Like new shoes etc!

    Had some family visit at Christmas which made me move my money pile. I boxed them up, labeled them and placed them in our garage. I had already started a "No Buy" time period until I get my money pile down to 1-2 bins, and think that keeping 1-2 is doable for times I can't get out to source, but will keep me busy. In the last few days, I've had people GIVE me items to sell, so now I have 2 trash bags full of items...of which I'm extremely thankful, but wowsa, I wish I has this all under control already so I could get busy listing them! LOL
    Bonus: Since I've purchased some of my inventory, I've lost enough weight that I've gone down 2 sizes! Now I'm purusing my money pile as I list and pre-shopping from it! Win for me!! Don't have to go out to get new clothes! HAHA! Blessings to all as you reduce your MONEY PILE!! ~Wendy

    Hi Becky Park! I have a great idea for you and fellow reseller RUclips creators, use a gopro to show your listing routines, shipping routines, etc. It would be a phenomenal teaching tool as we would see first hand exactly how y'all do it! Atleast that's what I Wana see, we can listen all day but if we could see it in action that would be the best teaching tool!

    I have been going through my death pile but cannot stop buying and frankly I feel my death pile is more than overwhelming , I like the idea of separating what to do with things that don’t excite me anymore and I have to admit I have never taken anything to a consignment store but it is probably a good way to get rid of things that don’t excite me anymore. I have to admit this scares me but also very rewarding.

    I have an insanely large death pile that I’m trying to chip away at. One thing I did was collect it all into one area so that as I make progress and add things to my listed inventory, I have a visual way to track my progress. I also organized my unlisted inventory by season so that I could prioritize the items that buyers are more likely to be looking for. I’m nearly done with my winter inventory (yay!) and will be ready to start listing for spring/summer by the end of February.

    • @HereatJodstas
      @HereatJodstas 15 дней назад

      I’m in Australia and have started doing international shipping. I’ve been selling lots overseas so just remember to list regardless of season as it’s summer in the USA but freezing winter here in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 atm. This is what I learnt from Technsports. The USA have so many good items we don’t get here so think about opening up your sales to international. I’ve just selected the USA Cananda and New Zealand as I’ve figured out what the postage rates with the satchels we have in Australia and weight limits (my brain works in Tetris). I have got heaps of buyers from Norway too. Great way to get rid of your deathpile by selling more too. Just because someone gives you something for free doesn’t mean you have to take it. Start practicing thank you for thinking of me at the moment I’m at capacity and don’t have space to put this. Next time you have something please don’t hesitate to ask me appreciate you thinking of me. That’s my challenge to myself. ❤ Jodie Here at Jodstas

    Love it! Something that helps motivate me is to move from loose piles to putting everything in bins, separating the items into things that go together, like dresses that will only look good on a mannequin, pants that can just be on a hanger, shoes, etc. It instantly makes me feel like it's much more do-able and gives me a sense of accomplishment, even if it's just moving things around a bit.

    My problem is that my death pile is generally consistent of items that I know will be difficult / stressful to list. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I'm paranoid that if I list something and don't note every small flaw that I'll get an angry customer wanting a return 😭

    • @amandawilcox9664
      @amandawilcox9664 Год назад +3

      That's totally my issue too! Items that need work or items that are going to be bulky to list wind up getting set aside for later, and later and later. And finally get listed after like 6 months.

    • @HereatJodstas
      @HereatJodstas 15 дней назад

      I’ve got such a big deathpile working out the math would be too crazy. Lately on my friend Jon the resellers discord group we discussed if it’s better to have listed something not perfect or waiting to list a perfect listing. Watching technsports I said what he says you can’t sell it if it’s not listed. I don’t pick up items that need to be a project this might help in the future. Make the project your project give yourself a deadline if it’s not gone by a certain time donate or bin it. To reduce my deathpile is to go through my items not selling and donating them so I have space to put new listings which is an issue if you list too much. I’ve gotten better at taking photos. Look at other listings and make sure you put everything you’ve noticed in the comments. Some items with issues buyers are willing to fix themselves and it’s their project now not yours. Good luck everyone I’m working on getting into my laundry where one of my deathpiles live.

    Congrats on the new house! Tips for unlisted death pile: I hang everything up on the rack. I take 15 minutes or so and take one shot of each item thru PM app so that it starts a draft. I draft about 20 and then go and measure each... then photograph each, etc. Batch work!

    • @tatianahemrich6789

      Batch work always helps me! I fill up a rack and steam all the items, then I try to list at least 5 similar items at a time. So 5 pairs of shoes, 5 purses, 5 pairs of jeans. When I'm in a groove listing a certain type of item it goes a lot faster for me!

    I’m a new subscriber. This video has come at just the right time for me! I have a giant Death Pile and not enough space to work in. Thanks to you, I’ll start with a basic rough count tomorrow and then make a plan. My biggest problems are items that I bought outside of my niche, that could be profitable but just seem too hard to list or too difficult to post. Also items that need cleaning or repairs.

    I’m watching this because I’ve learned a lot from you and this is your next video. Not because of some sort of huge ‘death pile’. Not everyone has that to manage. I’m also doing this on the side and my resell inventory is mostly from my household. Selling is a way to recoup some of that original cost of household decor and clothes. But goodness it’s hard to pass by items I can flip for a profit, lol! My unlisted items always fit in two laundry baskets. I’m here to learn, not to be generalized with hoarder resellers or those that deal with a regular larger amount of inventory. My current 746 listed inventory is contained to a large hall closet, mostly small ship able items. If I were to expand I’d have to get an off site location for inventory storage. It’s a blessing to have a whole room and or basement to be able to scale the way you and so many other resellers have. Many sales to you.

    My issue is that I have items that were donated to me but brands that are are unknown to me. The research is the tedious time consuming part. But taking pictures of several pieces then researching might be the best way to go. I have found spots on some of it and then get distracted to clean them before moving on to the next item. My goal is to make some changes and just get through it.

    I’m sooo late😂 just watched this video so signed up today in hopes of finding some helpful resources for motivation. I’m so excited to see the listing calendar for the year, that will help me out a lot! I’m too late for the challenge but going to join the FB group for accountability! Thanks Becky!

    The hardest part of tackling my death pile are definitely the problem items. Certain items get set aside because they have some sort of issue. Maybe it's a stack of purses that all need the interior's cleaned, or shoes that I need to take a magic eraser to, or maybe it's a bunch of sweaters that I need to sweater shave, or electronics that need to be tested or just items that are bulky and a pain to list or ship... Those items always wind up getting pushed aside and if I just made myself do the work I could get them listed. I have like 12 great purses that need interiors cleaned and I keep putting it off.

    Last year my husband talked about getting a new job, which would have meant moving. We didn't know when that would be, but I didn't want to be overwhelmed when it did happen, so I focused on my already listed inventory first. I was running sales, relisting, taking better pictures, and purging before focusing on the death pile. Of course after four months of this, my husband changed his mind. 😫😂

    I look at it and it all seems "boring". I feel like it's not going to being any money in, but I spent money on it so I don't want to give it back to the goodwill. I have an entire garage full of stuff and I'm super overwhelmed

    Sadly new purchases I actually get listed and usually more valuable. Agree need to stop looking the probably I ran into was during yardsale season I got so much for next to nothing and now profit of only 8-10 item seem less worth it. Ive tried to 1st step take out trash items 2nd separate by season what needs to get out now (with only so many listings a day) and 3 get in valuable items. I can get in 15-20 daily but stuff being all over the place in piles get overwhelming. Also trying to list similar items same time speed things up like put all my jeans together.

    I had a thriftless Jan. I have been using a bins sorting method for donation ect. This month has made me acutely aware of the importance of choosing sellable items when thrifting. Thanks for putting this in managable bites. Now to get listing.

      For me, I have a basic layout for every item. I don’t tell a story, I lay out the facts almost like bullet points. It’s like describing the item to someone who can’t see it.
      -blue in color
      -long sleeves
      -v-neck
      Etc., etc., etc.

    • @TheCozyShire
      @TheCozyShire Год назад +1

      I think a lot of people use the term “death pile” to describe items that have flaws or they aren’t particularly interested in listing. I tend to call mine more of a “money pile” because I have the motivation, I just lack the time and keep chipping away at it.

    2) Stop sourcing
    3) Set listing goals
    4) Schedule time
    5) Accountability

    I have (21) 27-gallon totes of curated clothing and I call it my profit piles Lol. Try to change your mindset first and it will be more enjoyable. A death pile sounds like stuff you know you aren't going to profit on so why list it? That's where the depression creeps in, when you realize the items really aren't worth the time or effort and that's why you aren't excited about listing. Gotta get better product and be happy to sell it to someone.
