    When hospital patients go under anesthesia, their body temperature can drop to dangerous levels. Because of this, warming blankets and heating devices are necessities in hospitals all over the world. But according to scientific studies, a popular brand of warming device known as The Bair Hugger is actually causing deadly infections to spread to patients. The Bair Hugger story is one that few people know about, but it’s one that best describes the culture of greed and complete disregard for safety that corporations embrace. America's Lawyer host Mike Papantonio discusses this with attorney Daniel Nigh.

    The unit does not deliver MOIST warm air as there is no humidity added to the unit anywhere. I'm guessing user error is at fault here and not the device itself.

    • @battlebear7214
      @battlebear7214 7 лет назад +6

      Bling 'N Paper That is exactly what I was thinking as well. Not only should the device not blow moist air, but any properly sterilized surgical room should not have life-threatening bacteria in large enough numbers to cause an infection. This sounds like malpractice or just plain ignorance to the operation of the device.

    • @lutherbaker7097
      @lutherbaker7097 7 лет назад +1

      Sounds like an informed statement. The device doesn't add any moisture, in fact the air is very dry. This is a moronic video, and I am shamed that they put it up at all. For shame TYT, for shame.

      +Luther Baker This guy in the video is a shady lawyer who pays TYT to host his videos. The first and only link in the description is to this guy's website. He is an ambulance chasing lawyer who is always looking for a lawsuit.

      I have zero affiliation with 3M, I'm a nurse and I work in an SICU (SURGICAL ICU). We use these daily, and they help save lives. We also use blankets from blanket warmers, if you want to go after blanket companies.

    Ignoring what scientific data?
    You didn't present any scientific data in this video, all you presented was that a statistically insignificant number of people have filed lawsuits.
    Filing lawsuits isn't scientific data.
    Any idea how many lawsuits have been filed by people claiming vaccines have caused all kinds of issues like autism in kids?
    The claim doesn't gain merit just because someone files a lawsuit.

      The doctor that invented it even says it should no longer be used. Whether or not he's trying to do right or make more money with his newer product which he claims is safer remains to be seen. The nytimes and star tribune have articles covering it. Sounds to me that no one wants to properly investigate it as it would mean costing the current owner of the product billions.

    Are wards not kept warm in America? (From the UK where wards are kept around 20°c/ 68°f; as it reduses shock, and speeds surgery recovery.)

      It's not that, it's that anesthesia lowers the BMR to the point that hypothermia becomes an issue. Plus the stainless steel table they are on is COLD, and the are naked.

    I saw this guy do another video on TYT about surgical mesh used in hernia repairs. Then sometime later on TV, I saw a company doing a class action against the company making the mesh. Although I don't think it was this guy's firm... coincidence? No. These advertisements are no so cleverly disguised as news clips.
    I get it, TYT needs revenue to do whatever it is they do... but this just feels slimy

  • @Kenshin0011

    This ambulance chaser needs to be removed from the TYT network.
    You know what's dangerous? Surgery in and of itself, cutting upon people's bodies and snipping, cauterizing, and removing pieces....but that's why we have trained professionals who perform these procedures, and use necessary equipment, to the best of their abilities.

    • @Kenshin0011

    I don't understand why they post these videos. What they are bitching about is easily prevented with proper cleaning of surgical rooms and equipment. The most I've had to deal with was a doctor that had a bad habit of sticking sharps into the bedding to keep them from getting lost so to keep count when going to throw them away. She forgot we were using a water circulating heater and it started leaking. We had to turn it off and switch it out real quick.

    I apologize for my placement of this comment in an inappropriate place. It has nothing to do with the video. But I believe placing this in a current video is my best chance of being heard about what I perceive as a serious flaw with Cenk's outlook. I want to address an example of this flaw which I just saw in a video from October 6, 2014. Cenk's is demonstrated within it. It was his take on Maher's response to Affleck on the beliefs of the "billion Muslims racist thing". Maher absolutely did not say all billion hold those pernicious beliefs! He said, in effect, it is not true that none of the billion hold those beliefs!!!!! HIS EXACT WORDS: "A billion people you say, all these billion people don't hold any of these [he is interrupted here] don't hold (any of) these pernicious beliefs?" When he continued after the interruption he mistakenly left out the "any of". Cenk has misunderstood things like this time after time. THE FLAW: He may have quit Islam, but again and again he has turned rabid and irrational in it's defense. He needs a some honest introspection as to the strong hold Islam still has on him.

      Prelude Cruz wow what an ignorant comment.

    • @vickymc9695
      @vickymc9695 7 лет назад +2

      Prelude Cruz there is kind of. In the UK nurses swob patients bodies once a day and send it for testing; so they can spot infection quickly and treat it. All medical equipment is either single use, or surface cleaned when someone used it, this is done by who used on it the patent. All surface in a ward are cleaned once a day, by the cleaner if nothing has gotten messy. If they have, then they're cleaned immediately by the nearest staff member.
      Then deep cleaning of all medical equipment that needs to be taken apart happens on a rota, as part of it's maintenance by engineers. This usually happens based on manufacturers guidelines, more frequently if needed.
      That the problem and. So if a manufacturer lies and says that it that it safe to go so without a deep clean, or that outside air can't get into some parts; how are they going to know until people get sick?

    • @merncat3384
      @merncat3384 7 лет назад +1

      Vicky Mc if only America's hospitals were kept half as clean, many infections would be prevented.. the things I've seen left around, mishandled, neglected, etc.. is disgusting, hospital staff doesn't seem to care until something bad happens :(

    • @JakeLikesJoking

      If true, this doesn't surprise me at all. All if not most large companies do not give a shit about people/their consumers. They only care about profit. That's been made obvious time and time again, and it's naive of us to expect otherwise. Large companies have only one goal in mind: make money, often times at whatever the cost.

    • @lutherbaker7097
      @lutherbaker7097 7 лет назад

      No, the air isn't NEARLY cold enough to kill bacteria. If it was, it would kill people too.

      Luna, You are correct!! There is a cryo treatment that kills the cancer cells! I love informed folk, you rock for knowing more than most. The catch is that the rooms would have to be as cold as the cryo, which is basically frozen nitrogen levels of coldness. This same cryo treatment not only kills the cancerous cells, but also some tissue around it, so they have to take care not to kill the organ and tissue surrounding the cancerous lesions. To get a room that cold would kill anyone trying to hang out, for any length of time.
