Gordon was and is my #1 hero musician/composer. 50 years of being in my world was not enough. Such a beautiful man/soul and kind. At least I got to many of his concerts….Thanks to my husband! Of course I had to marry Gordon fan…and thankfully, I still have my husband. 47 years this coming May 28, 2023. I only wish we all didnt have to lose our Gordon.😢
Gordon Lightfoot died May 1, 2023 at the age of 84. His final album will be released on July 14. His last performance was on October 31, 2022 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He spent countless time autographing for people and took great care tuning his guitar. He received many well deserved standing ovations during his performance. When he talked, everyone listen intently. Canada has lost a little bit of itself said one of the fans present at that performance. I believe she is right! God bless everyone! ❤🇨🇦
God bless you too, Linda. I had the honor of seeing Gordon in approximately 2015, in a medium-small auditorium setting. His physical capacity was pretty diminished at that point, but there was a certain reverence for him amongst the audience members, and it was a beautiful event. I'm really glad I got to go.
I've never seen Gordo play this guitar usually he's playing his Martin d-18 are is Gibson 12-string. I loved Gordons music for a long time.😊 But a Bible scripture came to me in the book of 1st Peter 1:24 All flesh is as grass and all the glory of man isas the flower of grass. the grass withereth and the flower falleth away but the word of the Lord endureth forever. We are all really here for a short time. May God bless each and everyone
I was in the front row of this concert tour, when he played at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton. The best concert of my life. He played with his band but also came out by himself to play a few songs from East of Midnight including, as I recall, "A Passing Ship" and "I'll Tag Along." Thank you for posting this. It brings back a lot of good memories.
Silver wings of summer Lift the minstrel high Carry him to paradise where laughing angels fly Softly blow you northern winds Draw him to your breast High up to the mountain peaks where the wild eagles nest Lay him down in clover Soft as eider down Gentle winds make roses bloom where tender love is found Faith complete the journey Where love will never end What a tail his thought could tell where love will make amends By the winding river A single tear drops falls Somewhere in the mountains the lonely puma calls
Delightful, simple song, and that perfectly regular guitar jingle, so catchy. It took me a lot of repetition to get that right, and now I can do it, all I need is Gordon Lightfoot's unique voice! Ah well, at least I'm trying. Gordon you are just the greatest troubadour.
So many times I listened to Gordon Lightfoot's LP's and always he was my main inspiration. Gordon was 9 years older than I. I won't miss him, He is with me as I again listen to Old Dan's records
This is another classic Lightfoot song that tugs at the emotions of love, loss and separation.Add this to "Early morning rain", Song for a winters night","Beautifull",to that list. Dave Yell
Wow,my sister bought my Mom a ticket for Christmas.Pretty awesome.💋❤Mad Maple Syrupppppy Canadian love to you, always.Know every one of your songs cause my Mom played you everyday when we were kids.💋❤
I sure wish we had more live Lightfoot from that era to watch. East of Midnight and Salute are gems. You just have to crank up the volume on East due to spotty engineering for volume when mixed.
There was a great clip of Lightfoot on RUclips with Jeanne Beker on the New Music back around this time, where he played part of I'll Tag Along (one of his best ballads, and best song off East of Midnight, IMHO). I think CBC blocked it because of some copyright infringement, which is laughable, given that the CBC generally has to pay people to watch their shows...
Most people don’t mention it, but Gordon was a great finger picker on the acoustic guitar.
I agree, Timothy. Very steady and consistent.
A unique voice that we will never have again. Thank you Gordon for all the ways you have touched my soul with joy and tears.

A genius using his craft. My god he's good at what he does.
.
A wonderful life sir. RIP
I like this version better than the studio version, his voice sounds more like classic Gord!
He sounds clearer than crystal!
I've always loved this song! Gordon is THE troubadour!
Me and Gordon Lightfoot sang this together at the hotel bar after the Clearwater FL show in 2006. Good times!

LUCKY YOU!
Rest in peace, you man with one of the most wonderful voices.
Silver wings of summer
Lift the minstrel high
Carry him to paradise
where laughing angels fly
Softly blow you northern winds
Draw him to your breast
High up to the mountain peaks
where the wild eagles nest
Lay him down in clover
Soft as eider down
Gentle winds make roses bloom
where tender love is found
Faith complete the journey
Where love will never end
What a tail his thought could tell
where love will make amends
By the winding river
A single tear drops falls
Somewhere in the mountains
the lonely puma calls
So much talent and so humble
Totally agree my friend if you watch his documentary you really see how meek and humble he was about his music

Just beautiful. Impeccable sound of his voice.
Love Gordon Lightfoot.
Ahh.....how totally beautiful.
Great song from a wonderful album. ❤️
Can’t get enough pure enjoyment

So sooo beautiful.
One of his best that's for sure!
Beautiful man!!!❤️❤️
Lightfoot personified Canada in songs. Besides his most obvious hits, his lesser known, like Bitter Green and Pussywillows are gems.
I sure wish we had more live Lightfoot from that era to watch. East of Midnight and Salute are gems. You just have to crank up the volume on East due to spotty engineering for volume when mixed.
Thank Foster
Amazing tune.
I love this song, kind of funny!😘
Totally awesome!
A Legendary Songwriter transcendent over all❤
Beautiful

My son's favourite song, and I like it too.
Yes he does, like older and matured and self confident
Perfection

What was this performance a part of? Absolutely wonderful. (I get a kick out of seeing Rick to Gordon's left 😉)
Unbelievable! Simply the best! Match it or beat it it can’t be done thank you Gordon
June 2023 ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🇨🇦

This looks older then 1987. He had shorter hair and a fuller face.
