If you are having problems with leaking zipper, rub a bees wax or paraffin candle along the length of both zipper ensuring that you get wax in between the zipper teeth. when zipped up the wax forms a water tight seal to dramatically reduce water egress between the tines of the zipper. Mind you an external gussetted zipper protection panel should have been an obvious and automatic inclusion
I would like to see an episode of all your tents out on display somewhere we could pay a small fee to stay in the tents and have a big weekend or so camp out Have a drone flyover and see how many tents you have in one location TOGR tent city madness!
Nice tent. Very similar to my old Black's tent that I've had for what seems like forever. I always do a reproofing of the rainfly every couple of years.
Taking er on my trip , I suck at the trek pole porch mine sway a lot .. but it’s a fun set up love your videos and reviews , that I you for all the info, and for all your time helping newbies like my self , make educated decisions
It uses parts of the Flashlight and Tensegrity and fixes the issues with both. I have a Flashlight 1 that I got for a steal when they stopped making them. I'm thinkin of getting the two man version of this. I would prefer the non FL version tho or at very least a color change to green or something. Neither of which you can get right now. The company is one of the very few innovators in backpacking gear and I like to support what they do. Their backcountry bed sleeping bags are amazing as well. I'll never use a standard mummy again.
like the video, Sierra Designs are certainly innovative and a great price for any camper, that storm made you a great review for the tent, well done, love the honesty , certainly giving people choices based on your experience
I don't think the color is a deal breaker like every one else is feeling. Just going off the bones/structure and design of the tent I would say it is def something really new and cool. I'd take it in pink or purple for all I care. The design and purpose is awesome. Well done review 👍
My friend had this on the Appalachian Trail last year. He never tested it and once we hit the Smokey mountains he said it started leaking like a siv. Since the shelters were all full he just had to deal with it. He ended up having his wife send him a different one in Gatlinburg.
If one wants to change the color of a tent think dyes. Yes dye it, best I found was Feibings Pro leather dyes. They are an oil based pigment in a alcohol suspension. Put into a common spray bottle and put on fine mist, set you tent up and use three different shades of green and brown. They come in small bottles so the expense is minimal and there are no harsh lacquer thinners that break down nylon. Colors I suggest are light brown, Tan and forest green. You can thin them out with rubbing alcohol. The colors don't run like water based dyes tend to.
A more typical type of rain fly would've been a better idea than what the tent comes with. Throughout the video, I had wondered about how that zippered window would prevent rain from entering the tent, and you answered my question. And, if rain can enter the tent, so can icy cold wind.
I love the design... I wish they would make a version with a flap over the zipper or a full fly down both sides. If they did something like that id buy it. Also having 2 person version (or more) would be really cool too
a bigger fly means more weight, a property that this tent is pushing a little bit... I think they should add waterproof zips, I think it's the easiest solution
Yeah, i have the non FL version and even it is lighter. But the DL has much better ventilation and a far better vestibule. Plus the convertible porch is very nice. Never had any rain leakage on mine tho, even in driving rain. And its such a similar design that i wonder if his was a defect issue. Only condensation issues, and that was only with me and the dog in the tent during lots of high humidity and rain. And it wasnt that bad. Any single wall roof would do the same on any other tent.
Honest question...with what you know now, would you feel comfortable taking this tent on a long hike like either the Florida trail of over a thousand miles,, or appalachian trail of over 2 thousand miles??
Did you seamseal before taking it out. I have the Tensegrity and they are sending me this tent as a replacement. I'm trying to figure out how to seamseal in the middle of my thru-hike, or if I can push it off until I hit home in a few weeks.
Are the seams taped on the Divine FL series? I bought a Sierra Designs FL series tent a year ago and because it was in the FL series the seams weren't factory sealed. Just to save weight I guess.
I just bought the Marmot Mantis 3p plus which looks very similar to this tent. Semi freestanding, though the Marmot is bigger and much heavier at 7.5lbs.
This must be the tent you were telling me about! I LIKE! The floor I think should be at least 4 inches. The zippers should have a cover of some type on the outside as an added barrier to driving rain. Because as you know there are times rain will actually go sideways especially in higher elevation areas. It's funny because as I'm typing this comment you hit on everything I stated except the height of the floor surround. HAHA great minds think alike!
Agree it's a cool tent for its innovativeness. Plenty of cross-ventilation and incoming light which are both pluses for me. The canopy is very useful too. As for your question about color, I like the blue, it's a sort of retro ~1950's blue. LOL. Postscript-I looked up the specs and this tent is narrow (30" at the head, 26" at the foot) and it is heavy (68 oz or 4lbs-4oz) which makes it impractical to lug around for daily backpacking on a thru-hike. In your review you said it weighed 3lbs-5ozs so I don't know if you weighed it yourself or if those were on the box or someplace else. (Alot of tent weight info IMO is totally useless or misleading, such as "trail weight.")
Just bought my first tent and it's a KELTY TEMPEST 2 . If you could do a review on it id appreciate it. Have you heard of the tent? So far I like it a lot I RUclipsd it
From a Dutch perspective … looks like a nice bicycle tent. Note: I am Dutch. I (currently) have 5 bicycles and 4 tents. I cycle a lot and walked about a 1,000 miles on the PCT.
Looked at some reviews of the Vango Banshee 200. Among them: ruclips.net/video/99m8eCTYayU/видео.html And based on these reviews for this specific model, looks like a nice bicycle tent too. But I consider it too heavy for backpacking.
Great review, Luke. I have to wonder SDs thinking here, though. It looks like they fused their Tensegrity and Flashlight models, solving the issue of having an enclosed vestibule. But at the same time, their High Route 1 FL is lighter, cheaper, and larger both with interior and vestibule space. I feel like it would be more weatherproof as well!
I was planning to buy this tent for backpacking in the Philippines, but the water passing through the zips is going to be an issue. Thanks for the review
Back in the 70s and 80s the Sierra Club was pushing for neutral colors for Camping Gear. They said the bright colors were an eye sore. What has happen? Did I just miss a whole generation of camping gear and colors that are suppose to blend into the wilderness and not stick out like a sore thumb??
--- I Just picked one up from LeftHandSports.com for $139.00 Deal was to good to pass up. -- One question Do you think maybe spraying some ScotchGard around the zipper area might solve the problem with water coming in the specific spot? Thanks again
I’ve often wondered if lightning has struck tent poles like these. A metal pole, well grounded at the bottom, and pointed at the top is the exact design of a successful lightning rod! Yet, I have never heard of a documented report of a strike on a tent. Maybe one of two possibilities? Either (1) there haven’t been any such strikes. Or (2) there were no survivors left to report it? Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
im seeing it in the fishing industry to there bringing back stuff from a 100 years ago with modern materials witch is not bad thing they dont make things like they use to till now lol. and now there updated
Pretty awesome tent!!! As far as the color that Carolina blue not for me!!! But if it was Duke Blue it would be awesome lol !!! The company could do different colors more options for the costumers to buy!!!!
4 season is usually about handling snow loads. If you arent gonna deal with snow, then you can use most any 3 season tent all year. But yeah, its not gonna hold a snow load at all with that roof. 4 season tents are beefier and therefore much heavier and should only be used when expecting snow issues as you are just carrying lots of extra weight and bulk for no reason otherwise.
Nice tent, reminds me of my old clip flashlight. Hate the color. When are these tent manufacturers going to get it. We like earth tones to blend in with the natural woodland. How about camo, they'd sell a million of them.
Color sucks, as usual. A stealth color should always be offered. I am experimenting with spray painting a cheap tent to get the color I want. So far, so good on that.
I did a 2-color camo thing with common spray paint. Sometimes used the can marked "for plastic" but it didn't seem to make any difference. As I said, cheap tent for experiment-- and now it is REALLY waterproof as I did the outside of the floor also, which had been leaking before the spray. I thought it would flake off, but no so far. One way to get the color you want + waterproofing. I would test it first on a $300 tent, but I just blasted away on my $50 cheapie tent, and now it is one of my favorites as those cheapies can be light.
Interesting how US reviewers have a different perception of the meaning of "strong wind" than we Europeans have in places like the UK or Scandinavia. A tent like this would be a non-starter in our conditions - even for car camping - it would simply get flattened the first time the weather brewed up. Decent value and terrific liveability in the right conditions. But despite the positive thunderstorm experience, please be cautious how you use this thing. Not for exposed above-the-treeline camping, even in the US.
The color is horrible. All their tent color schemes look like something that belongs in a circus. The side zipper leaking was/is a common complaint in their earlier "Flashlight" tent which is very similar. I do like the other improvements they've made over the flashlight, though.
Can't get testing conditions much better than that! Nice job!
If you are having problems with leaking zipper, rub a bees wax or paraffin candle along the length of both zipper ensuring that you get wax in between the zipper teeth. when zipped up the wax forms a water tight seal to dramatically reduce water egress between the tines of the zipper. The lightening storm was in-tents you say
Hehehe I was waiting for that Pal. :D - Luke
Ba-dump-crash
LOL! Good pun. :-)
Pal that splains his hair
Thanx from the left coast near the Krapitol of California
Nice tent. Very similar to my old Black's tent that I've had for what seems like forever. I always do a reproofing of the rainfly every couple of years.
Cool little tent. Love the fresh design idea and like how it lets in a lot of light and air. Thanks for the review!
Cool!
Can't wait to see the full test, looks like she was a wild night 😄
Thanks Luke, I enjoyed the design features of the tent and equally enjoyed your enthusiasm! Peter (Melbourne Australia)
Taking er on my trip , I suck at the trek pole porch mine sway a lot .. but it’s a fun set up love your videos and reviews , that I you for all the info, and for all your time helping newbies like my self , make educated decisions
In regards to that leaking zipper, a simple waterproofing spray will help seal that up for future weather.
Just buy a tent that doesn't leak on the zipper
you should review one of those cot tents they look interesting
I really like how Sierra Designs is looking to get rid of the traditional, awkward vestibule with a more practical awning.
Love the color
Agreed it's a cool tent nut needs more colour options
Basically an upgrade to their Tensegrity model. Interesting design, I have been eyeing it a while.
This tent would be perfect for down the beach
That's sweet looking. Thanks for the review. God bless
good job
Looks great 👍

Amazing video as always my friend 😇

I remember that storm
I like the look of this one..another good review Luke...the awning reminds me of days gone by..taker easy...woods
It looks a bit like the old Baker style Boy Scout tents.
AWESOME !
Great info. Thanks.
I have a kelyy ridge 2, i love it, great it the rain.i was just saying i have not seen you review kelty.enjoy your channel.
Thank You...very informative.
Watched all of it
Thanks enjoyed watching nice review keep up with your great videos and reviews until next time my friend
What do you think of the Nemo Moki 3P single-wall tent?
I love the design... I wish they would make a version with a flap over the zipper or a full fly down both sides. If they did something like that id buy it. Also having 2 person version (or more) would be really cool too
The design of this tent is excellent but there is room for improvement. I agree with you 100%. - Luke
a bigger fly means more weight, a property that this tent is pushing a little bit... I think they should add waterproof zips, I think it's the easiest solution
love my flashlight 1 FL very similar in design but about a pound lighter.

Have you considered doing a review of Helsports Ringstind super light 2?
Did you seamseal before taking it out. I have the Tensegrity and they are sending me this tent as a replacement. I'm trying to figure out how to seamseal in the middle of my thru-hike, or if I can push it off until I hit home in a few weeks.
Since your up on new products have you heard any new about a new Osprey pack coming out in Jan 2018 made out of Cuben fiber?
Modern day Bakers tent with wings ... still good
That front awning could be lowered to create a 2nd vestibule gear area and use the side door? I like it.
Are the seams taped on the Divine FL series?
I bought a Sierra Designs FL series tent a year ago and because it was in the FL series the seams weren't factory sealed. Just to save weight I guess.
The seams on the Divine are indeed taped Morgan. - Luke
Regarding the thunderstorms, that's Florida thunderstorms for sure.
I just bought the Marmot Mantis 3p plus which looks very similar to this tent. Semi freestanding, though the Marmot is bigger and much heavier at 7.5lbs.
May I ask how you attach to your walking poles . I have this tent and my front porch is so wobbly ... any suggestion I have black diamond poles ,
This must be the tent you were telling me about! I LIKE! The floor I think should be at least 4 inches. Looks good for beach camping. Excellent video as usual. Always getting better.

love from Denmark
How is the weather in Denmark Zander? - Luke
Not bad at all 22c and sun :)
From a Dutch perspective … looks like a nice bicycle tent.
Note: I am Dutch. I (currently) have 5 bicycles and 4 tents. I cycle a lot and walked about a 1,000 miles on the PCT.
Vango banshee any day
Looked at some reviews of the Vango Banshee 200. Among them:
ruclips.net/video/99m8eCTYayU/видео.html
And based on these reviews for this specific model, looks like a nice bicycle tent too. But I consider it too heavy for backpacking.
$270 on Amazon...in case someone would like to buy me one.
Cool tent overall! I just can't warm up to that shade of blue!
Will it prevent a night time grizzly mauling if I'm out caribou hunting in alaska? Kidding...
John Ganshow With that color, no bear will go near it!
Hahaha I was going to say the same thing Ronni. - Luke
Great review, Luke. I have to wonder SDs thinking here, though. It looks like they fused their Tensegrity and Flashlight models, solving the issue of having an enclosed vestibule. Where is the test vid?
if you think about it cavas tents have those awnings
Is the glow light thing available seperately? Or something similar?
Owyn Dinsdale I believe he said two or three that it was included
Seperately
its like a reamp of a old canvas tent

How come you have not.tested kelty???
I've been meaning to; what would you like to see from them?
- Luke
Did you hear about the circus? It was in tents
Spendy tent there Luke! Overall, a good review!
I've got something real inexpensive coming up thanks to a viewer who was kind enough to send it in. Review coming soon.
- Luke
Awesome, my friend, awesome - can't wait for the full video on this tent here...!
You need an orange one Luke ;-)
Btw, I wanna know what ya bleeped out when the stake came up LOL
You need to look at a Oztent or a swag from Australia
Or Helsports Fonnfjell?
--- I Just picked one up from LeftHandSports.com for $139.00 Deal was to good to pass up. --
One question Do you think maybe spraying some ScotchGard around the zipper area might solve the problem with water coming in the specific spot? Thanks again
For that price I would rather have a scorpion 3. That lightning looked frightening for sure.
I actually like the blue. It’s not going too be dark inside as some tents are dark. 🤷♀️💖🙏🇬🇧

Several years ago lighting struck a tent near Darien Lake in NY State and the people inside were killed.
The lightning was in tents...? Hahaha...
sorry all out of coffee but I do have hot coco lol.
im seeing it in the fishing industry to there bringing back stuff from a 100 years ago with modern materials witch is not bad thing they dont make things like they use to till now lol. and now there updated
At first the tent looks a bit funny but as I watched this vid I could see how it would be great for dryer climates.
Pretty awesome tent!!! As far as the color that Carolina blue not for me!!! But if it was Duke Blue it would be awesome lol !!! The company could do different colors more options for the costumers to buy!!!!
Nice performance great looking tent
Even without you asking I was not liking the color. Looks like those pop-up beach shades.
I have your coffee here. You said to get you one.
Larry you rock brother, oh man, perfect! :D - Luke

he has so many tents he could make a refuge camp
that tent is mini van only
Blue tents always look really cheap to me for some reason, otherwise it looks amazing!
Water coming through the zips - massive fail. I will avoid. Also it's ugly as!
THANKS for the great vids dude and keeping it truthful. Peace!
Nice tent, reminds me of my old clip flashlight. Hate the color. When are these tent manufacturers going to get it. We like earth tones to blend in with the natural woodland. How about camo, they'd sell a million of them.

Anyone looking for this tent now will have a hard time getting one. Seems to have been discontinued over the years

That baby blue is a horrible color. I think the color makes the tent look very cheap.
Nonsense. Great color to change your diaper during a severe thunderstorm.
Make sure to voice your opinions folks and maybe the company will make some changes. - Luke
Should be pink really.
The color really clashes with my summer shoes.
Drie, I suppose men call that color salmon or something but if you like pink that's cool.
Not my thing at all. - Luke
The color is horrible. All their tent color schemes look like something that belongs in a circus.
The side zipper leaking was/is a common complaint in their earlier "Flashlight" tent which is very similar.
I do like the other improvements they've made over the flashlight, though.
Soooo, ya gonna drink that coffe???
Hilleberg black label...and there is no storm that can give you issues.
With edges that steep and sharp be careful you don't cut yourself on that tent. You might need a tetanus afterwards.
Looks to small. I’m a big guy lineman size and I that little tent just won’t do.
tent doesnt look bombproof as they say. day at the lake tent
What happened to your hair?
Hmmm, well not sure. It's about the same as it always is. - Luke
Color? The worst color in the outback is blue. It attracts bugs more than any other color.

Function over fashion, I could care less of color as long as it keeps me and my gear dry in good
If you’re camping in places you’re not technically allowed to, this sort of color sucks.
