I always find the conversation about "condensation" issues over single wall and double wall tents interesting. Commentators often make it sound like with double walled tents there is no condensation issue. THERE IS! All that happens is the condensation sits behind the inner mesh. If you want to clean it off you have to either take the inner down or fiddle around between the inner and the outer fly. If you leave it and collapse the tent all that happens is the wet is transferred from the outer to the inner and you have a wet tent. The advantage of a single walled tent is that you can easily wipe of any condensation first thing in the morning and then pack it away. Anyway, thats my rant over! Great video as always 😊😊

Have the regular 1P and have been impressed with the quality. Recently used it on a 12 day backpacking trek without an issue. Withstood some heavy rains as well as strong winds. Just pay attention setting it and you'll be ready. 👍

About the 4 season vs 3 season versions. The nice thing about the non-pro versions is that the inner is the only thing that changes. You can buy the 3 season tent and then buy the 4-season inner. Basically the same outer can accommodate both a 3 and 4 season inner.

I bought the regular lanshan 2 used and love it! It was 2 years old when u got it and I've had it myself for 2 years. Last year I purchased the lanshan 2 pro, seam sealed it, and love it just as much! When backpacking together, my wife and our dog use the regular lanshan 2 and I take the pro in my pack. The mesh inner on the regular would sometimes annoy me because my head would touch against it when I would get up or move around inside while packing up things. It wasn't a major issue but just a little annoyance. I could definitely live with it if I had to. The pro version solved that problem for me. Condensation hasn't been a big problem for me in the pro version. Like any single wall tent, condensation is there. Mostly it runs down and out through the mesh on the ends. Typical with nylon tents, these will sag some in the rain as it stretches but easily tightened back up with the guy lines. What I really love about the lanshans are the amount of room inside the tent and the really nice sized vestibules. Cooking in the vestibules is easy, especially during rainy or snowy weather. Since these are another knockoff of the zpacks tents you can expect them to perform similarly but with more weight. Some trade off the door latches for the metal duplex latches but I've never had problems with the originals breaking. Some have changed out the tub floor lines for something better. Also, some have swapped the guy lines. I only swapped the stakes for longer ones. I have the duplex tent also. The doors are smaller on the lanshans but u presonally prefer the way the door zips over the duplex door falling inward on top of everything. I actually find myself and my wife using these lanshans way more than the duplex. For the price you can go out and know you have a great tent that even if you destroyed it you could replace it pretty easily. At the price of the duplex now, that's not something most can say. Needless to say. We love our duplex and this tent is not that. But, these tents will perform just as well in any weather you would put a duplex in. Ask me how I know, lol. I would probably cry if I destroyed my duplex. The lanshans, I would probably laugh and say "well, I guess we got to order another one!" That's why I really love these tents!
Had mine since right after Black Friday 2020 when they were $120 but even at $170ish it’s a great deal. It’s been fantastic in all kinds of weather, wind, rain and snow and has tons of room for me at 6’3”.
I have the grey (white) Lanshan 2 with both the net and winter inners and I really like it a lot. I am 6'-tall, so I find two 30"-ish sticks to prop up the guyouts for each end of the the tent. Just wrap the line around the top of the stick a few times and plant the sticks into the ground at a 20° pitch away from the tent. If you are hiking in areas without sticks, buy two old fishing poles and cut them down to 30" and remove the guide loops. Glue sharpened dowels on each pole to stick them into the ground. Lifting the head and foot guyouts will greatly improve your headroom and foot room.
I love this tent! Seam Sealing was SIMPLE! I made my own solution did it 3x and Im stoked , had a 24 hour downpour up by Mammoth in September Ida Belle Hotsprings to be exact.
I have the Lanshan 2 with the 3 & 4 season inner. I used it last year in Sept/Oct for the Pennine Way in the UK, 300 mile thru-hike. It performed flawlessly, no issues with condensation, held it's own in windy conditions, quick to pitch and very lightweight. The seam-sealing was no issue at all. This was the 1st tent that I'd had to seam-seal and I did the whole tent in about 30mins. I made a couple of small modifications, ZPacks metal hooks to hold the doors and replaced the plastic guy adjusters with alloy rabbit-ears. I'm 6'1" and found it had plenty of room. A good point to remember with sil-nylon tents, if they are wet they will tend to sag. Just before I turned-in for the night I'd check all of my guys and re-tension them accordingly. Fantastic tent for the money.
Would you recommend the pro, the normal 3 season, or the normal 4 season? I am planning on using this for a through hike and already have a MSR Hubba Hubba NX2
Had one and an issue that I have found along with a many others is the front doors plastic double hook breaking. Many have replaced with the metal ZPACKS Double-Hook version they use on there tents instead which you can get off there website.
I couldn't stomach the postage to the UK on a 5 dollar hook (not their fault) and just replaced it with a small carabiner from alpkit (I think? It was from somewhere). My non-pro also had guy-line material as loops on the doors to clip to the hook, replaced them with shock-cord (also added shock-cord loops to the fly panel guy-out loops). Also: hope you're well, not seen a vid from you in a while! Edit/what am I on about, watched one a month or so ago 😂
I have a tarp from 3F UL Gear 3m x 3m ripstop polyester with nylon and silver coating. It is tough AF and haven't disappointed me ever since I've got it. Their products are quite good imo.
The Lanshan 1 (not Pro) was my first backpacking tent, and I still love it though I haven't used it in a while. The inner mesh sagged a bit, but a few mods solved the problem. It's not freestanding, so pitching it can be more challenging, but I have pitched it on platforms in the Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge using platform anchors. I'm often tempted to add the Lanshan 2 to my collection. I almost always camp alone, but the extra space would be nice. My other tents are two person tents, but I always use them solo. The Lanshan Pro has never appealed to me. I don't want to seam seal it, and I'd rather have a separate inner. The inner is attached to the fly, but it is possible to pitch it separately, and I often pitch only a mesh inner in the summer. I enjoy the natural surroundings in a bug free environment. I don't need another tent, but I'll likely give into temptation at some point. I'll definitely be back to the Okefenokee in the spring, and I plan to hike the Georgia section of the Appalachian trail next year too. I've mostly been a kayak camper in the past, but you've given me a taste for the trail

i own both the lanshan 1 pro and lanshan 2 pro. love both of them, but i use the lanshan 1 pro as my "daily driver". we just came back from a trip today, and my 11yo daughter used the lanshan 2 pro, and she said she had a great sleep inside, also commenting on the size and weight in her backpack (osprey tempest 30). they are solid tents especially if you are trying to shave some ounces from your backpack. also, the whole seam sealing thing, i think its great that you have to do it yourself. at the same time, you get more familiar with your gear. ive slept in -24C in the lanshan 2 pro in a blizzard, that was really fun! i felt that the extra ventilation the 3 season variant offers, it would cut down on condensation build up inside. i was semi-right.
I have been using the older Lanshan 1 double-wall. It has done well. I also have the Lanshan 2 pro. It stood up to a pretty severe thunderstorm on my test night. The dog and I stayed dry, but we sure did hope to not get literally lit up by the lightening. The dog figured I was nuts, as we were only 10 steps from the front door. Seam sealing on the Pro was not too bad & I guess I did a good job.
Am I correct in thinking only the 120cm version of the poles works for the tent even though they sell 3 sizes? Had a quick look at their site so I could be wrong. May be worth mentioning if it is the case though? IDK. Hope everyone reading this is doing well. :)
Thanks for the video! 3F UL Gear has updated their Lanshan Pro starting with their 2023 models, they are now using a T-Door fly instead of the L-Door fly that only enables you to open up the fly on the left. To me, this is a huge deal and it was one of the few drawbacks I have with my current Lanshan. Can you do a review on the new model T-Door Lanshan Pro, Luke? There are really no reviews out there for it and I think it’s a huge improvement.
Thanks again there is a slight disadvantage with your pole. In bad weather it's wise to reduce the height by a few cms. I guess digging a small hole would do instead. NB something off piste have a look at Gladiator 2 they stole your strap line
I have the Lanshan 2 and a Eureka SQ 2XT. I love both and they both have thier pros and cons. Primitive camping, I take the Lanshan. Park/race track camping, I bring the Eureka...

I agree their website needs more info on the difference between 3 and 4 season. There would not be many people in Australia that would need the 4 season. Unless they want to cook.
i have version 2 pro. I believe that it is the best budget ultralight tent on the market. I slept in it in heavy downpours and on mountain tops with very strong winds, and never had any problems. it has never leaked or damaged anything. condensation is similar to all the tents I own. you have to get used to a single wall and make friends with a cloth 😉
I was interested before in buying this tent but also found it confusing I was not sure I would be getting a genuine tent so I gave up the process . I have seen a number of hikers using it but your is the best review so far and I look forward to the next parts . Keep up the good work 💪👍
Try the Lanshan 1 Plus longer/wider 4 season inner, T zip and don't need to seam seal. The best tent 3FUL gear make, the 4 season version is inner tent and outer tent with solid inner J door or T door.
I have regular lanshan 2 with both the 3 and 4 season inners. Purchased it last year when they increased the length of the inner by 4". I'm 6'1", and that is about as tall as I would recommend for that tent unless you sleep diagonally. The regular 1 person also got increased length and width last year. I believe the updated 1 person regular has the same length as the pro, but it's not quite as wide. The regular 2 is 4" shorter. I really appreciate being able to swap between the 3 season inner for summer and the 4 season inner for early spring and late autumn. I think the total price came to about the same as a pro version. Only negative is that I think the regular version is a bit more fiddly to set up properly, and the inner can dag a bit if you sint get the proper height and use the guy lines at each end to lift the fabric. You could use a (1' or so) stick wedged under the guy lines to help pull the wall straight out. My tent has the same brown color as the one in this review and I love it. I camp a lot in spruce and pine forests and it really blends in. I can't say anything about waterproofing as I haven't had it out in the rain. Some people say you might want to seam seal the tie out points for the guy lines though.
Good to see you address the lanshan question Luke. I bought a regular lanshan2 for use as a 1 person tent as im 6ft 4 tall individual. Used it couple years now and its fantastic in summer and stands up well to the mixed UK spring / autumn weather. Had a few beastings on exposed hills and the tent held up well because id supplemented the pegs with better ones
We purchased 3f Ul qingkong.. a copy of msr mutha Hubba nx3.. Less than half the price! But excellent quality... Fantastic summer backpacking tent. So I can understand why everyone likes 3ful gear...
For those of you who want a better warranty Paria Outdoor Products has an OEM version of the standard LanShan called the Arches. You get a lifetime warranty and US based support; assuming you can stand their choice of yellow for the tent.
I'm 6'2" and the regular lanshan 2 is more than long enough for me. The width is the kicker. You can't fit two 25" pads, side by side. A 20" and a 25" fit well though. I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of this tent. For my one person tent I use the Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo, and absolutely love it. If this is half the tent my SMD is you will be very happy with it.

I own the normal 2p version. Really like it in good weather, in very windy conditions not so much. Used it for a trip in Sweden, but joined a fellow hiker during a thunderstorm because I didn't feel comfortable. After seeing a video online from someone that was using it close to the sea during high winds, i felt even less happy. The whole tent collapsed and got ripped.
Hey Luke, Maybe you can give us a lesson on how to pick trails, non trails and other places to hike/camp. I’m always worried about trespassing on someone’s property either private or govt owned!
I have Both the regular Lanshan 1 and 2 and both PRO versions too (including this exact one)... I've seen a couple days ago a "AT thru hiker" that was using the Lanshan 2 pro ....to hike the whole AT and he told me that it worked super well. I also never had an issue. I think they are amazing UL tents.... weight vs price vs quality... Great overall.
What would be your advice for someone who already has a MSR Hubba Hubba NX2, and now looks for a through hiking tent in conditions between 0°C and 30°C? I am thinking of getting the pro or the normal 3 season but cant decide!
@@antonslegers9888 well, i use both models but i prefer the pro single layer ... not much condensation and its lighter too. Also, Bugs don't get stuck in between. But... both are good.
I've owned the 2 person version for a few years. The round tension pulls in the center of the panels leak even after seam sealing. 3f UL will need to add taped seams before I will buy another one.
Had the standard 2021 Lanshan 1 since middle of last year. It is taped, but the head/foot/back panel guy loops aren't, so they need a good dose of sealant. I'm 6'2" and have plenty of head and foot room lying down on my pad in it (make sure you get a 2021 model, they increased the dimensions from then). Sitting up is pretty much not happening, only place is right under the peak.... where the pole is. I can, however, pack everything up into my pack (apart from the tent, obvs) inside the inner. As with all tents, if conditions are right for it you're going to get condensation. But the air flow that raised vestibule pitch gives it works in my experience. My fly is currently strung out in the loft drying (rained last night), but as the ground wasn't sodden (hadn't rained in weeks really) I had no condensation this morning.
I've used both Pros in UK. Alot of condensation... Need a sponge to mop it down.... Also it just gives me the feeling that all my kit is damp .. I don't want a tent to make everything damp... So sold em
You can get these tents on Amazon, too. Just under different names. I have a red one ... original. I like it. As a very short woman, it is perfect. I PREFERE my hammock, but I got this tent for versatility.
Hey man, big fan of your channel since recently :) been doing a LOT of research online on different tent options in the light weight arena, for backpacking/section hiking purposes. On the more bushcrafty platforms in Europe you come across a couple tents by DD Hammocks a lot. (DD Hammocks Superlight Pyramid Mesh / Tent (both sold separately btw) for example). They are waterproof (3000ml), very inexpensive (like 200 and a bit €), superlight (like 1kg and a bit total excl pegs), and seem to be holding up to storms pretty well on several smaller youtube channels' tests, certainly the tipi-style ones. A possible drawback seems to be their awkward, just that bit too small floorspace sizes. Bummer, but still, the pro's are kinda unbelievable. I can't seem to find answers for questions like: "If you sleep on that 200 cm long bathtub floor, will your head be right against the outer wall all night, or is it doable?" and "Will water come up through the hole in the middle of the floor where your trekking pole is holding up the tipi?" and stuff :p Anyway - looking at the pros and cons - definitely very curious if you have heard of and what you make of these tents, dude. Bushcraft community seems to quite like them enough. Greetings, and thanks for the useful videos.

I leak tested mine for 1 month in the garden after seam sealing and it didnt leak once. good tent.

i own both the lanshan 1 pro and lanshan 2 pro. love both of them, but i use the lanshan 1 pro as my "daily driver". we just came back from a trip today, and my 11yo daughter used the lanshan 2 pro, and she said she had a great sleep inside, also commenting on the size and weight in her backpack (osprey tempest 30). they are solid tents especially if you are trying to shave some ounces from your backpack. also, the whole seam sealing thing, i think its great that you have to do it yourself. at the same time, you get more familiar with your gear. ive slept in -24C in the lanshan 2 pro in a blizzard, that was really fun! i felt that the extra ventilation the 3 season variant offers, it would cut down on condensation build up inside. i was semi-right.

I have the 2pro 4 season in brown. I LOVE it. It’s great for northern Michigan as our nights get cold all summer. Super light, durable and roomy.

I have been using the older Lanshan 1 double-wall. It has done well. I also have the Lanshan 2 pro. It stood up to a pretty severe thunderstorm on my test night. The dog and I stayed dry, but we sure did hope to not get literally lit up by the lightening. The dog figured I was nuts, as we were only 10 steps from the front door. Seam sealing on the Pro was not too bad & I guess I did a good job.
Just arrived back with the 2 person pro version from a long hike in norway and have no regrets

Hey Luke, I wonder if instead of “4 Season” it should be “4th Season” - makes it clearer that it should be for only the 4th, or winter season
Am I correct in thinking only the 120cm version of the poles works for the tent even though they sell 3 sizes? Had a quick look at their site so I could be wrong. May be worth mentioning if it is the case though? IDK. Hope everyone reading this is doing well. :)

Thanks for the video! 3F UL Gear has updated their Lanshan Pro starting with their 2023 models, they are now using a T-Door fly instead of the L-Door fly that only enables you to open up the fly on the left. To me, this is a huge deal and it was one of the few drawbacks I have with my current Lanshan. Can you do a review on the new model T-Door Lanshan Pro, Luke? There are really no reviews out there for it and I think it’s a huge improvement.
Thanks again there is a slight disadvantage with your pole. In bad weather it's wise to reduce the height by a few cms. I guess digging a small hole would do instead. NB something off piste have a look at Gladiator 2 they stole your strap line
I have the Lanshan 2 and a Eureka SQ 2XT. I love both and they both have thier pros and cons. Primitive camping, I take the Lanshan. Park/race track camping, I bring the Eureka...

I agree their website needs more info on the difference between 3 and 4 season. There would not be many people in Australia that would need the 4 season. Unless they want to cook.
i have version 2 pro. I believe that it is the best budget ultralight tent on the market. I slept in it in heavy downpours and on mountain tops with very strong winds, and never had any problems. it has never leaked or damaged anything. condensation is similar to all the tents I own. you have to get used to a single wall and make friends with a cloth 😉
I have the Pro 2 and love mine.. 😊 The space is amazing. My partner is 1.94m tall and his feet doesn't touch the bottom. Great value for money.

Pole non height adjustable, and that is vital to help with ventilation. Long pole to vent, short pole to hunker down .

Try the Lanshan 1 Plus longer/wider 4 season inner, T zip and don't need to seam seal. The best tent 3FUL gear make, the 4 season version is inner tent and outer tent with solid inner J door or T door.

I have regular lanshan 2 with both the 3 and 4 season inners. Purchased it last year when they increased the length of the inner by 4". I'm 6'1", and that is about as tall as I would recommend for that tent unless you sleep diagonally. The regular 1 person also got increased length and width last year. I believe the updated 1 person regular has the same length as the pro, but it's not quite as wide. The regular 2 is 4" shorter.
I really appreciate being able to swap between the 3 season inner for summer and the 4 season inner for early spring and late autumn. I think the total price came to about the same as a pro version.
Only negative is that I think the regular version is a bit more fiddly to set up properly, and the inner can dag a bit if you sint get the proper height and use the guy lines at each end to lift the fabric. You could use a (1' or so) stick wedged under the guy lines to help pull the wall straight out.
My tent has the same brown color as the one in this review and I love it. I camp a lot in spruce and pine forests and it really blends in.
I can't say anything about waterproofing as I haven't had it out in the rain. Some people say you might want to seam seal the tie out points for the guy lines though.

Good to see you address the lanshan question Luke. I bought a regular lanshan2 for use as a 1 person tent as im 6ft 4 tall individual. Used it couple years now and its fantastic in summer and stands up well to the mixed UK spring / autumn weather. Had a few beastings on exposed hills and the tent held up well because id supplemented the pegs with better ones
Surely it's not long enough the regular two person one for your height ?

I'm 6'2" and the regular lanshan 2 is more than long enough for me. The width is the kicker. You can't fit two 25" pads, side by side. A 20" and a 25" fit well though. I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of this tent. For my one person tent I use the Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo, and absolutely love it. If this is half the tent my SMD is you will be very happy with it.

I own the normal 2p version. Really like it in good weather, in very windy conditions not so much. Used it for a trip in Sweden, but joined a fellow hiker during a thunderstorm because I didn't feel comfortable. After seeing a video online from someone that was using it close to the sea during high winds, i felt even less happy. The whole tent collapsed and got ripped.
For about $30 they will seam seal it in the factory. I had them do my 2 Pro. I have the regular 1 and it was great for my 6 day trek this summer.
Can you make a review later about ground sheets, ground tarps which can defend the tent from punctures?

I have Both the regular Lanshan 1 and 2 and both PRO versions too (including this exact one)... I've seen a couple days ago a "AT thru hiker" that was using the Lanshan 2 pro ....to hike the whole AT and he told me that it worked super well. I also never had an issue. I think they are amazing UL tents.... weight vs price vs quality... Great overall.
What would be your advice for someone who already has a MSR Hubba Hubba NX2, and now looks for a through hiking tent in conditions between 0°C and 30°C? I am thinking of getting the pro or the normal 3 season but cant decide!
@@antonslegers9888 well, i use both models but i prefer the pro single layer ... not much condensation and its lighter too. Also, Bugs don't get stuck in between. But... both are good.

I've owned the 2 person version for a few years. The round tension pulls in the center of the panels leak even after seam sealing. 3f UL will need to add taped seams before I will buy another one.
Had the standard 2021 Lanshan 1 since middle of last year. It is taped, but the head/foot/back panel guy loops aren't, so they need a good dose of sealant.
I'm 6'2" and have plenty of head and foot room lying down on my pad in it (make sure you get a 2021 model, they increased the dimensions from then). Sitting up is pretty much not happening, only place is right under the peak.... where the pole is. I can, however, pack everything up into my pack (apart from the tent, obvs) inside the inner.
As with all tents, if conditions are right for it you're going to get condensation. But the air flow that raised vestibule pitch gives it works in my experience. My fly is currently strung out in the loft drying (rained last night), but as the ground wasn't sodden (hadn't rained in weeks really) I had no condensation this morning.

I've used both Pros in UK. Alot of condensation... Need a sponge to mop it down.... Also it just gives me the feeling that all my kit is damp .. I don't want a tent to make everything damp... So sold em

Hey man, big fan of your channel since recently :) been doing a LOT of research online on different tent options in the light weight arena, for backpacking/section hiking purposes.
On the more bushcrafty platforms in Europe you come across a couple tents by DD Hammocks a lot. (DD Hammocks Superlight Pyramid Mesh / Tent (both sold separately btw) for example). They are waterproof (3000ml), very inexpensive (like 200 and a bit €), superlight (like 1kg and a bit total excl pegs), and seem to be holding up to storms pretty well on several smaller youtube channels' tests, certainly the tipi-style ones.
A possible drawback seems to be their awkward, just that bit too small floorspace sizes. Bummer, but still, the pro's are kinda unbelievable. I can't seem to find answers for questions like: "If you sleep on that 200 cm long bathtub floor, will your head be right against the outer wall all night, or is it doable?" and "Will water come up through the hole in the middle of the floor where your trekking pole is holding up the tipi?" and stuff :p
Anyway - looking at the pros and cons - definitely very curious if you have heard of and what you make of these tents, dude. Bushcraft community seems to quite like them enough.
