Thanks for the review. Quick tips though: think you're still pitching it not quite right. I have a Zpacks Altaplex (the design this tent was copied from) and the way to get the most consistently good pitch is: 1) stake out the back three stakes (the three on the long side opposite the door), 2) put up the pole and stake it out, 3) once you feel you have the pole adjusted for height and tensioned correctly, stake out the front two stakes. You can do it the way you're doing it in this video (staking out all four corners, then putting up the pole), but in practice in the field, it's hard to always get the alignment of the four corners perfect without the pole standing, and usually takes a deal of adjustment, which is just wasted time. The steps I outlined also are your best bet for pitching it at the right height, which as you say in the video is the key to the tent being as comfortable as possible. Also, one more thing: looks like you're putting in your stakes at an angle. Intuitively, this seems like it must make most sense. But you'll actually get best holding in most surfaces by pounding your stake in straight down into the ground. It's about getting the stake deeper into the dirt. Deeper = better holding = less likely to fail. Angling them like you did in the video, you lose about 25% of holding power (Google it if you don't believe me!) Happy trails!
ah - got to then end. yep, quite good tents aren't they. very light and can take quite a beating with the weather. not proper 4 season but getting there with the right kit. glad you liked it - atb
Definitely the best ultralight budget tent out there. Love mine, although I prefer to use it as a fairweather/summer shelter. I know it's capable of more, but for colder, windier weather and longer nights I prefer a more comfortable, sturdier and larger double-skin tent (Scarp 1 at present), despite the weight penalty.
Thanks for the advice...I have one on order for my thru hike in May. Being used to a MSR hubba hubba its going to be very different in a smaller space. I chose this tent for one reason...weight. I looked at big money ultralights but didn't want to spend too much as ihave a good tent already. I decided to buy the lanshan. My body will thank me after a long days hike as my pack weight is lower than before. Happy hiking ......
Honestly you won't regret it at all! It takes a bit of time to get used to it but once you figure it out for you it's great! Have you looked at my how to set it up video? I think it can be valuable for you.
I have had this tent for one year now. Woulld say it's best budget 1person UL tent. Certainly there is better tents out there, but if u r on budget this one is unbeatable due to low price. keep in mind that this tent is desighed for ultralight backpackers, u must sacrifice some comfort to lower the gear weight. I'm ultralight backpacker, this tent helps me hike longer, faster and further, i love it. If u r more camper than a hiker and want some comforts at campp, it may not be right one for u. BTW, I'm a Chinese Canadian and purchased this tent from 3F UL directly last year, cost about 140 CAD. I noticed price has gone up recently
This was the First Video i watched on YT and I got mine a few days ago! Did a few mods and changed out a few things to improve my setup time. I come real close to getting a green tent, went with the brown one. Thanks for making this video..
I was considering that but it's just a little lighter than my 2 person Big Agnes Copper Spur. I am keeping it in the back of my mind for a future possibility.
Hey Marty, I just watched like 10 videos of yours in a row hahah. Great tips and reviews !! You are really good at explaining things. Looking forward to seeing more of your contents
Greetings from England. Good review mate. I've got this tent and for the price is great value. At my age ultralight is a necessity rather than choice so it's suits me. Condensation can be an issue but minimise this with a high pitch and l set the trekking pole at 130cm rather than the 125cm some recommend. I'll be honest l'm a fairweather camper so l sleep with the inner snd the fly partially unzipped to improve airflow. Happy camping mate.
Absolutely helpful video! I'm a camping beginner and I was looking for a light and easy to build up tent. So I found the lanshan 1 pro. What did you take for the seams?
I have the Lanshan 2. I'm still getting used to it but it is a great design for the weight. I like a 1P because I seem to stay in place better, so does my quilt and pillow. Great review sir!
sorry - so, and pardon me is i'm misunderstanding you, but you don't like a single skin, lightweight trekking pole through hiking tent because its a single skin, lightweight trekking pole through hiking tent. odd - i rather thought that was the point of it
I recently invested in a different tent from another manufacturer. When it gives up the ghost, I’ll give this super lightweight puppy a try! Nice detailed review my friend! 👍 All the bases covered.
One question, do you think if I can use the outer wall as a hammock tarp (under the hammock) I love both hammock and tent backpacking and would be great if can use it for both and save a dollar ? ☺️
I'm looking at ordering the Lanshan 1 which has separate inner and outer tents; I like the idea of just pitching the fly for breaks in inclement weather and also packing or unpacking under the fly. But my question is: how much will I spend on duty when the product is delivered. Buying the Lanshan 1 through 3FUL is $101 USD (astonishingly good price) plus 21 USD shipping. Presumably the duty is on the 101 only? I tried an online duty calculator and with PSD and GST it's coming out to about 80 bucks plus the shipping so I presume I'll get the tent in CND for just over 200 bucks. Does this match your purchasing experience? Were you dinged with more or less duty and tax fees? Cheers.
Just noticed your estimate of the full price; sounds like my estimate is inline with yours so perhaps you've answered the question already in the video cheers again.
I’m not 💯 percent sure on that to be honest. They sent it to me for free but I did pay 27$ of duties for it in Canada. I only know of people who purchased it from Ali express as well.
no but you can by the 4 season vesrion of it. if you click on the link in the description you will see that as an option in the purchase you can buy the winter version.
hey - a two person tent is definitely for two people - you've just got to know her quite well. or at least you will after a few nights. top tip - stay off the beans

Most customers choose khaki, especially used in grassland, especially good hidden color.☺☺☺
agree
I bought it
I like green

I love my lanshan, it does take a bit of practice to get the pitch right.

Yeah for sure there is a bit of sacrifice that needs to be made for comfort! Part of the trade
Good stuff man! I've watched several reviews concerning this tent and the company itself.
I love this tent. Simple yet perfect!

Good call!
High quality gear review right here! Super informative Marty, you hit the nail on the head with this one 🔨😉 Have a great weekend buddy!🍻
Thanks 👍
Nice observations and sharing. You have a wonderful week
Thank you! You too!
Great review my friend! I’ve been eyeing up this tent for a LONG time. I think it’s time I bite the bullet and get this tent!
I don't think you will regret it at all! Always fun to have a few tools in the tool box for different jobs!

Thank you so much Emma! I'm glad you enjoy the content!!! :)
Great review. I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these, I think you pushed me over the edge
Nice!
Such a great tent review, great breakdown and realistic opinion, should do more gear videos
Thanks David! Will do its gear review season for a bit!!!

Thanks my friend!!! indeed a tall pitch is key for ventilation!!!!!
Ce n'est pas une tente pour moi mais j'ai très aimé ta présentation , revue très complète de la tente avec les avantages et désavantages . Merci ! ✌️
Yeah c'est pas pour tout le monde mais pour une tente une place c'est tres nice!
Absolutely helpful video! I'm a camping beginner and I was looking for a light and easy to build up tent. So I found the lanshan 1 pro. What did you take for the seams?
Just a regular seam sealant. I’m sure I left a link in the desceiption
@@martymorissette thank you!

I'm really intrigued in the lanshan 2p myself actually! I'm hopping to test it out next summer!
is one man version has got better wind resistance than 2 man version?
It’s been working fine for me…. But a non freestanding tent will never be as good for really windy environment . Camp site selection is key for that!
sorry - so, and pardon me is i'm misunderstanding you, but you don't like a single skin, lightweight trekking pole through hiking tent because its a single skin, lightweight trekking pole through hiking tent. odd - i rather thought that was the point of it

Great video 💯

No won’t work for hammock
I’ve been eyeing these. Might have to reach out to them.
yeah you won't regret it!
I will choose collins outdoors, the price is more favorable.

I will have to try it one day!
next summer!
Can you tell me what carbon pole you are using?
Thé link to them are in the bio
IS it possible to buy a winter inner tent and make it a 4 seasons tent?
no but you can by the 4 season vesrion of it. if you click on the link in the description you will see that as an option in the purchase you can buy the winter version.
@@martymorissette thanks for the reply, very handy!
I'm torn on tents lmao. The only tent I could find online that checks every one of my boxes, is that 700$ fooker from Z Packs lmao
Yeah that’s a hard purchase… but you should only have to do it once
Hi! I’m 1,9 m tall (it should be 6’3 ), will I fit in?
I think you will find it too tight. I would go with the pro 2.
hey - a two person tent is definitely for two people - you've just got to know her quite well. or at least you will after a few nights. top tip - stay off the beans
Wow! 230 inches long! That's like 19 feet! ; )
hahaha how did I not catch that! lol I must have watched this thing.... 100 times too lol
Good backpacking camp tent , most hikers use trekking poles anyway ,, not the best car tent
very true!
if it weighs over 2 lbs i would just go with the nemo hornet 2p
That is also a great tent! just twice the price...
GrandMaster Clicklord Titling
Lol🙌🙌
Time to get an Xmid
Would love to try it!!!
Is LanSHan supposed to be pronounced as LanCHan?
I believe so
I will not buy in ali, now there is a 20% tax, I will choose collins outdoors.
LMAO you go beg for gear when you need something?? sad
If you need a tent you won’t regret it!
