I have just got a Lanshan 1 Pro and tested it in Mid Wales at the August bank holiday.
It rained ... quite a lot.
I did seam seal it and I also waterproofed the fabric with the newer water based spray. The seam seals were absolutely fine but I don't think the water based waterproofing compound is quite so good, as when it rained and the wind blew I got a very small amount of minute spray droplets forced through the fabric. Not enough to make me wet, or my sleeping bag or the tent bottom, but still you don't want that going on. My cagoule, reproofed with the same stuff, also wetted out the following day in heavy rain. Back home, yesterday I waterproofed both again with the traditional propellant based stuff.
I shall also upgrade the pegs before its next outing at the end of next week. Nice video.
Hey Tony, thanks for the comment mate. Yeah Seam sealing can be hit and miss. I mixed mine with white spirits and created a paste that went on really well. Worth looking at. I love the Lanshan. What a solid little tent. The one pro is a fully attached inner right?
@@soletrail I did exactly the same to do the seam sealing. The smell from the white spirit soon goes off if you hang it outside for a couple of hours. My Lanshan is single skin, with an inner door. It is very well made and you would have to pay several times as much to get something significantly better.
Jaysus it looks like the midges were having a field day. Savage tent, you can fit these tents on some awkward spots once you get the hang of pitching it. Spots like those are likely to have the best views and you can't go wrong with Khaki brown

Love my Lanshan 1pro! Though it can be a bit flappy on exposed pitches. But on the positive side; that just comes down to your camp craft, and makes you consider your choice of pitches more thoughtfully.

They're great lowland tents, and even not to bad in higher sheltered valleys. But you better be very aware of the weather if you're going to pitch on the summit of anything. Haha..not conducive with a good nights sleep!🌫🌬⛺😕

I love the colour of the tent - I probably prefer the use of two poles with the X-Mid 1 though which allows greater living space. Trade offs with all tents of course 🙃
Thanks Miriam, The color of the tent is indeed pretty cool.. My Favourite And you're right, the X-Mid 1 with two poles does offer more living space. It's all about finding the right balance and considering the trade-offs that come with different tent designs. Camping gear can be a bit of a puzzle sometimes, but that's part of the fun, right? Hope all is well. 😁
The inner is saggy because you pitch it too low. Yes it will leave a big gap at the front.
I simply overlap the front doors with two pegs and don't use the zipper.
Only the single wall Pro version has to be fully seam-sealed.
On the first double wall Lanshan tents the tie-out points for the inner could leak. Rest is all taped. I'm not sure sealing taped seams is a good idea?
And yes it is really waterpoof. Floor too. I've been in pools of water with it so deep I could see sharks swim.
There is a Flame's Creed Lanshan with 230cm long inner.
You can get a T-door inner.
Of course you can use the inner with a larger single ( or double) pole tent or tarp such as my 160-170cm high hot-tent and still be fairly lightweight. (although I never camp in winter).
It may add little bit of weight but put a small groundsheet or picnic blanket in the vestibule as well. Everything will be dry in the morning. Really comfy. I like nature, but not to sit on.

Looks like my Zpacks Plex Solo. Mine is white, but I'm not into stealth for backpacking.
I have one of the original versions and it is total crap. This one looks much nicer. mine sags so bad inside(lays on your face), that I had to add zipties and velcro to get it to semi work. Next time will just spend extra money and get something made much better. Thanks for the review.

Inner will be less saggy if you set poles to 125-130cm
And take off the yellow cords on the inner, and peg directly into the ground. More pegs needed but the inner wont sag . Ive got the plus version with the T door, 4 season inner. Great tent 👍
The standard height is 125cm. If it is higher, it will indeed alleviate internal sagging.

That tie out at the top above the trek pole is actually to use as a guy line to use the tent without a trekking pole by tying to an overhead tree or line between 2 trees if you dont want to carry a trek pole or dont have a trekking pole or if you forget it at home. Its a nice little feature and can save a little weight by not carrying a trekking pole.

Hi thanks for posted this video. Really informative. I'm thinking about getting one, but my issue with my current tent is that I don't have any shelter when I hope the inner door and want to make a brew whilst still sat in my tent.
My question is, could you open the other door instead? Or the opposite side of the door you dip open on the outer? So I can have the inner open and a door open without rain going directly in the inner? Hope that makes sense !

Interesting tent Martin, looks like a good job! It leaves me torn though, my tight arse side of the brain say yea because of the price, but my geeky camping side wants the xmid! Then my third half of my brain says I need a bullet proof tent that can withstand a hurricane! Ahhhh, my head hurts now😂 Maybe I should just do what @miriamkennedy does and buy them all😊

Do you put up the tent with ground sheet loop AND bugnet/inner/floor loop AND rainfly loop ALL on the same tent peg/stake PRIOR to center pole, while its all still on the ground? (Thank you 🙏)
Yes and yes. Most tents use the one peg for all parts. Or some us a catch on the inside for inners and ground sheets
I love this tent. I have the Lanshan2. This is my first tent and it so simple to work with. I totally agree about the pegs, although they work really well, i bought larger ones with a larger notch (just for peace of mind). I also agree with the comments about larger gaps but i watched a video the reduced the stick height as you suggested.

I have the older version and it's a little smaller but suits me as I am very short! Some more tips - You can use a second trekking pole at the back tie out to raise it up a bit and give extra room inside. I didn't seam seal mine before going out in an orange rain warning! Only leak was at one of the side tie outs and I unhooked the inner to stop the rain tracking down - worked ok. I also bring an extra peg for the door and don't use the hook thing at all. Finally, lay out your two trekking poles to measure the ground and check if level before pitching. I love your colour - mine is bright green, and not nearly as discrete.

Excellent review...please make video on seam sealing, that would be great! I am planning to hike the northern section of the Arizona Trail (330 miles) next year. I have considered it because it is light. My concern is its ability to adapt to various weather conditions it will be exposed to at and well above 2134 meters! The price for the Lansham is low enough that I should probably go ahead and buy it and test it. Decisions like this are fun to make.:)

Nice video. I like the screw peg idea. But mostly I keep the fly 2 or 3 inches above ground for ventilation, I've even pushed the pole height up to 125cm to get it higher still. But I never use it in winter I have an old Vango tent that I use for beating the elements. But for a lightweight 3 season tent(and I do use the 4 season inner even for 3 season use!) it is great value. But I will be looking for those metal hooks, I don't trust the plastic and keep expecting it to break...

I used a spray on seam sealer. Went over it three times in about 10 minutes wiping off any excess. It’s never leaked. So simple

in theory couldn't you just file down a deeper notch on the stakes it comes with if they aren't deep enough instead of opting for entirely different stakes?
I went camping with the Lanshan 1 this past weekend, and couldn't figure out how to close both vestibule flaps while INSIDE the tent. It was very difficult. Any suggestions on how to do that?
I don;t use the zipper. I just overlap the doors using an extra peg.
