Great video on getting that blower out. I got a cleaner for the evaporator coil and pan from a parts store. It kills all the mold in your entire system including vents. The can comes with a long tube you push into the drain tube. Shake the can then spray it all in. Wait 15 or 20 minutes then crank up and run A/C on low for 15-20 minutes. I couldn’t believe all the crud that came out plus the car has a fresh clean smell now.
Great video. I have a 98 C1500 getting ready to put the 3rd replacement fan in at 370k miles. When I replaced the heater core I dremeled the box for access. It's a daily driver not a show truck. Also if you spray the evaporater coils with 409 or such let sit, brush lightly, let sit then spray water thru the evap. The evap has the drain hose. Just don't go overboard with.the water. 😊
Nice video. Thanks for the detailed instructions. My actuator is sticking, so while I’m fixing that, think I will check my evap. Don’t get a lot of flow like it should. Keep up the great work.
Thank you very much! I have cleaned mine out with a garden hose before but I am definitely going to use the foam spray asap I need all the air I can get mine not cutting it.
Great video, bout to replace my fan, resistor block, and even the control panel switch assembly in the dash on a 1997 chevy 2500. Ended up with ebay purchased items, ...I am sure they will do fine. I think I will find a spray bottle and use a soapy water like dawn dish detergent cause I'm nowhere near a home depot store and I guess I could call around to various parts stores to see if they have evap cleaner. Using the hose, wow, I want to do that, where originally all I wanted to do was use a vacuum cleaner, maybe an old toothbrush, but eh, I want this fix to last a long time,....a very long time. I live on the Oregon Coast, not much dusty air, nor pine needles near my driveway, but I haven't seen what's "inside" yet.
If your blower motor squeals or won't turn at All you may be able to fix the motor. There really isnt a bearing. The shaft rotates in a bushing. Take the motor apart and clean the shaft and oil the bushing. That could take care of the squeal. If the motor doesn't turn check the brushes to make sure they freely slide in their channel. I did both of these things and fixed my motor. Also take a small needle nose file to the armature to clean It up for better electrical contact. Just scratch it up a bit to get some shiny copper showing.
