1970 Chevy Nova SS. Project Nova Series Part 5

1970 Chevy Nova hood hinge installation. In an effort to encourage our body shop to do a good job, we felt some preliminary body fit up was a good idea. Pride of ownership hopefully means pride in autobody work. New hood hinges greatly tightened up our hood alignment and as such when the car is painted it will be that much better.

I use chainsaw bar oil on my hinges .. seems these days oil change places don’t lube hinges.

Most of the people who work at oil change places are too young to remember when cars needed any kind of lubrication other than an oil change, or you could use any kind of oil on hinge points. Many modern cars have permanent grease on the hinges, and/or nylon. So you need to use only the specific grease the manufacturer advises or none at all.
