That was the first time I think in fool us history that an act got a standing ovation from every single person in the audience , including penn and teller.
You're dumb. The act didn't get a standing ovation from anyone. Penn turned around and did a violent arm gesture that manipulated everyone into standing up and cheering like idiots. That was the real magic. One guy in a suit controlling hundreds of homeless people.
Notice that Penn motioned the audience to stand. Well deserved.
You just did one of the bravest things a magician can do: you explained the trick up front, and then used that to give the audience a false sense of confidence before playing the real trick. That used to be forbidden in the magic world, and that’s the tactic that got Penn and Teller originally branded as “the bad boys of magic”. And you did all that, performing for _them_

It's not fear of talking but just confusion in English and Singaporean languages growing up. It's normal for non-English speaking parents' children to not talk until they are past 2 years of age, and when they start talking, it's selective mutism.
We witnessed the start of the career of an awesome magician. Being honest to you that you didn't fool them and treating you as an adult is by far the higher compliment as getting that trophy. I'm sure one day you will get it. 🍀👍🏻

I am 63 years old, but I too did this trick when I was in junior high school before the entire school. While I did indeed fool the kids back then, none of them were Penn and Teller. I wish I had done it as masterfully and as brilliantly as you did. The quick change was spectacular, by the way.
The magic aside, I give you a standing ovation for battling selective mutism. What an inspiration you are Rachel! People have no idea what kind of ordeal it is to go up against anxiety of that magnitude. And to then go up on a stage, in front of a huge audience and cameras… and Penn & Teller.

Made me cry as I get being a 11yr old and thinking you can beat the season masters and I get the heartbreak at the “no you didn’t” but the respect they gave her is far beyond a trophy and i fully get that feeling but was so nicely done …. I’m gonna go cry in a corner now

As a former teacher, I can tell you this is a girl who has become an expert at practicing. Practicing endlessly, and remembering the improvements from that practicing. This is one of the best performance on P&TFU I have ever seen! I was literally hooked up till the end of the performance! The crisp in her voice and that big cute smile really made it entertaining to watch. I really love it ♥

Penn's words really resonated with me, you really elevated a silly trick into something valuable. Creating teachable moments out of silly things is the highest mark of quality for any act, and what really amazed me was that no other aspect of your performance suffered for it.

What made this performance stand out was that brilliant ending. It came out of the air! I didn't expect it because I was looking right at it and didn't see it until she revealed it.
Add to it the fact that she looks like a China doll, is totally charming and in control of herself (AND the audience), and indeed you do have the future of magic.
Her tears at the end were the perfect prize, and better than the FU trophy could have ever been.

You didn’t fool them, but you impressed them enough to give you a standing ovation and earn their respect. Impressing Penn and Teller isn’t easy since they’ve been doing magic for most of their lives and know every trick in the book. That’s worth more than any trophy. Don’t forget that.
Rachel I know you wanted that trophy I did also. But what you did get was the respect and admiration of everyone who watched you perform your magic. You were brilliant and had such incredible stage presence. You will come back and fool them of that I am sure of.

I love it when part of a trick is explained and then something added on top. A very Penn & Teller thing to do, fits perfectly in the show. Well done!
I remember when I was about your age, I got a beginner's magic kit that included the basic version of that trick. When I was twelve, a science teacher at the school had a magic class where he taught us tricks to put on a magic show. You took it even further. Also, for a fun side note, this science teacher also was a magician for several years at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, where Penn and Teller first met.

There's no doubt that Penn and Teller offer a compliment that goes beyond the ordinary, and a hope to see you again on stage. It's something you can be proud of, and keep surprised, do magic and enjoy what you're doing. Then I have no doubt that you will meet Penn and Teller again and fool them....😊😊😊
I always find one of the best compliments you can get on that show is when Teller reacts. He always seems so genuine and he wants people to succeed. (That's when you know someone truly loves what they do). Although you didn't fool them, you entertained them that is big. Maybe you can figure out another act and try again! Great job Rachel and I bet you'll inspire many others with your talent.

I don't know you, but as an educator in upper elementary grades, a Speech and Debate coach, and especially as a parent; I am extremely proud of you. I liked the quick change that she did behind Teller's back. I hope she goes very far, but that part will only work as along as she has someone much larger than herself to stand behind. But, to have combined the card trick with the quick change was very inventive. She is everything Penn & Teller said she was and more. What a great kid!!!
I'm more than twice your age and I'm still impressed by how you built on a classic trick to make it your own! I had a rough idea of how the dots were added, but you lost me when the dots became whole. Knowing me, I'm probably overthinking it, so hand on heart, you fooled me! Great job!

That was a great routine. It reminds me of Asi Wind's performance of Fool Us. He had the best performance in Fool Us history imo so I really mean that as a big compliment.

Great act, this done by an old magician would be cool but considering your short age its more than cool, as Penn said, it shows the future of magic, I nearly got tears watching the standing ovation, well deserved.
