      👋 Hello! I had the same problem as you do My skin is dry and prone to cystic acne! I posted My Skincare routine for both Day and Night up above in the comments, for a Lady I was talking to in the Live Chat before it cut off. I didn't get a chance to post it to Her before it cut off. If You would like to read it, maybe some of it would also help You! As it sounds like we have the same Skin type and problem's. It's also very affordable as I'm a cheap ass 😂. I have absolutely NO acne anymore I have literally achieved the glass skin everyone talks about and I'm so thankful it took a lot of work I won't lie this was about a Year's journey to get here and I have no breakouts anymore but I follow my routine viciously I do not differ away from it even if I'm tired or even if I'm running late I still make time to follow this routine! Throughout the year some of my products change as I do change up my routine about three times a year but the one that I have listed for day and night but I'm doing right now I think would greatly benefit you if you can't do all of those steps I think some of them would be very helpful for you and it's also very affordable as I said I'm cheap LOL but one thing I want to add that's very important is you have to use sunscreen every single day of the year doesn't matter if it's January or July doesn't matter if it's cloudy or full-on sun shining desert outside if you do not use sunscreen every single day there's no point in doing anything in a skincare routine that I can tell you! And if you don't like the way that sunscreen feels on your skin because I didn't either then please use the recommendations on sunscreen that I listed I think that you will love them because they do not make my face oily or shiny I am also fair skin as it looks that you are too? I hope that helps and it is a very affordable skin care routine You can even use Klarna at Sephora so that if you don't have all the money right away you just make payments every two weeks that would help you as well I hope this helps Dear and good luck I promise my skin was horrendous before I started using these products honest truth I wouldn't steer you in the wrong direction because I don't want anyone to suffer the way that I did or that you seem to be as well

I once bought another cleanser and I loved it, I looked the ingredients and it was lactic acid based so I stopped using the AHA BHA peel and switched to lactic acid 5% and I use it once in every 3 days, it doesn't give extremely amazing job but it does something, doesn't break me out and especially doesn't dry out my skin

      I really like The Ordinary 10% lactic acid. I started with the 5% but it wasn't potent enough for my troubled areas, so I upped to the 10% lactic acid. If it feels too strong on a particular day, I'll add hyaluronic acid serum over it. I like it can be left on for only 10min if it feels too strong. I also want to qualify I have very sensitive skin.

    Loved this video😍😍 I’ve been using the niacinamide + zinc treatment for the last month and a half and that specific product has been really good in smoothing out my acne making them less protruding. ( I’ve also noticed it’s also really helped for PREVENTING FLARE UPS ) So I’ve been looking into the squalane based salicylic acid in an attempt to rid myself of any leftover acne. I’m super excited that theres squalane based serum. My main problem with over the counter products for me or even prescribed is the super drying affect of salicylic acid. Back when I was a skincare noobie I just stuck to face washing and topical acne creams, zero oils so my face would be so dry I had eventually given up on treating my acne at home. Love the ordinary community! I think tomorrow I’ll go ahead and try this one!! 😄 Super excited

  • @ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293

    That whiteness you mention instantly reminded me of one of those products NOBODY in the land of RUclips skincare & beauty EVER name checks: Clinique's Anti-Blemish Toner. It also has a whiteness that separates and settles at the bottom on the bottle; you shake'n'mix before use. Maybe it's not made anymore? But their 3-step skincare's second step (their numbered toner lotions) NEVER get mentioned. Number 4 has the highest salicylic acid percentage. It's not drying, but like most active, targeted treatment ingredients it's nice to let your skin get used to its presence and start at, say, number 2. I wouldn't splash it on the way people do with Korean and Japanese lotions as they're not 'essences' but chemical exfoliators (or toners, as we've traditionally understood and used them in the West). Best to drench a cotton pad and swipe it over your skin, letting it air dry. Does anybody else wonder why these products are overlooked on YT and social media?
    PS= The one make up brand that was completely and totally ignored, never namechecked or included in a tutorial is The Look by Napoleon Perdis. I found that the most compelling mystery of all, especially if you're familiar with the brand, it's products and history; they were doing what nobody (but maybe MAC) was doing back in the 1990s so in that way, were at the vanguard of artist-led make up products. A very strange snub, and even stranger that nobody talks about it, analyses it or cares. Sorry for the long comment! Loved this upload, thanks Cassandra.

    I could feel some subtle difference when I'am using the Salicylic acid in Squalane. It tends to give me a good health glow on the next day, and I can see the skin texture smoothen in few weeks. The application can be tricky, four to five drops is good enough on my skin after moisturising.

    For BHA I use the Paulas Choice and love it. It goes well with my skin and doesn't irritate it.
    But that was a very interesting video and I think it is absolutely strange to just take it off the shelves without a word, then introduce the anhydrous version and then suddenly: hallo here is the not so original product again. Confusing 🤷‍♀️

    Hot tip for scalp/hairline pimples: look for shampoos meant for psoriasis and/or dandruff. Check the labels carefully as ingredients vary widely, but they may have salicylic acid as their active ingredient. There is one made by Kenkoderm for Psoriasis that is awesome. If I end up trying a new hair product that ends up in a pimple convention starting on my scalp, a few days of shampooing with that works wonders. Just remember to follow up with conditioner(s) afterward as it is very drying to the actual hair.

    one thing about aha and bha that no one seems to talk about is the blotchiness it can cause. my face never exfoliates evenly, leaving patches of lighter skin bc i'm tan. so i stopped using anything drying on my oily acne prone (and otherwise resilient) skin and have been fine since🤙🏽

    • @DungNguyen-ti9dk

      Both aha and Bha make my skin so irritated. I find my skin in best condition with a simplified routine: a cleanser, sunscreen and moisturiser. Occasionally I would use B5 serum (mostly in winter or when I spend a long time under the sun). I’m thinking of trying retinol out but a little bit afraid. Trending items don’t always do wonder to me so I haven’t try anything new for a year.

My partner and I both have dry skin (I can say that my T-zone can be a bit oily sometimes, and i have acne), and for him, his face is flakey, red, rarely has pimples on it. At the moment we are using The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, HaruHaru Toner, and The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA + a drop of the Inkey List Squalane for him, and for me, I add The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. I also bought for myself SA 2% Anhydrous Solution. Goin well so far. :)

      Many times Zinc which is in the naicinamide serum can be drying. Also check out good molecules. I really like some of there products for my dry skin. Especially there hylaronic acid, it's my holy grail. For your partner, since he has dry skin, I'd recommend hylaronic acid serum, hydrating and soothing ingredients like centella asiática, oat extract and use a very thick and hydrating moisturizer. I feel like the moisturizing factors may not be enough for the dry skin. But some moistuizers I'd recommend is cerave cream, la Roche POSAY moisturizers, skinfix moisturizer and first aid beauty one is good too. Also some serum that I think would be good are a azelaic acid serum helps with redness and acne, Aveeno calm and restore(has oat extract), this some is good for dry and sensitive skin and the cocokind Ceramides serum!

      I love that you've got him on a good skincare regime! I'm still trying to convince my brothers that moisturiser is not the devil 🤣
      I'd be inclined to swap in an "oilier" oil (thicker?! heavier? what am i trying to say here?!) than Squalene to his routine and see if that helps at all. The NMF is perfect for covering the basics but you probably want to add a little something extra over the top to lock in the moisture if you're still experiencing dryness - personally I love Rosehip oil (The Ordinary & The Inkey List both have one and they're about the same price) or the 'B' oil from The Ordinary is a nice blend of oils if you're not sure where to start/which oil to go for. Or, if he doesn't like the idea of a heavier oil (my brothers would NEVER!! Repeat after me bro - "oil is not evil" 😂) you could try a heavier moisturiser - maybe something like Weleda Skin Food (it's so thick I have to warm it up in my hands and pat it on, lol, plus if it doesn't work out for him it makes a great all-purpose dry skin cream for hands, elbows, cuticles etc) or La Roche Posay Cicabalm/Nutritic Intense line.
      And just in case you're feeling left out of the oily goodness - Sea-Buckthorn oil can work wonders for acne-prone skin, it has more of a "dry-oil" texture so it's not a super greasy feeling and is great for inflammation! Be warned though - the one from The Ordinary is a HILARIOUSLY bright orange colour - reserved for night time only on my very pasty skin!!
      Apologies for the essay - I just enjoy sharing the skincare love.

    This burnt me so much that my doctor thought it was Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (I had recently started a new unrelated medication) and sent me to hospital.
    I did not even care about the blisters or even potential SJS but I had started that medication after my father suddenly died - and I did *not* want to be back in that same hospital. It was very upsetting.
    I was not a salicylic acid newbie either - I had used Paula's Choice exfoliant night and day for a year or two and was not using any other actives at that time.
    Zero idea why my skin reacted so badly except, perhaps, from stress of sudden bereavement. I still have pitted scarring on my chin and around hairline from the blisters.

    I use the clear bottle every single day. I'm a model and performer who wears and sweats in insanely thick makeup. I'm 25 and just got acne for the first time 4 months ago. It works insanely well. The first 2 months was finding products that worked. This salicylic acid as well as FAB's and also FAB's white clay wipes are eating my bank account lol. It's the only thing that's keeping my face under control. I feel like I'm winning the war. I use this and Natural Moisturizing Factors on top everywhere I'm breaking out and use my regular fluffy moisturizer on my eyes, forehead, thin nose skin, neck, anywhere where there are no active breakouts.

    • @darkwebgirl
      @darkwebgirl 2 года назад

      This comment isn't really helpful without adding my skin type. I don't have oily skin at all. It's always been normal to dry, my entire life, mostly normal and VERY dry throughout winters. It is also EXTREMELY sensitive. My acne started in early March in NYC, still pretty cold out. Considering my environment is rough and what I put my skin through is a special kind of rough for work, I do not find this to be too harsh on my skin. When I started using it, I wasn't applying moisturizer over it after it dried because I was too scared to spread it around or mess with its formula on the spots I needed it to be, so my skin was drier than normal. Once again, this + the Natural Moisturizing Factors does wonder for my skin, despite never having acne before my 25th year I've always had the type of sensitive skin where if I just go pick a drugstore moisturizer up and try it on, it breaks me out. Drunk elephant breaks me out, plenty of products break me out, but this moisturizer is great. Just make sure the serum fully dries before you apply it so it stays and soaks into the concentrated area you desire. If you do it wet it's just gonna spread around all over your face in your moisturizer while you apply.

    • @darkwebgirl
      @darkwebgirl 2 года назад

      I also do not feel like it is supposed to be frothy or foamy...I rub it slowly over my skin and allow it to soak in. It only becomes foamy if you rapidly spread it and spread too thin of an amount over too big of an area...idek how she's getting it like that but that's disgusting and if it looks like that on my face I know I've used too little and rubbed it too much. Ew.

After years without acne (very different from rosacea’s temporary red bumps) I developed a single pimple on my chin and it resolved very slowly with a Korean salicylic acid patch (no percentage listed, but it had to have been less than 0.5% because it was from Korea). After a second pimple on my chin I added the reformulated 2% salicylic acid to my Ordinary order. I have only used the teeniest tiniest amount to spot treat with good results and no problems. After watching your explanation, maybe I should have tried the anhydrous version, but I had watched a not-so-favorable review.

    I just bought the ordinary Salicylic acid 2 percent anhydrous, Niacinamide 10% + zinc 1%, Glycolic acid 7% Exfoliating toner and the rose hip oil. My question is to know what can I or cannot mix, what time of the day do I use the product and how often.
    I use the clarins gentle cleanser, their hydrating toner, the double serum and the multi active day and night creams.

    I adored the original, my skin has never been as good as the maybe five months I used it nightly: I didn't always use it straight but I never left it on for as long as they suggested the max time for because of how frequently I wanted to use it. I think once I left it on for five minutes on a weekend? I usually just used it for a few minutes. Plus I religiously use sunscreen during the day and moisturized heavily after using the salicylic acid. I have really dry thin skin, I probably have PCOS and hormonal acne, and my skin really thrived on the old formula in combo with how i used it. I didn't know they finally sold these so I definitely need to buy both now to try. I bloody love squalane so I imagine the new version will be great for me.
