People need to keep in mind that when you start a skin routine, you need to give it 6 weeks. Your skin will look worse(purge) before it looks better. It's not a fast process but you gotta stick with it and be patient. Alot of people give up after 2 weeks because their skin breaks out but you gotta push past it.
Thank you so much!!! I actually gonna give up of using salicylic acid cuz I experience purging right now so yeah, but thanks god I saw ur comment... thanks!!!
Thx I just started using niacinamide twice last week due to me having bad hyperpigmentation + line marks and uneven skintone and started to experience few break out and using salicylic this week. Im starting slow just to avoid further break out
It depends, I don't believe in skin purging unless it is a skin care given as a prescription by a dermatologist and they already mention purging as a side effect. Especially if the purging is not in a form of acne or white/blackheads. I would prefer to stop using the product.
@@AnnaBrown99this was my experience with Tretinoin when prescribed it and started using it. I was warned it would cause acne under the skin to surface, but that after 4 weeks the acne would start to calm down which it did. But I agree if it red and irritated and lots of peeling you don’t push thru that.
Benzoyl peroxide has actually cleared my cystic acne and prevents bacteria from forming. Salicylic acid isn’t as effective but it works best for me in toners or chemical treatments. I would suggest incorporating both if you have acne but you will also need a good moisturizer and hydrating serum 😊
@sorenvekaria9779 I feel like salicylic acid works best for textural irregularities (at least from my experience it along with niacinamide Helps with enlarged pores too),rough bumpy skin and congested pores, while benzoyl peroxide works to kill the active acne itself as well as the acne causing bacterial especially cysts

Couple Salicylic Acid with Benzoyl Peroxide, and you have a winner!! Combining these together has cleared my acne completely. I use Salicylic Acid soap in the morning, and Benzoyl Peroxide paste at night. Now I only get ONE pimple every once in awhile, and it goes away far more quickly. This combo has kept new acne from coming in. I also use Frankincense and myrrh soap (at night with the benzoyl peroxide), and aloe vera moisturizer twice a day, and it's been a game changer. After my acne cleared, I was left with very noticeable acne scarring, but the frankincense/myrrh soap and aloe vera moisturizer are slowly but surely fading away the scars! Using cold water only has made it even better in reducing the inflammation and redness in my face. It's all a slow process, but it's well worth it!
No sunscreen ? This is my third week on benzoyl peroxide (i use gel at night ) i clean twice a day with cerave foaming gel and apply spf50 sunscreen that contains moisturizer , first week i saw improvment little " then the second and third week i got cysts under the skin on my cheeks ,jaw and near my ear ( i rarely get pimples near my ears ) and now im seeing improvements again and the cysts are going away slowly , i also have really bad scarring over lile 7 years now i realised i have to act fr . Im just not sure how much time i should give to this routine before i take accutane because i dont wanna waste time at all .
I use a SA cleanser everyday. Then 2% SA solution every week. And also 7% glycolic acid toner every week. Don’t over exfoliate because it will damage your skin barrier and makes you super sensitive. I also use Vitamin C to lighten hyperpigmentation from acne scars. Its working great.
Salicylic acid is good but it doesn’t prevent new acne from forming. For oily skin, keep your routine simple, respect your skin and don’t be over aggressive with it. If you can handle the side effects, use Tretinoin and a moisturiser as a buffer like Cerave. And that’s it. Personally, I couldn’t handle the tension headaches from tret, so I’m now using Azelaic acid, which is doing okay. It depends on your skin type and concerns as well as the product and what else you are using in your routine. Those who are experiencing acne can use it more often, if you just experiencing mild blackheads etc you can use it 2-3 x weekly. Start off 2-3 x weekly, and see how your skin is.

Just started using neutrogena oil free face wash 2x a day with 2% Salicylic acid if I’m correct. With a neutrogena moisturizer my skin is soft but still bumpy of course it’s gonna be though cause it’s only been 2days. But I was just wondering how long will it take for my skin to get smoother?. Sorry for wasting anybodys time.
You are not wasting anyone's time, we love your questions and are here to help :) You won't notice the best results unfortunately with a cleanser with 2% salicylic acid, as cleanser's are not on the skin long enough to penetrate as deep into the skin. You are better off with BHA liquid exfoliant which you leave on the skin. You may experience skin purging and that's when your skin breakouts more than usual due to using active ingredients on the skin. This is a good thing as the product is doing it's job and can last 4-6 weeks. You will start to notice results between 6-12 weeks. However you will need to look at also adding different ingredients. Salicylic acid is the best exfoliating ingredient for Acne, beside retinol. I highly recommend you to watch these 2 videos on Acne Skincare Routines. They are both very affordable brands and will give you much better results than Neutrogena. 1. BEST Paula's Choice Acne Skincare Routine ruclips.net/video/zF91cFj29ZU/видео.html 2. I’ve been using the pink grapefruit version for the last 5 weeks and it’s completely lifted all of my congestion and blackheads out of my pores. I leave it on the skin for 3-5 minutes and then follow up with a moisturiser of course and that’s all I use. It has blasted all of my congestion/blackheads and has made my skin smooth with no texture and less acne. Skinzone is completely wrong in saying that these cleansers are not effective and don’t “penetrate” the skin because they’re not on the skin long enough that’s false.
@@williamk7035 Hi William, sounds great you are having great results with your pink grapefruit exfoliant. You are leaving it on for 3-5minutes which is perfect. Salicylic acid penetrates deeper into the epidermis as it is oil soluble to work from the inside out but it needs to be on the skin long enough to actually do anything. Cleansers are to balance the skin's PH, remove excess oil, dirt and sweat from the day. When you cleanse you are only leaving the product on the skin for 30seconds at the most, unless you are leaving it on for 2-3minutes - which the common person does not. Compared to a stay on liquid exfoliant, the results from using a cleanser that contains salicylic acid will not be as effective and that is why we recommend a liquid exfoliant that contains salicylic acid over a cleanser.
It depends on the product you have chosen as quality and formulation make a big difference. Generally you’ll start to see a result with salicylic acid 4-6 weeks but again it depends on a number of factors - the state of your skin, what you are using in your routine with it etc x
After using Neutrogena 0.5 salicylic acid moisture for one month i am having acne breakout from last two weaks. It is from this product? Should i use or discontinou?
Salicylic acid did nothing for my level 3-4 cystic acne. It only make my skin drier & flakier. Gycolic acid was more effective, but only to a certain extent. The only thing that helped me was a round of accutane (8 months) & using perscription topical retonal cream for superficial scarring.
I think Accutane is probably the most effective medication for most types of Acne and/or oily skin. I wish they had this when I was in middle school in the 1960s!
I bought salicylic acid from the pharmacy just for 5 euros and it works amazing under any moisturizer, you don't have to pay 150$ for such products that have it, of course, those products might contain good moisturizer and vitamins as well, but you don't have to go so expensive to get it.
I just started using cerave blemish control cleanser. My skin type is oily acne prone. Can i use it every night or is it better only 2x a week (monday and friday)?
Ik this late but it will dry you out worse if you don't moisturize after using (i like vaseline because it doesn't clog pours) but as long as you do that SA is amazing
Hey! depends on the product you are using. You may also experience skin purging (breakouts) for 4-6 weeks if you have congestion underneath your skin which is normal. With consistent use once to twice weekly - you will start to see an improvement. It will also come down to other skincare products you are using in your routine

You should use sunscreen first and stay away from sun
you must switch to LACTIC ACID SERUM as it is a gentle exfoliant

It depends on your skin type and concerns as well as the product and what else you are using in your routine. Those who are experiencing acne can use it more often, if you just experiencing mild blackheads etc you can use it 2-3 x weekly. Start off 2-3 x weekly, and see how your skin is.
does salicylic acid help in reducing acne scars?
Does it work on acne scars

Yes you most likely are experiencing skin purging which can last 4-6 weeks. Completely normal and the product is doing it’s job! Your skin will clear up

Can salicylic acid be combined with nacinamide?
If it's serums we recommend to use them seperately.
It depends on the brand formulation. Some brands say you can layer with niacinamide, and some brands say you shouldn't and too use it seperately.
What is your routine? and what brands do you use? xx
Is it okay to use Paula’s choice 2% BHA twice a week only at night? Or should I use it twice a week morning and night?I’m purging right now but I trust the process. Thanks in advance for answering me
Twice a week at night :) we have a video out on monday on this product!
How to use salicylic acid?i have cystic acne in my chin and forehead area. What other skincare to use
I’m not an expert, but from experience I’d suggest brands like clean&clear, Garnier and Cera Ve. Hope this helps 🤗
You are not wasting anyone's time, we love your questions and are here to help :)
You won't notice the best results unfortunately with a cleanser with 2% salicylic acid, as cleanser's are not on the skin long enough to penetrate as deep into the skin.

@@SkinZoneTV thank you!❤️
I’ve been using the pink grapefruit version for the last 5 weeks and it’s completely lifted all of my congestion and blackheads out of my pores.
@@SkinZoneTV I agree that a leave on will provide quicker results but are you saying the BHA in a cleanser isn't effective? Show me.
Hardly anyone tells us how long these products take to see results.
It depends on the product you have chosen as quality and formulation make a big difference. Generally you’ll start to see a result with salicylic acid 4-6 weeks but again it depends on a number of factors - the state of your skin, what you are using in your routine with it etc x
Plz make more videos about cheek acnes
Will put it on the list x
Thank u honey
After using Neutrogena 0.5 salicylic acid moisture for one month i am having acne breakout from last two weaks. It is from this product? Should i use or discontinou?
Can I use salicylic acid serum for whitehead?
Yes
Can i use it daily?
Hi, Mam can i use Vitamin C face serum after Salicylic acid face cleanser?
Yes because you wash off the cleanser
@@SkinZoneTV thank you mam 😀
Salicylic acid did nothing for my level 3-4 cystic acne. It only make my skin drier & flakier. Gycolic acid was more effective, but only to a certain extent. The only thing that helped me was a round of accutane (8 months) & using perscription topical retonal cream for superficial scarring.
I think Accutane is probably the most effective medication for most types of Acne and/or oily skin. I wish they had this when I was in middle school in the 1960s!

Hi. You can go out on salicylic acid
Cleansers should be used daily but if you find it too drying switch to a different cleanser
Can i really try this to cure acne can someone please tell me
Is this acid ok for dry skin with sun damaged scaly little areas ?
Ik this late but it will dry you out worse if you don't moisturize after using (i like vaseline because it doesn't clog pours) but as long as you do that SA is amazing

how long would it take to start seeing some results?
Hey! depends on the product you are using. You may also experience skin purging (breakouts) for 4-6 weeks if you have congestion underneath your skin which is normal.
With consistent use once to twice weekly - you will start to see an improvement. It will also come down to other skincare products you are using in your routine
Can we use salicylic acid 2% face wash on daily based day and night

Hello. I bought the Ordinary hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid and niacinamide. I have oily skin, a lot of blackheads in the T zone, open pores and small scars on my cheeks. Could you tell me what could be my skin care routine?
Your channel is great. You've got a new subscriber.
Hi. Has your Ordinary Salicylic Acid helped with your blackheads? I struggle with the same thing and I am trying to find a solution.
@@zuemoraa3777 It has helped me more on the cheeks than on the nose. I use it twice a week.
I have normal to dry skin type can i use the ordinary salicylic acid 2%?
Yes you can but generally for dry skin lactic acid or glycolic acid is recommended. Or a serum that contains a mix between aha’s and bha’s
Can anyone tell me that how to do patch test for moisturizer for my combination skin?
Hi, can I use 0.5% salicylic acid daily in the morning? Is it actually increase sensitivity to the sun? I've heard that SA is photoprotective is it true? Thanks!
You only need to use an exfoliant once to twice a week. So daily is over doing it! Yes it does increase sensitivity to the sun, ensure you where sunscreen daily.
@@SkinZoneTV Ah Okay, thank you so much!
There is 3 % salicylic acid in some shampoos that are for psoriasis of the scalp.
heyy hii. i am using 2% salicylic cleanser on my oily face. can i use 2% salicylic serum after using that cleanser at night
Also I use vitimin c moisturizer am and pm
yes but you don't need to use salicylic acid serum every day, 2 x a week will be plenty in the evening. Since you are already using a cleanser with SA in it

Combination of salicyalic acid n niacinamide works like a magic. I used both the serums from the brand called minimalist. It really cleared my acne n blackheads.
Is it work for white heads?
I've been using salicylic acid and benzoyl for nearly a year now and I still have a lot of acne on my forehead and some on my cheek. I use those two ingredients in pretty high (?) concentrations like 10%. I'm currently using the cleaners but no improvement yet! What products can help me instead? 😢

hello i am using salicylic acid 2%, and my skin starts to dry is it okay if I peel it or should i wait how many days until i am able to peel it?
Hey, Do not peel your skin! It Sounds like your skin needs moisture. Are you moisturising? And how often are you exfoliating? Max 2x per week is plenty.
Hey! Even I started using it my flaks are developing and it is getting peeled is that okay....how many days did it take to get normal completely??
2% Salicylic acid can be in toners as well, how often can I use it?
Can I use salicylic acid and lactic acid together?
Yes they can! It’s normally fine to use daily in toners, the product label should tell you how often to use. Yes you can use lactic acid with salicylic acid, they work great together. A lot of brands pair them together in their formulations

Hi I used the salicylic acid, 2 days in I stated having more acne worst than it was should I keep using ?
It’s probably a purge. The purging is that hardest thing to go through because it lasts 4-6 weeks. Just make sure you don’t use it more than 3x per week when starting off.
