Andrzej Conner I've had the cac boots come off twice. Both times, they were installed by shop incorrectly. Ford manual states to clean tube and boot with brake cleaner then install and torque. I cleaned with damp rag and soapy water then wiped clean. Torque to required values and have never had one pop off. I believe the key is proper cleaning followed by proper torque. I used inch pound torque wrench and couldn't believe how tight these things need to be. My guess is most people use screwdriver and under torque.
It's a Cummins, what would you use? The red is expensive as hell and has a notoriously short life, not to mention it creates deposits in the water jacket. Same with yellow. Orange dex would be pointless. And I 100% assure you that the warranty from industrial injection states what needs to be used. Different gaskets require different glycol makeups. Ever wonder why gm uses dex and basically everyone else (other than European)? It depends on the makeup of the gasketing material. Hence, why when you put ethylene glycol in a gm engine you are guaranteed to blow a head gasket. It will eat away the gasketing composition.
Andrzej Conner thats not true u can run green coolant in the gm vehicles no problems at all as long as u flush out dex cool the reason they run elc coolants or organic coolants in most vehicles is 90 percent of the tim an enviromentally friendly move pushed by our goverment there are some vehicles were u need a special kind of coolant for example a 6.0 powerstroke cant use regular coolants because of the high temperatures from the egr cooler cause the silacates to seperate and plug your oil cooler causeing a whole bunch of failures
My dream Towing rig. Nice job.
what did you use for a power steering pump
I used the dodge power steering pump and hoses and then cut and crimped the ford ends to them.
I am a Dodge guy but this came out nice good work man! And it looks really good
What type of paint did you use on the motor/head and how is it holding up to the heat so far ? Looks sharp in red !
It was painted by industrial injection before I got the engine.. but it has taken a beating being in a work truck
you have the egt probe in the downpipe, thats why your egts are low
I don't see how the coolant jug keeps from breaking with it bolted to the firewall and motor together. Doesn't your motor torque?
Bocephus I have not had one break yet.. I have 4 of these trucks swapped now and never had a problem with the coolant reservoir..
Thanks for the upload. Great cummins swap
ya I know. I moved it in to the manifold after I used a temp gun to check if it was accurate. and I also put on a water meth kit.
Mind if I ask how much $ you have in the swap? Obviously you had an engine built, so that gets expensive.
Where do you guys find these motors? Looking to start a project with one but trying to find the motor to start
Check Ebay they have tons r L.K.Q.
Curious how long it took to make the swap.
How many mpg do you get on this beast???
Horsepower doesn't break anything. It's the torque you create which is considerably higher in a 12v Cummins than an equally HP rated powerstroke.
what did you use for the throttle a cable or the ford electric foot throttle
I have a 2008 F250 with the 12 valve conversion on it to. Urs turned out prettier than mine lol
Dakota Woodard you have any pics or vids? I’m looking to the same thing
How much did you pay for the motor?
What size 12 or 14 cm exhaust housing o turbo
Nice job love the old 12 valve.
nice neat job
excellent conversion fummins 450
Nice manifold.
Yeah I noticed it too 😅
If only I could . . .

Use hairspray on the cac boots next time, never had one let go since I learned that trick

Didn't know sling blade was good with motors lol
You don't know alot of things then.
Need a better air filter
Matty Tac they work surprisingly well just gotta clean em a decent amount they flow a bunch just don’t filter a ton.
