2:33 Love the tip to fold and finger press for a sewing line. Never seen this tip before, but definitely going to be using it on my next jelly roll project! Suggest also sewing a 2nd seam 1/2” over from the sewing line, then cutting on the fold line. Then you’ll have a whole bunch of HST’s, rather than triangle scraps. 😉
I didn’t know about cutting them in half and about adding the flange Ann’s border - I really like this a lot! This will be my next jelly roll race - thank you 😊
I've made a number of these quilt tops. They're so much fun! But I save the triangle pieces that I cut from the seams and I use them to applique pretty designs.
Great tip about the folding. I always mess up when trying to sew on the angle. Now you've given me a great cure foe my error! Thank you for this most useful tip.
I’ve never seen this done using half strips, what a great idea. I have resisted doing the jelly roll race in the past but now that I have seen the result using ha,f strips I will give it a go. William Morris fabric is beautiful. 💕
Me too! I didn't love the result of the jelly roll race with the full strips because I felt the colors generally weren't spread out enough, but I love the result with the half strips!!
I'm a new viewer from san antonio tx. Love your tutorial. Came upon your tutorial looking for jelly roll race. You explain the sewing that is easy.thank you
IS there batting in this? It's just that you don't mention it so I wanted to know for sure. Yes, the top of a quilt is always easy to make, it is the batting, the backing and the binding that require most of the work. Wish you had shown the whole process. Thanks in advance for a reply.
What a beautiful quilt! I love jelly rolls but never thought to cut them in half. Is this quilt made with one jelly roll or two? Great tutorial, thank you!
Love this tutorial! The pressing tip was awesome. Have done one with cutting strips in half but am wondering how to go about making a small one like baby quilt or lap top. Do you measure to size you want and cut. I saw one tutorial to make bigger but not smaller.
Thank you so much for sharing, Im trying this, you made it look so easy. I Love it!, Can I ask where you purchased the sewing black light attached to your machine please?
I like your Jelly Roll quilts and tips. How do you do the flange? I call it a flange but I think you referred to it as a "filet"... Thank you for the video 😊👍 💕
I live in Canada and I have purchased material and used the word fillet and no one knows what I’m talking about😅. My first exposure to the word, in sewing, was by watching Katrina at The Sewing Studio. I have since discovered that North American stitchers refers to the band of separation, as a flange. Too late, I’m a fillet person! 😂
Hi Linda, Not sure what you mean by bad spots. Katrina did a tutorial on how to bat and finish a quilt here: ruclips.net/video/mAMjnUpGbsA/видео.html Hope this will help.
Clearest jelly race tutorial I've found thank you so much. Also, I'm sorta allergic to Christmas but I really love that quilt there !
This is the first tutorial I’ve seen where they cut the jelly rolls in half. Never thought of it, but I like it so much better!!!

Absolutely gorgeous quilt! You’re so talented.
Lovely quilt!
Such a lovely quilt! Thank you for sharing!
Love this jelly roll race quilt! Looking forward to the project using those little bits that you cut off each strip. Thanks for this tutorial!

OMG, folding over the corner is a game changer!!
Clever tip to fold and make a crease line to sew! I love this tip! So helpful especially for teaching newbies.
Good video. Moves right along. Interesting content. Thank you.
I love the angled joints, that really adds a lot to the top!
Please, can you tell me what it was that you cut at the end of the first set of strips together?
Wow, gonna try this one, as I’m an old beginner lol

I love the half strip look! Did you just repeat the order of the fabrics and repeat twice? Or how did you mix them?
Hi want to do it in a lap quilt size. What be the best size.
How many jelly rolls did you use to make that large of a quilt? My race quilt came out crib/toddler bed size.

Really great tips! How may jelly rolls did you use for the Christmas Quilt? Thanx from Annette/Munich
This is the fastest quilt to make
Do you put wadding in between the layers? If so which one do you use …thanks xx Xx Dottie xx
I'm curious about your sewing machine light. I don't see it on your website. Is it available for sale?
Hi Linda, This is a camera.

How big is the finished quilt?
would it be possible to say the dimensions of the quilt topper produced in the video? or at least how many rows are in the final piece?
I tried making a quilt like yourself but when I put batting and backing I found lots of bad spots. I’m new at this what could I have done wrong.
