Just for information: you keep hearing Charles for most of the playtrough because he's programmed in such a way that he's always close to you, but now always close enough to become aggressive. So all the encounters you have with him or the sightings are completely random except for a few ones
ya the only scripted chases with Charles is the intro and the final boss mission
Imagine Charles would wonder as well and you could try and predict where he’s going. Even better, imagine hard mode where he has nextbot ai

IGP thanks for giving this game exposure, IGN gave the game a brutally savage review by treating it as an AA/AAA title... even tho it was a solo dev who was suuuper transparent in his vlogs :(

This game went from a silly ideal to a full build and I absolutely love the strive and dedication the developer had towards the vision of being in a true nightmare!

I think it was one dev. But he obviously used a ton of store-bought assets. Probably very little of what we see in game is his own work apart from the mechanics tbh. One person wouldnt be able to put out good game and make all the great assets at the same time.

@@linnonline whats rude? Telling the truth? One person wouldnt be able to put so much assets and make a great finished game with open world in such short amount of time. Even the creator said they are store bought, he highlights it in his videos. Game is still fun. Thats where effort went. No need to pretend like we cant see its super indie game hidden a little with Unreal making everything look realistic.

I understand how hard it is too actually start being a game dev having created a couple of home projects myself on Unity & UE5 and even with a degree in Computer Science it's tough man. But the mechanics look solid for sure and the game looks like it would be a blast too play, so that's all that matters right?

For those who didn't catch it every time you upgrade the armor on the train it changes the look which I think is really cool that their actual physical changes to your vehicle fully maxed out like it is now it has spikes along the bottom edges and horns on the front it is really badass

It’s refreshing to see a horror situation where not only everyone stays sane and rational, you’re not all alone and trying to kill Charles by the skin of your teeth.

I followed this guys process of making this game. Pretty crazy he made a better game by himself than a lot of full companies can make today w hundreds of ppl working on it.
Well I wouldn’t say that, even the worst triple A titles have more content or playtime than this… but I understand what you mean. It’s impressive how much passion and polish went into a one man project while AAA companies throw ridiculous amounts of money into a game no one wants or no dev wants to, passionately, work on.
@@Bro1212_ Ya it is kinda funny people d*ck riding the dev. Not to say that I don't think he deserves the praise, but it was literally a 2-3 hour game with minimal repetitive content. I still enjoyed it and I am happy to support the dev, but people need to stop kidding themselves.

This would be so much fun in multiplayer! One person drives and another person shoots
I adore all the little horror movie and game references throughout, that's very cute. Same for all the NPC dialogue where they say where their quest needs you to be, but also tell you they're going to mark it on your map anyways-- pretty funny nod to how silly both quest design in games can be and how blind players can be at the same time.

Genuinely shocked with how well this game turned out, I wasn't sure whether it could come close to what the trailer promised! Amazing job by the devs! So glad the game is making a splash among horror content creators, hope it translates into success for them and encourages more fun games like this one!
It's been a long time coming, and it's finally here. It was only fitting that a game where you can travel an open world in your own train to fight against an evil spider train was played by one of the best gamers there is, because quite frankly you did better than anyone else I've seen by far. I'm definitely picking this game up as soon as I'm able come Christmas time. Hats off to you and Gavin once again. :D🚂

After finally playing, running like an idiot and then breaking my headphones and my desk three separate times, I gotta say. I didn't expect so much, especially a big boss for Choo-choo Charles. And from a single dev, it's surprising that the hipe I was expecting was far beyond great. AMAZING
The creator put so much work in for a meme, but this is legit better than a while lot of company produced works made over longer periods of time xD

Wow, very early, Indie. Tbh you’re my favorite horror game let’s player right now and probably ever. I’ve been watching you for a while and there’s something very comforting about a guy who sticks to his roots. Markiplier seems to only make big cash grab projects now and jack doesn’t upload as much as you do (and his commentary is often too much/too hyper). You are the perfect balance of being engaged while being chill and reasonable for most things (except for when you regret everything). Keep on keeping on, you’re a treasure.
RIP Eugene, i’ve always had a soft spot for the old guys in stories and it makes me sad when they die

Charles gives me Reaper Leviathan vibes. Charles isn't trying to hide in the fog for scripted encounters, you can see him roaming in the distance, which makes it all the more terrifying when he spots you.
Imagine if they had some sort of multiplayer where you had to manage a larger train with different threats
The dev said that the map was made specifically for single player, and he also said that it’s pretty hard to program (or at least I think he said something like that).

The game is truly great, love the concept and all of these details with the ghosts or the swamp monster are just incredible, the editing made it even better, so terrifying

Am I the only one else that fells like this game can go places that other indie games dream of? Like seriously, this feels like SCP: Containment Breach but with a much more polished start (for those that don’t know what SCP is, look it up, Containment Breach is a decade old game that just kept growing and growing as the years went by. Some of the oldest records I know of are of either Pewdiepie or Markiplier, the later of which has played much more recent versions of that game).

This is honestly one of my favorite videos he’s made
Really smart with the horror tactics, gives you a scare early on and then makes you fear every corner, but doesn’t bring Charles out again for a while, it just gets you to scare yourself, while anticipating Charles.
I have been watching the development of this game for a while now. Im so excited that this game is finally here!
Some things I learned from my playthrough:
1. all structures are invincible, which means you are safe in them.
2. if you can hear Charles near you and you open your map, while it is zooming out, you can sometimes see where Charles is.
oh i am so excited for this video, after seing your original video on choo-choo charles i just KNEW id love to see your reaction to this absolute masterpiece of a like- 'meme' game becoming so much more and honestly quite horrifying

There should be a gamemode added where you dont have a train, and you just have to duck from building to building; stamina is unlimited, should be easy right? Part of whats terrifying is being forced to leave the train
Alternatively a mode where you cant upgrade the train's speed (or maybe you just get an open top train cart).
Wasn't this the game the dev made in a collab with another youtuber to see which one can make the scarier game? I believe the other game is set in a hotel or apartment with a giant snake chase at the end
