Okay hear me out. Hidden/tucked GPS. And a discrete kill switch.
That sounds like a a great idea for the average scumbag, but the higher end thieves know how to remove them without activating them
You could instal a manual interrupt wired in anywhere in the vehicle ignition harness and would take a thief hours to find - if ever. I’ve installed alarms and antitheft devices for years; the way to combat high end theft equipment is to do simple manual methods on top of the factory antitheft.
I have an apple air tag hidden in my Hayabusa and my new Silverado RST. They'll never find it or disable it. It notifies me if my vehicles move without me, and it gives me their locations 24/7.
Is the Apple AirTag good on movements? Like does it notify you as it’s happening or does it take a while for It to give you the exact location
I'm not sure on how responsive it is. Also, it uses the apple network, so it uses other apple devices in the area to track.@@raulc7293
@@raulc7293It doesn’t notify you if it moves. It’ll only notify you on location if it can be detected by another iPhone and will send you a notification if you leave it behind.
I heard it needs Bluetooth from iPhones to work. So if they take it to an area with no iPhones then you may not get update location. AirTags also beep. You have to remove speaker from them.
@@hoodlumcorp It's still a cheap easy way to keep track of your truck and see if it moves. It will notify you right away if it moves. I didn't say it was the perfect solution. def MUCH cheaper and easier than alarm/gps options.
You got me with the title, but on a real note, I live in the area and if I ever need to keep an eye out for your vehicles I certainly will!
My 2006 Silverado was stolen. I now have a 2016 4x4 Silverado 2500HD that I would rather not get stolen. It's heartbeaking to have your truck stolen...
Basic way to protect your truck: pull the fuel pump rely fuse. Most ppl don’t just carry random fuses
They can use a relay fuse right next to it that’s not important like windshield wipers or something
I would rather have a huge alarm on the truck when the car is broken into which might cause them to leave
I came across a guy who had his Horn Blasters train horn kit wired into his alarm…
Layers are always nice, this plus a loud on vehicle alarm, plus a kill switch located in a discreet location and they wont be driving off with your vehicle
For alot of these newer attacks, alarm wont mean anything. Thieves suck
@@zragevii4705 hence multiple layers of security, some layers may not work, but the more layers the better chance of thwarting attacks
Although it is a shame it's come to this wouldn't a hidden battery disconnect be a better option?
As a owner of a 20 Silverado I thank you for bringing this to light! Crazy stuff
Another easy way is to remove Al the fuses that require the car to start
I just checked it out. For about $60 I got the gadget and the remote install kit which is a port with a hot wire and ground you can put almost anywhere in your vehicle. Cheap at twice the price. Good find!
This was just a paid commercial for a sub par product. So many more effective ways to secure your vehicles.
They make obd2 splitters that allow you to have 2 obd2 ports on the same vehicle. Would be worth routing one up further under the dash with this plugged into it. If thieves can't see it they won't know to unplug it.
Just get a Ravelco
GM has something similar to that. You can get it installed from the dealer. They install a tracker in your truck or car and they don’t tell you or anybody where they put it. So if they break in and take it, it will track it down too it’s specific location. It’s not like the onstar where it’s just behind the rear view mirror
How much is it? I have a 2014 Silverado
Guys that broke into my daughters garage worked at diff dealers in same auto mall, they targeted her because her hellcat, gt500, and zl1...can even trust those folks. They destroyed her front gate, to get to garage doors, and destroyed those splitting the garage door panels and using a winch to pull them off.
@@TheGoodTheBadTheRowdy did they successfully steal the car(s) tho?
@@Kylewraps they got the chally and trackhawk started quickly/easily. They got distracted with other stuff in the garage they wanted to steal. One guys family tried suing, they lost, she sued back, and won lol. Now theyve been investigating the dealers the guys worked at. Their social spheres. Etc
@@TheGoodTheBadTheRowdy idk what a chally is and I’m assuming you said they both got caught and one got sued?
Easiest way to stop them; single or double hidden kill switch (DONT SHOW PEOPLE!!!) or have a pre-smog car, manual transmission (or better yet 3 on the tree), open headers, carburetor aka something that hates to start cold... basically something that makes them stick out like a sore thumb.
NOW, Magnuson Superchargers had their Prototype Camaro stolen a year or so ago, with someone actually driving it in the day time with a tied up hoodie.
good insurance policy is easiest.
This shit sucks. I also have a 2023 Silverado, 2022 Camaro SS1le and a C5 corvette. Unfortunately someone really wanted my SS1le and it was stolen and never found. It really sucks that someone just takes your stuff just like that.
2014 GMC 2500 HD. Obviously I’m here because I was just broken into. They punched my key mechanism on drivers door. They didn’t have time to steal anything but keys but they would have. How and why chose this method.
Is GMC in on it?. Just asking . So many trucks are being stolen. Did GMC sell the info .. they steal them easily. Are there any lawsuits against GMC? Just asking.
So does Carlock charge a fee to monitor the gpa tracker or is that all included when you buy it?
Let me tell you something... This product does absolutely nothing. If you think for one second that being notified is what will save your vehicle, you're being naive. All its gonna give you is quicker notification your vehicle is gone
Once they start it up and drive off (which you saw how fast that is), you're done. Getting woken up, notified, whatever is just for you to be upset sooner. You need to find ways to keep them from leaving with it in the first place, not some stupid notifications that does nothing to the actual event
Hidden device is the best also some way to disable the starter and fuel pump
I have a 2020 silverado 1500 that got stolen in HOUSTON TX 😢 no evidence left behind
my daughter had thieves destroy a gate to get to her garage door, and broke in to steal her trackhawk, chally red eye, gt500, and zl1. turned out the thieves were employees from the dealers she took her cars too. guess the guys worked in diff dealers in auto mall and targeted her. They had a 38spl and a 9mm pstl, she came into her garage seeing them grouped around the red eye, firearms in hand. They wanted to steal her small tool cart, her fishing equipment, and her sorinex cross fit stuff...her power tools...
My daughters also a Marine Veteran haha, she came into her garage after hearing loud noises expecting to maybe be a bear trying to get into garage due to smell from freezers, nope...thieves. She had her AK rfl in hand and as soon as they aimed their handguns, she mag dumped. All but one expired on way to hospital, survivor needs around the clock care, and poops in a bag. karma...
Can never be to careful!
God bless her. May the departed R.I.P. rot in hell.
bruh u had me for a sec lol. glad that it didnt happen for real
Had a kill switch on my previous Silverado and it was great, but then you lose remote start
Or just add a hidden fuel/ battery kill switch and a air tag and call it a day.
How do you feel about a battery kill switch on your 2020? Are there adverse effects to the vehicle should one be installed?
Fuel pump kill switch is better.
You should test if it will pick up if someone is trying to get your Catalytic convertor. The vibrations might cause it to trigger.
Cutting a cat off definitely would trigger the vibration sensor
My 2021 Silverado was stolen from a Best Buy parking lot
Just get a kill switch ,lok-it steering wheel column and air tags 😅
Yeah this technology been around for awhile, Honestly I wouldn't pay for Carlock because its so easy. As a Cyber Security Enginner/Programmer I can do anything I want to a BCM. I even reprogrammed my 2021 GMC Sierra to be completely unlock to do anything I want to do with the Truck and GM has even called me asking how I did it. Also what I would do is disconnect the battery because that will remove all alarm/codes, look at all OBD2 ports and onstars and remove it.
Also what I do in both of my cars is under my backseats, under the carpet I have a Tracker that I put in. So you have to know its back in the car or under neat something that is not in a normal place.
What suggestions do you have to keep the trucks from being stolen?
@@insideoutsideupsidedown2218 Honestly there is nothing that will prevent it, what I did was I put in a tracker underneath carpet or somewhere that is not in a normal spot to look for. But if theft wants it, they will get it and it will only be minutes on taking stuff off, since Powertools are so easy to get these days I can take off my tires in about 30seconds due to my Impact gun I have. So if they want it badly they will get it.
@John Harrison, I should rephrase. Other than maybe removing the fuel pump relay or something else, maybe parking in the garage is the best bet.
@@insideoutsideupsidedown2218 So I used to work at the University and so many cars got taken that was under the parking garage and students and staff was paying like 1500 a year for it.
Nice! Something to think about as well... a bluetooth enabled toggle switch or some such, wired off of start wire or whatever spliced into engine bay, hidden. Park car, flip switch via phone.. leave car.. come back, flip switch via phone :D
So instead of coming out and finding that your truck has been stolen, you can now know in real time that it’s being stolen and it will still be gone when you get to where it was. Great device.
Depends on the class of RV, but yes ✅
Park in the garage and have full coverage about all you can do if someone really wants your stuff there going to take it.
Sorry but that carlock is useless.. still can’t beat a kill switch…
Terrible device lol. A well placed kill switch will brick any vehicle.
IGLA is a more effective solution, but good video nonetheless.
Look at the compustar can do all that and disable the vehicle and much more
OR just use a stering wheel lock 🔐
To me that doesn't work put your own switch and do your own thing
Man I wish I knew about this a week ago.....
Last week someone stole my 01 GMC Sierra from my apartment parking lot. I woke up the next morning to meet my delivery driver, noticed something looked off. After a moment it finally registered that someone stole my truck...... Heart breaking..... So my next truck will most likely have this installed (or something similar!).
Thank you!
Any luck on getting it back or finding any info?
Put a kill switch they work
Remove the fuel pump relay
Bro! I was gasping thinking someone stole the OG! Don’t scare me like that!
I use a GPS tracker that does the same and it can be installed anywhere not just plugged in to OBD2 Port
Or just install a cut off switch 🤷🏽♂️
Great video my guy! I got LoJack installed on my truck , the dealership offered it and it has most of the same features
why not just get a kill switch along with this device?
I've had a brand new motorcycle stolen. It's a terrible feeling of immense vulnerability. I think I gotta look into this device to protect my wife's Kia which, apparently, are being stolen with USB cables
My truck was just stolen today 😢
Just got my today and used the promo code you provided. Thanks
Ravelco is what a lot of people I know use.
Reminds me of way back in the day when the Viper alarm would talk to you.
"don't steal from texans" that part killed me
So, this video was a 13 minute ad?
I catch someone stealing my truck they will be in front of a judge and not the one in the courtroom! Lol
Throttle controllers work great for this as well. Before you get out of the vehicle connect to the throttle controller via bluetooth and just turn your throttle off on the app on your phone, when you get back in turn the throttle back on via the app. So even if they have your actual fob they can't drive off because throttle literally does nothing. With the bluetooth and app option and no head unit for the actual controller there is no way I know of for them to even know you have one and why the vehicle won't move.
What brand/model should i look for?
@@sigbksddbd987edfni Ultimate 9 is what I use on my Silverado ZR2 and my wife's Camaro.
@@WildTurkey707 are you still using it? I’m thinking of buying one for my trailboss
@@StanleyYe7nats Yes I still have mine on my 2022 ZR2 and my wife on her 50th anniversary Camaro. Just left her Camaro in the airport parking lot for a week for a vacation feels great to disable the throttle for that period of time.
That’s wild. What happens if you disable throttle with app but lose the phone…. You’re screwed I guess?? Right?
They have OBD port cages that secures a plugged in device to the vehicle, making it more difficult to removed the device plugged in.
do you know what it is called?
My 2022 2500HD Z71 Crew Cab Long bed was stolen in Humble Texas on Wednesday, 20 Sep 23. I was about 30 feet away, and am PRETTY SURE this device would have woken me, and the thieves might not have succeeded... hell, might not have survived... this IS TEXAS!
Second amendment joined the chat 💬
my 2017 SS was stolen from my driveway. I left it outside for 2 nights because I was working on my other car. The only good thing is insurance paid me for the car than what I paid for it at the dealer. Your device is stupid is not going to save your vehicle. Im going back to old school with a hidden fuel kill switch and aftermarket alarm with separate back up battery.
Try a hidden Killswitch
Kill switches and gps track are fine and dandy but I refuse to get a nice fancy car unless I can park it in the garage and lock the garage every night. Get a “beater” car for work and other places where I don’t have a direct sight line to my car. I might be getting a wide body hell cat in a few months and that baby will not be leaving my sight! If it leaves the garage I will be in it or close by at all times. Now my 2013 Chevy Malibu?? They can have that 😂😂
Can't they just unplug that?
Get a RAVELCO. They tried to steal my truck in February of 2022. Lights and everything else was on but they could not turn the engine over. 😎
When I cancelled my o star the lady on the phone asked if I was sure because the Silverado was the most stolen vehicle in North America. 🤦🏼. Why not just put better security into the trucks then
That sucks big time 🙏✌️🇨🇦
That was clickbait as hell
My company has us install GPS devices on our fleet vans(Chevy 2500s). We had to put a Y adapter on the OBD2 port that added a second port which we tucked up behind the radio or anywhere, really. You would never know it was there. I wonder if this would work with that setup?
My auto theft deterrent is a manual truck which should do the job with most auto thieves being that they probably don’t know how to drive a manual nowadays
This should have been a 30 sec or 1 minute ad inside a regular video. Not a 14 min infomercial. Should have been labeled as such to begin with
They broke into my truck twice I installed a drone mobile alarm and kill switch. I get gps tracking and the alarm. If ignition is on I get it notified to my phone.
I've always had this fear!!! Immediately clicked that link and bought one!!
Yeah no!!!
Sorry bro…. Those connector OB sometimes do some damage to your computer. Also other components.
Me, old fashion kill switch. MPO
these aren't assets. liabilities is the proper term of 99%.5 of vehicles. now if you are thief, it is an asset as you didn't pay for it.
The Cartels choice!
By the way d o d system was first in the trailblazer ss What the DO? D system in 2005 and fi had to have my literature for a place to cylinder number 7. I still love the truck though
There's ONE dark reason Scandinavian countries don't have car theft or much crime at all...
Just ordered my carlock
If you can get hold of one of the old brake locks they wouldn’t be able to get it out of park to drive it. It’s a $10,000 dollar reward for anyone who can steal the car or truck.
What color is your 2007 Silverado? I think it's dark metallic blue that's the color of my truck
Should add a hidden kill switch
Just looked it up and they want almost $10 a month no thank you, I went and bought me a CLUB .
It's the takuaches.
You should do your research the item has a ton of bad reviews specifically on it subscriptions and false notifications.
I just hid an AirTag in my truck
Seems that a simple $5 toggle On/Off switch wired into the ignition switch fuel pump wire, would be a better and cheaper alternative, as turning it to ‘Off’ when you park, will prevent the motor from starting! Hide the switch too, so the thief wont find it! You MUST turn it to ‘Off’ whenever you park it, so it will never start!
Wish I had watched your video sooner.
My GMC Sierra was stolen last night! 😠
But I will definitely get one of these for the next truck.
Great video, Thanks
🇺🇸
I would just do a hidden kill switch in vehicle and you can add an apple air tag or similar underneath vehicle for tracking under 50 bucks for both and your covered
Just pop the hood and remove the starter and fuel pump relay, it's free and no matter how tech savvy a thief is, the only way he is getting your truck is with a tow truck.
Could hide an Apple Air tag somewhere in the vehicle and anytime an iPhone is nearby the location gets reported
Thanks for posting the video. I own a 2003 Chevy 1500 HD and someone has attempted to steal my truck twice in 12 months. Both times they tried to punch the ignition but failed to start the truck. No alarm or disabling device was installed at the time of the attempted thefts. I was lucky and I now have an ignition disabling device installed.
Add a Ravelco anti theft device and apple AirTag on all your vehicles.
Ravelco
Revelco
Installed Ravelco on my 2020 F250 Lariet this disable starter and fuel pump.
It might be better to hire armed security guards or place a pet python in the vehicle every time you leave the vehicle.
My pathfinder got stolen last year it was never found and it sucked bad because it was payed off and all I had was liability insurance so yea
Why no have the device disable the ignition system if an alert is activated?
I would definitely I stall it inline. Hidden under the dash so someone can't just unplug it and chuck it out the window.
Hidden immobilizers are a good option too! Can't steal a car if you need to perform a secret hand shake to get the fuel pump to turn on :P
