    Very nice. We frequently eat those types of dates during Ramadan(Muslim month of fasting). They are very sweet, soft and tasty. Some of my friends import them from Medina/Saudi Arabia. If I'm not mistaken I paid close to R200 for a small box of 500g for those dates. You should sent some my way. :)

    Jors: Are these the same kind of dates grown at Pella? I’ve had those and they are out of this world!!

    • @JorsMalan
      @JorsMalan  3 года назад +5

      They are not the same. The dates at Pella were cultivated from seedlings and are not a single variety. The medjool is a variety , cultivated from offshoots.
      I do talk about some of the history of thepella dates in an older video. ruclips.net/video/tQhzHobVHPE/видео.html
      Ill do a video on Medjool dates at a later occasion.

    Medjoul dates are of a large variety and one or two should be filling enough.I love the one from jericho's finest they are delicious hand-picked from the groves in the hot deserts of the ancient palestinian city of jericho.

  • @reneebrown3766
    @reneebrown3766 3 года назад +7

    There is not a fruit which has the succulence, sweetness, taste and varieties, as those grown in Southern Africa, you have to have lived there and experienced the unforgettable taste sensations, which quite simply, are like no fruits you have ever tasted. What is most sad about living in the Northern hemisphere, fruits at source are packed, sun under-ripened for exporting, for the long sea journey, but, if money is no object, sun ripened fruits sent by air, can be purchased in major cities.

    Thanks Jors. I work in Middle East but I'm from Pta and buy most of my medjoul dates from WW. I can eat them till my stomach bursts but, only have 1-2/day at home. At work during Ramadan I have to really hold back with so much available. In Iraq I often buy them with walnuts inserted to increase good fats and reduce glycemic index. Quite cheap. When flying thru Dubai or Doha duty free I buy fancy date gift sets. Question: How many do you approx eat/day especially during harvest season?

    • @JorsMalan
      @JorsMalan  2 года назад +5

      I try to keep it down to 2 - 3 per day but as I have to check a lot of fruit It might go up to 5-6.
      I enjoy the Super Juicy / Rutab the most.

    Hi Jors. Het jy self daai medjool pitte ontkiem en gegroei? Kan mens by jou koop?

    • @JorsMalan
      @JorsMalan  Год назад +3

      Dadel palms het n mannetjie boom en n wyfie boom, so n bestuifde vrugte se pit is altyd n "hybrid" en nooit n kultivar nie. Om n kultivar soos n Medjool boom te kry moet jy n suier (offshoot) van n bestaande boom af sny en dit plant. Ons produseer nog nie genoeg suiers vir onself nie en voer tans self in so verkoop glad nie.
